Arthur was ranting inside the van "I'm a bad partner? Chuck, he hasn't had one good idea in his unremarkable career". Mina was leaning her head against the door of the van clearly tired of hearing it "But his idea about the diffractors could work, right?" "Fine, one decent idea. Except, I eliminated the diffractors when I upgraded the medallions". Manic awkwardly looked down at the floor "So, if we had an old medallion, we might be able to track down the lab?" "Yes, but we don't" "What if we did? I mean… well, life's funny". Mina sighed "Oh, Gaia. You didn't destroy the medallion" "What!?" Arthur yelled. Manic shrugged "Well, it was your life's work, Arthur. I couldn't destroy that. Before I turned myself in, I shrunk it down an mailed it to Max" "You sent my life's work through the mail?" "Hey, the postal service is very reliable. You know they do tracking numbers now". Arthur took a calming breath "Where is it?" "It's in a very safe place, alright? Don't worry".
Max was in Manic's house on the phone "What, the trophy? No, it's not here" "What do you mean it's not there? Where could it be?" "I looked everywhere. It's not here". The giant ant suddenly appeared and tried to eat a potted plant "Hey, get away from the plant". He pushed it back "But I put it back after Tania and I… Show-and-tell".
Manic in the van turned back to the others looking scared "Well, the good news is I know where the medallion is".
Mini-Manic in his suit was riding on top of an ant while Mina flew next to him through the hallway of a school "Whenever you go back to school isn't everything supposed to be smaller? This place seems huge-AH!". He suddenly fell off the ant and landed on the floor now grown to half his normal size. Mina landed next to him "What is it?" "It's the new regulator". Manic got to his feet "Arthur, what's going on with this medallion? How much of a work in progress is this?". They heard a bell go off "Uh-oh. No, no, no". He ran into a supply cupboard just before the children left their classrooms. He hit his medallion "Come on". He grows to twenty feet taking up most of the room. His helmet came off and he saw Mina staring at him "Oh". She started to laugh, "What're you, laughing? Please, could you just…" "Okay, okay". She grew to normal size and opens up the now giant medallion "It's malfunctioning. Just let me". She opened the dial and messed with a few of the wires. Something sparked "OW!" "Sorry" "It's alright". She closed it "Try now". Manic's helmet came back on, and he shrunk to normal size, and they are now face to face "Sor-". He was now the size of a child "What?" he touches his medallion, but nothing happens "Awesome". Mina smiled and leaned down "If only Shads could see you now" "Hilarious. What're we gonna do?". They notice a lost and found box full of clothes. Manic puts on a big hoody and sneaks out of the room. A teacher comes out of a class and sees him "Hey! Where's your hall pass". Manic froze, "Hey, I'm talking to you". Manic ran around a corner "Hey!" the teacher yelled but didn't bother running after him. Manic runs past different classroom reading the teacher's names. He runs into Mrs Broadwell's class, and he walks over to a shelving unit. He stops when he finds that Tania's bag was on a high shelf. He starts jumping up trying to reach it as Mina hovered next to him laughing "You can do it. You almost got it". She grew to normal size and took the bag. She hands it to Manic who opens it and takes out the World's Greatest Grandma trophy "Oh, peanut". He pulls of the bottom section and takes out the medallion which he hands to Mina.
They sneak back outside and get into the van with great struggle. Arthur smirks "Hiya, champ, how was school today?" "Oh, ha, ha. Alright, get your jokes out now. Can you fix the suit?". Mina shook her head "So cranky" "You want a juice box and some string cheese?". They both laugh and drive away, "Do you really have that?" Manic asked.
Arthur removes a small circuit from the inside of the old medallion and connects it to a piece of machinery "Let's see if Chuck was right". He waited patiently with Mina and Manic who was back to his normal size. A computer screen showed "Signal Detected" it displays a point on a map "This has gotta be the lab". They all smile "Let's go get it".
The van drives up outside the warehouse "This seems right" Manic said. He and Mina suit up and Manic smiles "Look at us, teaming up twice in one day" "Makes you think, huh?". Manic didn't understand "About what?" "Echidnaopolis" "What do you mean?". She sighed "We were working together training together and… other stuffing together" "If I asked you, would you have come?" "I guess we'll never know. But I do know one thing. If I had, you'd never have been caught" she shrinks. Manic smiles thoughtfully and Arthur turns to him "Hey, Manic. You think you can stop daydreaming about my daughter long enough to get my lab?" "Yes, sir" "Thank you" he shrinks and jumps onto an ant. Arthur opens a laptop and sees through cameras "Okay, you're transmitting".
Manic caught up with Mina "What took you so long?" "Sorry, I had to come up with a name for my ant. Still working on it". They fly through the doors "I'm not getting anything on the monitors. There's some kind of electronic disturbance. Be careful" "You know me, Arthur. I'm always care-Whoa!". A knight was standing in front of them, but it didn't move "It's okay. It's just a suit". They then see the chamber where the ghost girl was lying asleep "Who's that?" "I think that's our Knight. But what is she doing?" "Let's just get outta here before she wakes up". Manic looked around and spotted the lab "Mina, look". They fly down and land in front of it "So, you sure this is our shrunken building and not somebody else's right" "Just take it, Manic. Come on, we gotta be fast". They enlarge and Manic takes the lab but Mina then realises the girl was not in the chamber "Oh, shit". The girl appeared behind her and morphed into a knight. She kicked Mina in the back of the head and then punched Manic out cold.
Manic waked and found himself tied to a chair, beside him were Mina and Arthur in the same predicament but still unconscious "Mina. Mina! Arthur! Guys" "I don't think they can hear you". He jumped and saw the ghost girl in front of him. She smiles "Hi. I'm Lah" "Manic. So, you're a ghost" "No. I'm still alive". She looks down at her trembling hand "The pain reminds me of that" "Okay, you're not gonna reach into my chest and crush my heart, are you?". She laughed and leaned closer to him threateningly "You're funny. I'm not gonna hurt you, Manic, unless I have to". She moved her hand up his head "I need what's in your head". Her hands then phase through his head and her smile fades. She moves away "Let's wake up the rest of the gang and get this over with, shall we?". She walks over to the armour that resembled her form and kicked it. The armour fell apart and hit the ground with loud clanking. It woke up Mina and Arthur. She moved and kicked Arthur's chair "Come on!" "Dad! Don't touch him". Lah moved in front of them "Now, now. I think I'm being rather gentle with you father, all things considered" "What the hell are you talking about?" "Another casualty of Arthur Mongoose's ego". They turned and saw Chuck enter "Chuck? What have you done?". Lah glared at him "It's what you've done, Doctor". Manic stared at Chuck "You're with her? Oh, man. I thought you were cool". Lah's gaze continued on Arthur "I doubt Arthur's has ever mentioned my father. Why would he? Alexander Pell". Arthur's face dropped but he said nothing. "They were colleagues at G.U.N. Quantum research. Until my father dare disagree with the great Arthur Mongoose. You had him fired. Oh, and discredited for good measure. My father tried to continue his research on his own. Desperate to restore his name, so he took risks. Too many. Until something went wrong".
She clenched her fist "He told us to run. I could tell he was scared. I didn't want him to be alone. When I wake up my parents are dead. I wasn't so lucky". She looked down at her hand "They call it molecular disequilibrium. A rather dull name, I think. Doesn't quite do justice to what it means. Every cell in my body is torn apart and stitched back together. Over and over. Every day". She glances at the broken knight armour "I even learned to control what I came back together as". Chuck held his hands behind his back "I was still at G.U.N when I got the call about a quantum anomaly. Then I found out the victim was the daughter of an old friend" "Dr Thorndyke did his best to keep me safe. But others at G.U.N saw an opportunity in my affliction. They built me a containment pod to stabilize me so I could control my phasing. And trained me to be a stealth operative. They weaponized me. I stole for them. Spied for them. Killed for them. And in exchange for my soul, they were going to cure me". She scowled "They lied" "When G.U.N collapsed, I took Lah in. I built a new chamber which is able to slow her decay, but her condition was progressive. I didn't know how to cure it". A phone suddenly rang sounding like a duck quack, Chuck ignored it "She wanted to kill you, Arthur, but I told her to watch you. And sure enough she discovered that you were building the tunnel. Then, she told me about Manic. And the message from Bella inside his head. That's when I- Oh, for love of!". Manic nodded apologetically "That's me. I'm sorry. Look, can you tell me who's texting me?". Chuck went over to the phone "Tania, 911" "That's my daughter. I need to text her back" "No, that's not happening". Manic shook his head "What? It's 911. That means it's an emergency" "You're not making demands here, Manic. You're not appreciating the gravity of th-".
The phone started to ring "Okay, look, she's trying to video chat me now. Something might be wrong. Let me talk to her. Please". Chuck sighs and answered the phone and points it at Manic keeping his restraints out of view. Manic smiled "Tania, are you okay? What's the emergency?" "I can't find my soccer shoes". Chuck titled his head condescendingly. Manic ignores him "What?" "I have a game tomorrow" "Hey, Manic, I know that they're there. Can you just walk the phone around the house?" Komi asked. Manic shook his head "No, I can't do that right now" "Why not?" "I'm… sick". Chuck gestured for him to hurry up "Hey, can you just maybe look around later and call me back? Please? Thank you". The phone shows Tania again "Bye, Daddy!" "Bye, peanut!" "Feel better!". Komi and Remington appeared "Yeah, feel better, buddy!". They hung up and Manic nodded to Chuck "I'm sorry. It said emergency. You know how kids are". Arthur looked to Lah "Lah, I want to help you" "She doesn't need your help. I know how to save her" "Oh, really? How?". Lah crossed her arms "Isabella" "For the last 30 years, she's been down there absorbing quantum energy. We can extract that energy. We can use it to repair Lah's molecular structure". Arthur clearly didn't like this "Extract it? Are you insane? That would rip Bella apart" "You don't know that. I'm gonna fire up your tunnel. When Bella's location pops into Manic's head he's gonna give it to me or I'm gonna turn him over to the FBI" "What?". Chuck threw a red disc at the chamber shrinking it "And Arthur is going to stay here in case I need his help" "Like hell I would help you!". Lah scowled at him "You'll do whatever I say" "You're gonna kill Bella" "I'd be more worried about yourself". Arthur desperately fought against his restraints "Goddamn it, Chuck!" he started to groan in pain. Mina watched him concerned "Dad?" "So, help me Gaia… the pills" "It's his heart! He needs his pills! Please, Doctor Thorndyke. They're in the tin. Please" she gestured to the tin of mints on the table. Chuck stared at Arthur with a conflicted look, "He could die!" Mina yelled. Manic struggled "Help him, man! Come on!". Chuck ran over to the tin and opened it, huge ants jumped out and made Lah and Chuck back away. One of the ants bit through the restraints on Manic and the others "Thanks guys". Manic threw Arthur an earpiece. Mina screams at ah knocking her over before grabbing the lab. The three run as the ants keep the two of them at bay.
