Disclaimer: I do not own Marvel or Spider-Man this is for fun!
Seeing the Oscorp car pull up in front of the building, Happy sat up straighter as if trying to see if it was actually Peter. To Happys relief he saw the young brown haired teen get out of the car swinging his backpack over his shoulder and pausing to look at the building. Happy felt like it had been an eternity before the kid came in alone.
"Pete," Happy greeted, sounding apologetic and excited to see him.
"Hey Happy," Peter sounded very awkward.
It hurt Happy to feel like they weren't close, it was as if they were strangers being forced to talk to one another. Happy wanted to hug the kid but Peter's body language was closed off.
"Kid, I'm sorry," Happy told him, trying to look Peter in the face.
"Tony really didn't mean it, he was just upset to see you with Norman," Happy explained as Peter looked to the ground.
"He sure sounded really upset," Peter sounded small, he was starting to think that this had been a bad idea.
"Um, I don't think I should have come," Peter said, letting his anxiety get the better of him and turning to leave.
"Pete wait, just give him a chance," Happy had come up to him, "I swear he's more upset with himself than he could ever be with you."
"Are you upset that I'm friends with the osbournes?" Peter asked, meeting Happy's eyes.
"I'm not going to lie, kid. I drive Tony around a lot and I have not had a pleasant time dealing with them," Happy started, "But they seem to be good to you and you have history with them. So as long as they treat you fairly I don't see a problem with them, even if they are not my favorite."
Accepting Happy's answer he hugged him.
"Thanks Happy," Peter told him.
"Anytime kid," Happy said, hugging the young man back.
"You know when you left I was pretty afraid you wouldn't come back," Happy told him as the separated.
"You thought I wouldn't come back?" Peter asked.
"I mean I thought Norman had ended up convincing you to work for him," Happy told him.
Peter actually chuckled to Happy's surprise, "Happy just because Mr. Stark and I don't see eye to eye doesn't mean I'm going to just quit. I enjoy working here and seeing everyone. I couldn't imagine not working for Mr. Stark."
Peter has turned to walk to the elevators but paused to say, "Maybe don't tell Mr. Stark? Let him sweat it out a little?"
Happy laughed, "Kid you are going to give him a heart attack."
Peter was just about to make it to the elevator when a huge explosion occurred outside causing both of them to duck as the glass doors shattered. Luckily Peter's spider sense had gone off just in time to get Happy and himself covered behind the security desk.
"Happy, are you okay?" Peter yelled quickly checking Happy for wounds.
"I'm okay kid, you may need to suit up," Happy told him.
No sooner had Happy said it was Peter already swinging outside to see what had caused the explosions.
"Hey greenie, you lost?" Peter taunted seeing the familiar goblin and kicking him off the glider.
"Ah, Spider-man, we meet again" screeched the Goblin, as he stood up arms out in challenge.
Peter accepted as soon as he was at arms length the goblin swung at Peter's face. Peter ducked and went to punch only to have the goblin grab his fist stopping it single handedly.
"Nice try," The goblin taunted as he kicked Peter right back into the building, sending him flying past Happy and into the wall.
"Spider-Man!" Happy yelled in worry. He almost missed the Goblin flying in and picking up Peter by the throat and slamming him back into the behind him.
"Too slow little Spider!" Gobblin cackled flying the two back outside.
Thinking fast Peter whipped a strand out of either hand holding onto the building knocking the goblin back off the glider and freeing himself in the process.
In a smooth motion Peter flipped around kicking his attacker in the chest putting him off balance before getting another punch in. Peter jumped up as his spider sense went off and the glider had come from behind him scooping the Goblin up and back into the air.
The goblin looked up hearing the sound of Tony's suit coming down and returned his look to peter.
"Till next time Spider-Man," Goblin said, throwing a pumpkin bomb at Peter and flying off.
Reactively Peter webbed the bomb swinging it around and tossing it in the air. The bomb had not made it very far before exploding knocking Peter back into the building.
"Peter!" Happy had run up seeing Peter not moving.
"Pete, can you hear me?" Happy asked as Peter started to move his arms to take off his mask while still not getting off the ground.
Peter's ears were ringing, he couldn't make out the words that were being said but he could see how worried Happy looked.
"Happy," Peter said, his voice sounding foreign to his ears as he tried to sit up.
"Peter?" Tony had landed and was running over to the two.
"Don't move yet Pete i'm going to have FRIDAY check you out," Tony explained.
It was no use Peter's ears were still ringing and he could feel liquid dripping down his face. Thinking it was sweat he swiped at it, looking confused at his hand when it came back red.
"Mr. Stark, I can't hear" Peter told him.
"Happy, I think he has a concussion," Tony told him, "Who was that?"
"The Goblin gone?" Peter asked, still unable to hear what was being said.
"The Goblin?" Tony asked, then turned to Happy who just shrugged.
"Mr. Stark, he has unnatural strength," Peter said taking a breath he continued, " It's like when I fight Steve."
Suddenly Peter's hearing came back with a pop.
"I can hear again," Peter said, feeling utterly drained.
"Peter, can you stand?" Tany asked, leaning down over the sitting hero.
"Yeah, I'm okay," Peter insisted, starting to stand up.
"You don't look okay," Tony commented, looking at the bloodied and slightly battered kid in front of him.
Peter was more distracted by finally seeing the damage that had been caused in the short amount of time. The front windows were completely shattered with glass blown all over the lobby while most of the damage had happened right outside where the doors had been. There were concrete chunks scattered about the street and a burn mark where the explosions had reached.
"We need to get you checked out peter," Tony told him, "You are bleeding and you look like you could keel over."
"No, Mr. Stark I'm okay," Peter argued even though he felt light headed, " I need to get home and help make dinner."
Peter had started to wobble, as he tried to take a step as his legs betrayed him.
"Woah there Parker." Tony said, using himself to prop Peter up.
"You lost a lot of blood. We need to get you upstairs and into the med bay alright?" Tony told him, his eyebrows furrowed in concern when Peter just looked at him confused.
"Happy can you call Bruce, he was in my meeting when the 1st bomb went off," Tony said throwing Happy his phone, "Tell him to get here. Fast."
"You got it Tony," Happy said.
Tony picked Peter up in his arms and flew him out and up to the med bay. Peter could tell he was not in his right mind as all the conversation that had just happened felt like a blur. Peter could see unconsciousness edging into his vision.
"Mr. Stark, I think I'm going to pass out," Peter told him as Tony laid him down in the med bay.
"Just hang in there kid i'm going to hook you up to an IV and get you some pain med, and we need to get that gash looked at ," Tony told him.
"I'm sorry Mr. Stark," Peter told him, "I was upset with you for talking bad about the Mr. Osborn."
"It's okay kid, we don't need to talk about it yet. Lets focus on getting you better okay?" Tony said starting to work on cleaning Peter's head wound.
"He's not hydra Mr. Stark," Peter continued, "He didn't even know what it was. He thought it was a water company."
"That's good underoo," Tony was just happy that the kid was still conscious, " Tell me about this Goblin."
"Ow," Peter hissed as Tony applied antiseptic.
"Sorry, the Goblin?" Tony had a prompt again.
" He came out of nowhere yesterday when I was swinging home," Peter started, "Karen had said one of the pharmacies had a silent alarm trip so I went to check it out. When I did, he- The Goblin attacked me and kinda blew up a building on top of me."
"Jesus kid, are you hurt from that?" Tony asked, looking at Peter's face to make sure he wasn't lying to him.
"I was okay," Peter said unconvincingly.
"Peter," Tony warned.
"Last night I had a possible concussion, a sprained ankle, and lacerations," Peter admitted.
"Peter," Tony said, disappointedly rubbing his forehead.
"I'm sorry Mr. Stark but I'm fine now," Tony just looked at him and gestured to the room.
"What happened," Pepper asked, running into the med bay.
"Hi Ms. Potts," Peter greeted, sounding almost drunk as the pain meds hit his system.
"Oh gosh, Peter," Pepper said, coming over to check him out, "What happened?"
"A flying Goblin blew me up," Peter told her.
Pepper raised her eyebrow and looked to Tony in confusion, "A Goblin?"
"I wish I could say it was just the pain meds," Tony replied.
"Mr. Stark, I need to hurry up and go home," Peter said, trying to sit up.
"Woah there, you need to just relax," Tony told him.
"I'll call May," Pepper told Tony leaving the room.
"But we have dinner plans, Harry was going to bring something," Peter told him.
"Harry was coming over?" Tony questioned, "You were going to have dinner with them tonight?"
"Yeah, May was making Italian," Peter told Tony, not noticing the hint of jealousy on Tony's face.
"Mr. Stark I know Mr. Osborn said he sees me as a son, but I see you more as a dad Mr. Stark," Peter said suddenly, "I mean it's been a little more than a year since I've seen him."
Although Peter was hopped up on painkillers, that comment had made Tony feel much better about the whole situation.
"Tony I called May and let her know there was an accident and that peter is fine but is needing to stay for observation," Pepper told him coming back in the room.
"I let Bruce know and he said he will be here in a few moments. Cap is bringing him by jet," Happy told him entering the room, "How are you doing Pete?"
"Great, I told Mr. Stark I can go home," Peter slurred.
"He's not going home. He might need stitches," Tony informed them.
"I'm going to get a clean up team started on the damage downstairs," Happy told Tony before taking his leave.
Turning back to Peter he found the boy lightly snoring.
"This kid is going to kill me," Tony told Pepper.
"I think I see your gray hair coming in," Pepper teased.
"This Goblin is concerning," Tony told her, " Peter said that he has superhuman strength."
" I think you need to get some rest as well," Pepper told him, "You and Peter seemed to have made up."
"It seems like it, I still need to apologize," Tony told her.
"That's true, but let's wait till he is not so drugged up and concussed to do that okay?" Pepper joked.
"Good idea," Tony said as he went to greet Bruce.
