God, this took me months to update again, and it was supposed to take a month or two. I am so sorry for letting this story rot I was on a roll then I dropped it in favor of my At Dead of Night story which I also need to finish. Then I had internet trouble in December that lasted until late January, so I wasn't able to write a lot of stories out of fear of using all the data in the hotspot my family used for our summer vacation while we moved. Then I started working on my Kingdom Hearts stories and I didn't get around to finishing this chapter till yesterday it took a few days but I'm just happy it's done. This chapter is the longest in the story at 7k words this is some of the longest work I've done in ages,
and this is also the most fun I've ever had Dakota, Emily and Erica were so much fun to write but I will warn you Dakota's obsession gets a little nutty so if I make anyone uncomfortable due to it, I'm so sorry. I tried to tune it down, but I still wanted to show how powerful Dakota's emotions get at her young age. With that said enjoy the chapter.
Chapter 4: The Blood Truck Raid
"Okay, everyone." Amy spoke, "Erica and Rory are nowhere to be seen, which can only mean one thing."
"They're at the truck?" We guessed,
"They're at the truck," Amy confirmed,
"We know they're at the scene of the crime. But what's the plan?" Emily inquired,
"I haven't thought of that yet." Amy admitted, "But I'm sure we could get away with tying them up with the rainbow wands. And getting them out of there before we get caught."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, when do we get to the part where I seduce him?" I questioned, much to everyone's shock and horror,
"I am almost terrified to ask about that?!" Emily exclaimed,
"I'm telling ya, we've been hanging out with Ethen and Benny for too long," Mabel spoke with a hint of concern,
"What? it's that word Emily uses when she's knocked someone out with her tranquilizer gun." I explained,
"Oh, you mean sedate." Emily sighed in relief,
"You had us in the first half, not gonna lie." Mabel giggled,
"You know we should do that, then tie them up and get them out of there," Emily suggested,
"That's actually a good idea." Mimi agreed,
"Great, now that the plan is in order. Let's stop some blood-thirsty vamps." Esamanda said determinedly,
We continued running down the halls to get to the back of the school. Meanwhile, Rory and Erica beat us to it. Hiding behind a dumpster waiting to make their move.
"Now's your chance! Go!" Erica whispered,
"You got it, hot stuff!" He replied,
"Don't call me that!" Erica snapped,
"Good idea, switching to alternate code names, sweet checks." Rory looked around to ensure he wouldn't be spotted and went inside the blood truck.
"Whoa, Erica, we hit the motherload!" He said excitedly into the walkie-talkie, looking at all the blood.
"Great, now get the blood, and let's go." She replied,
Meanwhile, Ethen nervously walked into the donation room as the nurses were cleaning up and getting ready to leave,
"Hey, I know I missed last call. But I got a pint of blood sloshing around inside of me." Ethen stated, "If you want it, I promise I won't faint."
"Come on." Annie smiled, gesturing Ethen to sit down. And he nervously did, unaware of the secrets he was about to uncover.
Erica was waiting for Rory to show up with the blood, but he was taking forever.
"What is taking so long?" Erica questioned, annoyed,
Rory replied with garbled speech.
"Hello, Earth to moron?!" She questioned again, fearing Rory was drinking her blood. She rushed to the truck and caught him in the act.
"Hey, what gives that's my blood?!"
"I was, uh, just making sure it was good enough for your lips, my sweet." He smiled nervously,
"What's going on here?" The older nurse questioned seeing the two in the truck,
"Back off, sweetie, or these blood bags won't be the only things getting drained!" Erica threatened, hissing at her; only the nurse wasn't scared.
"Not exactly the reaction I was going for," Erica stated as the nurse laughed at her,
Meanwhile, Benny was playing video games at his house when Rory's G.P.S. started beeping.
"What are you doing behind the school, Rory?" Benny asked himself, "Let's see what the security cameras say."
Benny typed on his computer, pulled up the security cam, and saw Rory and Erica out back.
"Oh no." He panicked, pulling out his phone and dialing my number.
"Hello?" I answered,
"Dakota put me on speaker phone. This is important."
"Okay, give me a minute Benny," I replied, putting him on speaker,
"What's up, Benny?" Cindy questioned,
"Rory and Erica are about to raid the doner van. You guys have to stop them." He explained,
"We're on it; call Ethen. We may need reinforcements in case things go south," I ordered,
"We'll due over and out," Benny said and hanged up,
"Come on, ladies, this ends now!" Mabel shouted as we ran to the back of the school.
"Before you do it, could you give me like a three count?" Ethen questioned nervously as Annie cleaned the needle. "No, no five count; a five count would be great." He sighed as he got a call from Benny.
"Benny…"
"Dude Rory and Erica are gonna hit the doner van behind the school. Dakota and the others are on their way, but they'll need help." Benny explained over the phone,
"This won't hurt a bit," Annie reassured, touching Ethen's arm, causing him to have one of the most surprising visions to date. In his vision, he saw the nurses were vampires.
"Relax, I don't bite," Annie reassured,
"Promise?" He asked fearfully,
When we got outside, we saw the older nurse, Rory, and Erica.
"Great, we're too late," I whispered,
"Looks like the plan to stop them before getting caught backfired too." Emily noticed seeing the older nurse,
"Great, now she's in trouble." Mimi groaned,
"Hold on, if she's in danger, then why isn't she scared of Erica's fangs?" Amy questioned, noticing Erica's fighting stance,
"You're right. Most people would cower in fear over a real-life vampire!" Mabel spoke up,
"Then why isn't she terrified?" I wondered, tapping my chin with my finger,
"Well, the older nurse is pretty stern. Nothing seems to deter her." Mable replied,
"Let's wait and see where this goes," Amy suggested having a gut feeling there was more to this,
"You're a nurse, so you know what these little babies can do to a jugular." Erica smiled wickedly,
Then the nurse showed her fangs. "Wait 'til you see what happens when those babies are all grown up."
"She's a vampire!" I yelled,
"Shhh!" Amy hushed, putting her hand over my mouth, "You're going to get us caught."
"Sorry, I was surprised." I apologized,
"She's one of us?" Rory spoke,
"Wow, did not expect that," Erica said,
"No," Rory replied,
"You have broken one of our oldest laws. Trying to steal from your own kind?" The older nurse explained, "The council will make sure you pay for this."
"Well, in their defense, it's not like they knew you were a vampire." Emily butted in quietly,
"Like a vampire, fine?" Erica questioned, not the least bit concerned, "Just give the fine to pasty face here. I'm sure he's good for it."
"Huh? No, not me." Rory muttered, shaking his head,
"Hey, leave my man alone, Erica," I whispered as the older nurse locked them in.
"Hey! What?! Hey, let us out!" Erica shouted, banging on the door,
"This just got a whole lot harder." Emily realized,
"Guys, she's coming this way." Amy pointed out
"Run!" I shouted as we ran back inside,
"Great, now what do we do?!" Mabel asked, slightly panicked,
"We need to tell Ethen, Benny, and Sarah. We need their help." I explained,
"Wait, Ethen was heading to the blood drive. If my hunch is correct, Annie might be a vampire too." Amy spoke up,
"He could be in danger. We have to warn him," Mimi spoke hastily,
"You guys go. I'm going to try to rescue Rory and Erica," I said,
"Are you sure you can take on two full-fledged vampires?" Mabel voiced worriedly,
"I don't need to fight them; I just have to unlock the door before they come back," I explained,
"Okay, but be careful. If something happens, call me." Emily requested,
"Deal, be back soon." I agreed, running off,
"Come on. We have to warn Ethen before he's next." Amy stated. The group rushed to find Ethen while I ran back outside.
"So, how much blood do you take?" Ethen asked awkwardly, trying to stall for time,
"How much do you have?" Annie asked, making Ethen more nervous. "Hm hm, just a pint." She giggled, making Ethen sigh in relief,
"Annie, we're leaving now." The older nurse said,
"Maybe next time. It's a shame too you smell interesting." Annie said,
"Annie, let's go." The older nurse pushed,
"You can help yourself to a cookie on the way out." Annie offered leaving with the older nurse just as Sarah and the others came in.
"Ethen?" Sarah asked,
"Ethen we've got big trouble!" Amy announced urgently, pushing past the girl.
"Yeah, I've got news too." He replied,
"The nurses are vampires." They revealed in sync,
"You know? Amy questioned shockingly,
"Yeah, I just had a vision. Wait, how did you find out?"
"We were trying to stop Rory and Erica when the older nurse caught them," Lizzy explained,
"Are they okay?" Sarah asked,
"Not for long. They're locked in the truck," Esamanda spoke,
"The nurses are going to report them to the vampire council for stealing blood from their own kind," Mabel explained,
"This is bad. Come on, guys, we better… Wait, what's that smell? It's amazing?" Sarah questioned, sniffing a cotton swob Ethen had on his arm,
"Is that your blood? It smells really good."
"Thanks." Ethen smiled awkwardly, "Here, have a cookie take two."
The group rushed out of the donation room and outside just as the blood truck left.
"What, seriously, I ran for nothing." Benny huffed, trying to catch his breath,
"Benny?" I questioned, coming out of hiding,
"Dakota, what are you doing out here." He asked as I ran into his arms,
"Trying to save my friends," I replied,
"Benny?" Ethen cut in the others by his side,
"Ethen! You hanged up on me!"
"Later, right now, we have vampire nurses to deal with." Sarah interrupted before an argument broke out between the boys,
"Vampire nurses?" Benny checked, "Alright, that's worth running for. Wait, where's Rory and Erica?" He asked, looking around,
"We figured out they were planning to rub the blood truck," Ethen stated,
"Okay, okay, Rory's on the move and fast he's either flying or."
"He's on that truck!" I butted in, "The older nurse caught Rory and Erica and locked them inside. They're going to report them to the Vampire Council. That's why I was outside. I was trying to save them." I explained hastily,
"How did that go?" Cindy wondered,
"Not well; I couldn't get close enough. Those nurses left in a hurry," I reported,
"They're in danger vampires are super territorial," Sarah warned,
"Not to mention Rory and Erica are in the same space. And that's bad because she hates him." Mabel added,
"We better grab our gear and go after them fast," Ethen said,
"Wait, you go on ahead; I have to save Rory and Erica. I can get there with the super speed hat," I stated,
"Are you sure? If you get trapped inside, your obsessive side could break through. And I do not want you making out with a fifteen-year-old vampire." Emily stated sternly,
"I got this. I promise my love-struck side won't poke its ugly head while rescuing them. Please, Emily, I can do this." I insisted,
"Fine, but you have to keep that crush under control. It scares me." Emily shivered, giving me the super speed hat,
"Deal, I'll let you know when I save them, meet me at Ethen's house!" I called out as I sped away,
"Come on, let's go." Ethen ushered the group and made their way to his house, where the vampire hunting gear was kept.
Meanwhile, I was on the move. Using my super speed, I began catching up to the blood truck, maneuvering around cars and bouncing off traffic signs. Yep, I was on a mission to save my friends and maybe get a kiss out of it too. I shook my head before my thoughts could wander.
"No, Dakota, you can't think like that, no matter how cute you think Rory is or how much you want to feel his lips on yours. No matter how much you want to stay by his side forever, you can't be with him! " I shouted in my mind, "Besides, why would he fall in love with me when I'm only ten? I mean, it could happen, but Emily wouldn't like it." I regained my focus, willing what little self-control I had left, and continued on my way. I couldn't let my love sickness get the better of me.
If I did, Emily and my parents would ground me for all eternity, and I wasn't about to let that happen. Finally, the truck came into my view.
"Target acquired," I smirked. Time to get this party started.
"How is this door so strong?" Erica grunted, struggling to break down the door,
"Looks like we're trapped alone, together, just the two of us for who knows how long." Rory gushed,
"Are you seriously enjoying this?!" Erica questioned frustratedly,
"Well, let's, see? You, me, in a tight space filled with primo plasma? Hecks, yeah, I'm enjoying this." He replied excitedly, much to Erica's annoyance. Just as she was about to comment, the ambulance doors opened,
"Anyone call for a rescue?" I smiled, hanging upside down on the door frame.
"Ah, Dakota, you are a lifesaver." Erica sighed in relief, ready to ditch her partner.
"I knew my number one girl would come through for us." The blond-haired vampire smiled, making me blush.
"Well, I guess you can say I'm that goood!" I yelped as the blood truck suddenly stopped causing me to lunge forward, getting trapped inside as the doors held open by my rainbow ribbons slammed shut.
"Uh oh, that wasn't supposed to happen." I blinked, looking at my two friends.
"Well, so much for that rescue attempt." Erica frowned though she knew it wasn't my fault.
"You know this reminds me of the time she tried to save us from Jesse's party," Rory remembered,
"Oh yeah." I remembered, "That ended in a disaster."
"Speak for yourself; becoming a vampire has been the best thing to ever happen to me." Erica defended.
"Okay, considering your lives have improved, I guess the rescue mission wasn't a total failure." I decided, "I better call Emily and the others. They won't be happy to know I'm trapped with you two. Well, mostly Rory." I pulled out my phone and called Emily,
Back at Ethen's house, Benny and the girls were waiting for my return while getting ready to take out some phony nurses.
"Hey, Benny, look what I found," Ethen spoke, getting the gang's attention,
"Whatcha found, bud." Cindy wondered,
"These blood-sucking-nurses have over thirty towns in their route. They've been running this scam for years, but it wouldn't run much longer if everyone knew they weren't real nurses." Ethen predicted,
"To bore them to death?" Benny guessed, "Could work." Just then, Emily's phone started ringing.
"Oh, that should be Dakota." She figured, answering her phone, "Hey Dakota, how's it going?"
"Hey, Ems, I'm fine. I found Rory and Erica," I spoke, afraid to tell Emily the truth,
"You found them, then where are you? We're about to head out?"
"Yeah, that's the bad news. We were just about to leave when the truck stopped, and the doors closed, and I'm kind of trapped inside." I braced for Emily's reaction, and as I thought, she wasn't happy.
"What!" She yelled, "Dakota, you have got to get out of there; you're not stable! With your unhealthy obsession on Rory, who knows what your crush on him will make you do."
"I know, Emily. I'm sorry. I didn't expect this little setback to happen. Trust me. I didn't ask for this. If I did, I'd probably be making out with Rory right now." I joked with a chuckle, Rory and Erica looked at me with concern, and it wasn't long before I realized my mistake. "Not that I would ever do that, and it is incredibly irresponsible."
"Gah!, Guys, Dakota got herself stuck in the Blood truck. We need to go now!" Emily insisted,
"She's right. Rory, Erica, and Dakota are in trouble, and I think Sarah's downstairs eating all your frozen meat." Benny frowned,
"Okay, as soon as we're done dealing with Dakota's obsession, we need to do something about Sarah," Cindy spoke up,
"Agreed." Everyone agreed,
"Dakota, sit tight and don't do anything stupid! We'll be there in twenty minutes!" The festy angel ordered, hanging up and following her friend's downstairs,
"Wow, she's really worried about us being stuck together, huh?" Rory spoke to lighting the mood even though he was very aware as to why Emily was concerned,
"Well, would you blame her? Dakota's little crush on you hasn't exactly been healthy." Erica deadpanned,
"Hey, I didn't say I didn't notice; it's just Emily seems a little overprotective," Rory replied,
"She's a ten-year-old girl. I'd be worried too if it were me, and I am." Erica noticed me scooting closer to Rory, and she grabbed my arm, pulling me closer to her.
"I see what you mean." Rory realized as the four of us sat down, waiting for our rescue.
"Hey, have you ever noticed how in romantic comedies the guy and girl start off fighting, then things change between them, and they end up sucking face by the end credits? Let's say, why don't we skip to the end, baby." Rory flirted more to Erica, but the offer was very tempting to me.
"Well, then what are we waiting for." I gushed, moving closer to him. Rory jumped back after realizing his mistake,
"Oh no, you don't." Erica stated as she pulled me into a protective embrace, "You are staying right here with me. Rory, for the love of everything, please watch your mouth with her. Or I swear there will be more than human blood on this truck."
"Haha, sorry, I Wasn't really thinking when I said that." He laughed awkwardly, now lowkey fearing for his safety,
"I hate you." His acquaintance deadpanned, banging on the wall, "Someone get me a wooden stack! And some rope to restrain a surprisingly aggressive ten-year-old!" Yep, it was going to be a long ride.
"I'm so tired of playing it safe. Why can't we have a little fun with these two." Annie wondered,
"You know the rules, Annie. We need to take them to the council." The older nurse answered,
"The Council?! They don't need to know; it's not like these two noobs would put up a fight."
"Maybe not, but still, Vampire proto call requires us to report anyone who breaks our rules. We're already risking a lot with this blood doner scam."
"But Emily, they didn't even know about our secret; I doubt they're smart enough to expose us," Annie argued,
"Don't you Emily me." She replied sternly, "You know as well as I do that we need to stay on their good side. One slip up, and everything we've worked for will be lost. We have enough blood to last us a lifetime. I will not go back to feeding the old-fashioned way." Nurse Emily stated seriously, and Annie knew this conversation was over until.
"Stop right there, criminal scum!" Emily shouted as she ran into the parking lot.
"Okay, you have been watching way too many Cops and Robber movies." Her sister deadpanned, as the rest of the gang followed suit.
"You." Annie spat,
"That's right, us," Ethen replied,
"And me too. I'm-I'm Benny. We met earlier. I'm the one who didn't pass out." He stated, pointing to Ethen making Emily snicker,
"Ugh, Benny get to Rory, Erica, and Dakota; Sarah and I will hold them off. Mostly just Sarah." Ethen smiled, as the gang leaped into action.
Sarah and the nurses got into a struggle while Ethen, Emily, and the others assisted on the sidelines.
"Let go of my friends, or you nurses are going to need a doctor." Sarah threatened as the fight continued,
"So, where's your little friend?" The older nurse questioned,
"Which one? I've got several," Ethen replied dryly,
"The little girl, the one who fainted this morning." She clarified,
"She's trapped in your truck!" Emily answered,
"Wait, what?!" Annie butt in deflecting a hit from Sarah,
"She was trying to save our friends when she got locked inside. You have to let her go, she has a crush on the blond-haired boy, and it has not been treating her kindly."
Just as Nurse Emily was considering this, Ethen knocked her down, pointing the Holy Water Gun at her.
"Don't move one blast of Holy Water, and it's all over."
"Don't give in, Sarah." Chloe cheered, seeing the young fledgling slowing down.
"You're not a real vampire yet." Annie realized, "By the way, you smell like junk food."
"When I catch my breath, you are so dead!" Sarah heaved, but with Annie being a full vampire and stronger, she was able to capture Sarah with ease.
"What now, fledgling?" She taunted while Sarah struggled to break free,
"Okay, the coast is clear." Amy ushered as her and Benny sneaked into the driver's seat, "So, what's the plan again?"
"It's simple. I'm going to hijack the electricity and use it to free Dakota, Rory, and Erica." He replied,
"Couldn't you just, oh, I don't know. Open the doors like a normal person?"
"I could, but how do we know there isn't an electric lock? This makes things way simpler." Her brown hair companion insisted,
"Not gonna lie, this idea is so stupid it just might work." In all her years of dealing with weird scenarios, Amy learned not to question things anymore.
"Well, good thing one of us is an expert with a vast electronic ahhh!" He yelped, getting electrocuted by a wire he was splicing.
"And this is why I don't trust you with anything electrical." Amy shook her head disapprovingly, wondering how I was doing. And if I was being honest, I wasn't doing great, I mean, it was easy staying in the same room with Rory since Mabel, and I hung out with him daily. Granted, up to this point, I didn't need to worry about my crush getting out of control. There's also the fact I was slowly going deaf the longer I listened to Rory talk about whatever came to mind. Yep, I was slowly losing what little sanity I had left. If only an opportunity would arise to get to me the thing, I wanted the most.
"Shut up!" Erica yelled, snapping me out of my trance.
"Ahhh!"
"Dakota, I love you, I really do, but how do you stand him." She questioned, wondering how Mabel and I could fall for such a dork.
"It helps when you love spending time with said person. That and my ears are slowly going numb," I replied dreamily,
"Wait, what?" They replied,
"Dakota, are you okay?" Rory checked even though he and Erica knew the answer to that.
"It's true, his lips are moving, but words are not registering to my ears." I gushed, and for a second, I realized that wasn't a good thing, "I think Emily was right when she said I needed help."
"Okay, when we get out of here, we are taking you to a therapist."
"I agree with that." My crush agreed,
"Just shut up before you trigger her anymore!"
"I'm sorry, I can't help it if she thinks I'm cute. And by the way, this is the most attention I've ever gotten from a girl, even if she is too young."
"Just what would it take for me to shut you up? I would do anything."
"Huh?" He gasped with a goofy smile,
"Bingo." I realized time to make my move. "Erica, I can't let you do this. How about I take care of him for you."
"You'll do that for me." She hoped, not wanting to hear another word out of the dorky vampire,
"Well, not without a price. For starters, you haven't been very fair to Sarah today."
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean. This blood drive hasn't been kind on her instants. Sarah never wanted to get caught up in the supernatural realm or become a vampire. You need to respect her choice that she wants to be cured. And quit trying to force it on her."
Erica understood where I was coming from and felt a tiny bit of guilt. Sarah's relationship with Jesse was slightly hard on her even though she and Rory were thrilled to become a part of that world. Sarah never wanted it. In a way, Erica was no better than Jesse, forcing Sarah to join a world she wanted nothing to do with.
"Fine, I guess I haven't been very fair to her today. I just want our relationship to be as close as we used to be." Erica replied,
"But it seems you're doing the opposite." Rory added, much to our surprise, "What I have my moments!"
"Promise me you'll stop forcing Sarah into becoming a full vampire, and instead, why don't you help us find a cure for her. While we're at it, stop using Rory for your hair-brained schemes. And stop being mean to Ethen and Benny."
"I'll stop being mean to them for three weeks." Erica offered,
"Give it a month, and you have yourself a deal." I counter-offered,
"Ugh, fine, just please shut him up. I can't take much more of this."
"Glady." I smirked, licking my lips, "Rory… You're mine!" Rory yelped as I lunged at him, slamming into the door as I captured his lips in mine. I knew it was wrong, but at that moment, it felt so right. If kissing the boy of my dreams was so wrong, then baby, I didn't want to be right. And I know what you're thinking. Yes, years later, I realized the error of my ways, and yes, I regret everything.
Meanwhile, all Erica could do was stare. She was mentally beating herself for falling for the sneaky trick I pulled. She was meant to kiss Rory, not me, Emily trusted her to make sure I wouldn't do anything stupid, and she broke that promise. "I am so dead." She thought, dread filling in her gut as she sat frozen while I got my first kiss.
Back outside, things were tense. With Sarah trapped in Annie's hold, all Ethen could do was stand his ground keeping his water gun pointed at Nurse Emily.
"What is that?" She questioned, sniffing the air, "Is that your blood?"
"Yeah, it's all you're going to get," Ethen replied defensively, throwing down the cotton swab.
"Mmm, you don't know what you filled of, do you?"
"Benny's had some ideas about that."
"Your blood is H-deficient-one in a million. One pint is worth more than anything on that truck."
"How about a trade? One pint of my blood in exchange for my friends. And you leave Whitechapel forever." Ethen conditioned,
"Why bargain when we can just take it?" Annie counterclaimed,
"Done." The older nurse agreed,
"What?"
"Annie, why must you do everything the hard way? If you let me up, I can get to work."
"Yeah, and I'll give you all my computer passwords too." The Seer scuffed, "If my blood is coming out, Sarah does the job. I trust her."
"Fine, assuming your fledgling friend can control herself. Whatever makes you more comfortable." Nurse Emily agreed, Ethen let her up while Annie let Sarah go, and they got the preparations ready,
"I'm gonna check on Dakota. I can only imagine how she's doing in there." Emily said, pulling out her phone, unaware that I got my first kiss with Rory and make-out session. The two of us pulled apart, gasping for air,
"Whoa, okay, that just happened." Rory gasped, a little dizzy from banging his head on the door and from the sudden lip contact.
"Whoa, what a rush!" I cheered, "That…." I took a deep breath to regain my surroundings, "That was the best feeling ever."
"Did I seriously just make out with a ten-year-old?" Rory questioned, slightly unsure the past few minutes were kind of a blur.
"You sure did." Erica spoke, now finding her voice, "Oh my gosh, Emily is going to kill us!"
"It's okay. I'll die happy." I responded, feeling like I had the greatest sugar rush in my life. "You know I kind of want a little more."
"Whoa, Dakota, calm down. Let me catch my breath." Rory laughed, pushing me back. In hindsight, he should have used his super strength to push me off, but on the other hand, he knew that could've caused more problems. He still hadn't grasped how to control it, and the last thing he wanted to do was seriously injure me. But was it worth it? Sure, one side of his brain was thrilled he finally got his first kiss, but the more logical side knew that making out with an underage girl was not ideal.
"Erica's right; Emily is going to kill me." Rory feared, even though it wasn't entirely his fault, I was the one who struck first, and it's not like he saw me coming. Oh, who was he kidding? The guardian angel would not listen to reason. All that mattered was he kissed me. And Emily was going to lose it when she found out. Rory was snapped out of his thoughts when Erica's phone started ringing.
"Oh no, it's Emily!" She panicked,
"Act natural she cannot know about this." Rory insisted,
"Gee, Sherlock, I never would have thought of that." Erica snapped sarcastically, answering the call, "Hello?"
"Hey, Erica, it's me. How's Dakota doing?"
"Oh, she's fine. No need to worry," Erica replied, trying to sound casual,
"Okay then, that's good to know. By the way, we should be getting you out in a few minutes. Those vampires were tough but rest assured, Ethen will get you out. See you in a bit." Emily hanged up,
"Did she just say Ethen will save us?" I inquired,
"Yeah, we're doomed."
I shrugged it off. Unlike Erica, I had total faith in my best friend that he would set us free, even if he was scared of needles.
"Okay, it's okay. I know it's hard, but you just have to."
"Done." Sarah spoke, surprising Ethen at how fast and painless it was, "Now take it, and get out of here."
"Hmm, you're a walking blood bank kid. What's stopping us from making more withdrawals." Annie questioned,
"This, for one thing." Ethen revealed, holding up his phone, "One click, and I email the details of your little scam to every school in a thousand-mile radius. No one will roll out the blood red carpet for you again."
"If I, were you, I wouldn't push your luck." Emily taunted, "Rory and Erica might not be smart enough to expose you, but we're not. Imagine what people will say when they find out your phony nurses and the blood you stole isn't going to a good cause, not to mention what will the vampire council say?"
"Behold, the power of technology," Benny spoke dramatically, pressing a button to open the doors. Of course, it did nothing. "Doorus Openus."
Knowing the boy was an idiot, the vampire nurses opened the doors to revile Erica and Rory kissing.
"See, I told you the doors weren't locked," Amy told him so, and that was when she saw the two teens inside. "Oh."
"This isn't what it looks like." Erica defended as Rory jumped out,
"Rory and Erica! What?!" Mabel shouted, "I thought she hated him?!"
"She does something seems fishy." Emily cut in, walking inside to see me spaced out, "Hmm, not moving, spaced out, a small trail of saliva on her lips?! You kissed her, didn't you?!" She accused, grabbing Rory by the shirt.
"Yeah, maybe a little bit."
"Gahh! I knew it. I knew you couldn't control yourself!" The angel yelled as I clumsily got to my feet and tripped on the step. Thankfully Nurse Annie and Emily caught me.
"Alright, what do you have to say for yourself?"
"I have no regrets," I replied happily,
"Of course, you don't." Emily deadpanned, "Okay, Erica, what happened? How did this happen?"
"He wouldn't shut up! Kissing him actually seemed less annoying; then Dakota stepped in, and things escalated from there. I am sorry, okay, I was weak."
"Erica, as someone who willingly spends time with Rory to keep an eye on those two, I feel your pain."
"So, you forgive me?"
"Absolutely not! We wouldn't even be in this mess if you didn't try to rob that blood truck! Not to mention you could have pulled Dakota off of him!"
"Hey, a deal's a deal." I defended myself,
"Quiet you and Rory! I'll deal with you later." She threatened,
"Oh yeah, she's mad." Benny cut in,
"You know she might be the first girl I've met that scares me," Rory added, hiding behind his friend,
"Wait a minute, she gets to kiss him, and I don't?!" Mabel spoke up, glancing at Rory, and she knew what she needed to do.
"Mabel, no." Sarah tried to stop, but it was too late as Mabel not only kissed Rory but fainted shortly after.
"Oh yeah, that felt good."
"Wow, I'm on a roll today! I'm a babe magnet." Rory bounced excitedly as Emily facepalmed,
"Ugh, I'm surrounded by vampire noobs. Let's get out of here." The stern nurse ushered, not wanting to stay any longer, handing me to Emily.
"By the way, I'm no professional, but you might want to get your friend to a therapist," Annie suggested honestly,
"Trust me, I've been wanting to do that all day," Emily replied as the vampire's started the ambulance and drove off, never to be seen again.
"So, you two need a ride home?" Sarah wondered,
"No, we're good, it's nice out, and we could use the flight practice. Come on." She ushered Rory to follow,
"We are so going to make out again." He smiled, following Erica only to get slapped in the face. "Ow! What was that for?!"
"Slap him again for me, please," Emily asked, and Erica did,
"Ow! Okay, that's going to hurt in the morning."
Emily smiled proudly, seeing Rory got what he deserved. "That's what you get for making out with my underaged friend!"
"Well, something tells me Rory wasn't trying too hard to open that door." Benny figured,
"Doorus Openus?" Ethen deadpanned,
"Stupidus Doofusus." Sarah scuffed,
"Come on, guys, let's go home; Dakota, Rory, and I need a little chat," Emily said,
All of us walked home and said goodnight knowing tomorrow things would be returning to normal. Well, as normal as things get in a supernatural town.
As soon as I regained my senses and could walk again, I felt normal again. Sure, I was still in love with Rory, but I felt like I could control myself again. In a way, I to was back to normal. Once Emily opened the door to our home, I knew I was in for it this time.
"Right upstairs, you two, don't come down unless I tell you to. Rory, don't you dare go anywhere!" Mabel and I did as we were told and went to my room, waiting to face the music.
Emily sat on a chair and faced the young blond. "I can't believe you, Rory, you knew Dakota wasn't stable today, and you go and make out with her?! I thought you were better than that, but no! Serves me right for thinking you two could control yourselves!"
"Emily, I didn't kiss Dakota. She kissed me!" Rory interrupted,
"What?"
"Dakota tricked Erica into making a deal to kiss me. She fell for it, and Erica kissed me to keep her from getting in trouble. I didn't even see it coming. Trust me. I didn't realize her condition was that bad. Kissing her and Mabel was never my intention. Emily, I would never take advantage of them. I might not know why you don't trust me, but I would never do anything to endanger them."
Emily sighed, "Okay, Rory, this might sting a little, but you are an idiot."
"You're right. That did hurt." He pouted,
"Look, I want you to have a great relationship with the two. But I can't risk the four of you doing anything inappropriate. This is the first time Dakota's crush has gotten out of hand, and I don't want it to happen again. For all of our sakes, I'm doing this for you too." Emily explained, and Rory understood he did kind of push a boundary today. He really needed to talk with Mabel and me.
"I don't normally tell people about this, but I was taken advantage of too. Not in a sexual way, more in the, my family had an inheritance, and my Ex-boyfriend's family wanted it kind of way. But after cutting him out of my life, I found nothing but cat callers and people who wanted me for my looks than my personality. I know what it feels like, and it doesn't feel good. I haven't dated anyone since, which affected my trust with boys significantly."
"If you have trust issues, why are you telling me this?" Rory questioned though he knew this was leading to something.
"I'm telling you this because I don't want Dakota to suffer what I went through. She's not only a young girl but a sweet one. I don't want one mistake in her past ruining her chances at a healthy love life. And the same goes for you and Mabel. Who knows what will happen if word spreads? It could ruin your reputation."
"Well, first off, I'm sure no one will believe it even if rumors spread, and two. I would never do that to Dakota or Mabel. I might not be the smartest person in your eyes, but I know where I stand. Traumatizing or hurting them is not something I want to do. I love them… You know, as friends, I would rather date someone my age."
"Rory, you might be a dimwitted vampire dork, but you have a good heart, and I know you mean well. I'm sorry about Dakota. I hope she hasn't made you uncomfortable."
"Are you kidding me? She got me my first, second, and third kiss. That's a win in my book!" Rory smiled, making Emily glare at him. "Too soon?"
"You know you really need to work on thinking before you speak." The angel grimaced,
"Yeah, yeah, you're right. So, are we cool?"
"Not completely. For starters, I think we need to talk to Dakota and Mabel about boundaries. Second, I don't want this happening again. You and I both know Dakota's too young for this." Emily explained,
"I know, Emily. If you let me, I'll talk to Dakota. No kissing this time, I promise."
"Good because if I hear any, you are dead, and I mean this time."
Rory understood, and the two went upstairs, where Mabel and I were waiting for our punishment.
"So, was it worth it? Is he a good kisser?" Mabel wondered,
"You tell me you kissed him too." I laughed,
"Yeah, for a split second! You full-on made out with him!" She giggled,
I blushed. It's true I did get a little aggressive with him, "Man, I hope he's okay, I know this is my fault, but I hope Emily is going easy on him." I hoped, "Alright, he was an amazing kisser; it felt so surreal. I know what I did was wrong, but something came over me today; I couldn't control my emotions around him. And the more I stayed away, the more I wanted him. Is that weird?"
"No, or at least not as weird as you think. Lately, I've been feeling the same way, I know we're young, but it's hard to fight the feeling of wanting more than just being friends." Mabel explained,
"Then how do you fight it?"
"I fight it by remembering what my parents will think. I mean, they won't believe Rory's a vampire, but they will believe I kissed a teenager, and now that I said that out loud, I realized my cravings hit a tipping point. I guess I'm with you; I couldn't keep my love inside anymore either; I just hope we didn't ruin things with him."
"Yeah, so do I. We really messed up. Well, more me than you, but Emily will find a way to be upset with all of us." I replied, scratching my head as our door opened to reveal Emily and Rory.
"Emily, I am so sorry. I don't know what came over me today, but I promise it won't happen again." I apologized,
"I'm glad to see you've returned to your senses," Emily said, not as mad as before. "You're still in trouble, but I've decided I'm calling your parents, and I'll let them decide what to do with you. Mabel, come with me. You and I are going to have a little chat."
"But what about Dakota and Rory?"
"I've decided to trust Rory for now; I believe Dakota owes him an apology too. Keep that door open." Emily walked off with Mabel to her room, leaving me alone with Rory. Now that I had regained my sanity, I felt a pit of guilt form in my stomach. Even though it felt great to kiss him, I know I should've had better control over myself.
"Rory, I am so sorry I took advantage of you today. My emotions were all over the place, and all I wanted to do was show you how much I love you. I know what I did was wrong, and I promise I'll try to handle them better."
Rory smiled as he walked up and patted my head, "I'm not mad at you, Dakota. To be honest, I kind of liked it. Don't get any ideas, though. Emily will kill us for real; what I'm saying is I know it must be hard to contain your love for me when you're too young to be in a relationship. But you need to learn to get a grip, I know it's hard to understand at your age, but once you get older, you'll come to regret and wish you had better control."
"I understand, Rory. From now on, I'll control myself better. No more kisses from me unless you want them, then that's a different story." I promised, holding my pinky up,
"Good, and one step at a time, lover girl." The other chucked as we pinky promised, "Now get ready for bed, Emily; allowed me to snuggle with you for a bit."
"Really?!" I jumped excitedly,
"Yeah, but only if you can control yourself."
I stopped jumping and nodded, taking a deep breath to calm myself. "I'll be right back," I said, grabbing my P.J.s and running to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
"So, how'd it go?' Mabel questioned, coming in to do her teeth,
"Fine, actually, Rory isn't mad, but I do need to control myself from now on," I replied,
"Yeah, I just chatted with him. It's the same for me too. But I know it's for the best." She admitted,
"Same here. I don't want to do something that will break us apart, so for our sake, I won't repeat the mistake I did today."
"And I won't either," Mabel swore, spitting out her toothpaste. "Anyway, we've got school in the morning. I'll see you tomorrow, Dakota." Mabel waved as she went to her room,
"Night, Mabes. See you tomorrow." I bid goodnight and went to my room to see Rory sitting on my window seat. I knocked, and without a word, we got into my bed. Laying on my best friend's chest, I realized how weird it was not to hear a heartbeat. Even though Rory was still breathing, the fact his heart stopped showed the extent of the vampire curse.
"It's weird," I spoke,
"What's weird?" He replied,
"Your heartbeat it's gone."
"Well, yeah, it stopped the moment I became a fledgling. I've been undead for almost a month now."
"Has it really been that long?"
"About, we stopped Jesse not long after you arrived, and that was the beginning of the school year. I think that was four weeks ago now."
"Wow, we've known each other for a month now. Hehe, I'm happy I got to know you, Rory. You're one of the greatest friends I've ever met."
"Thanks, right back at you. And thanks for coming to rescue Erica and me."
"No problem, I couldn't leave you hanging. Even if Erica was using you, it wasn't your fault. You didn't know the nurses were vampires. Oh, that reminds me, I have something for you." I said, getting out of bed to my backpack, "While Erica was getting annoyed out of her mind, I snagged a few blood bags since I had a feeling she wouldn't share."
"Dakota, this is incredible. I could kiss you for this!"
"Really!?" I beamed, puckering up,
"But I won't. I'm not breaking my promise to Emily. And You're still too young for me."
I sheepishly scratched my head, cursing my emotions for getting the better of me again, and settled for a hug instead. "Sorry, Rory, guess I need to learn to control myself, huh?"
"Yeah, you do. Emily wants to take you to a counselor tomorrow. You should go. I think they could give you some tips on how to handle your crush on me in a healthier way." Rory agreed,
"Alright, Rory, thanks for looking out for me today, even if I was a little difficult," I replied, getting back in bed while Rory filled his backpack with the blood bags I snagged,
"And thank you for being the best friend I could ever ask for." We continued snuggling until I began to fall asleep, and that was Rory's cue to leave as he carefully lifted me off him and kissed my forehead,
"I'll see you tomorrow, Dakota. Pleasant dreams." He said, leaving my room and quietly closing the door.
At that, I smiled. My heart was filled with love and happiness, knowing I had a unique and understanding best friend in Rory. I will always be grateful for him as my now exhausted body and mind drifted off to sleep.
Me, I hate my OC's insanity it feels like I'm overromanticizing her.
Also, me I love my OC when she gets insane.
Well, that just happened yep Dakota got her first kiss long before she started dating Ventus. I need to write more big sister Erica she was so protective of Dakota, and I loved it. Her and Emily were the MVPs in this chapter and IRL Emily was the one person that kept me together during my real crush on Rory I always knew I was young for the boy but that didn't stop me from crushing on him hard. Honestly, my younger self was more unhinged than you'd think. Of course, it was always exaggerated I'd never do something like that in real life and I've grown out of that faze a long time ago. So, let's get to the important notes.
The older nurse has a name. No in the show she was never named and that began to bother me during the writing of this story I mean Annie got her full name in the Human Vs Vampires Brower game turned mobile app as Annie Vee, but the Older Nurse stayed unnamed, so I decided to head cannon her name as Emily Lalonde named after the actress that portrays her well more like what I thought her name was I knew she shared a name with either Emily or Amy but it turns out her name is Amy Lalonde not Emily but in my opinion Emily sounds better and suits her personality being more strict and at times cruel instead of kind natured which in my eyes the name Amy doesn't suit her. Plus, I'm too lazy to go back and change it so now we have two Emily's in the story. At first, I thought that would be confusing since there would be two Emily's on screen, but I was able to balance it out and it's not like we'll see them again so it's all good.
Emily's trust issues and past relationship: Okay this is kind of an old head cannon about Emily's past I've been using for a long time but basically back when she was alive Emily dated a boy named Dean who happened to have an old family feud with Emily's family both families forbid the two from being together but being young teenagers they didn't listen it wasn't until both became Cursed Heartless Angels that it was revealed Emily and Amy have a large inheritance given to them by their great great grandfather which was something Dean's family always knew about and pressured their son to get closer to Emily and steal it. When Emily found out she broke up with him and suffered from catcalling and many other guys who liked her looks more then who she was on the inside. After that she swore to never fall in love again, and to be fair she's much happier being single anyway so now you know more about Emily's past and the reasons for being distrustful towards Rory that and he annoys her a ton.
Well, fam we've got one chapter left plus the epilogue and this story will finally be complete. Honestly I don't know if this series will return this Halloween I kind of want to work on two stories that have been left unfinished for a while and I think it's time to go back to them but maybe I can work on the next entry in August or September so the series won't be dead for another year anyway last chapter should be out in a few days or less I hope you enjoyed the madness that was my ten year old head cannons and insanity and I'll see you all next time see you guys.
