To Follow Your Heart

Chapter 16

October 19th (Day 51)

It is morning and I am out in the woods wearing my black coat. I am about to attempt to get home with the Corridor of Darkness. I test it out to make sure it's working by going to the Destiny Islands. The swirling vortex of Darkness opens up and I walked through. As I exit I find myself on a familiar beach. After confirming it works I walk back through to the woods. Closing the Corridor I steeled my nerves in anticipation. 'Ok Jaylen you can do this.' I thought. I visualize my room back on Earth. My bed, furniture, and computer come to mind. Along with my posters and my other stuff in their place. My feeling of familiarity of where I spent a lot of my time helped me focus. I then reached out to form the Corridor.

And nothing happened.

My heart sunk at the implications. I tried again but the Corridor just wouldn't connect with the location. It was like it didn't exist. I sigh dejected from my attempt to get home.

I was on my way back to Elmyra's when I saw Roxas waiting for me. I walked over grabbing his attention. "Hey Roxas, what's up?"

"Hey Jaylen, I'm going to be doing missions on my own for a while. I wanted to know if you wanted to come with me today."

My previous mood melted away at the prospect of heading to another world. "Sure I'll tag along." I smiled. "What world are we going to?"

"It's called Agrabah and we're going to be destroying Heartless there." Roxas informed me.

I put my coat back on and got my sword strapped before Roxas opened a Corridor to our destination.

We stepped out of the Dark Corridor to the dry heat of Agrabah. I looked around and saw a couple mounds of sand all over the city.

I tried to keep my mouth shut (not really) but I couldn't help myself. "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere."

Roxas looked around and slightly chuckled. "C'mon, the Heartless aren't going to defeat themselves."

We then heard talking nearby and looked to see Aladdin and Jasmine conversing. We could barely hear what they were saying. "Another sandstorm? Are you sure, Aladdin?"

"Unfortunately, yes. All the merchants were talking about it." Aladdin replied as I took in the first Disney characters I witnessed.

"This is terrible…" Said Jasmine. I just realized this is the second Princess of Heart I am in the proximity of and mentally slapped myself for not using my senses when I met Kairi. I quickly spread my senses towards her and all I felt was a light so pure it pushed back the darkness but also attracted it.

"And that's only one of the things that's got me worried." Aladdin continued.

"Why? What else is wrong?" Jasmine wondered.

"The Heartless - they've been showing up all over Agrabah." Aladdin gestured.

"Heartless!?" Jasmine said in confused shock.

"Yeah. They always appear right before a sandstorm hits. I thought it was just a coincidence during the last storm but…" Aladdin tried to explain.

"Oh no… I hope this isn't a sign of things to come." Jasmine said, ending the conversation.

Aladdin and Jasmine then made their way to the palace as me and Roxas watched from the sidelines.

I looked to Roxas. "Seems like this place could use some help."

"Yeah, let's go look around." Roxas suggested.

We then wandered through Agrabah and surprisingly the place was a lot bigger and more complex than the games showed. A few areas were the same as the game from what I observed and the place wasn't as lifeless either. There was the hustle and bustle of the common folk along with the royal guards acting as the police force. But when the heartless started popping up the people scattered. Me and Roxas had to take on Dire and Fire Plants throughout the city.

We then got to a familiar entrance that led out to the desert when we encountered a new Heartless type, a Barrier Master. We couldn't destroy any other Heartless until we took that thing out. I focused on attacking it while Roxas covered for me blocking attacks from the Fire Plants.

Soon I took the book wielding Heartless down and it was easy pickings on the rest of them.

We were up on a ledge when we heard something from below us. It was a screech from a monkey followed by a yell. "Hey! Get back here, Abu!"

Chasing after the monkey was Aladdin. He then soon cornered his friend. "I told you, you can't just take things from the marketplace!" Abu started to make gestures. "Uhp! No excuses! We made a promise: no more stealing! Now c'mon, let's go give this back." Both he and Abu then made their way back where they came from.

I turn to Roxas. "I think we're done for today. And I really want to get out of this heat."

Roxas gave me a smirk. "It's a good thing we're going to get some ice cream then, right?"

I gave a big smile at that. It was only us at the clocktower that day.

A/N:

Again sorry for the short chapter. Not much to add to these missions. But hopefully that will change when we get to the main plot.

Typing original dialogue is less tedious than typing from the cutscenes.
