Chapter 15 - Burn it Down
Nezumi had decided that she was going to do a little work on her own. She was so protective of Touya. Her baby. Her Touya. The despicable man that was supposed to be his father needed to be knocked down a few pegs. It irked her so much that he kept jumping status and popularity. No one knew the dark secrets that he had in his closet. Could the man have changed? Maybe. But did she care? Nope. Not one little bit. The damage he had done to Touya, he deserved to be punished to the fullest extent of her imagination.
Using her quirk, she shifted into a bird and flew to the Todoroki home. She sat on a branch in the garden and watched through the window as Touya's brothers and sister got ready to leave for their day. Each child greeted their mother warmly while they each but Fuyumi either did not greet Enji or just stared him down. He really made enemies of his own children. Fuyumi was just delusional about her father. She wanted the perfect little family dynamic that she deluded herself into believing what the news said about Endeavor. It was disgusting.
When the family left the domicile, leaving poor Rei alone, Nezumi moved to the window and pecked on it. Rei noticed her little bird form and opened the window. The ice quirk user lowered her hand and the little wren hopped on it and chirped. She stroked its feathers lovingly. It wasn't long before tears splashed from her eyes. Memories would overwhelm her when she was alone. Her sweet Touya had been everything to her. And her husband took him from her. His abuse and neglect of the boy broke him and drove him to keep pushing to get his father's attention. To earn his father's love and approval. It hurt her so much. She was so absorbed in her memories she never felt the little bird move from her.
"Rei-san." Nezumi said when she shifted.
Nezumi had shifted to a winged form. She had huge white wings. It made her seem to be an Angel. Rei looked up at the woman that had appeared in her sitting room. Where did the little bird go? She noticed that she was an Angel. She was so beautiful, and Rei was contemplating whether or not she was hallucinating.
"Rei-san, I am Nezumi. I am here because of Touya." Nezumi explained, "I think it is time for you to join him."
Rei nodded. She wanted to leave this life. What of her other children? They would be fine. They could protect themselves and they did not need her anymore. She needed them more than they needed her. Her Touya, her little Touya, she would be with him again. She watched as the Angel stood and lit the room around her in blue flames. Then she held out her hand and Rei accepted it. Nezumi lifted her and shot into the air. Rei fell slack within moments. She was at peace and dreaming of reuniting with her first born and first love. A mother's first true love was always her first child. And her little Touya was ripped away from her. She was glad to go.
Nezumi watched as the Todoroki home blazed and when the firefighters arrived, she left with a sleeping Rei in her arms. Phase one was complete. It would not be too long before she would move her men from the world of villains, and she would take down the world of heroes. It was all coming to fruition.
