November 26, 1918

My dearest Elizabeth,

I can't tell you how delighted your father and I were to receive your letter. You sound so happy and that is the most important thing that parents wish for their children. You have had so much to overcome in the last few years.

I am grateful that you were able to find a friendship to sustain you through this time. It sounds like Mr. Bouchard has a very similar upbringing and that you have many common interests. We are so proud that you are now a published author which we know was a particular dream of yours and warmed to hear of his part in achieving your dream.

He sounds like a very thoughtful and kind man who will always put you and Jack first. The fact that he has bonded with Jack in the manner you describe tells me that he will be an excellent father for our grandson, and that he will help raise Jack to be the kind of man that Jack Sr. would be proud of.

Julie is of course overjoyed with this news. It was all she could do to keep from shouting it out before we could read your letter. But she did manage to contain herself admirably until the last word of the letter was read aloud. The three of us will be so happy to be with you at Christmas. We are looking forward to meeting your Lucas and we thank him in advance for his hospitality. I hear that the Queen of Hearts offers very nice accommodations. I understand that his parents will also be staying there, and we will be pleased to make their acquaintance as well.

Please let us know if there is anything you would like us to bring from home or that we can purchase in Hamilton for you or Jack. We should be arriving around the 21st, but Julie will call you as the date gets closer to confirm. We can hardly wait my sweet Beth.

With love,

Mother and Father
