Swinging freely through the city always made Peter feel better. Sure Stark Tower was a ways away from home but he needed the time to cool off. The sun was setting the city a glow as the light refracted off the windows below. Peter stopped to enjoy the last moments of light for just a moment before heading into Queens.
"Peter, small crime nearby," KAREN said as he just reached the city limit.
"Where?" Peter stopped atop the nearest building.
"Corner store pharmacy showing a silent alarm tripped just now," KAREN relayed.
"On it," Peter swung down, finding the glass door ripped off its hinges and laying in the street.
"Oh that's different," Peter said, walking into the store carefully.
Walking down the isles and finding nothing Peter whispered, "KAREN any heat signatures?"
"I am not detecting any movement or heat signatures," She answered.
"Great, they got away," Peter said, sighing.
He walked out of the store and swung off only to get knocked out of the air by something flying quickly and cutting his web.
"Ah," Peter let out a surprised yelp before shooting another string of web to catch him before he hit the ground.
Looking around he didn't see what had hit the web. At first he had thought he heard the roar of the engines in Tony's Ironman suit, but Tony definitely wasn't here.
Pete's spider sense went off helping him dodge the next blow that was aimed right at him. Peter landed on the rooftop of a nearby building looking at his mysterious attacker. In front of him was what could only be described as a man in a green crude looking iron man suit standing on a glider.
"Hey man, Halloween isn't for another few months," Spider-man taunted.
"Look who's talking," Replied a scratchy witch-like voice.
Just as Peter was about to speak he got a call from Tony.
"Incoming call from Tony Stark," KAREN announced.
"Not now KAREN I'm a bit busy," Peter told him, rejecting the call.
"Let's see if the Spider can handle the fly," The mysterious attacker challenged, popping out two orange spheres and throwing them at Peter.
Peter jumped and dodged the first of and webbed the other to the wall across from him as he swung around to get a better angle just as the orange spheres exploded catching him off guard.
"Pumpkin bomb for my halloween treats this year," The man cackled.
"You're taking the Halloween bit a smidge too far, don't you think greenie?" Peter swung around and tried to kick the man off his glider, missing as large knives popped out the back of the glider cutting through Peter's suit and slicing his arm.
"Ah," Peter cried as he stuck to the side of the nearest building to assess the damage done.
"Oh be careful there little spider, you may get hurt," The masked man cackled.
"Who even are you?" Peter asked shooting webs trying to knock him off the flying device.
"Let's see. You can call me the Green Goblin," With that he threw another pumpkin bomb at Peter.
This time he didn't have enough time to react as it exploded prematurely blowing Peter up along with part of the wall he was hanging on. Landing hard on the concrete below, Peter didn't have time to move before rubble from the building above landed on top of him.
The Globin flew overhead looking for signs of movement. After seeing none he flew off clackling into the city.
Peter wasn't sure how long he was unconscious for but he knew he had been. Waking up all the feelings of pain came flooding into view. Pushing that aside he started to dig his way out of the rubble.
"KAREN, what's the damage?" Peter asked out of breath, as he got the larger pieces off of him.
"Sensors indicate slight lacerations to multiple areas, possible concussion, dislocated shoulder and sprained ankle," KAREN advised, "Shall I call Mr. Stark?"
"No," Peter replied, pulling his arm back into socket, "I'll be okay. I just need to get home and rest."
Peter looked around, seeing no sign of the Goblin he swung home and right into his bedroom window.
Peter was very sore as he could feel how slow his movements were while taking off his mask. He knew May was working late so he didn't have to worry about her walking in. We went to the bathroom, grabbed out his first aid kit and started to tend to the wound on his arm as it was still bleeding quite a bit. His ankle was throbbing but he knew that it would be better tomorrow if he got some good rest.
"Parker you look like crap," Peter told himself looking in the mirror.
"Today just wasn't my day," Peter spoke aloud, before taking a shower and getting into bed.
Earlier at Stark Tower, Tony paced down the hall wondering if he should go and speak with Peter. Finding the nerve he walked down towards Peter's room.
"Why are you lurking?" Pepper asked, walking up behind him.
"Jesus Pep, make a sound would you," Tony jumped.
"Oh Tony, what did you do?" Pepper assumed.
"Why does everyone assume I did something?" Tony asked aloud.
"Tony," Pepper cautioned.
"Ok fine," Tony gave in, "I think I may have possibly said something that made Peter upset."
"I tried to talk to him but he blew me off and was going to go home," Tony continued.
"And now you're lurking," Pepper added.
"Yes and now I'm lurking," Tony agreed.
"Well, I don't know if he's in there. I saw him swing off earlier," Pepper told him.
"He left?" Tony felt a pang of hurt.
"He did," Pepper confirmed, "Why don't you try calling him?"
"I don't know Pep, he seemed like he didn't want to talk," Tony admitted.
"Tony, that kid looks up to you. Even if he is upset, I'm sure he'd want you to talk to him," She advised.
"He's probably almost to Queens already looking at his watch," Tony noted.
"Just try, that's all you can do right?" Pepper suggested.
"You know you have a way with words Ms. Potts," Tony flirted, '' Are you looking for a job?"
"I have one Mr. Stark," She played along, "A good one."
"Dang," Tony quipped, giving her a kiss.
"Thank you," Tony said after a moment.
"Put it on my tab," Pepper called while walking down the hall.
Pulling out his phone he dialed Peter. Waiting as the phone kept ringing he started to get impatient right when the voicemail came on.
"Great, he is mad," Tony thought, while debating on if he should even leave a voicemail.
He decided against it and hung up. Then Tony decided to go up to his lab to get his mind off his issues.
"I'll call him tomorrow," Tony thought.
