Luz silently cried, not wanting to open her eyes and see another parent's dead body. She felt someone grab her chin and force her to look up.
"Don't worry, I'll give you time to grieve, and then you'll be ready to face me." Fitz said.
Fitz walked out of the room and after a few minutes, the chains opened and let her down. Luz looked at the ground before finally getting the strength to look at Eda. Fitz slit her throat and then, just make Luz enraged; he stabbed the knife in her stomach, the same place Alaric put the very same knife when he killed Camila. Luz slowly walked up to Eda's pale body, no longer carrying herself as a royal, or as an all-powerful vampire... she carried herself as a broken soul. She briefly saw Camila instead of Eda, in just a few short years, she lost another family member, because of the same person. But this time it's different, this time, she has the power and resources to fix this, she may have been too late to save Camila, but she can save Eda. She picked up Eda's body and looked at her.
"I promise, you'll be alright." Luz said, "I... I swear on my mother's grave."
Luz used her shadow magic and teleported to Caith City... it feels weird now, knowing she is a member of the Caith family. She named it in honor of the first Vampire, she had no clue that she was actually naming it after her grandfather. Vampires of the city watched as she walked through the streets. Carriages stopped, vampires stopped, even pets and the occasional stray animal from the woods stopped. It wasn't uncommon for that to happen when Amity or Luz walked around the small country, but today it was different, it wasn't normal for Luz to bring her adopted mothers corpse with her as she walked. Luz slowly walked to the castle, not speaking until she reached the guards.
"No one but me is allowed in or out of this castle." Luz said.
"Yes, Ma'am." They said, opening the gate.
Luz walked in the gate and the guards closed it behind her. Luz walked into a part of the castle reserved for times when a vampire queen is in labor or injured beyond normal healing. She set Eda's body on a bed and looked at her servants.
"I don't know what you can do to save her, but just do it." Luz said.
"My Queen, it's not like we can turn a corpse." One said.
"I know, which is why I'm not asking you to, I'm asking you to try and bring her back to life." Luz said, her voice wavering as she was clearly struggling to hold it together, "Please... I'm not asking as your queen, I'm asking... as someone who can't lose anymore family."
"We'll... we'll give it our best." Another one said.
"That's all I'm asking." Luz said.
Luz heard the door open and new by the scent that it was Amity. She turned and saw Amity, who clearly had been crying as well.
"Amity."
"Luz."
The two walked towards each other and hugged the other one. Amity rested her head on Luz's shoulder.
"What are we going to do?" Amity asked.
Luz pulled out the note from Ambrose, she knew what she needed to do.
"I need to speak with someone important."
