Bad Habits
He was pacing again, undecided, being annoying. She didn't understand his hesitation. He had put this all off for far too long.
"In this, you are not like your father," She said, looking at her nails, knowing her son could hear her.
"That is not an insult to my person, mother." He stated, coming into view, walking on clouds as he entered her castle in the sky.
"In this matter, it should be," She said with a snap, her eyes snapping to his "When it was time your father did not hide, he took his place, laid down the law, marked what was his, and thus you are roaming, or more accurately pacing in my presence like a lost pup, you are welcome by the way,'
"I am not lost,"
"Why have you come if not to seek my advice?" That's why he was here, wasn't it? "Or have you come to hide? I will not help you; you are way past your prime, son,"
What was he waiting on? The one? Laughable! "Perhaps you do get that part from your father," She said with a slight sneer under her breath. Now that was an insult to his person, and she could tell by the slight narrowing of his golden eyes.
"You should have grown children by now,"
"I will not make his mistakes,"
Now that was as an insult to her; she stood. "If you wish for a fight, I will oblige you, my son," He looked away, a clear sign that was not what he wished. She often wondered who would win; it would be a pretty fair fight. Now against his father, she would lose, which meant her son still had not reached the peak he wished to achieve. He had not surpassed his father yet. Was that what he was waiting on?
"Do not be stupid Sesshomaru," He could not keep ignoring it,
"Perhaps this is part of your path; you keep ignoring it; perhaps it is the road you should travel,"
His father's words about having someone to protect rang loud in his mind. He had Rin.
"The child does not count," She stated as if she read his mind. He cut his eyes to her. She knew what his father thought when it came to her son; It was the one thing he would go to her about before his death. She wasn't as concerned; she simply thought her son would choose and impregnate one and be on his way. She still thought that.
"Why do you hesitate? It is not like you have to like her," She sat back down,
He wanted to roll his eyes; this was messy. Complicated though; he himself didn't know why. But it was still a deadly thing, and there were not many great Lords left. "These bitches are not the same,"
His mother laughed. "Are you really afraid," She pulled out a fan. "I promise you they are just as conniving as I was,"
"Conniving towards one another is one thing, mother,"
That was true; many would seek him and some for not-so-great reasons.
"It was the same for your father, and he had far more to worry about than you; the strongest will prevail," Just as she did.
Still, he seemed unsure. She eyed him. "I am not playing a game with you, son; why are you here,"
He paced, and she payed more attention to his face. His marking were jagged, more so than usual. He was struggling to fight it. "I will not help you fight it,"
"I can not," He surprised her by saying,
"Oh," She waved her fan in her face, "Finally, I will get grandpups,"
He eyed her as if she would be a great grandmother; he wanted to sneer, but he decided against it.
"Let them fight; choose the strongest as I have stated you do not have like her,"
"Some will die,"
"Oh, and you care?"
Not really; if they wanted to kill each other over him, what did he care? It was barbaric but also very much a part of his line, and it very much played a role in his animalistic nature. The need to mate had to be heavy, hot, and primal. She sighed, though he would not admit it; he wanted a mate he liked, dare she even think, care about? She learned after he saved Rin not to presume to know him. His reason were his own. She snapped her fan closed.
"I do not trust them,"
In this was not wrong, her day brute force and strength won a man, now a days there were other things at play. Magic, outside influences, bargaining, trickery, and the demoness nowadays were so watered down and weak. Hell, she could probably kill them all in one stroke. Dare she even think that Inuyasha Miko could take them all, and she was human!
"Very well, I agree, and I am not a cruel mother, so I will tell you what you need,"
He waited.
"You need a Miko,"
He was not amused with her motherly advice.
"Well, if you had taken care of this decades ago, you would not need the aid of a human girl, now would you,"
He had a sneaky suspicion of just what human girl she was referring to, and if it was correct, it wasn't going to happen.
"I will not seek her to aid me,"
His mother smiled. "She has a name Sesshomaru,"
"This plan of yours is beneath me, mother."
"Well, if you had a bitch beneath you, you would not need her aid now, would you,"
He turned his back to her, ready to leave. It was not going to happen.
"Oh, very well, but this is the very last thing I will do for you,"
"He turned quickly to look at her, but she was bust looking down on earth. "Now, where is that girl? Ah, there she is!"
"Mother"
She turns and whips out her fan again. "Are you going to say her name, or shall I?"
"You are wasting your time," No way in seven hells was he asked, and no way in seven hells would she ever agree.
Fighting it was starting to sound a lot better. He could, of course, it could end up with him mated to some human slum of earth. So he didnt stop his mother, but he wasn't going to help her either. This mating ritual could strengthen your line or kill it off. "Shikon Miko, Kagome!"
With a poof his mother was gone.
He contemplated disappearing himself, but she was wasting her time, and this could prove entertaining. But as entertaining as it may be, leaving the fate of his bloodline in the hands of a Miko, his brother's lover, not lover was comical at best. He wondered for a moment if his mother was joking at his expense.
His father was rolling over with laughter; he just knew it. He should just kill them all and be done with it.
