As Jaune followed Lillie to Iki town, he couldn't help but wonder what exactly he was going to say to the island kahuna of Melemele Island when they would inevitably meet. After all this island is big no but not that big, so he would have to eventually run into the kahuna at some point.
Now he just needed to look for a man who kind of looks like a sumo wrestler!
It shouldn't be that hard... hopefully.
"What's wrong, Jaune?"asked Lillie, noticing that Jaune seem to be deep in thought.
"Oh, nothing Lillie. I'm just wondering what I'm going to do when I run into the island kahuna and ask if I could have a starter Pokemon to call my own."said Jaune, who has never really been good with conversations concerning authority figures.
"Oh, you don't have to worry about that. Kahuna Hala he's a really nice man who gives any trainer he deems worthy of getting a Pokemon as long as they promise to take good care of it. So I don't think you will have any problem getting a starter Pokemon from him."said Lillie with a smile.
"You know the kahuna of Melemele Island?"asked Jaune, surprised that his new acquaintance knows the kahuna.
"Yeah, he and a named called Professor Kukui have been taking care of me over the last three months. Professor Kukui is a man who studies the research of Pokemon moves and he has been letting me stay with him and his wife for the past several months. I met kahuna Hala through Professor Kukui, and I've come to know that he's a very nice man, as well as a skilled Pokemon trainer."said Lillie as she explained everything carefully.
"Wow... but I'm glad I ran into you."said Jaune, as Lillie was his best shot at getting a starter Pokemon.
She could introduce him to the kahuna of Melemele Island!
"Arceus must be on your side for you to have run into me like that."said Lillie, although Jaune had no idea what an Arceus even was?
Was it a powerful Pokemon like Mew? Or perhaps even more powerful! Jaune certainly did not want to find out the answer to that in the wrong way!
"We're here. Jaune, let me introduce you to Iki town."said Lillie as Jaune walked pastor and was amazed by what he saw.
He finally arrived in civilization as he saw several, some modern and some that look like they had been there for many, many years. As the center of the town was a large square arena with tribal looking symbols all around it. Jaune figured this was where the town had Pokemon battles.
"This is Iki Town, built to be close to the Ruins of Conflict, the home of Tapu Koko, the legendary Pokemon that saved you and Nebby earlier."explained Lilie, as Jaune finally learned the name of the Pokemon who saved his life.
"Tapu Koko, huh..."said Jaune, hoping that he would meet this Tapu Koko again one day again thank the legendary Pokemon for saving his life.
"Lillie, there you are."said a young looking man who look like he was barely into his thirties.
He was wearing a lab coat but had no shirt underneath, Jackie athletic shorts with green lining, green running shoes, a wedding ring, sunglasses, and a white baseball cap.
"Professor Kukui."said Lillie, identifying the man is the professor who specializes with Pokemon moves.
"I wondered where you ran off too, and who is this?"asked Professor Kukui, referring to Jaune.
"My name is Jaune Arc, Professor Kukui."said Jaune, introducing himself.
"He saved Nebby right now from seam mean Spearow, Professor Kukui."added Lillie.
"My goodness. Well then I know your a good person then to risk yourself like that for a Pokemon you don't even know."said Professor Kukui with a smile.
"Thanks."said Jaune, not sure if that was a compliment of not.
Soon Jaune was destracted by the sound of a nearby crowd. Jaune looked to see an old man was walking towards them. He was big and large. He had his hair tied in a topknot and had a thick mustache. He was hearing a yellow tropical kimono, a blue shirt, white shote, a white rope around his waist, and blue and white sandals.
'This must be the kahuna.' thought Jaune, as the man certainly fit the description Mew gave him on resembling a sumo wrestler.
"Did I miss something?"asked the man as he approached Professor Kukui.
"Where where you, kahuna Hala? I thought Lillie was with you."said Professor Kukui.
"I was off settleing a right between two rowdy Rockruff. Lillie said she wanted to see the Ruins of Conflict so I let her go off on her own. More importantly I thought I saw Tapu Koko flying about."said Hala, as he was sure he saw the guardian of Melemele Island.
"Your eyes did not deceive you, kahuna Hala. Tapu Koko right now saved Jaune and Nebby when the bridge to the Ruins of Conflict collapsed as Jaune was trying to save Nebby from some mean Spearow."said Lillie, shocking kahuna Hala and Professor Kukui..
"That's amazing. Despite being called our guardian, Tapu Koko is a rather fickle creature. For it to decide to save you was no less than a miracle."said Professor Kukui, as Jaune realized he came super close to being crushed if Tapu Koko didn't decide to save him.
"Young Kukui, I believe this is cause for celebration. It is not every day that Tapu Koko besides to save someone so we must take this chance to celebrate."said Hala, as it was and everyday thing that the guardian of Melemele Island decided to save someone out of the goodness of his heart.
"Um... excuse me, kahuna Hala?"asked Jaune, getting the attention of the kahuna.
"What is it, young man?"asked Hala.
"I was wondering if you could give me a starter Pokemon. A... friend told me that you're willing to give anyone a starter Pokemon as long as you promise to take good care of it."said Jaune, hoping to use this opportunity to get his Pokemon.
"Well it's not every day our guardian decides to save someone out of the blue and you do seem like a responsible young man for helping out Lillie and Nebby. So I see no harm in giving you a Pokemon."said Hala, as Jaune mentally high five to himself for a job well done.
"Thank you! I promise to to take good care of my Pokemon."said Jaune, as he was so glad he was finally going to get a Pokemon
"Come on out, my beloved Pokemon."said Hala as he pulled three PokeBalls and tossed them.
The PokeBalls opened up and release three Pokemon onto the sacred battlefield.
The first one look like a brown barn owl with a bow tie made out of grass.
"This is the grass type Pokemon, Rowlet."
The second Pokemon look like a black cat with red spots here and there and an emotionless face.
"This is the fire type Pokemon, Litten."
And the final Pokemon look like a blue seal with a pink nose.
"And this is the water type Pokemon, Popplio."
"Wow..."said Jaune, as all of the more cute and adorable in their own way.
"Now choose of which of these three will become your starter Pokemon and partner throughout your journey?"asked Hala, as Jaune walked over and examined each Pokemon.
From the information Mew put in his head, Jaune had a basic idea on the fundamentals on Pokemon battling and the rock paper scissors type of battling advantages and disadvantages Pokemon types had.
Rowlet was strong against Water, Rock, and Ground types. But the grass quil Pokemon also had disadvantage against Fire, Bug, Flying, and Ice types
Litten was strong against Grass, Bug, Steel, and Ice types. But it was also weak against Water, Rock, and Ground types.
Popplio was strong against Fire, Rock, and Ground types. But it was weak against Grass and electric types.
All of them had advantages and disadvantages over their fellow Pokemon. And Jaune wasn't sure where which Pokemon to choose as all of them were great in their own way. But he quickly came to a decision as soon as he kept looking at them and one of them he fell in love with as he couldn't resist that emotionless face.
"I choose...Litten."said Jaune, as he found the firecat Pokemon to not only be reliable because of its fire type status, it was simply just too cute to resist.
"Both parties must choose each other before anything is decided."said Hala as Jaune walked towards the fire cat Pokemon.
The fire cat Pokemon looked at him with curiosity as he approached him. Jaune got on one knee and lowered his hand so that Litten could sniff his hand. The fire cat Pokemon seem to like the smell as he soon jumped into Jaune's arms, accepting him as his trainer.
"Well it looks like both trainer and Pokemon have chosen one another."said Professor Kukui, as Jaune held the fire cat Pokemon in his arms.
"Wow, that was awesome."said a young man as he ran onto the battlefield.
He looked alot like a younger Hala as he had a similar top knot for his green hair. He was wearing a simple black T-shirt and tropical looking orange shorts with matching running shoes.
"Hau, there you are."said Hala as he approached his grandson.
"This is Hau, Jaune. He's my beloved grandson."said Hala as he introduced Hau to Jaune.
"Nice to meet you."said Jaune as he shook Hau's hand.
"Nice to meet you."said Hau with a smile as he shook Jaune's hand.
"So I overheard everything and I know you met Tapu Koko! That is awesome! I can't wait to battle you tomorrow at the festival!"said Hau, confusing Jaune.
"Huh?"was all Jaune could say.
"Since you met Tapu Koko. It is customary for the grandchild of the kahuna battle the person who met Tapu Koko tomorrow in honor of our guardian."explained Hau.
"Oh...WHAT?!"said Jaune, as soon as reality hit him.
"I know you're just a new trainer, Jaune. But so is Hau. This will be both yours and his official Pokemon battle debut."explained Hala, as Jaune felt a bit better knowing that Hau was at the same level as him.
"Well then, when is this festival?"asked Jaune, wanting to be emotionally ready.
"Tomorrow!"answered Professor Kukui.
Jaune couldn't believe what he was hearing as that was not a lot of time to prepare!
"I suggest you come up with strategies for the next 24 hours as I can't wait to face you in a Pokemon battle, Jaune."said Hau, super excited to face Jaune in a Pokemon battle.
"Yeah...me too."said Jaune, wondering what the heck he signed himself into.
"Litt Litt."said the fire cat Pokemon, noticing that his trainer seem to be on edge.
The fire cat Pokemon then proceeded to move its head gently around Jaune's legs. Jaune found the feeling of the soft fur very comforting as he klbent down and picked up Litten.
"Thanks buddy. I really needed that."said Jaune, as the fire cat Pokemon just licked his nose.
"Are you ready, Jaune!"said Hau with a smile.
"I'm ready!"said Jaune, as the fire in his eyes has been ignited.
He was now ready to face Hau tomorrow at the festival! Now the only thing he need to do is to come up with a genius strategy!
[After an interesting first day in the Alola Region, Jaune's efforts have now paid off with acquiring his very first starer Pokemon, Litten. Now Jaune and the fire cat Pokemon must prepare themselves for tomorrow for the upcoming festival in honor of Tapu Koko. Will Jaune and Litten be able to defeat Hau and his Pokemon? Only time will tell as the journey continues]

So yeah, the fire cat Pokemon won the vote system by seven votes!
I can actually see why as Jaune and Litten have a lot in common.
1) they both lost someone they care about.
2) Both of them took a while to grow strong!
3) Both Jaune and Litten are similar in personality.
4) The way Jaune moves on from his grief is a lot like Litten's.
