"I'm coming dad." Brendan said, as the ship cut through the waves like a hot knife through butter. "I won't leave without you."

"Your dad?" Glacia said calmly. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but you seemed worried."

"It's fine, you'd find out soon enough anyways." Brendan said. "My dad was taken by Team Aqua about a month back. When I tried interfere with their plans, his life was threatened."

"We'll take every precaution to keep him safe." Glacia assured.

"I'm not staying out of this job." Brendan informed.

"I wasn't suggesting that." Glacia said. "We simply need a way to move quickly without you being detected."

"Wait, really?" Brendan asked in shock. He had figured he'd have to put up a fight for this.

"You will rescue your father, I promise." Glacia said.

As the ship slowed to a stop, Brendan and Wally looked off into the distance.

"This is as far as we go." Drake said. "Hope you boys can swim."

"We'll manage." Wally said.

Five minutes later

"You know when you said, 'We'll manage.' I figured you'd float in with help from Kirlia or fly in via Vibrava, not hitch a ride with Marshtomp." Brendan whispered.

"Yeah, that probably would have made more sense." Wally admitted. "Too late now."

"You need to catch a water type." Brendan groaned.

"You know you like this." Wally joked as they entered the doorway.

"Stay alert, from here on we are at battle." Steven said with an oddly calm demeanor.

"Remember they use Water Types so grass and electric types are our best options." Brendan said.

"Umm." Glacia said, pausing, and looking at Drake.

"Don't worry, we've got super effective, you guys just deal the heavy hits." Brendan said, grabbing two Pokeballs.

As if they were waiting to hear that, a huge group of Team Aqua grunts rushed in from every direction possible.

"Salamence clear a path!" Drake called out his faithful companion.

Salamence launched a Hyper Beam towards the main doors, causing any and every Team Aqua grunt to dive out of the way of the attack

"Go now!" Drake commanded. "I'll hold the line."

Drake turned back around to face the grunts only to see Wally had stayed behind.

"Kid I told you to go!" Drake said.

"And I'm not leaving, I'm plenty strong to handle my own." Wally said. "Cacturne use Needle Arm! Roselia use Petal Dance! Magnemite use Thundershock!"

Drake watched bemusedly at Wally's Cacturne went right after a Crawdaunt and sent it flying as his smaller two Pokémon worked together to hold off the hordes of Poochyena and Zubat.

"Can't let him have all the fun. Salamence use Dragon Claw! Flygon use Crunch!" Drake called out.

The two dragons joined Wally's Pokémon in the onslaught, keeping the battle fairly even.

Elsewhere, in the far end of the hideout

"Wake him up!" Archie demanded.

"I can't do that." Professor Birch said in defiance. "I'm a researcher of habitats, not ancient legends."

"And if you want your son to stay safe, you'll do as I say." Archie threatened.

"Fine, just promise once I tell you what to do, you'll let me see him." Professor Birdh plead.

"Fine, now what do I have to do!" Archie demanded.

"The blue orb needs a link to wake up Kyogre, but I must warn you, there's a chance that kind of power will kill anyone who absorbs it." Professor Birch explained.

Back with the group

"Okay hold on, give me five minutes and I can figure out which teleporters to take." Steven said.

"No time." Brendan exclaimed, rushing into a teleporter.

Moments later, Brendan appeared on the other side of the first set of teleporters.

"This will take more time than I thought." Brendan sighed. "Let me try it again!"

"Brendan, hold on." Steven said, to a useless extent as he already ran into another teleporter.

'Drip drip drip'

"That one led to the docks." Brendan groaned.

"Now if you'd simply wait, we can find out which one to take." Steven said.

"Hold on, if we let him keep going, eventually he'll find the right teleporter." Glacia pointed out.

"Third times the charm." Brendan said cheerfully, before rushing into a teleporter.

"Brendan?" Professor Birch said, seeing his son rush through.

"Dad!" Brendan exclaimed. "I was so worried about you! They didn't hurt you did they?"

"I should be asking you the same thing. They said they'd hurt you if I didn't cooperate." Professor Birch said.

"Oh, did I fail to mention we never had him?!" Archie cackle as he began to glow blue as red lines speared up and down his body.

"Brendan, you need to get out of here, Archie has absorbed the power of the blue orb.

"I'm not leaving without you dad." Brendan said.

"So be it." Archie said with a smile. "Walrein come out!"

"Electrike i choose you!" Brendan called out.

The small electric dog stood it's ground against the walrus Pokemon, sparks of electricity flying from his fur.

"Electrike use Thunder!"

"Walrein use Sheer Cold!"

The temperature in the room dropped rapidly as things began to slow down, ice beginning to encase Electrike.

"Brendan, remember your lessons." Professor Birch said.

"I know, but there's still a chance. Electrike use Charge!" Brendan called out.

Static electricity began building up on Electrike's fur as the ice crept up his body.

"Electrike try Thunder again!"

"Walrein use Encore!"

More static began building on Electrike's fur, before he was completely encased in the ice.

"Electrike!" Brendan exclaimed.

"Don't worry, you'll be joining him soon." Archie laughed

Just then a bright glow came from the center of the block of ice, as a new Pokémon emerged.

"Manectric!" Brendan cheered.

"Aroof!" Manectric barked, before staring Walrein down.

"Manectric use Thunder!"

A burst of electricity shot out from Manectric, sending Walrein crashing into a wall.

"Now as for you." Brendan said turning only to see that when Manectric was evolving Archie had made his escape.

"Brendan." Professor Birch said. "I'm so proud of you."

"Dad don't say those things, you'll be fine." Brendan cried.

"I know, your mother will be happy I finally lost those 30 pounds, but I'm proud of the trainer you've become." Professor Birch said. "But you need to stop Archie, he's heading for Sootopolis to begin sinking all of Hoenn into the water."

"What about you dad?" Brendan asked.

"I'll get him to Lilycove, it's not far and they'll be able to treat him there." Glacia said. "The rest of you need to go to Sootopolis and stop this."

"But how, we haven't figured out how to get there?" Wally asked, as he and Drake finally caught up.

"Between Salamence and Metagross, we should make it in decent time." Drake said. "As long as you're up for the challenge."

"Better than the two of us riding on Marshtomp." Brendan joked. "Alright let's go."

"Go get 'em son." Professor Birch said affirmatively.
