Chapter 124: Power of Sol - Part 6

Last time on Sonic the Hedgehog, Sally and Silver were on their way to destroy the last of the Eyes of Solaris, a depressed Silver decides to separate from Sally, causing him to be confronted by a manipulative Mephiles who was waiting for the right opportunity to strike. After speaking with an unlikely ally in Jenni Robotnik, Sally finds Silver corrupted by his own inner demons...

End of the World

*Sally looked on as she saw Silver, now covered in a dark aura, his glowing white not unlike Dark Sonic from before. But as well as he, she saw her friends, Agatha and Shadow at the fore front, having saved her from Silver's attempt at her life.*

Sally: "Agatha... Shadow..."

Agatha: "Seems we missed quite the party..."

Amy: "What happened to Silver? Why is he...like Dark Sonic?"

Gamma: "Warning. Corruption levels at critical. Full power engaged."

Amelia: "Gamma's not kidding... Whatever happened to him, he's not going to listen to reason..."

Shadow: "Then we'll just have to beat him senseless."

Mephiles: "How entertaining..."

*The group turn and see Mephiles reappear from the shadows, arms crossed and what could be assumed to be a wide smirk on his face, despite lacking a mouth. Agatha, Amy, and Shadow readied themselves.*

Mephiles: "Silver proved a most valuable audience. His unrelenting power is a pleasing side effect of his enticing his inner turmoil, bringing him to the side of darkness."

Agatha: "That answers what happened to him... Now answer me this... What is stopping us from just obliterating the very ground you stand on you crystalline freak show!?"

Mephiles: "The fact that what you see before you is but a mere projection. An illusion of sorts. And the fact you have much...much worse things to deal with. Hehehe... Hahahaha!"

*Agatha raises an eyebrow before being telepathically grabbed by the throat and floated away from the group before being tossed to the side by Dark Silver.*

Shadow: "Gamma! Get Amelia out of here! You two won't be much help in this fight!"

Gamma: "Affirmative."

*Gamma grabs the Tails Doll and starts speeding away from the fight. Before Dark Silver could grab Gamma, Shadow comes in with a spin dash, getting above the corrupt hedgehog before slamming an axe kick on his head to send him straight into the ground.*

Amy: "This is crazy! Wake up, you dolt! We're your friends!"

*Amy comes in from above with her hammer, aiming to clonk Silver on the head with it to wake him up. But this does nothing to him as he just grabs Amy's hammer and forcefully sends her flying into a nearby building.*

Mephiles: "How pathetic... You can't even raise your power against your friend..."

Shadow: "They can't... But I can."

*Shadow takes off his inhibitor rings, his red aura covering his body as he warps at Silver, engaging him in close quarters combat. The two hedgehogs take to the air and cause shockwaves from each impact, shattering the glass of the buildings around them. Sally looks up before growling.*

Sally: "Darn it all... If only I had the Sword of Acorns, I could try using that to purify Silver... Especially since that was what Tails did when he fought Dark Sonic... Think Sally, think... What could you try...?"

*As Sally began to think hard on how to help at a time like this, Shadow continued his fight with Silver. Despite his bravado, even Shadow could not bring himself to go all out on Silver, or else risk killing him. It was up to him to beat the evil out of him, but he wasn't sure just how long he could hold out. ...And then, a small miracle... A big hammer slams into Silver's face before intense gravity slammed Silver into a crater and forced him on his knees. Paladin Amy and Agatha had joined the fray.*

Agatha: "I recommend you take a time out, Silver."

Shadow: "...You have a super form now?"

Amy: "Oh don't sound so angry, Shadow. I can't help if I want to help my friends~"

Shadow: "Hmph... I hope this doesn't become a Super form bargain sale..."

Agatha: "And if it does?"

*Shadow rolls his eyes before seeing Silver struggle against Agatha's gravity attack before letting out a roar and breaking free.*

Shadow: "We'll have to talk later!"

Agatha: "Oh boy..."

*Amy and Shadow lead the charge by flying at Silver, Shadow charging a Chaos Spear and Amy having her hammer and shield ready. Silver glares at the two before warp behind them and going for a spin kick at Amy first. Amy blocks with her shield but gets sent down to the ground, forcing her into a crater, though still standing.*

Amy: "Ack... Any more of those and my legs'll feel like jelly..."

*Silver turns to Shadow, aiming to strike at him but is almost struck by a spike of ice tossed by Agatha.*

Agatha: "Enough of this foolishness! Silver! Listen to me carefully! What would Gold or Bronze say if they saw you like this!? You wanted to save your future, right!?"

*Silver glares at Agatha before flying at her, aiming to punch her in the face before warping. Confused, Agatha looks around before getting slugged in the stomach, the force knocking her hat off and causing her to cough.*

Agatha: "...S-Silver... Just what is eating at you...?"

*Silver charges up a sphere of Chaos energy and tosses it, it exploding right on Agatha and forcing her to the ground.*

Sally: "Agatha!"

*Sally runs to Agatha's side as she helps her sit up.*

Agatha: "Gh... Don't worry... Immortal, remember? Injuries like this just hurt..."

Sally: "Yeah, but we need you to bring Blaze back, so don't do anything risky..."

Agatha: "Right... But... Why is it that speaking to him did nothing? It worked with Sonic...right...?"

*Sally growled, looking around for anything that could help before seeing a flying Iblis creature perched on a window.*

Sally: "...Crazy plan time."

Agatha: "Wait what?"

*Sally runs over to the Iblis creature and takes it by surprise, getting on its back and starts to steer it.*

Agatha: "Sally! Are you insane!?"

Sally: "If Sonic can play risky... Then so can I..."

*Sally starts steering the creature through the air, closing in on Shadow and Silver fighting. Shadow was unable to hold his empowered form for much longer, evident by his slowed pace and playing defense. Amy comes in with dual hammers to try to save Shadow, but she is telepathically grabbed and held in place before Silver started to crush Amy. Amy began to struggle before she started screaming in pain, feeling some of her bones starting to waver under the pressure. As Silver continued to put the squeeze on Amy, he is suddenly rammed into by Sally and the Iblis creature, causing him to crash to the ground with Sally rolling from the impact.*

Sally: "Ow... Okay... Not my smartest idea..."

*Sally rubbed her head as she sat up, looking over to Silver as he stood up. Her hard light blades came out as she glared at Silver.*

Sally: "Silver. Listen to me right now... I know you are still in there... Don't let Solaris win... We are Mobius' only hope right now and we need you... Gold needs you..."

*Silver rushes over to Sally and punches her in the stomach, forcing her onto her knees as she held her gut. But she stayed defiant, standing back up.*

Sally: "You told me... That you wanted to save your future... A future you grew up in... I know you lost a lot... But you can still change that..."

*Sally is kicked away, then grabbed with telepathy and slammed against the wall, breaking through before Silver approaches and grabs Sally by the neck.*

Sally: "Gold... Bronze... Myself... A-And your friends... We need you... Silver... Please..."

Silver: "...S-Sa...lly..."

*Silver's grip loosens before he drops Sally entirely, starting to clench his head.*

Silver: "Th... The future... Got to save... My future... M-My family... Ev...eryone... Is counting on me...! I won't... I WON'T GIVE UP NOW!"

*Silver began to let loose a roar as his Chaos energy surged through him, dispelling the Eye of Solaris out of him. The eye floats just above, clear for Silver to junk a piece of debris at it and destroy it. He then fell to the ground, exhausted as he began to pant.*

Sally: "S-Silver...?"

Silver: "...I... Amy... Shadow... Agatha... I...just fell into darkness so easily... I almost...ruined my own future..."

*Sally looks at Silver, approaching him before hugging him.*

Sally: "We haven't lost yet... So don't give up now... Please..."

Silver: "R...Right... There's still time to set right what went wrong..."

*Silver helps Sally to her feet before they rejoined the others. Though initially cautious, the heroes all breathe a sigh of relief once they see Silver back to normal.*

Amy: "Silver... You're back..."

Silver: "Y-Yeah... I'm sorry... For everything... And for dragging you all into this..."

Shadow: "Hmph. We dragged ourselves into this..."

Agatha: "Or rather Mephiles did..."

*Agatha stood up, no longer feeling any interference.*

Agatha: "Alright... It is time... Blaze we need-"

*Agatha is interrupted as a blast of energy goes through her chest, causing her to collapse as Mephiles stood some distance behind her.*

Mephiles: "...Did you think I was going to let you win that easily?"

Sally: "AGATHA!"

Amy: "No! We were so close!"

Mephiles: "Close... But not close enough..."

*Mephiles begins to laugh before the area shifts, time and space distorting as the group is brought...to Solaris himself, his gigantic form towering over the Mobians.*

Solaris: "I could have ended you all in an instant, but what would be the fun in that? Giving you even the scrap of hope and snatching it away is far more entertaining..."

Shadow: "Monster..."

Amelia: "Sh-Shadow! The wall of darkness is closing in! It has reached GUN Fortress! It is now or nev-"

*Tails Doll suddenly flops to the ground as communication with GUN ceases. Tails Doll then comes to life and starts to silently panic in worry over Amelia.*

Shadow: "N-No... No... Not again... I..."

Sally: "Shadow! Snap out of it! It isn't too late! Stay strong!"

*Sally turns to Solaris as she herself started to feel the weight of the situation.*

Sally: "...We're going to need all the strength we can muster now..."
