A warm breeze swept over the tarmac as Bruce made his way back to the small group assembled there. In undoubtedly expensive sunglasses and an equally expensive black button up shirt, he could rival runway models as he strode towards them, a gust of wind tousling his short hair.
"Everything looks good. Bags are being loaded, the jet is fully staffed and running smoothly." he looked at his watch, the metal shining in the sunlight. "Dick, you remember your training in case anything goes wrong?"
"Of course," Dick promised, the breeze blowing his dark hair around his face. He, too, wore expensive sunglasses, but they were scuffed to hell and a little bent at the ears. His arm was around Harley's hip as they waited, the Wayne family gathered in a small circle off to the side of Bruce's private jet. She draped her arm around his waist as she leaned forward to coo at Haly who Selina was bouncing in her arms.
"I'm going to miss you baby."
Haly spluttered and tried to grab Harley's pink hair.
Jason stretched loudly and looked around. "Is Malibu Barbie coming to say goodbye or what? I even made it all the way out here."
"She should be here," Dick commented, looking at his watch. "We've still got time. A little, anyway," he smiled and played with Harley's hair a little, grinning.
"Is it bad if I don't remember the training Bruce is talking about?" she teased him.
"Is it bad if your new husband is excited that there's still a little time left instead of starting his honeymoon?" Jason asked.
Dick shot a look at Jason before smiling again. "Flight training. I think to wear a cape in the Batfamily you have to know how to operate all the machinery- along with the Batwing comes standard flight training."
"Yeah for a man who fights dangerous criminals with children by his side, he's incredibly safety oriented," Damian added with a raised eyebrow. Barbara trotted over to them as she beamed, shielding her eyes from the sun.
"Sorry! Traffic was a bitch from the precinct. Glad I didn't miss you!"
"Oh you know Dick would never leave without saying goodbye to you," Steph teased. Her arms were wrapped around Tim's waist as she stood behind him with her chin resting on his shoulder.
"And I would just die if I didn't get to say goodbye to my partner in crime here," Barbara laughed, her blonde hair pulled up in a ponytail as she hugged Harley tight. "You two have fun. And don't get arrested."
"I don't think that will be a problem," Dick laughed.
"Besides I'm sure European jails are a breeze compared to Arkham," Harley scoffed.
"That's the spirit," Ivy praised.
"You're not calling me to break you out again," Jason warned them as he nudged Ivy with his shoulder.
"And you know you'll get nothing from Bruce if you do, no," Selina added, but it was directed at Haly in baby talk instead of Harley and Dick. Bruce chuckled.
"Well, I believe everyone's here to send you off, so. It's about time to go."
"Aw!" Harley cried. She shuffled back over to Haly and stroked her cheek. "Are you sure we can leave her?"
"I'm sure I can sleep all the way through the night without being woken up four or five times," Dick stretched his arms over his head. Jason snorted
"You're going to be sleeping through the night? Some honeymoon."
"I walked right into that one didn't I," Dick chuckled.
"Yes you did." Harley kissed his cheek before heading over to hug Ivy. "Keep Jason out of trouble."
"Keep Dick in trouble," she countered.
"Deal," Harley laughed.
"Don't break anything," Bruce adds, with a bit of a disdainful glance at Ivy. Who'd have guessed even a year ago that they'd end up with all three of the Gotham City Sirens in their family. "I need you both to take your kid back when you return," he smirked.
Selina smacked his shoulder.
"I'm hoping we don't," Dick smiled. "Ready to go, Harles?" She went over to give Selina a quick hug and Haly a final kiss before heading back over to him.
"I think so." She grinned up at him as she wrapped her arm back around his waist.
"Looks like someone's planning on joining the mile high club in Bruce's jet," Barbara whispered to Tim and Steph.
"Just clean up whatever messes you make, okay?" Bruce muttered, and Tim stifled a laugh as Stephanie grinned against his back. Dick rolled his eyes.
"It will be returned to you in pristine condition. As much as I hate to leave you all; see ya!" Dick tugged on Harley's arm.
"Good God, we'll miss you too, Dick!" Barbara cried sarcastically.
"How can you leave us like this?!" Jason added. Harley giggled.
"We'll miss you guys. I'll miss you Haly." She waved at the baby again. Dick kissed Haly's head one more time and waved as he guided Harley away towards the jet. He was tempted to turn back and wave again but he didn't.
"Your chariot awaits, milady," he smiled, holding her hand as he helped her up the stairs. Harley did turn around at the top of the stairs to wave to everyone again before stepping into the plane.
"I miss her already."
Dick smiled as he dumped his jacket down on the couch, flopping down and kicking his feet up. "Me too…" he sighed. Harley skipped over to one of the chairs that rotated and dropped in so it twisted around as she giggled. "...but I am glad to have a tiny break. Am I a horrible parent for saying that?" He turned his head to smile at her in the chair.
"Absolutely," Harley sighed. "All every parent wants is a break."
"And now we finally get one," Dick grinned over at her, biting his lip. Very obviously. Harley grinned back at him.
"Excited for some alone time, are we, husband of mine?" she teased.
"Without a baby, a dog, or a relative of mine interrupting?" He shrugged. "Hell yes."
"And here I thought it was just me," Harley laughed as she leaned forward in her seat. She swiveled her seat from side to side as she watched him.
"I'm insulted you haven't noticed me undressing you with my eyes as you got dressed this morning," he smirked, but it grew into a smile as he tucked an arm under his head. Harley laughed at him.
"If I noticed it every day, we'd never get anywhere."
"Then I guess it is a good thing you've learned to tune me out," he laughed merrily. The jet's engines whirred, readying for takeoff.
"Yes because if I let you distract us, we wouldn't make it to the airport in time for an extended time alone." She winked and giggled at him.
"Oh would you just get over here," Dick laughed, holding a hand out to her.
A stewardess poked her head back and smiled.
"If you two would please buckle up while we take off, you'll be free to move about the cabin once we've departed."
"Sure thing." Dick sat up and moved over by Harley to sit down and buckle up. Harley quickly undid it and pulled it out loose. She scooted over to sit on his lap and buckled the belt over them both.
"Do you think this is allowed?"
"On the off, maybe one percent, chance we die on takeoff; it will not save us or doom us, and either way Haly is in good hands," Dick laughed.
"Selina's poor dilemma at being sad we're gone but overjoyed at having a baby," Harley agreed. "The contradiction would drive her insane." She settled better on his lap and grabbed ahold of his hand.
"Dealing with insane isn't so bad," he grinned and kissed her cheek.
"Let me guess, you love your crazy girl?" she teased.
"Oh you know I do." Dick smiled back at her. She leaned her head back beside his.
"You're not sick of me yet after being married to me for a few days?"
"Oh most definitely. You suffocate me, dear wife. I don't know how I'll handle my life sentence of adventure and romance," he layered on the sarcasm with the words, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"See I knew I'd changed since the wedding," she giggled. Dick smiled and rested his forehead against hers as the plane lifted off of the ground from the runway, and he turned to smile out the window at the ground falling away below them.
"Off to Neverland now," he smiled a little, and turned back to Harley as he unbuckled his belt. She twisted so she was sideways in his lap.
"Well that sounds like a promising honeymoon." She draped her arms on his shoulders.
"I thought I told you where we were going?" Dick smiled at her, a teasing note in his voice.
"You just said Europe," she corrected him, "and I've never been there, so for all I know it could be Neverland."
"Do you want it to be?" Dick smiled. "I was going to make a joke about flying, since that's kind of our thing, but y'know. I think it speaks for itself." She giggled and buried her face in the crook of his neck.
"So are we flying off to Neverland?" she whispered, tilting her head up so her lips were by his ear. "Because a land for children doesn't go well with what I have planned for our honeymoon." She grinned as she tugged at his earlobe with her teeth. Dick closed his eyes.
"You know, I was thinking about playing a little game with myself called see how long I can hold out. Try to make it to landing before I caved in to you. I don't think I'll win that game."
"Maybe you should set a more reasonable goal next time," Harley teased. She leaned away so she could adjust to face him.
"As if I don't have goals in mind," he clicked his tongue. Dick's hands on her hips had slipped under her shirt, and his thumbs traced lazy circles on the skin there.
"Care to share them with me?" she challenged once she settled back on his lap.
"Oh I don't know about that. Some are surprises. Most are very ambitious." He smiled, his eyes softening. "I just want this honeymoon to be really special. We're already so close… I want to use everything we know about each other, but also be adventurous."
"Would you like to make a list of your demands before we get started?" Harley teased. She kissed his nose. "I didn't marry you for our honeymoon; I married you for the rest of our lives, so stop worrying about it."
"Me? Stop worrying?" Dick laughed. "I'm not worried, I just… Well, I want it to be special. I just do. I'm a sap, sue me," he smiled back at her.
"I promise to make it special for you if you make it special for me," Harley suggested with a grin.
"Now that-" he paused to plant a quick kiss on her lips- "I think I can manage with minimal stress."
"Starting with… How about you get another kiss when you tell me where exactly it is that we're going?" She tilted her head slightly as she stared at him, beaming. Dick smiled a little.
"A ski resort in St. Anton, Austria." He pulled her forward and kissed her lips. "We'll spend a couple of days there, and from there we'll go through Italy, and then France-" his fingers traced map lines on her back as he spoke- "and then it's your choice whether we go north to the U.K., or south to Spain." Dick smiled against her lips. When his fingers moved 'south', he traced a hand along her underwear at the hem of her jeans.
"Well Spain is sounding really appealing right now," Harley admitted, "but I might be a little biased at the moment." She slid her hands to the back of his neck and under his shirt collar. Dick smiled.
"I know, we've got about ten days for our honeymoon… not to say we can't extend it… but a couple of days at each destination is what I had in mind. Because who could go on a honeymoon in Europe and leave Paris out?" He beamed.
Harley gasped. "Really? Like the actual Paris, France? With the Eiffel Tower and romance and everything?"
"Of course, you heard the word 'France' pass my lips, didn't you? I wouldn't dare take you to France and not take you to Paris. You deserve this vacation more than anyone." Dick's hand moved up into her hair and gently tugged the hair tie out, trying not to grin at her pink hair. He hadn't been able to get over it since she'd walked down the aisle with it.
Harley beamed mischievously, her eyes shining. "I can't wait."
"Chilled champagne, Mr. and Mrs. Grayson?" the flight attendant asked behind them as she entered the cabin with a bright smile and a cart. Dick looked over past Harley and she giggled, dropping her head on his shoulder.
"Speaking of romance," she grinned. "Yes, please!"
Dick took the offered champagne glass and Harley slid off of his lap to curl up beside him, taking her own when it was offered. The hostess placed the bottle and a bowl of strawberries on the table beside them and left with her cart. Harley reached over and plucked up a strawberry.
"I'm going to have to get used to being Mrs. Grayson," she mused, taking a bite and sipping some of her champagne. "And being a Wayne. All this luxury, right at my fingertips! Selina had the right idea. Why spend a lifetime robbing banks when you can just marry in?" Harley beamed. Dick laughed and raised his champagne glass, biting his lip.
"Well, Mrs. Grayson, here is to a lifetime of luxury, love, and adventure. There's no one in the world I'd rather spend it with."
"A lifetime of happiness," Harley agreed and tapped her glass to his. Dick leaned forward and his lips met hers in a gentle kiss, eyes shining like the water outside the windows far below.
