a/n before i get started with the story. i just really quickly wanted to state that there will most likely be a bit of swearing (i will try and minimize it at much as i can, but it's just how i feel fits the story best) and with anything else i put a warning for in the beginning, i will try and keep it as minimum and non-descriptive as possible. and another thing, if there is something you don't like about my story, i appreciate the criticism but please be aware that i most likely won't change it since i am the writer. and lastly, if you don't like this/something in the story, DON'T READ. thank you for your time, and enjoy the story :)
- chapter 5 -
Tommy exhaled and ran a hand through his hair, crossing his legs. "So, I was thinking, maybe we go out today?"
"Go out where?" Fae asked, looking over at Tommy.
The blonde shrugged, resting his hands on his legs. "I don't know, I guess- I could show you around L'manburg. Well, what remains of it," he added, chuckling. "Plus, I need to get to my place and continue on the wall."
"Why are you making the wall again?" Fae pressed forward, brushing strands of hair out of her face.
"To keep Dream out," he muttered, rolling his eyes. "Can't stand that bastard." Fae nodded, leaning forward and resting her arms on her thighs. Tommy looked over, watching Fae for a moment, a bit longer then intended and looked away. "He can't hurt you, though. I wouldn't let him."
"I'm glad to hear that," Fae said with a smile and Tommy looked back at her, his face heating up quickly. He looked away, staring at the fire.
He stood, brushing off his trousers. "I suppose we should get going," he stated, turning towards the door. Fae nodded and stood, following Tommy as he walked out the side door, heading to the other cabin. She waited by the ladder, her thoughts consuming her head. The boy climbed the ladder, walking over to the foot of the bed. He slid on his boots before grabbing Fae's, then picked up the trench coat he gave to the girl. He paused for a moment and held the coat to his face, inhaling the scent of the girl and the leftover smokey remains of cigarettes Wilbur used to use. He exhaled, a small smile appearing on his face before it disappeared. What the hell am I doing?! God, I must look like a creep! He quickly pulled the trench coat away from his nose and tucked it under his arm, grabbing the boots and walked over to the ladder. He climbed down, handing Fae the coat and her boots. She nodded and said a quick thanks, pulling the coat on and sliding her boots onto her sock-covered feet. They both exited the cabin, making their way back to the mainland.
"I was wondering, do you know why Phil has two cabins?" Fae asked Tommy, looking over at him reading a map.
"Uh yeah, it belonged to a friend of his, Techno," Tommy replied after a moment of silence, glancing up from his map for a moment. "But he uhm, he's not around." He let out a shaky sigh, running a hand through his hair.
"What- what happened to him?" Fae pushed, putting her hands in the pockets of the trench coat.
"He uh, he's- he's not with us, anymore," he spoke, his voice wavering. Tears threaten to spill from his eyes but he squeezed them shut, rubbing them vigorously.
"Oh. I- I'm so sorry, Tommy," she said quietly, exhaling. She rested a hand on Tommy's arm and he tensed for a moment before relaxing, sighing.
"It's- It's alright, it was a bit ago," the blonde replied, looking over at Fae with a hesitant smile. "He's- He's in a better place now, though." He looked forward, tucking the map back into his pocket. "Y'know, I think you would've liked L'manburg."
"What was it like?" Fae asked, looking forward as they walked through the forest.
"It was spectacular," Tommy commented, chuckling. "Well, it wasn't when we first started it, but it turned out great. Until that son of a bitch Schlatt became president and Wilbur fucking imploded the place. It was- well, it was a place for us outsiders of the SMP to, y'know, be ourselves. We didn't have to be under anyone else's rule, all we had was ourselves and it was great."
"Who's Schlatt?"
"He- God, he was an arsehole. Took over the bloody country and basically let Dream take control over us again. He's almost as bad at the teletubby." Tommy chuckled, shaking his head. "That's a bunch of bull, no one's worse than Dream."
"Was L'manburg nice?" Fae asked, looking back at Tommy.
He chuckled and nodded, meeting her eyes. "Yeah. There were these beautiful cabin-like houses that were built into a hill- and this really nice lake with docks over it. And it always used to smell like freshly baked bread or cake or cookies. Niki loved to bake, so you could smell everything she made.
"And- and the view? Oh God, the view from the top of the house that's on top of the hill is amazing," he added, smiling nostalgically. Tommy sighed, running a hand through his hair. "But now, the houses have all collapsed and fallen into a humongous pit in the ground, probably all deteriorated. The water's pretty much gone. No more great view, and the only thing you can smell there now is gunpowder. Fucking gunpowder."
"It- It sure sounded nice, before- before it got destroyed," Fae said, trying to sound hopeful. "And, I mean- I'm sure you can preserve some stuff that- that maybe be left?"
"Phil's tried to do that, fix some things up," Tommy replied. "He did like, a nice bridge over the pit snd spruced up the hole down there, but I doubt it'll ever be returned to it's former glory. Even if it was, I'm sure it'd just get exploded again."
Fae nodded in response, watching Tommy for a moment before looking away. "I'd like to see it," she said, a small smile on her face.
"Maybe I'll take you there," the blonde said with a smile, glancing over at Fae for a moment.
They soon made it back to the mainlands, getting back onto the path. They'd occasionally pass by people and Tommy would make conversation for a few moments before continuing forward, with Fae by his side.
"Okay uh, I'm gonna work on this," Tommy said, jumping down and heading over to a chest where he left his supplies in. "You can help me with this, or not, I don't really care." He watched as she walked over and sat down beside the chest, watching him. He kept his gaze on the girl for a moment before looking away, proceeding to build.
