Chapter 03 – How The Story Being Made

.

Just like what he promised to himself, as Mordred Pendragon, he protected Guinevere to the point of concern.

When Mordred saved and protected Guinevere with little to no care for his own well-being (such as the ones when he saved and protected Guinevere in the Nation Foundation Festival where Guinevere fell off the ruins or constantly got kidnapped, barely being sold in the Auction of the black market), the people around them only thought that Mordred was just being overprotective.

However, it changed in 'that' certain kidnapping.

Like the hell, Mordred would forget about it. In this abduction attempt, Guinevere would get injured badly. Yes, the one where Tristan and Lancelot would clash against each other afterwards. Before it happened, Mordred had gone first to save Guinevere and mercilessly slaughtered them all without leaving any single soul.

Lancelot thought that he was too heartless and merciless, more than Tristan.

Tristan equally agreed and disagreed with his reckless movement. Don't get him wrong. Tristan agreed about his fast and efficient movement to save Guinevere but he disagreed with his move to kill them all mercilessly before trying to find out who the abductors were.

Merlin started to feel wary and tried to distance himself from Guinevere. The proof was, that not too long after the incident where Guinevere was kidnapped, Merlin and Arthur constantly sent him to the battlefield. Tristan and Lancelot also kept their distance from him.

It was totally fine. It was better this way, he told himself.

Mordred was fully aware that he was not someone who was meant to stay. He was going to be the Villain. He was both admired and feared by the people around him. The people around him started to call him the Red Knight because wherever he went, he would turn the battlefield into bloodshed and stain the ground with the red of his opponent's blood.

If there were someone who did not change, it would be Guinevere.

Holding her dolphin doll, Guinevere (14 years old) entered his room "Brother, will you leave and never come back again?".

Patting her head, Mordred smiled gently "What are you talking about? Of course, I will attend your wedding and Future King Arthur's Coronation".

Guinevere looked hesitant before she asked him "...I've heard about what happened to your love life from Godmother. Does it mean... you're not going to marry again?".

Without hesitation "No. Because there's only one woman I loved".

Intertwining their fingers, Guinevere looked up at him with teary eyes, as if praying wordlessly "Even so, I hope you can be happy".

Cupping her cheeks, he planted a tender kiss on her forehead "Don't worry about me. You just need to stay in the safe place and be happy, Guinevere".

Two Years Later...

In the garden, Arthur dropped one knee in front of Guinevere who cried happily. Mordred stood behind the pillar and smiled thinly.

"You didn't report to us that you will come back".

Looking behind over his shoulder, Mordred saw Tristan "You can think that I want to give a surprise for her. I will greet Godmother first before giving my report".

When Mordred walked passing him, Tristan put his hands into his pocket "I don't have to remind you, right?".

"Don't bother. I know my place", Mordred raised his hand "We have something in common, Tristan. I will never betray her, ever".

The Hydra Sin of Revenge looked straight at him with scrutinizing eyes before he huffed and they high-fived. After that, they hugged each other, patting each other's back in a friendly manner.

"Gwen was afraid that you will not make it in time, you know?".

Turning around, Mordred smiled thinly and bowed "Godmother".

Merlin waved her hand "Enough with the chit-chat. Greet your sister".

Mordred leaned his chin on his intertwined fingers above the butt of his sword's hilt "Do you know why did everyone call me the 'Red Knight', Assassin?".

The Assassin in front of him was the one who dared to poison Guinevere. Mordred thought that he remembered him. He was one of Dr. Nanami's underlings. He was tied neatly to his chair and with the gag around his mouth, there was no way he could answer him.

Twirling his dagger in his hand, Mordred looked at the blade of his dagger with a dangerous glint "Because for the sake of that woman, I am willing to dye the land with the red of my opponent's blood. That far I needed her by my side".

When Lancelot came in with Tristan, he covered his mouth, feeling nauseous "Merciless as usual".

Tristan sighed and put his hand on his hip "...Did you get something from him?".

"After torturing him for hours, yes", cleaning the blade of his dagger with the dry napkin, Mordred wiped the blood on his face "It seems like there were more survivors of the Cameliard Kingdom who worshipped Queen Guinevere and wanted to test whether she's truly the descendant of Goddess Clan or not".

Merlin came in with a deep frown "And once they confirmed it, what do they want?".

"They want to rebuild the Cameliard Kingdom with Queen Guinevere as the Queen", Mordred put his hand on his hip and tilted his head "Now, what's the plan?".

Caressing her chin thoughtfully, Merlin hummed and she looked so troubled "...For now, I will contact my brother".

Merlin referred to Willard, the Wizard Druid. Mordred nodded his head and walked outside, telling them that he would report to the King. Surprisingly, when he arrived in the throne room, Guinevere was there as well.

"Brother!", Guinevere hugged him and pouted "Why did you not tell me that you've come back?".

Ruffling her head, Mordred chuckled "Well, I've planned to, in the feast yesterday but there's 'that' assassination attempt. How do you feel?".

She grinned and twirled around "Well, duh. I am fine. See?".

Wrapping his hands around Guinevere's waist, Arthur sighed "Just don't force yourself".

Mordred felt the twinge on his heart but quickly amended his expression, bowing his head "I want to give my report".

After giving the report about the Assassin, Arthur gave quite shocking news "You must hear that I've rebuilt the Cameliard Kingdom. Since Guinevere is going to be the Queen of Camelot Kingdom, I want to ask you to be the King of the Cameliard Kingdom. What do you think?".

At that, Mordred smiled "I refuse".

Arthur and Guinevere did not give up. Even though Mordred told them that he wanted to be the Knight only and was unsure that he would be the good King, they still asked him to. Then, it was decided that Morgan and Lancelot would be the Sovereign with their child as the successor while Mordred would be the Great Holy Knight of Cameliard Kingdom. Thanks to this, the people's opinion about Mordred changed. They thought that Mordred was an ambitious person but it turned out that he was not the greedy person who sought the throne.

It was because Mordred knew about the future.

When Albion appeared in the Capital of Camelot, Mordred knew that it had begun.
