The Misfits

Chapter 7

When I'm with you, I feel like I'm a better person.I feel lonely. -

Days Later

I want to say there was this huge breakthrough between me and Lucas. But i guess i might as well be honest.

Me reaching out calling or texting. I get to no response. When i go to see him at his house. When the boy who i now know is his son. Isn't home.

Lucas doesn't answer the door. I know that kiss meant something.

He feels for me what i feel for him. It's not love. Too soon for that.

But it's a pull. Connection.

Being around him. Talking to him. Makes me seen and heard. In a way i've never experienced before.

"Do you think i was too honest with him.? I laid it on too thick."

"The kiss maybe confused things. Peyton. Are you listening. I need help.?" Brooke asked.

Peyton finished getting ready. And looked over at Brooke.

"You need to refocus on work and spending time with guys that don't have a truck load of issues and emotional baggage."

"Or at the very least. Get rid of you're virginity already. We aren't in high school. Guys like it when a woman knows what she's doing." Peyton advised.

Brooke glared at her best friend. "My virginity isn't a taboo. Part of myself that i'm ashamed of or humilated by. All of my life i've had boys like me for my looks or my money. What i could for them."

"I want my first time to be special. With a man i'm in love with an connected too. On an emotional. Mental level."

"A moment i never forget." Brooke stated matter of fact.

Peyton rolled her eyes. "I'm off to the doctor. I'm hanging out with Nathan today." She replied.

"I'm surprised the two of you have gone this long without fighting."

"I want you to be happy and have the life you want." Brooke proclaimed.

"I want the same for you. Just with a man who deserves you."

"Lucas Scott is flashing signs you refuse to see." Peyton replied. Before leaving her room and eventually the home.

...

The heartbeat sound filled the exam room. Peyton and Nathan were locked on the ultra sound machine.

"Everything is progressing normally. Heartbeat is strong."

"I'll go get you a presciption for pre natal vitamins." The OBGYN said. As she left the room.

Peyton slowly lowered her shirt.

"This is really happening. We're going to be family." Nathan proclaimed. As if the impact and reality of becoming a father only truly hit him then.

"I'm excited too. Ellie for a girl. Larry for a boy or Royal. Dan would love that. We could mix in Deb for a girl." Peyton suggested.

"My parents don't know about the pregnancy yet. I'll tell them. Soon. Now that we know the baby is doing okay." Nathan replied.

He took her hand and slipped a ring on her ring finger.

"I want you to marry Peyton." Nathan stated matter of fact.

...

Camden walked through the door coming from school. There were times he stayed late.

He dropped his bag by the door and called out to his dad.

Lucas's car was almost always in the driveway unless he was out.

When he didn't find him downstairs he went upstairs.

Camden raced over once he saw his dad. On the ground surrounded by empty bottles.

"Dad! Daddy! Wake up!" Daddy!" Camden yelled. He got out Lucas's cellphone and dialed 911.

...

Lucas didn't remember alot. So waking up in a hospital bed took a minute to process. But once he saw various faces staring back at him. He knew this was bad.

"You had alcohol poisoning. You're son found you on the floor."

"He thought you were dead. And given how much alcohol you had in you're system you could of been." The doctor explained.

Lucas felt his heart sink. As the doctor explained what been done. All Lucas could think about was Camden and how he hated his son finding him in such a state.

Once he heard he was going to live. He stopped listening.

A woman in a professional outfit. Entered the hospital rom and showed her ID.

Lucas instantly focused his gaze and sat up.

"Child Services. I'm a social worker. If possible i would like to speak to the patient alone." She explained.

"Where is my son!" Lucas exclaimed.

"Mr. Scott. It's been brought to our attention that you have a problem with alcohol. A serious one. And we think it may be in Camden's best interest to be removed from you're custody." The woman explained.

"You're wrong! My son isn't in danger! I love him!" Lucas exclaimed.

...

"I would to report a child in a dangerous/unhealthy. Living situation." Peyton whispered. Clutching her cellphone tightly.
