Lost Sister
Lady Countryrose
Ch. 12
As the day had gone on, she had noticed many things. Hogwarts, as a whole, from the teachers and all the students, had taken a big sigh of relief. The two major players of the marauders were being handled and been running around the grounds of the school. It had been a couple of hours, as she watched the tired boys. Charlus flew on his broom, next to James, while Alastor was on his own, next to Sirius.
"I still can't believe it," sighed Lily with a happy smile. "You had stopped the two main bullies."
"Lily," she heard the soft warning tones from Severus Snape. "I don't think it wise to stir the hornet's nest, while things seem calm at the moment."
"Agreed," yawned Hermione. She couldn't help it. As she watched James and Sirius, it just made her tired. "When is dinner?"
Severus had pulled out his pocket watch. "About thirty minutes. We could start heading there now, if you would like."
"Please," she grumbled, before she was helped onto her feet again. Before she was led back into the castle. Where she sat at the Ravenclaw table, as Lily and Severus sat across from her.
"Why are you so tired," huffed Lily.
Hermione shrugged her shoulders. "Bored, or the weather is going to change soon."
"Fall is around the corner," reported Severus. As he helped pile food on Hermione's plate. "Now eat, you still have potions to take."
She glared at him. "How long do I need to take them for?"
"About another week, then we can start cutting them down. These are the kind that you have to slowly get off of."
Lily bit her lip. "Something tells me that you haven't told me everything."
Hermione sighed, she didn't need to look around to know that the Great Hall was piling in. With that Tom Riddle had come to the school for dinner that night. Sitting next to Headmistress McGonagall, looking to be having a tense discussion.
"Not here," Hermione mumbled out softly.
Lily smiled brightly, "You really are going to tell me?" Her eyes were full of sadness, letting Hermione know how she had unsetted her. But her lips were pulled back into a smile. Letting Hermione know that she couldn't prevent herself from not telling her.
Dinner that night was enjoyable and nice. Especially when the four boys were actually quiet and calm. Making Hermione believe that the two, who were jointly in charge, had too much energy to spare. They needed an outlet for that energy and used it on pranks. Now they were forced to do physical training.
Hermione, for the most part, was happy that they had a new outlet. She just hoped it was enough for them to become better people. She did not really hate them, no. Just how they treated people.
After dinner was over. Hermione was following Lily to the Head's common room. When they were stopped by James and Sirius.
James had taken a deep breath. "Ms. Evans," he bowed in respect. "I would like to apologize for my behavior towards you." Then his eyes looked towards Severus. "As well as to you, Mr. Snape."
Hermione could see that James Potter, for the most part, was calm. But his eyes showed that he still hated Severus. With him running most of the afternoon, James was calm and not openly hostile towards Severus. It was still an improvement.
Lily sighed next to her. "Thank you, Mr. Potter." Then she grabbed Hermione's hand and headed towards the door again. This time, without being stopped again. Even though she had seen Sirius twitch when she had gotten close. Making her believe that he had second thoughts on the matter.
Once they had made it to the common room for the Head students. Hermione had put up a very strong privacy shield. The kind that no human, animal or ghost could hear. She then did something that she never liked doing, she called on a house elf.
"Fae," she called out to the room. When the elf had popped in. She wore a nice and clean looking uniform that had the Minister of Magic badge on the right-hand side. When Tom was given the house elf, he had given her to Hermione. Stating that he had enough house elves. Forcing Hermione to agree with a few terms of her own.
Even with her shields up, house elves can still hear. Especially when they are being called.
"Hello, Fae, could you get us some lavender tea? I was also hoping for some of your lavender muffins." Hermione did not like the idea of slaves of any kind. But Fae had won her over, by making some lavender tea and muffins. Especially after, Hermione had terrible cramps.
Fae smiled openly. "As yous wish." Before she had popped out of the room. Within moments, Fae came back with tea and muffins and popped away.
After tea was poured and muffins shared. Hermione told Lily everything. From her time in the 1990s. It was enough to show the mixed emotions on Lily's face. Hermione did not remind her that their uncle was the one that had taken her away. Only that, during a war that he had caused, saw his sister in her and wanted her to go back and change history.
Hermione had even told Lily that her son was her best friend. The one worth breaking rules for, just so she could keep him safe. Even though Hermione had told Lily how awful Severus was as a teacher. But he had made up for it, when he had kept Harry alive. Until his very end.
Hermione had then told Lily about their time on the run. How each day was a blessing that they were alive. Before, they had been out in the wild for nearly a year. Where they were caught, only to have Hermione tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange.
"I was under the torture curse for a while, and she wasn't happy with my answers. Before she had brought out a cursed blade and cut into me. Branding me, what I had thought forever, as Mudblood. But when Uncle Tom sent me here. He healed me, after he had heard about Severus Snape being great at potions."
When Hermione had finished, Lily had tackled her into a hug. Giving her no room to move. It became clear that Lily was crying in her arms. It only made Hermione feel awful for telling her. But knew that there was no escaping Lily and her curiosity.
"At first," Lily whimpered softly, as she pulled away from Hermione. "I was jealous of you, Hermione. You had gotten, not just Petunia, but also Uncle Tom to like you. At first, I was angry and jealous. But now I see, you are changing not the world. But the relationships within the world, as well."
Hermione knew that Lily had mixed emotions. She had her twin back. But was it enough for Lily to simply be happy? No, there would be bumps on the road, like any relationship.
Lily had let out a sigh. "I do want to thank you, Hermione. You have gotten Uncle Tom to be a part of our family again. You have stopped bullies, and you have managed to get me to talk to Sev again." She closed her emerald eyes. "But I have to ask, why are you doing all these changes for?"
"Harry," she simply said. "I don't want any child to grow up like he had. He may not ever be born. At least not how he had first had. But I still want the idea of him to be with his family and have happiness."
Lily squeezed her hand. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
It was then that Severus had spoken up. "I could use some help. Hermione had asked for a new potion idea. The kind that could make Horcruxes useless. But also try to not have the object destroyed. Since they do have historical value. As well as making the person whole again, after the Horcruxes become useless again."
Lily gaped at him and then at Hermione. Before a smile graced her lips. "You know, I have been wanting a good challenge. Count me in, Sev. I will help you."
Hermione was only too happy that Lily wouldn't be in her hair most of the year. She then gave Severus the copy of Slytherin's potions book. Then she left the two of them, as they debated on what elements they needed to have for the potion. As she left their common room and made her way to her own rooms. Hermione was walking down the hall and glanced at the painting before her. The one that guarded her rooms.
"Has anyone tried to get in," she asked softly.
Godric nodded his head. "Yes, the Black boy from my house. He had tried to bribe us and allow entry. But he had left a message."
"Am I going to like this message?"
Rowena shook her head. "No, but he did give some effort to it. I will give him that."
Salazar smiled softly, "He managed to send a piece of paper into your room. He was very…tiring. He was respectful and yet annoying."
Hermione had to hide her smile. She knew from experience that Sirius Black, as an adult, was very annoying. If she remembered everything that Mrs. Molly Weasley had said to him. With a big sigh, Hermione had made it into her common room. Only to see the piece of paper dancing around the room.
She rolled her eyes and waved her wand. Just as the paper unfolded, and the voice of Sirius Black flooded the room.
"Roses are red, violets are blue. You are my heart's desire. Let me prove to you, I can be your heart's true champion. My earthly Stella."
Hermione did not know how she felt about his swing on poetry. A big part of her was disturbed and discussed by it. She was not there to find love. At least not yet, not until the war was over. Hermione waved her wand and threw it into the fireplace, watching it burn.
For some odd reason, she enjoyed watching it burn. She was not easily wooed, as one would say. But she did like to see more effort than that, when someone was going to try.
"My name is not from a star, dumbass." Hermione knew that her name came from Shakespeare. But it simply means, earthly messenger. After the Greek God, Herms. "I guess Herms as a God, who is a part of the stars."
But to the Greeks, the Gods were on top of Mount Olympus. But what is near the stop of the mountain, not a palais full of wonder, the stars. She growled as her logical mind had taken over. Sirius Black and his corny attempt on wizard logic. But he was right in a folded paper type of way.
'Sirius, I am not a star nor a goddess to be worshiped.' She had heard of his explodes with girls, while he was in Hogwarts. It was enough to not want to have a relationship with him. She had taken a deep breath, "He needs someone else, who isn't me."
She then went into her bedroom. Pulled off her leather clothes and slipped into bed. It was a long day. She just hoped that the next day would be less tiring.
That night, she had dreamt of Harry. He looked like a mix of Lily and Severus. He was smiling at her.
"Everything will be alright, Aunt Mya." His smile grew even larger. "I will always love you, even if you are my teacher…"
