Chapter 6: Meeting Old & New Faces

[Location: New Atlas City | Date: Monday, Aug 25 | Time: 1:16 PM]

In New Atlas, there is a small yet roomy cafe/ice cream parlor called {Sweet Glacier}, which is very popular with civilians and Huntsman alike for its variety of food, drinks, and cold treats. Over the past fifteen years, it's become so popular that there is at least one in almost every large settlement and city. Despite it being in the ritzier part of the city, the prices are very fair and affordable for all who come to buy so anyone no matter who they are can find something they'll enjoy at a good price.

Each of the Sweet Glacier shops has three levels to it. The first level, which is the floor entrance level, is open to regular civilians and young children. The second level is meant for Huntsman and Huntresses only as well as huntsman-in-training, police officers, military personnel, etc. The final top floor is for the owner of the cafe chain as well as certain VIPs of their choosing.

Speaking of the owner, we find them inside their office going over papers before their intercom buzzed to life.

"Excuse me Mrs. Schnee but your guest has arrived."

"Thank you, send him up please," Willow Schnee spoke in a smooth but rich voice full of life and a bit of sultriness.

Much like Lionheart, this Willow is much different than her canon counterpart and honestly, it was definitely for the better. For looks, she looks like how she normally would in canon only with plumper breasts and wider hips due to giving birth three times as well as having a more toned muscular build due to her semi-active Huntress lifestyle. Her outfit was the same as in canon only the top was open to show plenty of her bust as well as a rather ragged scar going across her chest from a Grimm getting a lucky hit on her. She also wore a rather elegant-looking eyepatch over her left eye, why she has it on constantly no one but her teammates and husband knew.

Speaking of which, the relationship between Willow and Jacques is rather healthy and happy despite them being in an arranged marriage upon birth. They had some ups and downs like every couple does but that didn't stop them from getting to know each other and enjoying one another's company as well as having a more positive impact on their children. Thanks to their more healthy relationship, they could both run the SDC properly and provide benefits and other needs to all that work there, be it humans or Faunus.

The sound of knocking on her door made her look up as it opened wide to reveal the person she invited…

"Willy baby! How's my favorite ice cold cyclops doing, hmm?"

...Roman Torchwick, her old teammate from back in the day.

Roman looked the same way he does with his canon-counterpart, down to his looks to his attire and even the same weapon, [Melodic Cudgel], in his right hand. The only difference one could tell was that he was much taller, about a foot taller than his canon height and he seemed to be a bit bulkier in muscle as well as having a scar going across his left cheek from the base of his ear to the corner of his mouth.

"I'm pretty sure I told you many times to stop calling me by that stupid nickname you uncultured brute," Willow droned but she had a knowing smirk on her face as she stood up. "But knowing you, you always ignore it."

"Guilty as charged sweetcheeks," Roman chuckled before going around the desk and giving his old teammate a hug which she returned. "For real though, how ya doing Willow?"

"Pretty good all things considered," The woman said before going to a cabinet and pulling out a few glasses and a bottle of alcohol. "The SDC has had a 9.2% increase in stocks thanks to my darling husband's guidance in business, my little shops are almost in every corner in Remnant, and my three younger children are now on their way to becoming Hunters."

"Good to hear, plan on breaking in either of their beds as you did with Winter's?" Roman said jovially while Willow pours them both drinks. "Oh! Chilly Spice Gin, my favorite."

"That's for me and my husband to know and for you to use your imagination," The one-eyed woman said coyly, taking a sip of her drink. "Speaking of children, how's little Neo doing?"

"She's fine, I left her back home to relax since I've been running her ragged all over the place," Roman answered after taking a drink. "But something tells me you didn't call me here so we can trade stories and baby pictures of our kids."

Willow nodded before taking another drink and speaking. "To put it bluntly, Sachiko and Takumi called. They wanted to tell me that they were in the midst of a pretty deep exploratory mission. They've been…concerned about keeping the progress on the down low."

Roman's eyes widened for a brief second before schooling himself.

"I've got no problem with that but what about Konner? I'm pretty sure the kid is gonna try and tag along, being more stubborn than his mother." Roman asked with a chuckle, one Willow joined in on.

"Not to worry, Kon was accepted into Haven Academy so he'll be occupied for the next four years. Besides, Sachiko would have adamantly told Kon no a dozen times in coming." Willow answered, getting the sharply dressed man to raise a brow in confusion. "Now let me explain what they told me…"

Willow explains what the couple had discovered and Roman couldn't help but frown in thought.

"As nice as it would be to find a realm with no Grimm, I can't help but wonder that there could be something worse out there."

"Don't try to jinx it," Willow answered with a frown. "I've been secretly investing in their operations for a time now. And quite frankly, I don't want all their hard work to go to waste."

This caused Roman to laugh out loud, knowing that she would do it too when given the chance.

"By the way, I forgot to ask, what schools are your kids going to?" Roman asked. "I'm assuming they're not going to Atlas like Winter."

"You'd be right. Weiss is going to Beacon as we did but I think she's mainly going there to avoid her twin...and possibly me due to the harsh training I gave them. Looking back, I may have been too hard on Weiss." Willow sighed. "Speaking of her twin, Bleiss, and Whitley are both going to Haven Academy so they can both branch off on their own and keep an eye on Kon."

"Probably for the best," Roman commented after taking another drink. "If he's anything like his parents, which he is, he's gonna attract trouble whether he likes it or not so it'll be good to have familiar faces to back him."

"If they're on the same team I can rest easy knowing they'll be fine together...but I doubt we'd be that lucky. I can only pray that he gets paired up with trustworthy individuals that won't take advantage of him," The Schnee matriarch sighed before taking another drink only to realize it was empty. "Damn, I hate when that happens, another round Roman?"

"Don't mind if I do Wet Willy." He had to dodge a large ice spike for his troubles.

"What did I say about calling me that damn nickname!?" Willow roared in annoyance.

All she received was the cackling of her former teammate in response.

[Location: Haven Academy - Hedge Maze | Date: Wednesday, Aug 27 | Time: 7:06 AM]

Back to the present time, we find Arslan walking through Haven's hedge maze to reach the center to do some early morning meditation before the start of initiation. The young lioness Faunus knew how Haven's initiation was the toughest for a reason, especially with how the test will change every few years to something new so she wanted to be mentally prepared for what was to come.

After a few moments of walking, Arslan came into the middle of the maze and then noticed a particular sight. The young faunus boy she met yesterday, Konner she believed was his name, was there but he was on his back asleep snoring softly. Surrounding the boy were various woodland animals like rabbits, squirrels, birds, and even a couple of foxes all curled up against or atop the sleeping boy..

"Well this is certainly something you don't see every day," Arslan said quietly with a smile. She then gets a devious idea and pulls out her Scroll to take a quick picture. "Reese is not gonna believe this."

She takes the photo but forgot the flash was on and this makes most of the animals wake up making noise which in turn wakes up Konner.

"Ah geez, how long was I asleep?" The hybrid yawned before noticing the woodland animals atop him. "Oh, hello everyone, how are you?"

The animals give various greetings making the boy giggle as he proceeds to pet and hug each one of them before they let him up. After stretching a bit, Konner then notices Arslan's presence.

"Oh hey! You're that girl I met yesterday, Arslan right?" Konner greets.

"Indeed, you're Konner correct?" Arslan asked, earning a nod in confirmation.

"Yup, but you can call me Kon if you like, everyone back home does," Konner said with a smile.

"Alright then Kon, why were you outside sleeping in the maze?" The older girl asked the obvious, making the hybrid laugh sheepishly.

"I have a weird case of insomnia where I can't go to sleep some nights no matter how hard I try or if I'm using sleeping pills. So I mostly try and stay active most of the night until I finally conk out to sleep," Konner admits bashfully. "It happens incredibly randomly as well so I can't prepare for it so I just gotta power through it when I can."

"Isn't that hazardous for your health?" Arslan asked with concern.

"Surprisingly not, wolves are usually more active at night so my doctor thinks it has to do with that," Konner denied before sitting down Indian style as the animals piled into his lap making him chuckle as he pets them. "But enough about me, what are you doing out here Arslan?"

"I originally came out here to meditate before the start of initiation," The lioness Faunus answers as she joins the young hybrid in sitting down. "As you know Haven's initiations are the toughest for a reason so I wanted to mentally prepare myself for whatever is thrown our way as the tests are changed almost every year to something different from the last."

"Whoa, guess that's why Haven's considered the best Academy in all of Remnant if they manage to keep everyone on their toes for initiation," Konner whistled in amazement. "I wonder what classes will be like compared to initiation."

"We'll probably find out once we become students...speaking of which you should probably head back inside and get breakfast. The initiation will start at 9 AM if I remember correctly and it would be best for you to have food in your belly," Arslan suggested.

"Good point, sorry you guys but it's time for me to go, I promise to play with you all later," Konner said to the animals.

They understood before making noise of farewells before going about their business.

"Does that happen often?" Arslan asked curiously.

"Oh yeah but I'm used to it," Konner shrugged uncaringly. "According to my grandparents my Mom was the same way with animals so it makes sense it would happen to me."

Before she can comment, the thrill of a bird went off before a white blur dive-bombed into Konner knocking the poor boy on his back with a shout of surprise. The blur in question turned out to be Betty Swoops, Konner's avian companion, who then proceeded to peck the crap out of the boy's face in worried anger.

"Owowowowow! I'm sorry girl I should have told you where I was last night, please stop pecking me!" Konner pleaded.

The dove ignored him and proceeded to continue pecking the poor hybrid while Arslan tried and failed to hold in her laughter.

'Something tells me this year is gonna be fun with this kid around,' The lioness thought in amusement.

[Location: Haven Academy - Cafeteria | Date: Wednesday, Aug 27 | Time: 7:30 AM]

After apologizing to his bird and parting ways with Arslan for now, Konner proceeded back to his cot to collect his stuff and get dressed before making his way to Haven's cafeteria to get some food. Upon entering, he noticed the cafeteria itself was rather spacious, having a mixture of both long rectangular tables and big circular tables while hanging from the walls are various painting scrolls of famous Hunters from the past, powerful Grimm species, and even ones of strange creatures that weren't normal animals or Grimm.

"Whoa, they have some cool art of different Cryptids here," Konner commented as he waited in line for food. "Some of these I've never seen before, I hope we get to learn about them in class."

It wasn't long before his turn in line came and Konner was quick to load his tray up with food for both himself and Betty Swoops. Once he thanked the chiefs, he found himself a seat before he noticed a certain sand ranger struggling greatly.

"Uh, Megumi right?" Konner asked in concern. "Do you need a hand? Looks like you're struggling there."

The reason he was concerned was that the older girl was balancing a literal tower of food on her tray, desperately trying her hardest to keep it from toppling over on the floor, herself, or someone else. Spleet was by her feet looking both worried for his owner yet excited if all that food hit the floor it was his by right.

"Oh, hey Kon!" Megumi greeted with a strained smile. "If you wouldn't mind, I really could use some help please."

Balancing his tray on one of his tails, Konner helps guide Megumi over to an empty table to put her tray down on. Once they were sure it wouldn't fall over, they both breathed sighs of relief before sitting down, Megumi giving Spleet a big helping of food for himself.

"Thanks for the help Konner, you're a real lifesaver," Megumi thanks. "Seriously, I don't know what I'd do if you didn't help me."

"It's cool but if I can ask...why did you get all this food?" The hybrid asks gesturing to the edible tower of breakfast food.

This causes Megumi to blush in embarrassment before she answers.

"I'm not sure, for the past couple of days I've been getting cravings for a lot of food and I thought it would pass but it just keeps getting worse and worse for some reason. This has never happened to me, mind you, so I don't know what to do except just, well...eat," Megumi explains while digging into her food.

Konner gained a thoughtful look for a few moments before a lightbulb dinged over his head as he figured something out. Before he could speak, Giovanni and Seraphinite walked up with their trays of food.

"Damn girl, are you pregnant with a dozen brats or something?" The Grimm eater jokes.

This got the desired reaction as Megumi began to choke and cough on her food that went down the wrong pipe, making the pompadour teen cackle at her expense as Konner tried to help the poor girl.

"Oh Oum above, your face was priceless!" Giovanni exclaimed as he sat down.

"Screw...you...asshole," Megumi coughed out with a glare.

"That was a little mean dude," Konner frowned, unknowingly making Megumi squee in her head at how cute his expression looked.

"Relax little dude, I would have helped her if she started choking for real," Giovanni said smoothly.

"Doesn't mean you should make jokes like that when people are eating you jackass," Seraphinite deadpans before turning to Megumi. "But he does bring up a good point, why are you eating so much food?"

While Megumi explained her plight to the other two, Konner continued to eat his food in peace with Betty Swoops enjoying hers as well. They were so into eating they didn't notice someone walk up behind them until the last moment.

"Umm, excuse me...is it alright if I sit with you?" A young feminine voice asked

The young hybrid turned to the voice and was surprised to find it was a Faunus girl around his age. She stood at a solid four feet having rough rusty-orange scaly skin, thin yet spiky toxic green hair that falls above her waist, and has heterochromia with her left eye being blue and her right eye being yellow. Her Faunus traits are two long white horns coming from the side of her head with a smaller one jutting from the middle of her forehead like a unicorn while having a petite build with lean muscle, wide hips, and muscular legs compared to someone in their age group.

Her attire is a sleeveless black mock-neck contrast romper under a white v-neck tee-shirt with the number 33 on the front in bold black, a toxic green flared skater overall skirt with matching colored high-top sneakers, and a brown aviator bomber jacket with her emblem on the back with the number 33 on the right side and the skull of a triceratops on then left. She tops off her look with a white octagonal beret hat atop her head.

"Oh, sure! Pull up a seat and relax," Konner welcomed cheerfully as the girl did just that.

"Thank you, I'm sorry if I'm being a bother but you were the only one that looked my age so…" The girl awkwardly said.

"It's ok I don't mind and if I may ask, what's your name?" The hybrid asks.

"My name is Elanor...Elanor Tangerine," The now name Elanor introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you Elanor and you have a very pretty name," Konner said kindly, earning a small blush from the girl. "My name's Konner Xandrite, but you can call me Kon."

Betty Swoops let out a thrilling sound, reminding the boy she was still here making the hybrid chuckle.

"And of course, this is my best friend, Betty Swoops," Konner introduced his avian companion who chirped in greeting.

"Well it's nice to meet you both," Elanor smiled as she sat down. "I honestly wasn't expecting to find anyone else here around my age taking the exam."

"Me too, but I'm glad that isn't the case here. It would be nice to hang out with someone in my age group," Konner agreed. "I couldn't help but notice you're a Dinosaur Faunus, those are pretty rare."

"You...can tell I'm a Dinosaur Faunus?" Elanor asks in surprise.

"Well yeah, I know Dinosaur Faunuses are rare but it's not like they don't exist. Heck about a fourth of the town guards back in my village are Dinosaur Faunus and I'm pretty good friends with them," Konner explained. "It also helps that I could tell you are a Triceratops Faunus because of your horns and nose along with your irregular skin tone that all Dinosaur Faunus have in common, not to forget your scent matched up with one."

"Wow… .you're pretty insightful," Elanor blinked.

"Eh, I was taught to take in all kinds of details," Konner shrugged.

"With that kind of attention to detail, you could probably make for a good detective."

The sudden voice made the two kids jump a bit before looking across the table to see that it was Seraphinite who spoke to them with Giovanni and Megumi looking at them in amusement. They were so into their conversation they forgot there were three others at their table.

"Oops. Sorry guys I forgot you were here," Konner says sheepishly.

"Oh don't mind us, keep chatting with your little girlfriend." Giovanni teased with a trollish smirk.

Konner gave the older teen a deadpanned look while Elanor however blushed brightly before giving out a quick awkward excuse and leaving the table with her tray.

"Oh see what you did numbnuts? You scared the poor thing off!" Megumi scolded.

"Won't lie I wasn't expecting that reaction," Giovanni mused.

Konner was upset but did his best not to show it, but Betty Swoops saw it and did the only thing she could do...attack Giovanni with the wrath of a thousand pecks.

"OW! Knock it off ya crazy bird!" The Grimm Eater yelled in pain as Betty Swoop's pecks felt like he was being pelted by a mini jackhammer. "Come on! Can't you take a joke!?"

This caused both Konner and Megumi to laugh loudly at his plight while Sera cracked the briefest of smiles.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the cafeteria, Elanor looked at the floor with sad eyes while mentally berating herself for running off like that. She knows what that pompadour guy said was supposed to be a joke but...for some reason being around that Konner kid made her more at ease.

'I should try and make it up to him...maybe I can ask Mr. Janpu for advice once initiation is over,' The girl thought to herself.

With her plan set, Elanor continues to eat her breakfast in peace with no distractions.

[Location: Haven Academy - Locker Room | Date: Wednesday, Aug 27 | Time: 8:15 AM]

After a fulfilling breakfast, the four teens went their separate ways to prepare themselves for the upcoming test. It wasn't long until a voice on the intercom sounded that they had thirty minutes before they were to meet at the designated meeting spot. This brings us back to the locker room where the initiates are found collecting their weapon and other gear while doing last-minute maintenance on equipment before the start of initiation. Konner was seen walking by lockers, trying to locate his own.

"416...418...and 420, there it is," Konner grinned before opening the locker to collect his gear...but stopped when he noticed Seraphinite, Giovanni, and Megumi walking up to him. "Oh hey guys, what's up?"

"Turns out we all have lockers next to one another," Seraphinite deadpanned, opening her locker to Kon's right.

"Kinda funny when you think about it," Giovanni shrugged, opening his own.

"Talk about a weird coincidence," Megumi mused.

"This can be fated when you think about it," Konner says, catching the others' attention. "Someone once told me that if four Hunters meet and talk for just a little bit before teams are formed and they find their lockers directly next to one another, then they are fated to become a team with a bond thicker than blood."

"And you think that's true?" Seraphinite deadpanned, not buying the kid's words at all.

Konner just shrugs, not at all bothered by her tone. "Who knows, but according to them only legendary Hunter Teams are formed this way, ones who would be just as famous or surpass their predecessors in fame and feats."

"Not gonna lie, that sounds pretty cool," Giovanni said, closing his locker. "Also what do you guys think of my holster for my weapons here?"

The holsters appeared to be made out of black leather crossed over his shirtless form in an X-fashion while the center for the buckle was a crimson head of a snarling Wyvern Grimm. Strapped to his back was a pair of broadswords crossed together in an X-fashion with the pommels pointed downwards. He also had a gun, a Desert Eagle to be exact, stowed on it along with a couple of ammo clips.

"Whoa that's pretty cool Gio," Konner whistled. "But doesn't the leather bother you on your bare chest?"

"Honestly no, it's pretty comfortable to me for some reason," Giovanni says with a shrug.

"I think you might have a secret bondage fetish dude," Megumi quips, making the Grimm Eater snort in amusement.

"Whatever girl." He then notices the ranger pull out a metallic briefcase with a fingerprint lock. "Hold up, that's some high-tech shit, what do you have in there?"

"The new weapon that my baby brother created for me," Megumi answered with a fond smile. "Despite being like three years younger than Kon he is a total genius and from what I hear is making a big name for himself from what I recall. Anyway, let's open this bad boy up…"

After a quick scan of her thumb, the briefcase beeps green before unlocking allowing the dune ranger to open the case. Gio and Kon peered over in curiosity...and balked at the contents.

"Ok, what the hell kind of connections do you have?" Giovanni asked. "Because a [Lake Matsu Model] isn't cheap!"

"Especially considering the company that makes them, Nimmunitions, only do custom jobs, and they're crazy expensive," Konner said in disbelief. "Only the rich can get any guns from the…and sometimes the military."

"Impressive. My pistols [Judge & Jury] are made from that company, smooth to the touch." Sera said as Megumi twirled her new weapon.

In the sand dweller's hands was a double barrel over/under shotgun-looking weapon with the barrels being colored black with whitethorn markings around it while the handle is pink in color. There was also a bag which the other assumed held the ammunition of the grenade launcher which Megumi

"That's right bitches, say hello to my new pride and joy, [Nurse Knockout]," Megumi said cheekily. "Sora managed to modify it so it can hold more grenades in each barrel instead of just one in each so I won't have to reload as much."

"How many can each barrel hold?" Sera asks curiously.

"Six each," Megumi answered.

"HOW?!" The three exclaimed, making the desert dweller laugh.

"All he said was it's a mixture of science and magic and that was all he told me," Megumi answered honestly.

"Bitchen, originally wanted to have one of those bad boys as my main weapon but once I found out that they cost both arms and legs, I gave up and stuck with [Madness & Mayhem] here," Giovanni added, gesturing to his swords before he unsheathed them both to show off to the group. "They're hand-me-downs but these are practically indestructible so I can go as hard as I want on my enemies."

They were a pair of three-foot-long black-colored broad swords with serrated edges and smiling golden-horned skulls in between each of the handles and blades. The swords gave off a faint menacing vibe to them as Gio expertly twirled them in his hands before resheathing them.

"I am rather curious as well considering your family would not have the connections to secure such a weapon." Sera bluntly replied.

"My kid brother, Sora, works for the company," Megumi explained while gesturing to the ones in her hands. "These babies are the prototype to some of his personal projects he does on his downtime with upgrades I requested."

"Maybe push his number my way, so I can get an [LMM Carbine Custom Rifle]," Konner remarked drooling.

"Oh baby, I can relate," Giovanni said warmly.

"Control yourselves," Sera said dryly. "You're in pub-"

Her scroll buzzed and she took it up to see a news blurb.

"What's that about?" Megumi asked.

"Eh, some conspiracy theorist screaming about the Grimm Masquerade," Sera said idly, making Konner's hair and fur stand on its ends before quickly composing himself.

The Grimm Masquerade...the very mention of that name made the hybrid's blood boil so much he almost started growling as his tails were threatening to whip around violently. It was only the gentle cheep of Betty Swoops tugging on his dreadlocks that snapped him out of this state, allowing him to take a deep breath and calm down.

"Thank you girl, I needed that," Konner thanked hushedly his avian companion who gave a soft thrill noise in concern. "I'm ok now. You stopped me from going into a dark place."

After scratching her chest feathers, Konner opens his locker to collect his gear, first putting on his wrist gauntlets with his [Elk Runes] as well as [Triune Fang] in their respective places. Once they were secured, he double-checks the small pouches around his belt to make sure they are all filled with Dust Crystals and sure enough, they were.

"One can not have too much Dust," The young teen mutters to himself.

He then reaches into his locker to grab his main weapon of choice, [Omnisynth]. Using an electric guitar for a weapon may have been strange but Konner was able to make it work while gaining help from his weapon nut of a cousin to work out the kinks.

'Gonna need to call Ruby at some point to see how she's doing. She's probably pretty bummed since she's gonna be at home by herself since Yang is going to Beacon,' Konner thinks to himself as he holsters Omnisynth on his back. 'I better do it after initiation though, I've got enough going on as is.'

Konner looks at the large heavy case that's holding his new weapon [Ether Assault] but decided to leave it where it was for now.

"It would be overkill if I used it for initiation," Konner mumbles, closing his locker.

"You say something Kon?" Megumi asked, strapping her long sword, now named [Convergence], on her back.

"Nothing just rambling to myself...anyway, we should probably head to the meeting spot now, it's almost time for initiation to start," Konner says.

This earns voices and nods of agreement from the three older teens as they all begin to make their way out of the locker room…until they are stopped by the sound of arguing people.

"I can't believe you brought that thing here sister! Are you out of your damn mind?" A young male voice scolded.

"Oh shut the fuck up, baby bro! I have needs! No way in hell I'm gonna go more than three hours without getting off, today makes no difference!" A brash girl's voice snarled back.

"...what the hell?" Megumi spoke in disbelief.

"Wait a minute, I know those voices…" Konner mutters, rounding the corner of the lockers to see the arguing pair. "...Whitley, Bleiss, is that you two?"

Indeed, the arguing pair were two of Willow and Jacques Schnee's children, Whitley Schnee and Bleiss Schnee.

Fifteen-year-old Whitley had his wiry build a bit more toned with muscle and he has a lock of hair that was black and hung limply in front of his face. His attire is a pale blue suit with a white dress shirt, black tie with matching colored dress shoes and gloves, and a light gray broad-brimmed black-banded fedora with a matching colored overcoat with his emblem, a dark blue Schneeflake family crest on the back. In his hands was a refined-looking walking stick with a silver fox head on the handle.

Seventeen-year-old Bleiss looks like an inverted carbon copy of her twin sister, Weiss Schnee while having black hair, red eyes, and no scar. Her body is slightly more toned than Weiss's, having faint traces of four-pack abs and she is more well developed in the chest and hip areas.

Bleiss wears a black and white camo military-style jumpsuit that has short sleeves and is unzipped to the waist showing off her toned belly and her matching colored bikini top covering her breasts. On her feet are a pair of knee-high combat boots black in color with matching colored fingerless combat gloves. Around her waist is a stylish silver belt with black pouches containing ammo, Dust, and holsters for her weapons while also having a pair of knives hidden in her boots. To top off her attire she wears a white military hat with a black brim and her emblem in the center and an admiral's coat hanging off her shoulders like a cape with the word BOSS on the left sleeve and BITCH on the right sleeve in bold black cursive lettering and her emblem being dead center on the back. Sheathed on her left side is a serrated rapier that looks much sturdier than the average one while strapped to her back looks to be a collapsed SMG.

When Konner spoke, the pair stopped their argument and turned to him before the brunette gasped happily, the next thing Kon knew he was pulled into a tight hug with his face in the girl's well-developed bust.

"Konney! How's my favorite cute little pupper doing?" Bleiss chirped, nuzzling her cheek into the young hybrid's head.

All she received was a muffled response while Betty Swoops tried to get the girl to let him go so he could breathe which she reluctantly did but still hugged him close.

"Phew! I've been ok Bleiss, I didn't know you and Whitley would be coming to Haven though so this is a pleasant surprise," Konner said with his trademark smile. "Wait, does that mean Weiss is here too?"

"Sadly no little cousin, she's decided to go to Beacon to branch out more on her own," Whitley speaks up, making the hybrid frown a bit.

"Awwww, it would have been so great to see her again," Konner replied sadly as his ears and tails drooped.

This earns a scoff from Bleiss who hugs the cute hybrid closer. "Who needs that prissy princess when you got me? I'll make sure we spend as much time together while we're here Konney~"

"Why do you have to say that so suggestively?" Whitley facepalmed.

"Uh, someone mind telling me what's going on here?" Megumi spoke up, reminding the three that she, Giovanni, and Seraphinite were still there.

"Whoops! Sorry guys, this is Whitley and Bleiss Schnee they're my cousins in all but blood. Guys this is Megumi, Giovonni, and Seraphinite, I met them on my way to Haven at a noodle stand and again in the cafeteria," Konner introduced everyone.

"For further clarification, our mother is Konner's legal Godmother and we've known him since we were all kids. Due to his knowledge of Dust and how his Semblance works with Dust he's practically a Schnee in all but name," Whitley explained with a fond smile.

This makes Megumi give an envious smile at the three cousins, wishing she was half as close with her family as they were but quickly squashing it down. Trying to compare them, or compare anyone with her family would be an insult to the ones she's comparing them to.

"As touching as this little family reunion is, we need to get going, initiation is going to start soon and I'd rather not be late," Seraphinite cuts in getting everyone's attention.

"She's right, we should get going now," Konner says, gently getting out of Bleiss's hug. "Let's get going guys."

As the young hybrid walks ahead with everyone following him, Giovanni decides to ask the Schnee siblings a question.

"By the way, what were you two arguing about earlier?"

"My sister...thought it would be a good idea to bring a vibrator with her for initiation," Whitley tiredly sighed.

The Grimm Eaters' eyes widen behind his sunglasses as he looks at the girl in question who glances back with a naughty smirk before pulling out the adult toy in question and waving it teasingly at him before quickly putting it away so Konner doesn't see it.

"...bro your sister's a total freak."

Whitley could only groan tiredly at the older teen's blunt statement, not seeing any reason to deny what was true.

"I know...I just pray to Oum we're on separate teams."

[Location: Haven Academy - Meeting Spot | Date: Wednesday, Aug 27 | Time: 8:50 AM]

The six teens arrive with minutes to spare at the designated meeting spot which is behind the school, overlooking a cliff of a wide spacious forest. The other initiates were there along with Headmaster Lionheart, Headmistress Fulani, Miwa, Bridgette, and three teachers they caught a glance at the welcome speech, and surprisingly Zed.

"Hey, where's Spleet by the way? I haven't seen him since breakfast," Konner whispers to Megumi when he notices the lack of the lizard-dog at the ranger's feet.

"I left him back inside in a daycare area for pets. He may have his Aura unlocked but he's never fought a Grimm before so I'd rather wait until after initiation to actually train him properly," Megumi answers.

Konner nodded in understanding as the Headmaster then started to speak.

"Good, you're all here now we can get started," Leonardo stated. "Before we do, let me introduce you all to Jase Monroe, Trexler D. Fusion, and Lillian Tiombe, your possible future instructors here at Haven Academy. They will be judges alongside myself, Headmistress Fulani, and Dr. Nakamura."

As the trio of professors gave their greetings the students managed to get better looks at them.

Jase is an older man of 45 with a heavy, muscular build standing at 5ft 11in with dark, graying hair styled into a long ponytail reaching the middle of his back and a messy beard. He has many cuts and scars, which can be seen on his arms and a few on his face. He wears a green checkered collared shirt that is rolled up to his elbows, a black jacket that hides mesh armor, blue jeans, and brown heavy-duty steel-toed hiking boots. He also carries an old, worn canvas backpack that holds a gas mask and a flashlight attached to the strap.

Trexler seems to be the youngest of the three being 17. He has a lanky yet hunky appearance standing at 5ft 8in with slicked back green hair and blue eyes under his thick black-rimmed glasses. His attire is a black lab coat with white buttons on it with a gray high-tech utility belt around his waist over his coat, white slack pants, black rubber zipper boots, and green rubber gloves.

Finally, Lillian is a baby-faced 27-year-old young woman standing at 6ft 9in with dark chocolate skin, teal blue eyes, and pale pink hair styled in big puffy dreadlocks reaching down to her calves while being tied in a ponytail by a butter yellow bandanna. Her body is very toned with large visible muscles while having a smooth but firm six-pack and wider hips and a bust about twice the size of her head. Her attire is a large fluffy lime green turtleneck sweater that shows off her stomach with her emblem, a teal-colored doe with pink eyes resting in a patch of yellow flowers, on the front, stretchy blue jean pants, yellow high-top sneakers, and matching colored bucket hat.

"Now let's get on to the good stuff, this year's initiation is going to be...Wilderness Survival and Combat," Fulani speaks, making the students murmur amongst themselves before she continues. "How this works is simple, you will be spending the next three days roughing it in the {Hard-Knock Forest} behind us while battling the various Grimm that have made their home there. I warn you now that the Grimm in there are not only simple run-of-the-mill grunts as we have some more exotic species in there as well, not to forget the Alphas and Elders running around as well."

"Let it be known that this test isn't just about you combating Grimm and killing them, it's how you will use the environment and the resources in it to survive the next three days," Jase stated gruffly while glaring at the Hunter hopefuls. "I'm a very harsh critique, so you better show me that you brats have what it takes to survive in the wilds, the Hunters don't need pampered spoiled brats too used to the comforts of the Kingdoms dragging others down."

This made more than a few initiates shuffle nervously at the man's words but Konner simply bounced on his heels in excitement.

"On that topic, it will be important for you all to know what Grimm you should be able to kill at your current level, ones you should not engage unless given no choice, and ones you should avoid altogether," Lillian softly spoke. "As you know there are some species of Grimm that are either neutral or surprisingly friendly when not provoked so you need to identify these Grimm as well as hostile ones and know how to deal with them accordingly."

This made many initiates nod in understanding, but a handful scoffed at the notion of a 'friendly' Grimm. To them, a Grimm was nothing but a monster that needed to be put down, end of discussion.

'Some of these kids are in for a rude awakening,' Lillian thought ruefully while stepping back as Trexler steps up to speak.

"Now then we'll be providing you all with a device that will allow us to keep track of your scores easier," The young teacher spoke while producing an onyx black band with a small green light at the center. "These bands will not only allow us to keep track of your Aura Levels and overall health but will allow you to scan and obtain summarized information on almost anything be it flora, fauna, and even Grimm. You are to keep these bands on at ALL times, if you take them off for any reason and they are off for more than ten minutes you will be disqualified, no exceptions."

The teachers then took the time to pass out bands to all the initiates who then immediately strapped them to their wrists which beeps a few times before going silent.

"That noise means that your wristband has been I.D locked to be used by you and you alone so if someone were to steal your band from you they couldn't use them to get extra points for themselves," Trexler explains.

"...I'm sorry what?" Megumi spoke up in shock. "What do you mean if someone were to steal our bands?"

"It's exactly as he said," Zed spoke up in a bored drawl. "What, you thought you would just fight Grimm? Nah, that's too easy. You'll also fight each other in duels to have the chance to steal points from the loser or get them out of the competition, though you would have a choice whether to fight or not but still an effective way to weed out the posers from the real deal."

This made some cocky initiates chuckle at the fact of clearing out the weak and unworthy while others started to get nervous at the thought. Some like Giovanni however grin at the challenge to fight other initiates besides run-of-the-mill Grimm.

"Oh man this is gonna be fun," The Grimm Eater chuckled ominously, making others back away from him in fear.

The chatter stops as Leonardo clears his throat to gather everyone's attention.

"Each duel will last till one of the combatants is unable to fight or yields, if you attempt to mortally harm or kill your opponent the bands will administer a shock strong enough to paralyze a Goliath," Leonardo stated firmly, making everyone suck in a breath at the thought. "The offenders will immediately be disqualified and the victims will receive medical attention to continue if they so wish depending on their injuries and will also receive all the offender's points as compensation. I warn you all now if I find any of you trying to cripple or kill your fellow initiate just to have a greater chance at being in my school...I will make sure you regret it for the rest of your short lives. Do I make myself clear?"

He didn't yell, but the initiates could practically feel the promise...no, the statement of what their headmaster would do to them if any of them broke the rules.

"Sir yes sir!" Everyone shouted, making the older Faunus give a kind smile.

"Good to see my point got across," Leonardo said jovially.

"If you're done scaring the crap out of the kids Leonardo I think it's time to start the initiation," Bridgette spoke up.

"Indeed you are right dear Doctor...Trexler if you would?" Leonardo says to the young professor.

With a quick salute, Trexler pulls out his scroll and punches a few keys before half a dozen swirling green portals appear at the edge of the cliffs making the initiates gasp in awe.

"Oh, that is badass!" Bleiss said with a grin.

"Awesome!" Konner cheered with Betty Swoops cooing in agreement.

"Each portal will send each of you to a random location within the forest," Trexler explained. "Don't worry the portals are perfectly safe to go through, they've been perfect after years of testing."

"As stated before you have three days and you are to meet back here at 3 PM sharp on Friday," Leonardo stated. "Now then...let the initiation BEGIN!"

With that said the more bold initiates charged through the portals while others held back, still a bit wary but eventually charged through one of the portals as well. After a quick set of goodbyes, Whitley and Bleiss followed suit, leaving only Konner, Megumi, Giovanni, and Seraphinite as the last ones.

"Well, this is it, time for us to earn our place in Haven," Megumi stated, before dashing ahead. "I'll see you guys on the other side!"

After jumping through a portal, Giovanni let out a cackle before rushing towards a portal himself with Seraphinite surprisingly hot on his heels. Once they jumped through, Konner was the only one left.

"This is it...you ready for another adventure Betty Swoops?" The hybrid asks his avian companion.

The Dove lets out a happy thrill of confirmation, making Konner grin as his tails start to spin rapidly, the wind picking up dust from the power.

"Ok then here...we...GO!"

Like a rocket, Konner takes off towards one of the portals head-on...only for a new portal, this one looking more like a small galaxy, opening up in front of him, making the fourteen-year-old and the staff blink in shock.

"Wait, wha-!?" Konner exclaimed in shock while trying to stop

Unfortunately, it was too late for him to hit the brakes as he shot through it before it closed abruptly.

"Uh….Trexler...what the fuck was that?" Jose asked bluntly.

"I-I don't know! But whatever it was, that wasn't one of my portals!" Trexler shouted in shock.

"He didn't show up in the forest!" Miwa stuttered out as she was flicking through the camera feeds of the forest. "I can't find him or his dove!"

"Fuckin' hell, where did they go?!" Fulani freaked.

As the other teachers were freaking out, Zed looked at the Headmaster to see him looking down at the forest without worry or concern. In fact, he looked a bit...happy? This immediately makes the former bandit suspicious as he narrows his eyes before walking up next to him.

"You know what happened to those two don't ya, boss?" Zed asked in a hushed tone.

All he received was a knowing smirk from the Headmaster before as he looked back over the cliff, making Zed sigh tiredly.

'What the hell did I get myself into this time?'

TO BE CONTINUED...
