Chapter 16 - Enji Todoroki (Endeavor)
Endeavor looked at the charred remains of his home. It was gone. But more importantly she, Rei, was gone. Her body had not been found amongst the remains of the home, so she had not died in the fire. Did she do this? Had she finally snapped so far that she burned down their home? Or had an enemy of his find out where he lived and take his wife, setting his home ablaze? Either way it was sliced, this was his fault. He had been a terrible and abusive husband and a piss poor father. She had not deserved what he gave her during their marriage. He did not deserve her, and he did not deserve the family she had birthed him. But it was too late. Rei's mental health had declined under his abuse. His eldest son had burned alive because of his neglect and ignorance. His daughter lived in a delusion that he was the perfect father. His second son despised him to his very core. And his youngest? Shoto, wanted nothing to do with him. He had certainly fucked his family up. Royally.
His children arriving pulled him from his thoughts. Fuyumi screamed and cried and ran to her father. He embraced her. She was distraught and he was really trying to be a better father and better man. Natsuo asked him about Rei. Shoto seemed to only care for that as well. He told them what he could. Rei was likely alive. Her body was not amongst the rubble.
"So, our mother either did this herself" Natsuo glared, "Or one of your enemies found our home and took mother."
"Natsuo, stop." Fuyumi said in grief.
"Fuyumi, shut up." Shoto said icily, "Stop being naive and delusional."
Endeavor held his daughter tighter. She was coping the best way she knew how. This was not the time for anger or dissention. But he could not blame either of his sons. There was so much animosity and anger deep in their hearts towards him. He knew that there was not enough time for him to ever atone for what he had done to his family. And now with his beloved wife gone, he knew he would never be able to make any amends with his two youngest children.
AN: I know these are lining up like I should do these in bigger chapters, but I can't. Each one of these comes to me in small spurts so these are interconnected drabbles.
