"It's time"
"Are you certain?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"This isn't like the other times, she's stronger. Not to mention the fact that they've interacted already."
"The latter was under our control, nothing was said or shown that we didn't orchestrate."
"And the former?"
"You know the goal, if she fails then she fails….now….release her, and this time….don't let her remember."
Thump…Thump…Thump
That's all she heard. No, that's all she felt. The constant thumping of her headache, the splashing of the waves against her boots, and the slow yet tense beating of her heart all seemed to drown out everything around her. Her mind had grown cloudy due to the pain, yet it didn't matter to her. As always the pain would end soon. All she needed was to strike down her copy.
Thump…Thump…Thump
"Damn," she whispered as she winced. The pain growing ever stronger perhaps due to her thinking of her target, or because said target drew closer. As her free hand rose to touch her temple the other clenched tighter around the grip of her bow.
Thump…Thump…Thump
Exhaling she refocused herself, for if she was to strike down her double she'd need to be faster, and a hand raised to her temple would only slow her draw. The archer gazed into the dense fog that surrounded her, waiting for an outline of the carrier to appear.
Thump..Thump..Thump
"I know your here," the archer said to herself as her idle hand found the bowstring. The pain ever increasing leading her to wishing she hadn't woken up this time. She couldn't wait to strike down the source of her agony, but wait, hadn't she done that before?
Thump..Thump..Thump
"There," she whispered as she heard the sound of water colliding with something to her left. Her grip tightened as she began to raise her bow, hoping that her double wouldn't just pass her by in the dense fog. Gazing into the white and gray expanse she readied herself, yet the pain continued to increase.
Thump..Thump..Thump
It was then that her vision became blurred causing a curse to slip out "fuck, not now, I can't falter now." Her head shook reflexively in the hopes of regaining some clarity. It was then that a shadow was glimpsed in the fog, and it was coming closer.
Thump
Seeing this the archer fully raised her bow, aligning it with the growing form before her. Her breath hitched as the incoming shape began to look more and more like the outline of a woman. The pain however did not hitch and instead it's intensity magnified. Overcome by the pain she failed to hear the electrical crackle that always sounded off when her arrow formed, yet it still formed. The pain unsteadied her, but the anticipation of killing her tormentor gave her resolve. She drew back the string as the shadowed form emerged…
Thump
The form that is, of a maid.
Thump
"Ent…"
Thump
Her eyes went wide
Thump
She gasped
Thump
Her fingers grew lax
Thump
"I-it can't be"
Thump
The arrow flew
Thump
"Belfast!"
