Inside his tent at Eagle division, his military councilor and friend Mujin (Mu-jun) removed the bandages that Shisi had wrapped around his upper torso while he sat stiffly, talking about how he had received the wound.
"Who patched you up, It's a total mess, although your wound looks like it's healing faster, the bandaging is horrendous. Any other person might have died of this already." Mujin says holding the bloody cloth out to him.
Taking the bandage from Mujin's hand, he thinks about Shisi's lack of ability to apply a proper bandage and could feel a smile coming to his face as he looks down at the fabric. When Mujin asked him why he was smiling, it brought him from his musing to sit up straighter and carefully folding up the used bandage.
"It's nothing"
"There's something you're not telling me."
"Stay away from me."
Pushing his friend away roughly to get him out of his space, he reached over and picked up the jar of cotton rose ointment, handing it to Mujin.
"A Tang girl." Mujin exclaims in question and he ignores him.
"I was told to put this on two to three times a day to help with the healing." Mujin who is still looking at him, takes the jar and opens it letting a pleasant smell to be released.
"Was she the one who put this medicine and bandage on you; Did she give you this, what is it called."
"Cotton Rose Ointment." He says looking at the jar in his friend's hand.
"That's not a common or easy to make healing ointment." Mujin says impressed and starts to work it onto his wound.
As Mujin closed the jar, Su Yishe hurried into the tent telling Sun that Tu Kashe(Tu Ka-shu) was coming. Quickly Mujin put away anything that could show Sun was hurt, while Sun changed into a new pair of clothes and hid the bloody bandage that was use to wrap his back. Once everything is put away Sun took a seat in his command chair and waited for the General of Bear Army to enter the yurt.
"Sun" A large black clothed round man laughed as he walked into the yurt and towards him while chewing on a piece of lamb jerky.
"So you're still breathing. I'm very glad" The man says to him as he places his right hand over his heart mocking him, before taking his hand while pointing at him and waving it in front of his face as if to see if he can see him.
"Your eyes look like there're in pain"
"Get to the point"
"Put away the attitude, Do you think I want to be here? The Great Khan sent my Bear Army here, to go to Shuozhou with you to save you from future defeat." Tu Kashe says siting on the rim of his fire ring in the center of the tent.
"Anything else?" He says to the man, making it seem as if he is bored.
"Yes, military orders from Grate Khan." Tu Kashe says smugly and throws a rolled hide to him. Grabbing the hide from mid air, Sun stands and bows with his hand over his heart in acceptance. Opening the hide he reads that his father had written.
"The Great Khan is putting Bear Army in charge; we will be taking full charge of this task. Which means, every move of everybody in the Eagle Army will be reported to me." Tu Kashe says gleefully.
"Well, reciprocity is a basic rule of social interaction. Will you report what's going on with the Bear Division to us?" Mujin asks next to him, while he feels his contempt growing.
"Not according to that"
"You may leave, where were we just now?" He looks to Mujin while sitting down, dismissing Tu Kashe in an off handed manor. Mujin getting the hint, starts coming up with topics the show Tu Kashe that they don't really care why he's there.
"Oh, Baruch (Ba-ruesh) said he can draw a bow now, and wants to join next year's hunting. Kelsang (Kel-song) wants to learn riding and shooting, but her mom won't allow her. Which is fair, girls don't learn such things."
"I'll go talk to her mom and let her know I'll allow it." He tells Mujin as if it's no problem.
"You will!" Mujin says in surprise, as Tu Kashe looks back and forth between them as the talk. Speaking up finally having enough of the conversation they are having. Before finally having enough of being ignored and says enough, that he was leaving while sounding aspirated at the two men left in the yurt.
"It seems someone is saying things to the Great Khan again. Tu Kashe never likes to take orders from you. Instead of helping us, he just wants to take our credit. It's a no brainer to figure out who's behind this"
"If one failure could hold him back Mujin, he would not be Shar." He says while resting an elbow on his leg and looks up to his friend.
"By the way, you said you'll allow girls to learn riding and shooting?" Mujin asks to see if he was telling the truth or just trying to annoy Tu Kashe.
"Yes, I'll allow it"
With a smile and looks over to the slightly showing blue fabric that Shisi used to bandage him, before looking back to Mujin and seeing his unsure questioning face.
