So what was next?
Were we going to go separate ways after this party?
My initial plan was that I was going to use these few days to come up with something to save this marriage, but I couldn't come with anything. I had given up. I didn't think anything was going to work.
Edward seemed totally disinterested in everything related to me. He had done everything in his hand to ignore me in last three days. He was so done with me!
I loved his family, and also his extended family. They all were few of the nicest people I had ever met! I couldn't believe this might be the last time I was ever having dinner with them!
Edward was busy playing with his cousin Marcus's three year old son, and that worsened my heartache. I knew he'd be a wonderful Dad someday, and I was still in disbelief that I was on verge of losing everything.
"You know everyone in our family is very quick at approaching women, Bella," his Dad said to me, "I'm the only one who took three years to ask Esme out. I've the longest crush history in our family," he laughed.
"No, Edward has the longest crush history in the family," Rosalie said, "I thought he's never going to ask you out, Bella, but finally, my brother made it! Proud of you!" she patted Edward's back.
He looked at her as if he could kill her, right here, right now, but Rosalie didn't care!
What?
"What? Edward had a crush on Bella? This is news to me!" His Dad said.
"Oh yeah! He had a crush on her right from the first month they had met," she smiled.
But my mind hadn't processed it yet. What did she mean that he had a crush on me? He had never shown any kind of interest in me!
"I believe you guys had some kind of coding contest when you had started the school and you had beaten him there, right?" she asked.
"Yeah?" I said.
"Yeah so we were on a trip to Hawaii with family that year, and Edward told us about it, and that was the first time ever, like ever, he kept praising someone who had beaten him at something," she chuckled, "And that didn't end there. He couldn't stop talking about you!"
Well, what? He always told me like a sore loser that I got lucky there in that contest because there was something wrong with his... keyboard?
"Oh yes, yes, I remember that..." Kate, their cousin, joined her, "Then he had started blushing when we had begun to tease him... That was hilarious!"
"Oh that one?" Marcus laughed, "Even I remember that! That was Bella?"
"Yeah, of course!" Rosalie said.
"That was hilarious!"
"Wasn't it?" Rosalie laughed, and they gave a high-five to each other.
What the hell was going on?
Edward didn't react. He was busy eating his food. He had his poker face on, so I had no idea what he was thinking right now. Why was it difficult to guess what's going on his mind?
"Don't tell me he still hasn't told you anything about it yet?" Rosalie asked me as she noticed that I was looking confused.
I shook my head.
"Really, Edward? Come on!" she told Edward, but Edward was still busy eating his food! He didn't give any reaction at all.
"One more... I just remembered one more instance! He was on a roll on that trip," Kate said as remembered something, "You remember we went to that Tattoo shop and we teased him that, Edward, you should get a Tattoo with Bella's name. She'd be impressed!"
"And instead of his usual reaction of rolling eyes, he blurted out, Ummm... I don't think she likes Tattoos," she tried to mimic him.
"Oh, right, right! I remember it now." Rosalie laughed out loud.
"You don't think she likes Tattoos?" Marcus laughed and punched his shoulder jokingly, "Why don't we ask her directly? And if she likes them, you're getting one with her name!"
Again, there was no reaction from Edward, but everyone else laughed out loud.
"Please say Yes, Bella." His Mom said.
"Yeah that's an epic idea," Rosalie said, "It'd be fun to see him with a Tattoo. Please Bella, say Yes!"
This time there was some reaction from Edward! He sighed, shook his head and gulped his drink.
My head was still spinning. So he had a crush on me? How serious was that? I needed to think about this once I was alone!
"Please say Yes, Bella..." Rosalie said.
"Say yes... Say yes... Say yes..." They all joined together.
"Grow up, you all!" Edward shook his head with disbelief and said.
But nobody cared what he said as they continued.
"I do like Tattoos," I joked, "And I like big Tattoos, not the tiny ones," I winked.
Everyone cheered and Edward rolled his eyes.
It seemed he tried his best, but couldn't control his smile!
And that was the first time I realized how important his smile was to me!
