"Automobile Accident"

George sighed as Lorraine peeked at his Creative Writing assignment.

"I don't want to write about a car wreck."

"Then don't. That's the creative part of it, right?"

"That's just it: I'm thinking too literally."

Lorraine put his coffee mug on the desk, rubbing his shoulders as his head fell into his hands. Another publisher's rejection hadn't helped with the stagnation.

"What about bumper cars at the pier? You kept quoting me the damages to your 'car' every time you hit me."

George began to smile. He pulled Lorraine into his lap.

"Have we settled on those claims yet?"

"No."
