Chapter 6: The Game With Dementors
Harry woke up happily as he slipped out of bed. He was also nervous as it was his first game of the season. Against Slytherin. Harry put on his quidditch robes before he quietly slipped out of the room through the fireplace. He was suddenly attacked with a hug from Hermione. Harry quickly became furious and an angry Harry is not a good thing. He quickly pried her off of him with a glare.
"Didn't I tell you to not talk to me ever again in the letter I had Dumbledore read?" Harry asked in anger and annoyance. Hermione looked at him sadly before becoming angry.
"How could you?! After everything me and Ron did for you?!" Hermione shrieked, attracting the attention of a few other Gryffindors as Ron walked behind Hermione.
"What you did to me was horrible. You two took away two years from my life. I was on the Imperious Curse for two years and you two did that with Dumbledore." Harry said in a cold, deadly voice. Harry became so furious that his green eyes began glowing and became a yellow mixed with red. Ron and Hermione both flinched at his eyes before turning and walking away. Ron though decided that Harry didn't get enough trouble because he punched him in the eye. Harry's instincts kicked in and he kicked Ron in the head which made him fall to the ground.
At that same time Ginny came out of their room and drew her wand out. In her rage she shot a freezing hex at Ron's crotch area. He immediately began groaning in pain as Harry and Ginny walked out of the portrait hole with innocent faces."I think you removed his ability to have kids."
"I think so too, but imagine how his kids would look like." Ginny said in disgust.
"Dear Merlin, he would have a daughter with an ugly face and an ugly bush of hair. Her hair would be a putrid brown and she would have teeth bigger than a giant beaver. In fact if she would go to the zoo they would think she escaped her cage." Harry described in a fake shudder. Ginny let out a laugh as Harry finished.
"Don't put that image in my head," Ginny said in fake anger.
"Sorry dear," Harry said even though he still had a smile.
"You're whipped." Neville said as he joined them. Over the summer Harry and Ginny wrote to Neville. After a while they became friends and were now talking to each other.
"Hey Nev." Ginny greeted with a smile.
"No I'm not. You just don't know how I am." Harry said with a grin.
"Fair enough." Neville said.
"Are you sure you're ok?" Wood asked as Harry entered the locker rooms. When he entered he saw Wood comforting a crying Katie.
"What happened?" Harry asked worriedly.
"Her family may have to marry Katie off to Malfoy because they had a debt to Malfoy's father." Wood growled out. If that happened Draco Malfoy would probably forbid her from playing so that Slytherin could win.
Harry smirked and quickly called one of his house elves. At Katie's questioning glance he answered the unasked question."You can't marry someone if he isn't alive."
"You didn't…you won't kill Malfoy. As much as I hate him I don't want you to kill him. You would be sent to Azkaban." Katie said.
"That's why I won't kill him. A potions accident will happen during his class tomorrow where he will be hit in the face with an exploding cauldron. He will be knocked unconscious. But his head will coincidently be in the potion that is dangerous if it is exposed to bare skin." Harry said with a cruel grin.
"You are the most Slytherin Gryffindor I've ever seen." Wood said with a smile as he saw that Katie had cracked a weak smile.
"Thank you."
"No problem. NOW LET'S GIVE THE SLYTHERINS HELL!" Harry yelled to the team.
"I'm the captain, Potter. GIVE THE SLYTHERINS HELL!" Wood yelled as well. The team shook their heads in amusement.
"AND HERE COMES THE GRYFFINDOR TEAM Johnson, Spinnet, Bell, Wesley, Wesley, Wood AND…POTTER!" Lee Jordan announced through his charmed microphone.
"Here comes the Slytherin team! Flint, Warrington, Montague, Derrick, Bole, Bletchey AND…MALFOY!" Lee announced less enthusiastically.
"Shake hands," Madam Hooch, the referee, ordered. The two captains did as they were told and shook hands. It looked like they were trying to break each other's hand.
"Madam Hooch releases the Bludgers and Snitch. And she releases the quaffle! Johnson starts the game by throwing the quaffle to Spinnet. Spinnet barely dodges a bludger. It looks like the Slytherins are finally training."
"Lee!" Mcgonagal scolded.
"Sorry, Professor. Spinnet passes to Bell. Bell over to Johnson."
Harry began to stop listening to the commentary as he looked for the snitch.
"Do you really think that your poor team can beat our team?" Malfoy sneered.
"No. We would torture your team not beat it." To prove his point Gryffindor scored twice. Harry didn't hear what Malfoy said as he began to search for the snitch. Twice he saw a glint of gold. Both times it was just a Gryffindor uniform. That was when he saw a glint of gold that wasn't a uniform.
It appeared that Malfoy also saw it. Harry raced towards it. Malfoy was following closely behind, but the snitch kept shooting upwards. It was like a professional level snitch, but he knew that they wouldn't use one in a Hogwarts level match. They burst through the clouds. The sky turned gray, it became cold, he suddenly felt as if he would never be happy again. Hopelessness and despair crept up on him and he shivered. A screaming sound and begging closely followed. Harry knew that it was in his head, but he knew that the cause of it wasn't a mental thing. It was physical.
A swarm of black hooded figures flew in front of them and were rapidly approaching. Harry shivered. He reached out to grab the snitch. Malfoy did the same. That was when the wood of their brooms froze. As did the end of it. The broom stopped and began to drop…they were falling. Harry's instincts reacted quickly. He turned into a hawk and shot straight to the ground. All that the crowd could see was that a giant hawk that was almost the size of a small plane diving to the ground. Many people screamed out in fear as the massive bird landed on the pitch. Malfoy was seen falling out of the sky. Dumbledore stood up as did most of the other professors. He yelled,"Arresto Momento!"
Malfoy began to fall slowly instead of barrelling at the speed of a broom. Mcgonagall conjured a large inflatable crash pad. Malfoy fell onto the pad in pain as a crack went through the air. He began to clutch his arm in pain. Madam Pomfrey ran to him, carrying her medical bag which had many potions that she gave to him. Harry transformed back into a human silently.
"What happened?" Professor Mcgonagall asked worriedly as she hugged him. This was to the shock of everyone as the normally stern and professional professor hugged a student. Mcgonagall had talked to Harry over the summer and had quickly become like a grandmother to him. Which was in fact quite accurate to what she actually was. She was the godmother of James Potter who was Harry's father.
"Dementors. Hundreds of them. I managed to transform into a hawk and fly down here safely." Harry said as he panted. Professor Lupin rushed over to him when he heard the word Dementor and gave him a bar of Honeydukes best chocolate bar. Harry thanked him and ate it quickly. Through his connection with Ginny he heard her muttering about how they could continue a match if someone nearly died.
"Are you all ready?" Madam Hooch asked as they mounted their brooms. When she received positive responses she blew her whistle. She then released the Snitch, Quaffle and two Bludgers.
"And they're off once more after the Dementors striked at the quidditch match. You could call it a Half-time break." Lee announced as the players began to play again.
Harry was watching the game a bit while also looking for the snitch. Katie scored as Draco attempted to trick him.
"And Malfoy has seen the snitch!" Lee yelled through his microphone.
Harry smirked as he knew exactly what Malfoy was going to do. So he gave in. He followed Malfoy with high speeds. Once Harry was right behind Malfoy he also dived to the ground as that was what Malfoy did. Harry pulled up before Malfoy. Draco grumbled when he saw that Harry didn't fall for it. Harry grinned and did the same thing as Malfoy. He quickly shot into the air and began to look around. Harry shot to the ground and saw that Malfoy did as well.
"And Potter has seen the snitch!" Lee announced enthusiastically. Harry saw the real snitch quite far away, but he focused on knocking Malfoy out. Harry was about to hit the ground when he pulled out of the dive. But it was too late for Malfoy as he plowed into the ground below. With a snap his broom broke and with a louder crack his arm twisted in a painful looking way. Harry didn't pay attention to him though as he shot after the real snitch. Harry grinned as he stretched his hand out and grasped the Snitch with his thumb and index finger.
Harry flew to the center of the pitch with the snitch in his raised hand. The team swarmed him like dangerous bees finding a target that was trying to steal their honey. The Gryffindor chaser hugged him first while Fred and George both slapped him in his back. Wood patted him on the shoulder.
"And Gryffindor has won the first game of the Quidditch Season with Harry Potter marvelously catching the snitch after tricking Slytherin Seeker, Draco Malfoy!" Lee announced with a grin. Mcgonagall was smiling which was almost impossible to see as a student.
Professor Lupin was the first one to congratulate him as he reached Harry first. Professor Lupin was a middle aged man with graying brown hair and he was quite tall. Almost as tall as Dumbledore. He was also the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor.
"Good job out there Harry. You're even better than your father and he was one of the best flyers Hogwarts has ever seen."
"You knew my father?" Harry asked with a curious smile.
"Yes we were friends during our school days. We had a group of friends. It was James, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black and me. Me and Black are the only ones left of the group as the other two died during the war. Sirius, as you probably already know, was sent to Azkaban for betraying your parents to You-Know-Who." Remus informed him with a smile as he remembered his childhood. Harry knew that the part about Sirius was wrong. Harry only knew of one way to tell Remus the truth.
"Professor, can you teach me how to repel Dementors?" Harry asked. Lupin looked thoughtful for a bit before he answered.
"I believe you could do it. You do have the highest mark in my class. You can come into my office on Saturday after dinner so we can talk about how many times a month I teach you." Lupin said with a smile.
"Alright, thank you." Harry said with a smile. He turned around and walked away. He was also a bit wary of the inevitable party in the Gryffindor Common Room.
Author's Notes: I would like to say that I will still be posting on this story. It's just that I want to finish my other story that I am currently trying to finish before I focus on this one. Secondly, I went on a vacation so I didn't really have time to write or do
anything. I hope you all have a great day. :)
