Manic was now standing near the pod with Mina "Alright, first you're gonna see all kinds of lights and it's gonna get really trippy but then it's gonna turn black and silent. Really silent" "Manic, I'll be fine" "I'm just saying because I've been down there". Manic's phone rang "Uh, sorry, I have to take this". He walked away and answered his phone "Hey, man, you coming?" "No, I'm not, but you know what? The ghost girl is. And you know what? The Feds, they know where you are". Manic froze "What?" "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, man. They gave me some truth serum. And then all of a sudden, I started talkin all honestly. Like, I hate the way that you load the dishwasher. I hate it. But you need to go home because the feds are probably going there now! And by the way who puts the plates on the top rack? They don't go there!". Manic hung up and ran back to Arthur and Mina "We gotta go now. Lah knows where we are. So does the FBI" "What? How?". Manic sighed "I told Max where we are" "You what?" "I needed to help him with the Karapetyan proposal" "Oh, Gaia!". Manic nodded "I know. I'm sorry. But I needed to land that account otherwise I'd lose the business! Do you know how hard it is for ex-cons to find work these days?". Arthur groaned "Damn it" they ran back to the console and start pulling levers "90 seconds to close the aperture!" "You have to depolarize the coils first!". Manic sighed "I'm really sorry… but the, um, FBI is coming to my place, so I have to go. Can I borrow the medallion?". Arthur glared at him before continuing work on the console. Manic took out the medallion "I'm just gonna borrow the medallion. I'll come back. Just tell me where you'll be". Mine glanced at him "Don't bother" "What?" "We'll come and get the medallion from you as soon as we've found my mum". Manic looked hurt "Mina-" "Manic, just go!". Manic hesitantly runs away, he puts on his suit and then uses the medallion to shrink down.
Komi, Tania and Remington entered Manic's house "Manic?" "Daddy?" "It's us, buddy!". The three went up the stairs "We're here for Tania's shoes!" "He must be resting" "Honey, why don't you go upstairs and look under the bed?". Tania ran up "Daddy, you upstairs? Daddy". Remington notices a plant that was partially eaten. Tania opens the upstairs bathroom and finds the ant inside. She smiles when she hears the door bang open downstairs. Komi and Remington run to the door to find Larry with agent "Again?" "You people have no shame!". Larry runs to the stairs, but Tania gets in his way "Daddy's super sick!" "I'll see about that!" "Tania, let the man by!" Komi told her. Tania didn't move "He says he doesn't want anyone else to get sick" "I'll take my chances, sweetie" "He barfed. Like a lot". Larry ran past her, "No!". He races up the stairs, but the bathroom opens to reveal Manic in a bathrobe "Larry! What're you doing here?" "Manic" "Sorry. I'm just really sick". Tania stared at him in surprise before looking up at Larry "I told you". Manic suddenly gagged "Sorry. Not done!". He goes back into the bathroom and Larry hears retching.
Arthur and Mina exit the lab "I'll start the van. You get the lab" he shrinks it down but there were armed units behind it "Freeze! You're surrounded". A car arrived and the agent Prank called walks out "Arthur and Mina Mongoose, you're under arrest".
Manic was in the living room with an agent examining his tag. Komi was sitting on the couch "This is harassment" "Actually, it's not" Remington said sitting next to her. Komi ignored him "What does the FBI even stand for? Forever Bothering Individuals?" she looks pleased with her line but no one else was impressed. Remington supportively patted her back. The agent stood up facing Larry "His monitor checks out" "Damn it!". Manic shrugged "I'm so sorry I didn't break the law". A bear walks in "We got them, sir. Arthur and Mina Mongoose are in custody" "Seriously? Yes!". He then noticed Manic staring blankly ahead of him "Oh, yeah, I'm sorry, Manic. They're your friends. That's insensitive. I just really needed a win, you know? Anyway, I'll be back later for the official end of your sentence! Sorry for misjudging you, pal. You should feel great about yourself".
As Arthur and Mina are taken to a car the human agent goes over to a van and takes the lab without being seen. He walks over to his hidden car, but Lah appears and knocks him out. She takes the lab and escapes.
Manic was in the attic leaning against the front of the bed. Tania entered and Manic looked up at her "Hey. Thanks for covering for me" "Sure". She sits beside him "So… how long have you been superheroing again?". Manic chuckles "Not long. It just sort of happened. I'm sorry for lying to you and I'm sorry for risking everything" "Daddy, it's okay". Manic shook his head "It's not. I do some dumb things and the people that I love the most pay the price. Mainly you" "Trying to help people isn't dumb". Manic grunts "Well, I screw it up just about every time" "So, maybe you just need someone watching your back, like a partner". Manic shrugged "Well, she's made it clear that's about the last thing she wants" "Who?" "Mina". Manic noticed Tania looked disappointed "Wait, who did you think?" "Me". Manic smirked "You?" "Don't laugh. I'd be a great partner" "Aw, peanut. Aw. You would be awesome. And if I let you, I would be a terrible dad". She shrugged "Fine. Then have Mina be your partner. She's smart. You gonna go help her? I think you should help her". Manic nodded "I wish I could, but I don't know how I could help her without hurting you". Tania smiles supportively "You can do it. You can do anything. You are the world's greatest grandma". Manic laughs and hugs her.
A monkey agent handcuffed Mina and Arthur to a table in an interrogation room "Agent Larry will see you in an hour" "An hour? We don't have an hour" "Oh, you got somewhere else to be?" he left. Mina suddenly takes a hairpin out of her mouth. Arthur smirked "Oh, now, that's my girl". Mina picked the locks and freed herself and she does the same to Arthur "Alright, what's our plan?". Mina takes out a disc "To shrink that wall" "It looks load-bearing. The ceiling could collapse" "Then we run like hell". Arthur nodded "Now, I estimate 15-20 agents on the floor" "Roughly five times that in the building at large" "They're all heavily armed". Mina sighed "Not great odds" "You got any better ideas?" "No. And I'm not giving up on Mum". Arthur smiled warmly "She'd be so proud of you". They get up and Mina is ready to throw the disc "One…. Two…". Mina's medallion and suit suddenly appeared on the table. They stare at it and then notice ants around the ceiling light "Manic?" "What're you two just standing around for? We gotta go find that lab" "What about me?" Arthur asked. An FBI uniform with a hat and glasses appeared "Perfect" "Hurry up and get dressed. We don't have much time". Arthur gets dressed and exits the room with Mini-Mina flying next to him. They get out the back entrance "Now what?" "You're asking me?". A van suddenly appeared in front of them "Get in!" Manic yelled from the driver's seat. Manic nods to Mina "Hi" "Hi". The two gaze at each other and Arthur leans forward "Uh, excuse me. Are we planning on leaving soon or are you two gonna keep staring at each other until they start shooting at us?". Manic nods "Yeah" they drive away not noticing two of Prank's men watching them from a car. Arthur hesitantly lowers his head "Thank you" "You're welcome. So, uh, how do we find the lab?" "After we lost it the first time I put on a new tracker of sorts". The two look out and a massive swarm of ants form into an arrow pointing ahead "Well, that'll work" Manic said. They follow the ants through the city until going behind a warehouse finding the lab.
Lah watched Chuck working on the chamber "Is it ready or not?" "We can begin the extraction process. Listen, Lah. This whole thing could be very dangerous. Maybe we should-" "Maybe we should what? Wait? I've got days until I'm dead. We're doing this, Chuck. Now".
In the van Arthur was checking a device "Energy readings show they have not used the tunnel yet" "We don't have much time before Mum's location shift and we lose her". Arthur sighed "I'll have to dive". Mina turned to him in surprise "What?" "The only chance we got is if the two of you are out here together, protecting the tunnel. Let me do this, Mina. Please. Let me get her". Mina thinks to herself when they realise a van drive up next to them. Mina rolls down her window and sees Max in the other van "What's up?". Mina frowns and looks to Manic who shrugs "I had him follow us. I thought we could use some help".
Manic watched the lab from the window of a building. He could see everything from here "Alright. I'm in position. The ants are headed in" "Copy that" "Keep your eyes peeled, Manny".
Max was waiting in the van with Mina "Hey, you wanna Pez" "No" "Tania gave me this for my birthday. By the way I love that suit!". Mina smirked "Thanks, man" "I wish I had a suit. Or at least a medallion. It'd be fun".
Chuck pulls a lever and the machine powers up, he looks hopeful before the machine suddenly stopped. Lah stared confused "What is it?" "I don't know". Chuck looks under the desk and sees ants swarming the circuits "It's them" "They can't be far". She leaves through a wall, Chuck walks into the main part of the lab and finds himself surrounded by giant ants. He backs away "Alright, Arthur. Arthur?". The doors opened and Arthur entered in a high-tech white suit. Chuck sighed "I just wanted to save Lah. She's facing death or something more terrible. She's afraid" "I'll help you find a cure when I get back. I promise. Together, we'll figure something out". Chuck slowly nodded "Good luck, Arthur" "Thanks, Chuck. Now, I'm gonna need you to step back". The ants start making Chuck back away into a lift. Arthur hands a device to one of the ants before entering a pod "Time remaining, 15 minutes".
Manic continued to keep watch "You see her yet, Manic" "No, nothing yet". Lah in her knight form appeared next to him and threw him through a wall. Manic got to his feet and hit the dial on his medallion but nothing happened. Lah advanced on him "Call off the ants, Manic" "Oh, boy". Manic runs for it "Can I get a status report cause I got some serious ghost problems here!"
Arthur powers up the machine and the pod slowly enters the quantum tunnel. He takes a breath "Ready to dive. Mina, in case I don't make it-" "Don't. Don't say that. I can't lose you, too". Arthur pauses "I love you, Mina". He pulls a switch and the pod launches into the tunnel and starts to shrink.
Manic kept running "Guys, everything's bad over here. Can you please-" Lah appears in front of him and kicks him down. She's about to finish him but she sees the lab shrink outside. She looks out and the van drives up to the lab and Max grabs it. An ant runs over and puts the device Arthur gave him to Max as well. Manic smirked "Misdirection. One of the first things they teach you at Online Close-up Magic University". He then shrinks and escapes and Lah watches the van drive away "NO!".
Max holds the lab tight "Plan worked. We got it, Manny!" "Meet us at the rendezvous point" "Okay, on my way". Mina stops the van when he spots Prank and his men in three cars ahead of them "Oh, no. Really? This guy again? Change of plans". She stomps down on the accelerator, but she reverses. She spins around and races off with Prank giving chase "I want that lab, boys, whatever it takes". They race down the street and one of the cars gets next to the van "Hang on". Mina pulls a lever and the van shrinks causing the veering car to drive past and crash into a wall. Mina then drives underneath another car and unshrinks throwing the car aside "Mina, what're you doing. You're heading away from the rendezvous point" "Don't worry, I'm taking these guys on the scenic route". Mina drives towards a narrow zig rag road and shrinks. She is able to make it through while the other cars crash. One crashed close to the van making Max panic "Oh, Gaia! Oh, Gaia! We're gonna die! We're gonna die!" Mina is able to avoid the debris.
Arthur's pod continues to speed past molecules as he continues to shrink. It eventually stops "Signal lost" "What the hell are they doing up there?". He recalibrates when he notices micro-organisms swim over him. Arthur smiles "You never said it was so beautiful, Manic". One of them starts getting very close to the pod making Arthur look worried "Okay, any time now" "Recalibrating" "Come on" "Signal restored". Arthur powers up the pod and it starts shrinking again.
