Twilight Falls

Oh Elune, please hear my voice.

Even as I search for you in moonless sky.

Many has been the night where to you I've whispered,

Even if my eyes were otherwise taken by stars.

Give me strength, even if it be one final time,

Be here I stand, or if here, I should fall.

Upon the slopes of Hyjal fair,

Reaching ever upward to your majesty.

The fire reaches mountain's base,

And we are in the winter of hope.

Dew drops accumulate upon the flowers,

As do, below our eyes, silver tears.

Sad song, of metal sharpened upon stone,

Still discordant, as arrows fletched and holstered with bow.

Empty are our bellies, even if fire be in our throats,

War cry, death cry, in triumph or pain, we wait to scream.

Sisters in the valley below, ready to harass demon and dead,

While others, like myself, as clouds to release arrows.

Companions long, companions all,

Old friends have rejoined me, named fear and regret.

No path left to tread, no fortress left for us,

This eve, our last stand, at the ending of the world.

Here I stand, and if here I fall,

Oh Elune, take me unto your breast.

Even fire be preferable this twilight,

To be beast of bone, of rotting flesh.

Undeath's thrall, servant to decay,

Under dark banners, tainting ground with every footstep.

Oh Mother moon, remember us,

If before you rise we fall.

Shine on, if any remain,

For they must see their mother reflected in their eyes.

Alas, my time is over.

For the enemy has arrived at mountain's foot.

Knock bows, ready spears, and hold firm, sisters.

For twilight falls, and the enemy awaits.
