Luz went to the place the note said. It was a large house, but it was very overtaken with vines and other plants, along with cracks in the walls. It looked very old and very brittle, one wrong step and it might collapse. Luz went inside, honestly that shouldn't even be surprising at this point, going into a house that is on the brink of collapse is the least dangerous thing she's done. Besides, what's the worse that's going to happen? She can't be kill from it collapsing, unless there is one piece of wood in this STONE HOUSE, that somehow magically hit her directly in the heart, she would be fine. She wasn't too surprised that she saw Ambrose in the place, looking at several very burnt objects, some barely noticeable.

"I've done my best to save them." He said, "But unfortunately, the fire was too much."

Luz went over to them, seeing some paintings that still had some defining figures, such as her mother. Then there were others that had her and Lucia before they had to flee.

"What were we?" Luz asked, "I know we're vampires, I know we are royalty, but what were we in the Human Realm? Why did we stay in Dracula's castle? What were we?"

"Beloved." Ambrose said, "The entirety of Transylvania loved the family, we were seen as the greatest secret in the world. Your parents were very popular, your mother was greeted whenever she left the castle. We weren't filthy rich, but we would be considered high class. The... the day I told them that Camila had died, there was a weeklong memorial, flowers littered the street, people bowed their heads when I would stroll out at night, a sign of respect for the dead."

"How often did you leave the castle?" Luz asked, "After my mother died?"

"Very rarely, maybe every couple New Moons. I used to walk nightly, with my son and your mother, greeted and spoke with humans that enjoyed the night air, and even a few vampires that my son new in his youth."

"There are vampires in the Human world?!" Luz asked.

Ambrose chuckled a little.

"Yes, Transylvania is a very important place, as there are vampires and human that live in peace. Our family has kept the peace for centuries." Ambrose said, "We keep vampires from attacking humans, by using our status, we were able to keep vampires from attacking humans, which has resulted in humans not attacking vampires."

Luz tried to build herself up for the next question.

"What happened that night?"

Ambrose let out a sigh.

"I truly don't know." He said, "All I know, is that people attacked the castle. It was such a thought-out attack; it couldn't have been a random attack. They wanted to wipe us out. I... I watched my son run into the burning inferno, he was trying to hold them back long enough to allow you, your sister, and your mother to escape. I can only assume he burned to death."

"What... what was dad like?" Luz asked.

"He was the bravest, most honorable man ever." Ambrose said, "There wasn't anything he wouldn't do to protect this family... even if it meant death. He valued humanity, more than most humans do. I miss him, I miss your mother, and most importantly, I missed you and your sister."

"Will I remember anything about this?" Luz asked, "I had small flashes of fire, but that's it."

"In time, you will. Vampire memories are unique, they always try and tell you something important." Ambrose said, "When the time will come, you will remember, but until then, try and focus on what they're trying to tell you."

Luz let out a sigh, she knew this wouldn't be easy, but she also knew one thing... whatever Fitz plans to do... he needs to go to Caith City. She'll be there, and she'll be waiting.
