Daddy's Little Girl

A/N: Hellooooo, I'm back bitches :D I don't know why but somehow I've really been missing this, maybe because it's a nice way to clear your head. Usually I do that by going for a run but since this crazy heat wave has hit us and I hate treadmills here I am updating. I hope I'll be able to keep this up and at some point get to all my stories that have been neglected for so long.

How sad is it that I've talked about my great love for Alan Rickman and he's passed away ever since my last update :(

LoveLastsForever: I hope this chapter will be worth the wait as well! I still find Derek soooo charming in this story. Maybe it's because he's written by a woman…

Addison-fan: You know, in the beginning I wasn't so sure — sorry, had to erase the rest because I just figured out that I'd totally give it away! Stay tuned :)

Guest: Oh, we'll take time with all of the marrying and getting pregnant and hat not in this story… In all my stories. Because I'm honestly so weirded out by friends getting married after half a year of relationship and having kids after like a year. Good things take time :)

Shayshay18: Here it is!

Chapter 25

I'm not gonna call him dad!

"No, mother, I cannot pick you up at the airport right now." Addison sighed, rather exasperated, as she leaned against the counter of the nurses station. "Well, for one because you never told me when you'd be arriving!" She ran her fingers through her hair and frowned at the split ends she was seeing. Lately she hadn't had much time for anything but work and had spent all of her free time with Grace and Derek. So her hair had to pay the price. "Mother, I cannot just leave now!" Addison groaned, why was she related to this woman?! "There are people who depend on me!" The expression on her face grew in frustration with every passing second and apparently with every word her mother said. "NO! It is not the same thing as you waiting for me at the airport!" She hadn't noticed that Derek had come up behind her, he on the other hand looking quite amused. "Because you could take a cab, mother! You know what, I can't pick you up, you will have to take a cab because you didn't bother to tell me when you'd get here. I'm sorry that this displeases you but I have a job, I have lives to save, for god's sake!" With this she hung up the phone and rubbed her temples.

"So, your mother is here?" Derek tried his best to hide his amusement but failed terribly, which just annoyed her more.

"This is not funny. This is in absolutely no way funny!"

"It did sound just a little funny." He chuckled and handed her a cup. "I thought you could use this and the was even before this phone call."

At this her expression softened and she gave him a slight smile. "Thank you."

"So, you have to work all day? Because I know that you don't have any surgeries scheduled today so one might think you're just trying to avoid your mother…" He said in his McDreamy way as she sipped her hot chocolate.

"As much as I'd love to avoid my mother, I have an appointment to get my hair done because I know I'd never hear the end of it if she saw me looking like this." When she saw Derek's frown, indicating that he didn't think there was anything wrong with the way she or her hair looked, she decided to explain, "It's much longer than she would find appropriate, even though I might keep it a little longer, it's starting to curl which is fixed by getting it sealed," she had to chuckle when she saw the look he had on his face, "and there cannot be a single grey hair visible if my mother is here, even though I'm sure she'll cause some grey hair while she is here."

"Well, to me, you look beautiful, but I know you women are seriously messed up when it comes to these things because my sisters are the same."

"Mhm, I know you say that and probably even think that you believe it, but your hair looks much too good for you to pretend it doesn't at least take a little effort." Derek only rolled his eyes because, deep down, he knew that she had a point. It wasn't that it took him straighteners or curling irons or whatever else his sisters had laying around all over the bathroom, but it still took effort. "Uhm... There was one more thing I wanted to talk to you about." She said quietly, glad that they were alone. For days she had avoided talking about this but since she really couldn't anymore she had to address it. "My parents in law are coming to town for Grace's birthday."

"I know, she's already told me this…" Derek took her hand in his and gave her a soft smile. "And I get that you're not ready to tell them you're dating." He knew that he was right, even before he'd seen the look on her face.

"Derek, I—"

"Don't apologise, Addie. Don't make it harder on yourself by always worrying that you might hurt my feelings." To be honest, he hadn't expected to be introduced to her family, especially not as her boyfriend. Maybe he would be upset if he hadn't seen his mother grief for his father. But he knew how hard it was to lose a loved one and then deal with everything.

"But I feel like I'm the worst person in the world." She sighed and looked down at their intertwined hands. Ever since she had met him she had been so much happier and she knew it was all because of him. "You've been absolutely perfect and I want you to be a part of all this. But they've lost their only child and I can't bear to tell them that I'm moving on. I can't do this to them." She saw him nod in understanding and somehow this made it so much harder. "I still want you there and I know that sounds even more selfish."

Derek had to smile at that and shook his head. "There is no way you could have uninvited me after Grace had already officially invited me. With a card and all." Finally he could see her smile. A week ago she'd had a long weekend off and somehow Grace had talked her into making all the birthday invites themselves. Which had involved so much glue and glitter Addison hadn't been able to get it all off her face and hair when Derek had come by that night.

"You know you loved that card." She laughed softly, so grateful for everything he was doing.

"I know, that's why it's on my refrigerator. And I have also noticed that it's nicer looking than the one Mark and Preston got." He also hadn't minded seeing her covered in glitter.

"Mom, can I spend the night at auntie Adele's?" Grace asked her mother when she had picked her up from school that day. Ever since her talk with the headmaster about how Grace had argued with a teacher things had gone much smoother. So smooth even that little Miss Sunshine had invited her entire class to her birthday because she didn't want anyone to feel left out. And now, because of that large amount of kids, Addison wasn't even sure there was any way to fit all of the party guest into the house. They had then decided that the kids would come from 11am until 4pm and the adults could show up around 6pm. Which had led to big frustration on Mark Sloan's part when he'd heard that there would be no divorced moms left by the time he'd be invited.

"Sure, but grandma Bizzy is coming later." Addison tried.

"You just don't want to be alone with your mother." Oh, how well Grace knew her mother.

"That's not true. I'm sure grandma would love to see you." And Addison really was sure that her mother would like to see her granddaughter, even though their relationship had be about as affectionate as her relationship with her mother had been.

"She doesn't even want me to call her grandma in public…"

"You can stay at Adele's." Addison gave up with a sigh as she remembered the look on Grace's face when Bizzy had told her that she could only refer to her as Bizzy or auntie Bizzy in public so it wouldn't sound like she was that old. "Any chance Adele still has some room?" Grace giggled and shook her head at that.

After getting her hair done at the most expensive salon she could find in Seattle Addison had dropped Grace, who had also gotten a haircut, off at Adele and Richard's house.

"So, your mother is in town?" Adele gave Addison an apologetic look because she had met Bizzy Forbes and it hadn't been the greatest encounter of all times.

"Yes, she's in town…"

"So you're avoiding to see her by hanging around here?"

"How come everyone knows I'm trying to avoid my mother?" Addison sighed. "I really have to go home to face her. I'm pretty sure by now she's managed to redecorate my house and might have brought painters in to paint it all in some ridiculous shade of a new 'in' white." Maybe it had been a mistake to tell her mother where her spare key was… "Bye, Adele. And thanks for taking care of Grace tonight."

"Any time, you know when Derek and you go out or something." Addison didn't like the way that something had sounded because she could only imagine what Adele was getting at. "Your hair looks very nice, by the way." With this they said their goodbyes and there wasn't any chance Addison could stall seeing her mother any more.

When Addison arrived at her house she could see all of the lights were turned on, which was always the way to know her mother was there. Apparently Bizzy had never heard of saving energy…

When she had unlocked the front door she was somewhat pleasantly surprised that all the walls were still the same shade of a very light grey she had picked. The pillows on the sofa had been fluffed, but that she could live with.

"Addison! It took you long enough!" Her mother exclaimed as she walked towards her daughter, a still annoyed look on her face.

"And it's nice to see you too, mother." Addison mumbled and set her bag down.

"Oh, what have you done with your hair? Aren't there any decent salons in this…" she crinkled her nose, just like Addison, some people would say (even though Addison didn't see it), before continuing with disdain in her voice, "city."

"You've never liked my hair. Anyway, how was your flight?" For the sake of being civil Addison decided of not arguing with her mother. From the looks of it, Bizzy still wouldn't appreciate being called grandma in public. Her hair was dyed in a dark auburn color and pulled back in a twist Addison knew Bizzy's hair dresser had done before she had left for her flight. And just like always delicate diamonds sparkled on her mother's necklace, earrings and rings. Bizzy looked exactly what people would imagine old money and a wealth that had been passed down for generations to look like.

"It was dreadful, of course." She sighed exasperatedly. "And then we couldn't even get a decent cab to get us here. And, Addison, what is it with this house? You could've used the trust fund if you had needed money instead of living here."

"I love my house, mother. I don't need my trust fund, I'm making my own money," just as Addison was starting to get highly annoyed with her mother something struck her, "wait, we?" She questioned.

"Yes, we." Bizzy stated, a hand on her hip. "I would like you to meet Eduardo." She motioned towards a tall man who came into the kitchen from the hall towards the guest bedroom.

"Eduardo?" Addison raised her eyebrows at her mother in disbelief. That man didn't look like he was even as old as Addison was and knowing her mother she also knew that Eduardo was younger than she was…

"Eduardo, I'd like you to meet Addison, my daughter."

"Ciao, Addison. It is a," he stopped, trying to think of what to say, apparently, "piacere to meet you. But daughter, you look more like sorella!"

"He's still learning English." Bizzy explained with a flattered smile as Addison and Eduardo shook hands, the younger woman not believing that Eduardo had been honest for a second when he'd said they looked like sisters.

"Uhu, that's great…" So now she had to spend time with her mother and Eduardo?!

"So, we do not want to bother you much longer because my friend Madeleine has also moved here and we are invited to dinner at her house. She lives down by the waterfront, I'll ask her for her relator's name." Bizzy commented with a last look around the house. "It would have been nice if you hadn't kept us waiting for that long."

"Well, mother, don't you think he's a bit giovane for you?" Addison raised her eyebrows at her mother as she looked at Eduardo.

"That is absolutely none of your business." With that Bizzy waltzed past Addison as she and Eduardo left the house.

"Hey." She smiled softly when he had answered the phone.

"Hi, how is it going?" Derek was trying to hide his amusement, because he could imagine that everything was probably even more entertaining, even if Addison couldn't see it yet.

"Don't go there." Addison sighed and leaned back against her sofa with a glass of wine in her hand.

"Oh, that good…"

"Any chance you want to come over?"

"But I thought you didn't want me to meet your family just yet… And I doubt your mother would like me much." Truth be told, Derek would be pretty nervous if she wanted him to meet her mother. Sure, stories he'd heard were very entertaining, even though Addison kept telling him they weren't, but he wasn't sure he could handle Bizzy Forbes.

"My mother isn't here. They went out."

"They?" Derek frowned on the other end of the line. He knew Addison's parents had gotten divorced a long time ago and could barely be in the same room with the other.

"I'll tell you the story when you come over to make it worth your while."

"You're always worth coming over, Addie." At that she had to smile softly. She wanted nothing more than to introduce Derek to everyone who meant something to her, so that could spare him meeting Bizzy, and especially while accompanied by Eduardo.

"So, they?" Derek raised his eyebrows at Addison, who was sitting next to him on the small sofa on her balcony, her head resting on his shoulder and a blanket wrapped around both of them.

"You said I'm worth coming over, so no need to fill you in on all the details." She said quietly, a grin on her face because she could imagine protests coming from him any second.

"That's not fair. You lured me here under false pretences!" Addison laughed and turned her upper body towards Derek who did the same, a grin on his face as well because he had been joking.

"Alright, are you ready?" She raised her eyebrows at him and he nodded. "After insulting my hair and my house my mother introduced me to Eduardo." Addison watched the amusement on Derek's face being replaced with curiosity of what was about to come next. "Eduardo is probably a good ten years younger than you and me." Before Derek could even cover his mouth with his hand he had to laugh loudly. "And he pretended that he thought we were sisters." It sounded funny, when she told it to Derek but it was her mother after all, so not so funny. "You know, I'm used to this. My mother has always had her boy toys but why did she have to bring him?"

"Well," Derek started and wrapped an arm around her, "I really happen to like your hair," at this she smiled softly, how come he always knew the right thing to say? "And maybe she brought him to get laid." He had really tried to stay serious but the way her head had whipped around and the look she had given him had been enough to make him laugh.

"Do NOT ever say that again. EVER!" Disgust was evident on her face but Derek nodded, still laughing. He had been joking. Somewhat. "Anyway, I'm not gonna call him dad!" And now she had to laugh as well. It was so good to have him there.

The next morning Addison awoke with Derek's arm draped over her hip, his nose buried in her hair and she had to smile to herself. It felt so good to have him there. The previous evening she had been sure that there would be absolutely no way anyone or anything could lighten her mood but just seeing him had done the trick.

Before they'd gone to bed he'd only dared to give her one quick goodnight kiss because he'd heard her mother coming home with Eduardo. Somehow even the thought of his name made Addison roll her eyes.

"You're thinking very loudly." Derek whispered into her hair.

"Good morning." She smiled and turned around in his arms, placing her lips on his before he even had the chance of saying anything. "So before you debate going out of the window so you won't run into my mother," she whispered and could see by the look on his face that that's what he'd been thinking about at least last night before going to sleep, "how about I introduce you?"

Yes, she wanted him to meet everyone and she wanted them to meet him. As her boyfriend.

Alrighty, that was it! How did you like Eduardo?! :D

The whole meeting everyone as her boyfriend thing doesn't apply to her in laws, don't get your hopes up! And I'm kind of on a roll here, maybe I'll manage to update all the stories I want to update by Monday...
