Another day. Another lifetime. Another generation. And another mission to complete.
Life's hard, that's true. But life's even harder when you are born with the plaguing memories of your life before you were born in this entirely new era. The gruesome memories of dying, the painful experiences you had in your previous life, and the never ending onslaught of images that causes reality to blur.
The memories come in slow at first, then terribly fast that you cannot distinguish what is real and what was a mere memory. From his very first time of living, he remembers everything about it every lifetime, to his previous life recently where it was slightly better, aside from the terrible way that he had died.
It was hard to be reincarnated again, and again, with the sickening knowledge of who you were and what you were in the last time you were walking on the earth's surface in flesh. It was maddening how it constantly sets your head in a disarray whenever a new set of images come crashing into your mind without warning. It the most random times of the day, the memories come to him with an extraordinary intensity that it's a wonder how he could remain composed and how he still managed to stand.
But what was even harder, was having the knowledge of your love. It was painful, the sting of hurt that follows whenever he catches a glimpse of the tragedy that cut their love short.
In every lifetime, in every generation, and in every era that he was born again, he was in love with the same person. It was an unconscious thing that comes into his mind whenever he sees her, that it was so easy to fall in love and find yourself captivated again and again by the same woman. The memories are not enough to convince him to fall in love, because after all it was only images of his past life, which he knows he could easily change in a heartbeat of decisions.
But when he sees her, face to face with the same beauty he has only seen in his memories—if only more intense when he gazes at her with his eyes finally—the air is knocked out of his chest and he is inevitably hers with just a mere look. His heart was taken the moment he laid eyes with her, his mind will now only think of her, and his eyes will only look at her with the ardent fondness that he has developed after a single moment in her presence.
But if that is the same steadfast love that he experiences in every lifetime, there was also the same inevitable tragedy that follows whenever he chooses her.
It seems their love for one another is not compatible, or paradoxical in a way. The world cannot accept their match, as if it was wrong and unacceptable. It always ended with a tragic remark, or a sorrowful parting that he loses all hope and all light in his life.
It was always bittersweet, in every lifetime, in every generation they are in.
His life ends in emptiness, then he reincarnates into another lifetime with the same memories plaguing his mind—if only increased by his recent and previous life.
His memories do not come immediately the moment he was born, nor does in come in one swoop or delivery. They are a few in between when he's young—it will come blur and incoherent, until he's old enough to understand. But when his mind is starting to mature, and his brain could handle more information than he could before, that is when the memories come in hard and fast. Thousands in between, with the same extraordinary intensity it leaves him stunned the first time.
It does not fail to have understanding wash over him when he finally figures out the purpose of the gradual supply of images. He accepts it fully, no objection and whining because he knows it's his destiny to remember everything.
He doesn't know if the universe is punishing him about something he has no idea he has done by having him remember and practically relive his tragic previous lifetimes through gruesome and surprisingly clear memories. But what he knows for sure that it's absolute torture.
He does not expect anything in life, any sort of changes or a new opportunity presented for him to change the cycle of events that occurs in his every lifetime.
But there is one thing her wants, the desire to meet her again. In this lifetime, and learn to fall in love all over again.
So when he finally does encounter her face to face, he smiles.
She was as beautiful as ever, the same bubblegum pink hair and the remarkable viridian eyes that he has learned to drown into. She was radiant, and bright, and so magnificent she could possibly blind him.
In every lifetime, she glowed more and more. Her features were the same as ever, but her aura seem to spark so much brighter the more his lifetime increases.
The universe might contradict, or destiny might say otherwise, but he knows, absolutely knows, that they are soulmates. He could feel their chemistry deep within his bones. His whole body is consumed with tingles and such deep, utter excitement whenever he lays his eyes once again on her. He is consumed by the overwhelming urge to never leave her side, and have her shackled with him until the end of time. He wants to spend his life with her, against all odds, and against all possible circumstances.
But he also knows it's not that easy. He's not sure if soulmates exists, or if it's truly just an absurd notion of people for them to believe in foolish hopes of pure love with no challenges, but with her, he could feel that it's real.
And yet, in these lifetimes that are given to him, he remembers everything. While she, is completely oblivious to his existence.
If he could, he thinks he'll go ahead to kneel and ask her to marry him the moment he sees her for the first time again.
But he can't. She does not know him, nor does she know of their breath-taking love in every lifetime. She is as radiant as ever, and he is as aware as he could be. He is as in love as he should, and she is as clueless as ever.
Still, he smiles at the bitter knowledge. He gazes at her and watches her sit with her friends and laugh freely. Her smile is bright, and the sound of her laughter are the best music that he has ever heard.
She was still the same—beautiful, bright, colorful, and his very spring.
So what he does, is he nicely approaches her and introduces himself.
His looks are not of low-class, instead it was quite the opposite actually. He has striking features that could make any girl swoon if he chooses to. His eyes are dark and piercing, as well as his ebony locks of unruly pattern. He has a handsome face, and he's aware of it.
So clearly, it was no surprise to see her blush when she received such attention from him. It sends a wave of relief through him to know he could charm her, even in this lifetime, without fail.
"Hello…" she answers nicely and smiles after he formally introduces himself. "I'm Sakura. Sakura, Haruno."
I know, his mind thinks as he shakes her outreached hand for formality's sake.
"Nice to meet you, Sasuke Uchiha."
"Nice to meet you too, Sakura."
He knows this lifetime would also end in tragedy, or a bittersweet parting. Their love couldn't prevail against destiny, or fate, or whoever is controlling their future.
But despite every circumstance that he might face, he knows he'll choose her without fail.
