My Sweet Lucas,
I know I have to sleep so that I will be fresh in the morning of our big day. So, I have to write to you so that I can share my thoughts before I retire for the night; writing always gives me inner peace.
Thank you for thinking of going away for a dinner date this evening. Some away time was in order even though I personally have been relegated to Princess by Rosemary who just says "Relax, enjoy." You on the other hand have been in the center of things over at the Queen of Hearts. But you are in your element when a plan is coming together, so I won't give you too much pity… just my thanks for everything you are doing for our special day. I mean, ... who hires a 'parent coordinator" for a week? Even if they are trying her out for a part-time position as Event Coordinator for your businesses. From what I hear from our parents, she is quite capable and a pleasure to have around. As much as I love both sets of parents it has been a blessing to just enjoy them when my watchdog (Rosie) allows, and not have to think of their entertainment.
Thanks so much for the romantic evening; it was, as always, perfect. And I should scold you on the extravagance of your gift to me, but I won't because it would be silly to pretend that I didn't absolutely love it. It had that delicate touch that I favor, the exquisite gold chains with the pearl sets spaced out along its length. And the diamond cluster at the center with the teardrop pearl at the bottom is simply breathtaking. I have your grandmother's heirloom ring and now you have gifted me with a new Bouchard heirloom that we can pass on, as well as the cufflinks that I have given you. I know they are not as grand but they are heartfelt. Lucas, I know you can't help yourself, and I wouldn't want you to; but every time you fiddle with them tomorrow, think of me. And if you see me reach up and touch the pearl on my necklace you know that I am thinking of you.
I will leave this letter now. I want to be rested and beautiful for you. I will see you at noon at the library… I will be the one in the white lace dress.
Your soon to be wife,
Elizabeth
