Lost Sister

Lady Countryrose

Ch. 10

The next day, Hermione had woken up early, even as early as six o'clock. She had taken a shower and dressed for the day. Then made it into the Great Hall, only to sit next to Severus Snape, at the Slytherin table

"How is being Head Boy," asked Hermione.

Severus glanced at her, in his dull, I don't really care look. "How is being the talk of the school, Heiress of Hogwarts?"

Hermione sighed, "Are you going to have a jealous fit towards me too?"

Severus smirked at her, it was odd seeing him like this, even without being her potions' professor. "Only if you found an old potions book by Salazar Slytherin, then yes, I may have a jealous fit towards you."

Hermione chuckled, she had hoped that he would never change. "You will be the second person to read it, after I have read it first."

Severus gave her a hard look. Before a grin faced his lips. "I guess, I can live with that. But it won't stop me from bugging you, until I have my hands on it."

Hermione turned towards him. "I guess you can live with a copy that I know you could write on the margins with, and I keep the original."

Severus looked like he was going to say something. Before seeing his lips snap shut. She had him, both of them knew, and he wasn't going to fight her on it. Just as, Lily came and sat next to Hermione.

"So," growled Lily. "Did you enjoy a tower to yourself?"

Hermione was never a violent person, not even hitting Harry in the back of the head for his cheek. She had come close to reins violently against Ron, and everyone knew that he deserved it. But Lily was a hair strain away from Hermione to snap on her.

"Lily," Hermione had turned to her twin with an edge to her voice. "This Friday night, I was thinking about you sleeping over. But if you can't keep your anger in check, I will not do so."

"I…" Lily sighed and closed her eyes. "I have no idea why I am this way, Hermione. I think I am feeling hurt, angry and scared. I guess, I would have wanted you near me, if we came to Hogwarts together. And after all this time, you're here and still not together. I just snapped at you."

"Just remember, Lily. I did not kidnap myself and be away from you. I did not tell the hat to do what the Hell had happened. I am still your sister. Even when you marry and have your own kids and grow tired of me. Because you will have your own home, and I will have my own as well."

"Could we still be neighbors or live close to one another," Lily had asked.

Hermione sighed, "You do realize, we have magical ways of travel. If we need to see each other."

Severus was chuckling, while he was listening to them. "I never imagined that the two of you could be entertaining."

Lily crushed her nose at him. "I wonder what made Headmaster Dumbledore change his mind to take Head Boy from Potter and Captain?"

Severus snorted, "His mother, we were there to hear her say those things to him. But I never knew she could have the power to do it."

They turned towards the Head Table, only to see the cold blue stare of his eyes on them. It was new, to say the least. Where they had nearly forgotten that he was a powerful wizard at one point in his life. Then they noticed many people had mixed their way into the four tables. Before the doors banged open, just as the last four of the Gryffindor boys came stumbling in.

Headmaster Dumbledore stood up at that moment. "It had come to my attention that we have lacked a few choice studies for our studies at Hogwarts. As of today, there will be no classes until the start of next week. Along with that, new classes will come to start things, and I encourage everyone to think about their future employment. With that in mind, everyone needs to sign up for six to seven classes, more if their schedules can allow it. Starting next week, we could be having more teachers at the school."

As he pulled out his wand, the whole walls of each side of the Great Hall had shown some lists. "As you can see for yourself, these will be the classes available for next week. I am asking the seventh years to sign up first. At each sign up area, there will be a summary of what the class entitles. Enjoy the rest of the week."

Hermione turned back to Lily and saw her sadness in her eyes. With a deep breath. "No matter the class, Lily, I am willing to study with you."

Only to cause Lily to have a golden glow of happiness. As her red hair shined in an unearthly glow. She then glanced over towards James, seeing him falling for her even more. As she heard him moan, "I want her to look at me like that, every day as I wake up."

'If that wasn't creepy as Hell, I wouldn't know what was?' She shivered in her seat. 'How was Harry even born?'

Her eyes turned towards Severus, as she witnessed his ice-covered heart melt at the sight of Lily being happy. 'Well, at least he is less creepy.' She could almost see Harry as a mix of Severus and Lily. His same emerald green eyes, and Lily's nose. But Severus's smooth hair, high cheekbones and much taller than he was.

'Yep, Harry could have better looks if Severus was his father.' Hermione had finished her breakfast and started to walk around the room, with Lily and Severus following her. Along with most of all, the seventh year following at their heels.

Hermione had signed up for potions, charms, transfiguration, DADA, and ancient Runes. Out of the main lists of what was added. Hermione had signed up for Mages History. Along with muggle defense with weapons, and freelance studies of the magical arts.

She had found that Lily and Severus had signed up with the same ones as her. Even though she was forced to add a couple of clubs. Astronomy became more of a club than a class, but she didn't sign up for it. But she did sign up for myths and legends and how to understand them, along with how to write legal documentation. She believed if she was going to change laws, she was going to need to know how to sound like she knew what she was doing.

Severus was taking the class in order to write his own petition forms. As for Lily, it was to help her own reference books, as she made new spells. As for the myths and legends, she glared at Lily over it. Only to voice that she may want to be a fictional author. While Severus groaned and said that it might help with the new history class.

She had prevented Sirius and James from taking those classes. As for Remus, he had found others to occupy his time with. One of them was how to live with a werewolf club. Along with how to provide first aid for werewolves. Sirius had signed up for that class to aid Remus.

James, she had found, signed up for Lord's training in Wizengamot. She had felt that he was going to need it. Since he was his father's heir and would need to sit in his father's seat, soon.

The other one, Sirius shared with him, was the aurora club. It was for those that wanted to join the law enforcement division at the ministry. It would give them an added bonus before leaving Hogwarts.

Peter was another story, he joined something that she would never picture him doing, art. While he signed up for charming music. She had seen, what little she had noticed from the night before, was him charming a small violin, and it played soft music. That reminded Hermione of a soft romantic song. 'What made him hate so much?'

It was a running question she had, since third year. Along with so many others behind it. Hermione had played around with an idea about going into his mind and see for herself what made him change.

After signing up for classes and clubs. Lily begged Hermione to take her to her lone tower. So with a heavy sigh, she took Lily up to the North Tower. Leaving Severus alone to do some reading. She whispered her password and allowed Lily in.

Like the Gryffindor common room setup, but in a deep purple and gold mixed color room. Everything else was the same layout, except the painting over the fireplace. It was Hogwarts when it was freshly built. Looking over the Black Lake, without the added stuff behind the castle, things like a second bridge from the Forbidden Forest, or the Quidditch pitch, just off the side. No, those things were not built for many years to come.

After Lily had looked around, she faced Hermione with a 'I will not budge' look. "Can you tell me what happened last night, from your view point?"

Hermione sighed, she told her that she met a little girl, named Sarah Miller, who was scared to be away from her family. Crossed the lake, helped the young ones out of the boats. Went up the stairs and then waited to be allowed into the Great Hall. Waited a long time as she saw the angered heat from Headmaster Dumbledore to Uncle Tom.

"I had seen that too, but that is not what I was asking," fired off Lily.

Then the sorting, before it was her turn. Where the hat had no idea where to place her.

"You are loyal, beyond measure. You have wit that none would ever strive for. Brave, like any highlander has ever had. Along with cunning, not in a way that you fear, child. No, yours is a mix of wit. You don't want another war, and from what I could see in your head. Neither would I. But the hard part is to place you…"

Hermione heard herself say those words and saw the pain in Lily's eyes. It only showed that they were far different from what Lily had believed. Lily closed her eyes in anger, "So, being you is never going to be a calm life, is it?" Her eyes opened only to show her emeralds becoming very bright. "What happened in your life, prior to being here?"

Hermione sighed, "I thought I was an only daughter to the Grangers. Where I had started going to a magic school in 1991, to Hogwarts."

Lily gaped at her. "Do you honestly believe," her voice picked up, with a growl in the end. "THAT I WOULD BELIEVE A STORY LIKE THAT!" Her eyes glared at her hard.

Hermione looked around the common room, where she saw a Pensive was sitting at a corner. She waved her wand, calling it over towards her. She then placed it in front of her. Furthermore, she then placed a few memories within the bowl. Before waving Lily towards it.

Without a second thought, Lily dove into her memories. After a few moments, Lily came out with tears in her eyes. "Do I have to marry him to have Harry," she whimpered softly.

Hermione shook her head. "No, Harry can have a different father. But no, you don't have to be with him, unless you want to."

Lily cried, as she ran towards Hermione and hugged her close. "A troll made Harry to be your friend?!"

"Mainly because of Ron," she tried to stand up for Harry. "To be fair, he had some trust issues about whom to trust."

"Then the headmaster used students like puppets. Before Severus died, because he still loved me after my long death. As he tried to keep Harry safe. But you," she cried harder. "Didn't know that Harry was family, but saved him all the same!"

"Every day," she supplied, as she held Lily close.

"I'm sorry, Hermione. I am so very sorry," Lily cried even more. "Please, blame it on my red-headed temper. Or my poor attempt at jealousy."

Hermione smiled as a laugh left her lips. "Lily, you are my sister and I will always love you. But know this, after today, I have a right to curse your little arse of yours."

Lily giggled, she then pulled away to look into her eyes. "Deal, but did you leave someone behind?"

Hermione shook her head. "No, there was no one." Even if she had feelings for Ronald Weasley, she learned after he had left, he was only a good friend. He was never strong enough to stay around for anything serious.

Hermione went to her room and changed into a lilac button-down shirt and gray slacks. Before they went to the Headrooms. Where Lily dragged Hermione to, and she dressed into a polo green shirt and black slacks. The two then went to the Great Hall and ate lunch.

Where the marauders came out of nowhere and sat around them. Where James sat next to Lily, while Sirius sat next to Hermione.

"Hello, my Lily blossom, where have you been this fine day," James asked, his voice thick with romantic enthusiasm.

Lily turned towards Hermione, the two looked at each other. Before they magically switched places. Where Hermione turned towards James with a harsh look. Causing James to gulp. "Hello, I don't think we have actually met, but I have met Lady Potter. Do I need to add her to our correspondence?"

James licked his dry lips. "Now see here, I was having a lovely conversation with Lily…"

"You mean my twin sister," Hermione had glared at him. "Well, she doesn't want to talk to you."

"I…where have you been? You haven't been here for Lily for the last six years!"

Hermione's eyes glowed a golden color. Where it caused James to shiver. "I was Bloody kidnapped, if you must know. I was even hunted and nearly killed, before I had managed to see her again. So, where was I?! I WAS IN A WAR!"

Hermione cried loudly, as many people had turned to look at her. "The only person who cared to find me was our Uncle Tom. So, if you don't back off, from my sister. I will show you one of your nightmares that looks like it's a walk in a park."

"Ms. Evans," a voice called to her. Causing her and Lily to turn. "Yes," the two had answered.

The man blinked at them. Only for Hermione to realize that it was their new DADA professor, Professor Potter. He had given a soft sigh, "I see who my wife was talking about. Were you the young lady who told her about James's exploits?"

Hermione stood up from her seat to face him. She had nothing to hide. "I am."

The elder Potter turned towards James and then at Lily. Before looking into Hermione's eyes. "How far has this gone?"

"Harassment level, Lord Potter," she stated simply. "He hasn't been taking the word no, very well. He acts like everything is a joke and women's opinions don't even matter, sir."

Lord Potter sighed, "After seeing and hearing what was said. I see the reason behind my wife's decision about your seventh year, James." He went from talking towards Hermione to end his statement to his son. "Time for you to find a woman who wants to have you in her life. Not someone who is afraid that you have wronged her as a woman."

Sirius had spoken up from his seat. "Oh come off of it Pops! Women were made to stand at our sides, save them from themselves and provide us heirs."

Hermione turned towards him with heat in her eyes. "I guess the statement of womanizer hasn't phased you much, has it?"

"Nope," Sirius smiled cheeky. "I do care how I treat them. As long as they walked away satisfied, after the encounter."

Lord Potter gaped at the two boys. He then turned towards Peter and Remus. "And you two?"

Peter blushed harshly. "Candy and flowers, with a poem or two. Since they seem just as kind and sweet to want to hurt."

Remus closed his eyes. "I leave them alone. Schooling has been important to me. Love can find me later."

Lord Potter turned to the two other boys. "See, they know what to do. Now come with me, you will be serving detention with Hagrid this weekend. Along with ten points, each, from Gryffindor for your lack of kindness."

"Charlus Potter," called out Headmaster Dumbledore in his kind grandfather voice. While many within the room had shown their, 'are you kidding' faces. But he seemed to have not cared. "They are young and might not know what they have been doing…"

"That is the point, Albus," called out Charlus Potter with a harsh sounding voice. "No one has bothered to teach them!"

"Dad/Pops, we were just having some fun," the two voiced their opinions. But everyone around them groaned, even Remus and Peter had groaned with everyone else.

"What is this, mutiny," cried Sirius Black.

Hermione sighed, as Lily stood up and walked closer to her. They had each crossed their arms and leaned into each other.

"Wow, that is hot," moaned James. While Sirius nodded his head in agreement.

Hermione glared at the two of them, harshly. Before, Professor McGonagall came and stood before the girls, blocking the boys from seeing them. "I agree, the school has done nothing to prevent them from acting out. But under the contracts that we sign every year. We have very little to discipline anyone for any action. We would have to have the headmaster to get a hold of either the parents or the board of governors. In either case, I have not heard anything about it."

Only for Charlus Potter to turn towards the headmaster again. "What do you say, Albus? What measures have you done to prevent this from happening?"

"I…" But Hermione knew the answer and spoke up. "He hasn't done anything, because he doesn't care who gets hurt, as long as they finish Hogwarts."

"Good thing there are no classes tomorrow," Charlus spoke darkly. "As of tonight, Albus, you are temporarily stepping down as headmaster."

"Now see here!"

"I am calling for an emergency Board of Governors meeting in the morning," yelled Charlus Potter. As he spoke over the aging headmaster. "As of right now, Deputy Headmistress, Professor McGonagall, is in charge!"

Albus glanced down in despair, as the castle shook and the glow from the headmaster to Headmistress was shown the change of power over the school. The students looked at one another with worry. No one has ever heard of this happening before. Except for Hermione, it was how Albus Dumbledore had gotten into office, by forcing Professor Armando Dippet out of office. Back when, Dumbledore had thought Dippet was helping Tom Riddle, as he ruled the school from the shadows.

Lily whispered into Hermione's ear. "What is going on?"

"Headmaster Dumbledore was in charge of the school, allowing a group of students free rein, as they ruled the school. Allowing them to do as they wished, with little to no punishment for their misdeeds. Lord Potter, is giving the power back to the school, by calling the Board of Governors." Hermione turned to Lily with a kind smile. "Hoping to talk more than the budget that keeps the school running."

Professor McGonagall had turned to give each girl a knowing look. "I will make sure of that. But I must ask on your behalf, what would you like to see changed?"

Lily had fired off, "Punishments on discrimination, no matter how it looks, women do have a right and a voice."

Hermione nodded her head. "Bullying of any kind needs to be stopped. They need to know that every action that they use, has an opposite reaction. Even being pulled from Quidditch for a season is an option."

James looked at her harshly. "I don't know how you can be my beautiful Lily flower's sister! But I will make sure of one thing, she will stop loving you, once she is with me."

Hermione gave out an irritated war cry. "Try and see how far that lasts. Because in our family, Potter, we stick together. Even when we don't like each other. We will stand for one another and take the world by storm."

James looked fearful, "Then what do you have planned for us, if we don't stop?"

Hermione smirked, "A war among pranks, the kind that you don't see coming. But know who has got you. You see, once I start, I won't stop until you say mercy." She gave him an innocent looking smile, before she whipped her hair and walked away.

Lily had done the same and together, they walked out of the Great Hall. They made their way into the library. Hermione led them where Tom had told Hermione about the secret room. She spoke 'star' in Parseltongue, before the bookcase opened to a hidden room. Before closing it behind them, leaving them in a nice, cozy place.

"What is this place?"

Hermione smiled softly, "This was Salazar Slytherin's daughter's secret spot. She came here to hide and read." She walked around and found some old books, written by all the founders. She had taken the potions books and made two copies. One to give to Severus Snape and another, for Hermione to see what changes he had made with the books.

She then found a book on charms. Doing the same thing with that book, before giving one to Lily, since it was written by Helena Ravenclaw. As it was written, a year before, she had finished Hogwarts. The two of them had read through Helen's book. As she read, Hermione understood why Helena had stolen the Diadem of Ravenclaw. It was slowly killing Rowena Ravenclaw, as it was sucking the life out of her, as she overused the crown.

Helena had tried to use it once. Only to find not just the reason for her mother's illness. But also the power hungry that gives to people, once they have started to use it. Yes, it would help someone, give them more wit and wisdom. But that power had to come from somewhere, and it came from their life-force.

Helena did not believe that it was enough of a gamble for anyone to use. So she stole it. Only to find that it could hardly be broken. She then ran away with it in her hands, only to get herself killed. As Baron S. Slytherin had shortly added in Helena's book, before he had sent the crown and book back, before ending his own life. Because he had loved Helena.

Hermione felt sorry for Helena and Baron. She would need to talk to them, before long. She just hoped that it would be a nice conversation. Before long, it was time to leave their hiding spot. They had gone down and sat next to Severus at the Slytherin table.

"Have you heard," he asked them. "Potter will be serving detention in the Forbidden Forest with Black, for a few nights this week. Saying that Professor Potter wants them to learn self-control."

Hermione may have wanted James and Sirius to learn a lesson. Since no one had told them that how they were pranking was bad. No one but Severus Snape had fought back. Now that Professor Potter was in school, she just hoped that they would learn their lesson and fast. It would be the end of their seventh year before they knew it. Not enough time to grow up.

Lily turned towards her. "Should we tell him," she had asked.

Hermione sighed and spoke softly. "He already knows Lily. Tom called him, because Lucius Malfoy knew that Severus was great at potions. And I came here with littoral war wounds, Lily. Severus had healed me, under Tom's watchful eyes."

Lily glanced into Hermione's eyes before doing the same to Severus. She leaned forward and whispered ever so softly. "Is Uncle Tom, this Lord Voldemort? If so, what is going on that you had to be around him, Hermione?"

Hermione bit her lip. Causing Lily to have more of a focus. "He was the one that sent me into the future. During the day of the final battle, I had rammed a sword into him. Before he had died, he had sent me back, to prevent the wars from happening again. I am the only one who can legally kill him, without having to go to Azkaban for it."

Lily gaped at her for a moment. She looked lost and confused. "So, our uncle killed me, because my son had the power to stop him?"

Hermione nodded her head. "Yeah, that was the gist of it." She then looked towards Severus, as she saw the hurt and pain in his eyes. As he tried to lock his emotions down. 'It's like seeing a far younger version of Professor Snape.' It was then that she had realized how much emotional pain that he had carried, throughout his old age.

As they had eaten their food, they saw the marauders coming into the Great Hall, a little late. It looked like James and Sirius looked exhausted. While Remus and Peter had looked pale. 'Something must have happened to cause that kind of reaction on the four of them.'

"Hey, Potter," she saw someone walking towards the group with a cheerful smile. "What happened to the four of you?"

"Not now Diggery," glared, James Potter, towards the Hufflepuff.

Peter stuttered, "It…bad. His mum, angry…not enough…word for it. She rained Hell…on us. We all have to…serve our lesson…this weekend."

The Hufflepuff blinked at them with a worried look. "What kind of lesson?"

Remus glanced up, making Hermione shiver, as she had never seen him so scared. It nearly stopped her heart to see it on him. "We were told that this weekend. We have to allow anyone we had wronged, even annoyed, to allow them to prank us. And we cannot fight back, and the one that we have wronged so much, is Severus Snape."

Hermione had felt many eyes had turned towards them. Since she was sitting with Severus Snape, at that very moment. Only to see his eyes sparkle, and his smirk grew very large. It was frightening to see it on his face. He was going to be unleashed and Hermione had no power to stop him.

Severus leaned forward towards her and softly spoke, "Since it has been four against one. I would like you to help me. Even with two against four, it would be an even challenge, even for you."

Hermione sighed, she had never planned on being part of the pranking war. But she knew with her helping him, the marauders won't get killed. "Alright, but I am only doing this for this weekend. After that, if either one of you ropes me for another round. But know this, the only way to stop me from hurting anyone, is my moral compass. If anyone hurts my sister in any of this, my moral compass will not be enough to stop me."

She saw James looking fearful. Sirius looked a little odd, because she didn't understand his look. Then there was Remus and Peter, who looked at each other as they looked like they should hide for a while. But no matter what happens, she was dragging them into it. They were a part of the friend group, and they had done nothing to stop any of it.

Lily sighed, as she grabbed Hermione's hand and gave her a quick squeeze. "Be careful," she whispered softly. "I don't think this is worth the school wide war against them." She bit her own lips, as they heard her slip up. Talking about a war that would never happen.

Severus sighed, as he hadn't realized that Hermione shared her knowledge with Lily. "It has been a long time coming, Lily. They need a dose of their medicine." Without another word, they enjoyed their dinner. They were going to start their planning in the Head common rooms, after dinner.
