My chimera story was actually supposed to be this chapter here, which do you like better?
I think I am leaning towards this one.
"Are you sure, Lord Hokage?" Yugao Uzuki asked the Hokage, stunned by his words.
The Old man sighed. "You have suffered a great loss, my dear, I cannot blame you for wanting to quit ANBU. However, I have an assignment for you that will really help the village and perhaps give you some closure."
"But to be a teacher, to Rai Uzumaki... to be his Sensei! Why him?"
"He aims to become partners with Ino Yamanaka, to mix tracking and capture. He is and will become a skilled Medic, and Ino is a trained capture Ninja. Ino will be learning from Anko, who will teach her interrogation tactics and posions and taijutsu to help her keep herself strong. The boy lacks a good teacher for the more martial aspects of being a Ninja. I think you can help, to pass on your skills. Taijutsu, tracking, field tactics and of course Kenjutsu. You are one of my most skillful ANBU members, and I think you would be a good teacher for him.
As to why him specifically... I owe him. I wanted to put him down when I first saw him, I considered him a threat when it was clear he was no threat. I want to make amends while I still can. He does not have Jiraiya as Naruto does, he has none of his father's techniques or anything of the sort. All I can do is set up for him a great sensei, to guide him on the path of being a shinobi. So, with that in mind, can I ask you to help me?"
The girl sighed. "I will train him for six months... six months and then I will move into the Medical division."
"That is all I would ask of you. From there, if all goes well, he very well might enter ANBU, but I need him ready and worthy."
She smiled, then her eyes hardened. "You want him to use his chains to monitor Naruto, don't you?"
The Hokage's eyes hardened. "I am not a young man, someone will have to monitor Naruto when I pass. Jiraiya will never always be around, Kakashi is lazy and frankly lacks the raw power. I checked the Testing, Soon enough Rai will have his full Uzumaki heritage. He will have vast chakra levels, it will only be a matter of time now that he has his chains. He may be the only person who can monitor Naruto period. Your overall skills but also your sealing skills are why I want you to train him, get him started so he can become Naruto's handler. They will give him the base he needs to overcome Naruto, in the years to come."
Yugao, watching the chunin exams, smiled at the sight of Ino and Naruto's victories. "They've made serious improvements, the both of them. They have bright futures." Her eyes turned then to Rai, who was sitting next to Ino, his aura stronger than it had been just a month before. She hypothesized that awakening his chakra chains had magnified his chakra greatly, as had his training. He, and his girlfriend, looked much more muscular, leaner, and stronger. She knew they were taking their training seriously, which was good thing as far as she was concerned. If she was going to train the boy, and mold him into a powerful shinobi, hard work was an absolute need. "I will introduce myself later, during Ino's next match..."
"""
Shikamaru's match was annoying, he defeated Temari but he was so lazy and forfeited that both Ino and Rai wanted to kick him in his face. As for Sasuke, he was still late... and Kankuro forfeited rather than fight Gaara, and so, Ino was to face Naruto! The girl kissed Rai once more, then shot down alongside Naruto and got into her position. She fell into a low stance, her chakra ready and extended, getting a feel for Naruto's chakra. He felt so vast, an endless well of power ten times greater than the Hokage's. Plus there was the power inside, the red power she knew he had, that Rai could not speak of... she knew that whatever it was, it was a power unlike anything else, if Naruto unleashed it, he would be unbeatable... she needed to be swift and cruel to win here.
The moment they were given the go, Ino ran through her handsigns, dodging Naruto's immediate sword strikes with her healing evasion training given to her by Rai. She barely managed to evade him when her jutsu was complete. "Hell's Viewing." She whispered and Naruto went still, paling and shivering. Feeling bad, she grabbed her own blade and as hard as she was able, hit him in a vital spot on his head, knocking him out cold. He collapsed into her arms and she sighed, feeling very, very bad. "Medic, please."
A medic came and carried the boy away, she turned to Genma, the proctor. "Genjutsu, he couldn't break it and I knocked him out."
The man nodded. "Victory, Ino Yamanaka!"
Sighing, the girl hurried to her boyfriend, sort of ashamed. Rai took one look at her face and scowled. "It was a battle, everything was free game, Naruto sucks as genjutsu, we planned for that remember?"
"You didn't see the horror in his face... I wonder what he saw."
"Nothing good." Rai replied and then, naturally, that was when Sasuke appeared on the field in an annoyingly dramatic way with Kakashi at his back. "What an idiot... I hope he kicks Gaara's ass just so you can kick his. You were smart, reserving your chakra for your final battle."
She shivered. "I am glad he's the one fighting Gaara, his chakra is insane... hopefully, no matter the victor, they are too weak to go up against me. I am no powerhouse."
"You will be though, Ino... you will be."
Sasuke's battle was incredible, both annoying and powerful. Ino frowned the whole time. "He stole Lee's entire fighting style, all that hard work stolen in mere moments... a month of training, that has to blow."
"He will be called a prodigy for mastering what his eyes give him for free... kind of sucks." Rai replied as Sasuke danced around Gaara's sand, knocking him for a loop until Gaara made his barrier. Then Sasuke ran up a wall and created visible lightning chakra that chirped like a bird. "What is that?" He gaped.
"Such chakra, I can feel it from here, so not fair!"
And then, the moment Sasuke rammed it home, Gaara screamed about blood. The sand barrier dissolved and a Genjutsu appeared to cascade as feathers around them. Both Rai and Ino broke it, their last week having been spent on casting and breaking Genjutsu. They watched as The Sand Siblings shot over to Gaara with their sensei, taking him away with Sasuke following after.
Standing tall, Ino and Rai ran to the civilians and without the need for instruction moved into action. Only to be stopped by a woman with purple hair as she effortlessly, bisected two men with her blade. "Rai, protect Ino while she awakens any ninja she sees. She is a better sensor than you and your defense is better with those chains... and meet up with me when this thing is over. The Hokage wanted me to teach you, prove your worth."
Rai nodded and Ino smirked. "See, told you someone would recognize your worth, Rai!"
Chains, four powerful chains made of grey glowing chakra, erupted from her boyfriend's back. " Let's get to kicking ass and saving lives. Ino, get to searching, I will keep you safe." He turned to the woman. "Who are you?"
"Yugoa Uzuki, Jonin. Now, go!"
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a blast to write.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
