Chapter 45
Author Notes: I really need to put the peddle to the mettle here because I keep forgetting to work and update this series. As per usual folks, take my apologies and try not to kill me in my sleep lol.
Ok bad guys are gonzo(for now) so it's time to make a filler chapter because I have characters I need to put in here and help develop Frisk lol. So time to get this shindig started. I do not own Pokmeon or Undertale
3rd P.O.V
"Put some back into it Frisk! Shout from the heart, command your pokemon to victory!" Who would've thought that an escort to Temy's hometown would lead to a nice surprise training lesson. "Like this?!" After greeting all of the locals, Frisk took a well deserved nap.
And despite some grumblings from Papyrus("MY BROTHER HAS BECOME A TERRIBLE INFLUENCE ON YOU!") it was a peaceful slumber. Both her and her pokemon waking up refreshed and ready to continue her journey.
Though like all plans, it didn't go quite the way she expected it. Among all of Temy's relatives, there were a few traveling trainers that decided to stop by and stock up there as well. "Good! Now face your opponent, stare them dead in the eye. Let them see your resolve!" One of them was a spitfire of a lady.
"There we go! Show some courage like good ole Carrie here~" It wasn't Undyne training her and helping with Pikaboo, but Frisk would take any help she could get, especially when offered by someone who certainly had more experience then her.
At the very least she was a lot nicer than the old man back in Snowdin. "TOGETHER FRISK! NOW WE POSE IN VICTORY!" Though...working on a series of facial expressions and poses didn't really feel like training. If anything Frisk felt a bit silly. "That's the stuff!"
Still everyone deemed these little exercises to be important. Even Temy and some of her relatives were getting in on it. "Um...why is this important again?" Not that she could comprehend what Papyrus and Carrie told her as she was literally carried outside when she mentioned training.
The woman in question poked her nose, a wry smile on her lips. "The reason we're out here doing poses is to improve your confidence and body language." Both Frisk and Eve tilt their heads in confusion. What did body language and poses have to do with a battle?
Confidence yeah it was understandable but still...she didn't get it. A small sigh escapes Carrie as she lands her hands on her hips huffing. "I can tell from the way you interact with your pokemon that you got a lot of heart Frisk, they would go to the ends of the earth for you and vice versa right?"
That was true. No doubts about that. Like with Toriel and Asriel, to Frisk her pokemon were her friends and family. "Yes." She would do anything for them. It was why she wanted to find Undyne in the first place. To help Pikaboo.
"But in a battle, your pokemon are going to be looking to you for commands. If you seem anxious or lacking in confidence, so will they. Will and morale is just as important as knowing a pokemon's stats or their moves." The ten year old's eyes widen in surprise as she meets Eve's gaze.
Was that true? "Now it's important to know that pretending to be confident or being overconfident isn't a good thing. But having faith in yourself and your pokemon, using everything you have to fight. Like a roaring fire that belief should be strong and fierce."
Could it be that that was why Pikaboo went out of control? Because Frisk faltered when Pikaboo needed guidance the most? If so, that made her feel even worse. Knowing she could've prevented the whole rampage. Even now, Pikaboo refuses to come out on her own.
And Frisk has been too worried about a repeat to use her. "You've got incredible potential if what your friend Papyrus here says is true. But the moment things go wrong your confidence shatters and your pokemon pick up on that." It was a hard concept to grasp.
She was just a little kid, and frankly even before her journey she didn't have much confidence to begin with. The ursarang did a good job of that. "You should be honest with yourself and yes there are some battles no matter how hard you try you can't win..."
It was then Carrie brings out on of her pokemon. "However, it's when the situation is at its most dire that you should believe in your pokemon. Standing right by their side until the bitter end." The bright lights blinding the little trainer for a moment. But her deus ex machina was ready to go.
Primeape the pig monkey pokemon and the evolved form of Mankey. These pokemon are always instinctually angry and hate to lose. It is very hard for these pokemon to let down their guard.
Mr. Mime the barrier pokemon and the evolved form of Mime Jr. These pokemon are masters of pantomiming, but with its psychic powers can create physical walls even in midair to block attacks.
At this point Frisk was ready to invest some of her money into a pair of sunglasses with how bright these pokeballs can be. It was really starting to bother her eyes. Didn't help with how dim the caves could be.
"Alright kiddo. Let's battle, two on two! Leave the rest of your team out to watch." Not really given any other choice Frisk does as she's told. And the first thing that happens is her fast mimikyu jumping to hug the girl.
Nuzzling it's head(?) affectionately against her. "Hi Pikaboo. It's good to have you out of the ball." The brunette really missed her popping out at random, especially when Flowey was being mean. But she could tell the ghost fairy pokemon still wasn't fully herself.
The poor thing was shaking. "You don't want to battle do you?" Immediately her pokemon whines, like everyone else not wanting a repeat. "It's ok. You don't have to." Gently Frisk places Pikaboo on the ground giving a loving pet to the top of her disguise.
That still left Allen the abra, Pincer the kingler, and Eve the eevee. Frisk was glad that Carrie said this would only be a two on two match, she really didn't have the heart to force her mimikyu to fight.
Let it be said, before Pikaboo goes through any sort of training to up her confidence and control, Frisk needed to work on her own issues first. Because if what Carrie said was right, then Frisk hasn't been doing her absolute best to help her pokemon.
"Allen? Eve? Can you battle with me?" Her abra immediately teleported in front of her, his answer obvious. "Vee!" Eve was more than willing to as well, however just as she was about to leap from her human trainer's shoulder, she wobbled, nearly falling off.
Something that really worried her partner. "Eve? Are you still not feeling well?" The little fox pokemon shook her fur, as if trying to deny that she wasn't in the best of condition...but got dizzy afterwards, this time actually falling into Frisk's hands.
This was starting to become a big problem, one that Frisk had no idea what to do. She had taken Eve to the pokemon center in Tem village, but according to Bob and Burgerpants(it was really nice to see him again!) there was nothing physically wrong with her.
So what was it? "WHAT'S WRONG FRISK?" Still regardless, it was clear to her that her partner was in no shape to fight. So carefully Frisk carries her best friend, setting her down next to Pikaboo. "Eeeeee!" Much to the little eevee's disappointment.
"It's ok Eve. I don't want you to push yourself. You and Pikaboo cheer us on." It was the least that her pokemon on the sidelines could do as their owner returns to battle position, with Pincer taking Eve's spot on the battlefield. A gentle wind flowed through the cavern, rustling the trees.
Allowing for Frisk to take a nice deep breath. Centering herself and calming her nerves. It was time for her to step up as a proper pokemon trainer. "Let's go guys!" Her opponent nodded her head with pride.
The intensity in her eyes, it was bright. "That's a good look for you. Alrighty everyone let's get this battle started. Primape use double kick and Mr. Mime let's use confusion!" The time of focusing on the downsides of the past is gone. It was time to officially get training started.
to be continuing
Author Notes: Yeah I know not very exciting. But hey we got our soul of courage here! That's cool right? Right!? Probably not but hey I needed to have a reason to keep Frisk hanging out in Tem Village.
Sen: Do the voice!
Mako: *pitches voice* Nos!
Sen: Yay~ Temmie~
Mako: I swear this will keep happening until i either die or lose my voice. Ahem, anyhoo that is it for now. Thank you all so much for reading the series, as well as being patient. I appreciate all the support you guys give this story, it really means a big deal to me.
What was a random thought process became one of my most difficult, ambitious stories yet-and this is coming from someone that has been grinding on the 40+ chapter train on a good handful of stories at this point.
So if you do want to make my day please feel free to fav/follow/review. I'll see you all next time...Hopefully at a quicker pace than what i've been setting(...again hopefully) Tchao for now.
