Chapter 19: The Tour Begins

After our visit with President Snow, my mother, Weiss walked into the room. "Hi, mother," I said. "Hey, Lana. You and Katniss have another visitor." Weiss said. "Who is it?" I asked. "Just come outside," Weiss said. I followed Weiss outside, where I saw Effie and a couple of other people.

"Hello," Effie said with a smile when she walked in the door. "There they are! My greatest triumphs!" Effie said. "Our little superstars," Flavius said. Effie walked up to Katniss and hugged her, then she hugged me. "Hi, Effie," I said. "Hello Lana, how have you been?" Effie asked me. "I've been good," I said. "Sweeties, we've missed you," Flavius said as he hugged us.

"What a cute little house," Effie said. "So quaint, isn't it?" Octavia said. "Of course, you've heard about Cinna?" Effie asked. "What happened to Cinna?" Katniss asked worriedly. "Oh, dear, he's a fashion superstar. You're his muse. Everyone in the Capitol's wearing him. Everyone. Well, not everyone. Oh!" Effie said. I saw Cinna walking into the house. Katniss and I walked up to hug him. Cinna hugged us back.

"Cinna!" Katniss and I said excitedly as he hugged us tightly.

"Katniss?" Aunt Prim asked. Aunt Prim was standing in the corner. "Katniss, is that your sister?" Octavia asked. Katniss nodded. "Oh, sweetie!" Octavia cried as he walked up to her. "Oh, just adorable!" Octavia cooed.

"Are you girls okay?" Cinna asked us. "Yeah," Katniss said. "Ready to work?" Cinna asked. We nodded. "Yeah," Katniss said. "All right. Good." Cinna said. With that, we got to work.

Later, we had our check-up interview with Ceaser. It was a virtual interview with the cameras coming to our house. Katniss and I had our thick coats on because the cameras were outside and it was cold outside. Even though the interview was virtual, I was still nervous because we were being recorded for all of Panem to see. As Ceaser was on the recording on the tv, Effie gasped excitedly.

"It's time!"

"She's done, she's lovely. We must feed the monster. All right, now." Effie said. Effie escorted us to the door. "You're excited. You're in love. Big smiles for the camera in three, two, one." Effie said. "Good luck, Lana," Blake said. "Thanks, mom," I said. I held onto Katniss's hand as we waited by the door for our names to be called.

"There she is! Katniss Everdeen and her daughter, Lana Xion Long! The girls on fire!" Ceaser shouted. We heard the audience cheering on the other end of the screen. Katniss and I walked down the steps.

"And there he is! Peeta Mellark! The baker's boy!" Ceaser shouted as Peeta walked down the steps of his house. Katniss, Peeta, and I smiled as we walked up to each other. As Katniss, Peeta, and I hugged, we accidentally slipped on the ice. "Ow," I said as we landed on top of each other.

"Ohh. Uh-oh, Woah. Oh. Trouble in paradise." Ceaser said. Everyone laughed. "I hope they're all right," Ceaser said. I got off of my parents as they leaned in to kiss each other.

"Ahem. Anyone home? Should we come back later?" Ceaser called. I poked Katniss a bit, but she ignored me and kept kissing Peeta. "Mom, dad!" I shouted.

"Oh! Sorry, Ceaser." Katniss apologized as she got up. Katniss helped Peeta up as well. Peeta helped me up. I brushed the snow off my pants.

"Oh please. It's all right, it's your day." Ceaser said. "It's your day. So, how's it going?" Ceaser asked us. "We're good," Peeta said and nodded. "That's it? That's all we get? We're good? So taciturn all of a sudden. Peeta. Give me some details!" Ceaser exclaimed. The audience cheered. "Yeah, things are uh... things are great here in District 12," Peeta said. "Thanks to the generosity of the Capitol, we've never been closer," Katniss said.

"25 yards to be exact," Peeta said with a chuckle. We all giggled. "Fantastic! We'll be checking in with both of you throughout the victory tour. Thank you so much, Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, and Lana Xion Long!" Ceaser said. We smiled and waved to the cameras. The cameras powered down.

"Wonderful! Everybody in motion. We are out of here in 10." Effie called.

"That was nice acting." Peeta complimented. "You too," Katniss said. "What about me?" I asked my parents. "Yeah, you did good," Peeta said. "Almost thought that kiss was real," Peeta said. Peeta walked away.

"Come along, children, we are on a schedule. The train awaits!" Effie said.

I met with my parents, team RWBY, and Team JNPR.

"You did good, Lana," Pyrrha said. "Thanks, mom," I said. "Are you okay?" Ren asked me. "What do you mean?" I asked with confusion. "The fall," Ren said. "Oh. Yeah, I'm okay dad." I said. "Come on, it's time to go. Nice job, kiddo." Uncle Qrow said as he patted my back. I followed my family to the train.

It has been the next day since our interviews with Ceaser. We are on the train for the Victory Tour. Our first stop was District 11. "Fabulous food. Fabulous wine. The massages, spa treatments, and movie theaters are especially for you, Lana. I told them. Nothing but the best for my three victors. It all needs to be uh..."

"Fabulous?" Haymitch finished. "Exactly. Now, the schedule is a bit of a bear. 12 days, 12 Districts. But it's mostly parties, celebrations, and adoring fans to greet you at every step along the way. And then we wrap it up in the Capitol. All you need to do, is give a few speeches, wave to the crowds, and enjoy your time in the spotlight. You've earned it." Effie said with a smile. Katniss and I grew angry. "What did you say?" Katniss said, angrily. "Katniss." Haymitch scolded.

"I said, 'enjoy it Katniss and Lana. You've earned it.'" Effie said as she smiled at us. "By killing people." Katniss snapped. "And by having my life being threatened by careers," I added. "Young ladies..." Effie said with a sigh. "Come on Lana, let's get out of here," Katniss said. I got up and followed Katniss.

"Lana, you need to apologize. Now." Salem said firmly. "She doesn't need to," Katniss said. Katniss and I stormed off. We walked to the back train car. We sat down on the comfortable couches.

"Mom, how much longer do we need to do this?" I asked. "I don't know, sweetie," Katniss said. I sighed. I decided to turn on the tv and watched Tangled on the tv. After a while, we heard the door open. I sighed. "I'm not really in the mood for a lecture. I'll apologize to Effie later." Katniss said. "Yeah, go away Haymitch," I said. But it wasn't Haymitch. It was Peeta who walked into the room, along with my wives, Salem and Yang, and also Weiss.

"We thought you were Haymitch," Katniss said. Peeta sat down next to us. "You girls don't have to apologize to anybody. Including me. I know it's not fair to me to hold you to the things you said in the games. You saved us. I know that." Peeta said.

"I'm sorry I snapped at you, Lana. I understand that you're angry. I would be too." Salem said. "It's okay," I said. "And he's right. You don't need to apologize to anybody." Salem said.

"I can't go on, acting for the cameras and then just ignoring each other in real life. So if you can stop looking at me like I'm wounded, then I can quit acting like it. And then maybe we have a shot at being friends." Peeta said. "I've never been very good at friends," Katniss said. "Mean either. I've always been the shy one." I said. "That's not true, hon. You've made lots of friends at Beacon Acadamy." Weiss said. I sighed.

"For starters, It does help when you know the person. I hardly know anything about you girls. Except when you're stubborn and good with a bow. And you're semblance." Peeta said. "That about sums me up," Katniss said. "Me too," I said. "No, there's more than that, you just don't want to tell me," Peeta said. "Just tell him what you said when you told us when we first met at Beacon," Yang said.

"It's like I said, I'm..." Katniss started but Peeta cut her off. "See, Katniss, the way the whole friend's thing works is you have to tell each other the deep stuff."

"The deep stuff?" Katniss said, nervously. "Yeah," Peeta said. "Uh-oh. Like what?" Katniss asked. "Like, uh... what's you're favorite color?" Peeta asked us. "Well, now you've stepped over the line," Katniss said. Peeta chuckled. "Seriously, though, what is it?" Peeta asked. "Green," Katniss answered. "Mine is pink and sky blue," I said. "What's your's?" Katniss asked. "Orange," Peeta answered. "Like Effie's hair?" Katniss said. "No. Not that orange. More uh, more like uh sunset kind of orange." Peeta said. Peeta looked at the movie I was watching on the movie. "What's that movie you're watching?" Peeta asked me.

"It's Tangled," I said. "Cool. Who's your favorite Princess?" Peeta asked me. "I like Mulan and Jasmine the best. Who's yours?" I asked. "I'm not really into Disney movies. I'm more of a Marvel fan. My favorite is Captain America." Peeta said. "My favorite is Gamora and for males, it's Doctor Strange," I said. "Hey, now you're getting it," Yang said as she rubbed my head.

"Hey, stop it! You're messing up my hair!" I giggled. Just then, we came into a tunnel. "I think we're here," Weiss said. As we were passing by, I thought I saw a red mocking jay symbol.

"Woah, did you guys see that?" Salem cried. "Did anyone see that too?" Katniss asked. "See what?" Peeta asked. "Woah," Peeta said. We stood up to look out the window. When we got out of the tunnel, we saw a sign that said District 11.

That means that we have arrived in District 11.
