Closing Shift at Cafe 80's

"Hey, listen, Marlene," – Marlene glared at Griff as he leaned into the counter – "There's that dance at school tonight, right? Now that my bail's all paid, I figure I'd cut you a break and give you the honor of goin' with the best-looking guy in school."

"Yeah, well, I'm busy."

"Doin' what?"

She put his Pepsi down a little harder than necessary.

"Working."

"Pfft. You know one video call to my dad means you're off tonight. C'mon."

Marlene huffed, changing the TV stations.

Why was she smiling?

"Are you gonna leave my brother alone?"

"Depends. You wearin' those chrome heels?"
