Well… I guess I'm prepared to send out a part 2! Thank you so much to all of you so far who have commented, favorited, and all that good on this fanfic! I had no idea if I put this out for a pairing that is not quite canon if anyone would even want to read it or like it at all so thank you all so much for the support thus far! Although I did feel unfair making you all base your decisions on whether you want me to continue you this from just Jo's perspective, so… I decided to give you Brick's perspective as well and let you all tell me whether you want this story to continue. By the way, I had SUCH a fun time drumming up Brick's perspective today! He and Jo have such contrasting personalities that it made it kind of fun for me to bounce from her more harsh, 'no nonsense' persona to Brick's genuine and loyal nature. What can I say? I have a soft spot for this Cadet. Haha. :) Also, just saying, Brick should have been in All Stars instead of Sam… THERE I SAID IT! Anyway, my opinions aside, this chapter picks up slightly before the end of the previous to give more perspective from Brick as he's having lunch in the dining hall of his military academy. Hope you all enjoy it! :D

(Brick's POV)

I was sitting by myself in the canteen with my mid-day rations and tried to think of what to write to my mom.

I've already told her what I was doing here for my training so… maybe I should ask how she's doing? I smiled as I started writing:

Dear mom,

I know I wrote you another letter the other day, but I forgot to ask how you were doing at home? Everything okay still? How are things at the shop? I can't wait to come home again on my break and give you a hand with reorganizing the supply room. But more importantly…

"McArthur, ten-hut!"

I stood up immediately on instinct as I saluted and replied immediately, "Sir, yes s-" But, I felt myself get tripped as I fell over and heard the next table over from me start laughing.

I would have felt more concerned about that if I didn't realize I just fell over in front of Sergeant Milner (my reporting drill sergeant).

He was looking down at me and scrunched his eyes before shaking his head, making my stomach converge in embarrassment, before he sighed and started, "Just get up, cadet."

Immediately I got to my feet and made sure I got to my feet in a wide stance to make sure I didn't fall over again as I saluted again and started, "Yes, sorry sir!"

He just gave me a steady look as he said, "At ease. I just came back here to get you. Someone's looking for you by the front gate. Now get to it."

My eyes went wide as Sergeant Milner walked off.

Huh? Someone's looking for me?

I wasn't expecting a visit from anyone? My grandpa or my mom didn't say they were visiting any time soon. They live a 6 hour drive away so they usually always tell me when they're coming to visit.

So… who could it be?

I heard a short laugh before hearing a familiar jab, "Hey, maybe it's your order of rubber sheets, Pansy Pee-stain?"

I looked next to me at 'the source' and saw Wade Branson and the rest of the cadets at his table laughing, feeling my face heat up before narrowing my eyes at them.

Seriously, I pee my pants on the first and last day of school when we were 9 and I never lived it down… not even on TV either was that intel sacred.

Knew I shouldn't have written that on the questionnaire when I auditioned to be on Total Drama.

Look, I pee when I get scared! Lots of people do!

And unfortunately Wade definitely knew that since he was the one who scared me twice in that same year to make me pee myself twice in the 'same' year.

I decided to just ignore them as I cleaned off my finished cafeteria tray and folded my letter to my mom in my pocket before marching off toward the front gate of my academy.

Wade and everyone else was the last thing on my mind now.

Who could possibly be here to see me?

Finally I took the side door next to the gate outside the old Ivy covered brick walls of the academy. It wasn't easy living up to the reputation here… or the reputation of my dad, honestly.

But, I wanted to be a soldier since I was little. It's in my blood and my bones to serve my country in the most noble way I can think of. And I'll get admitted into the Royal Canadian Military College if it's the last thing I do... and maybe finally understand fashion by the time I get there too.

I got outside the wall and stopped dead in my tracks at who I saw.

The tracksuit, the short dark blonde hair, the frustrated look almost constantly on her face (if not looking more so right now honestly).

She looked like she was almost going to walk away as I thought outloud, "Jo?"

I watched her whole body lock up and freeze as she slowly looked over at me.

What's Jo doing here?

I haven't seen her since the finale last summer. And… how did she end up here? Or why?

We stood there just looking at each other for a few seconds as I waited for her to say something, which is a little weird in my opinion since usually Jo isn't afraid to say anything.

At least she never had a problem saying anything she wanted to me or anyone else back on the Island anyway. Since I can still remember her saying 'Morning G.I. Joke' or 'Ready for breakfast, Dampy Pants' nearly everyday to me as we walked into the dining hall.

Although she did refer to me by name sometimes too, which is more than I can say about some of my 'fellow cadets' here.

I kept waiting for her to say something as she continued to look anywhere but me and crossed her arms, looking frustrated as she pursed her lips and maybe even... wait, nervous?

My head continued to tilt in confusion as we continued to just stand in awkward silence.

I mean… I know things between Jo and I have always been a bit, well… complicated. Sure, she can be a bit harsh, WAY too over-competitive, and abrasive a lot of the time but I still consider a friend regardless, ya know?

Eventually I was pulled out of my head as she walked over, still barely looking at me as she put one of her hands inside the pocket of her hoodie.

But, I decided to try and break up the tension as I smiled and started, trying to come up with something to say, "Uh, h-hey Jo! I know it's been a little while but nice to…"

She immediately cut me short as she pulled something out of her pocket and held it out to me as she started, "Look, I know this thing is 2 weeks away, but I just wanted to ask you."

I looked down to see what she was holding out to me (as well as figure out what she was even talking about) until my eyes went wide.

It was a green piece of paper that looked like a flier as I read through it:

Annual George-Etienne Cartier High School Prom, Saturday May 3rd from 5 PM-11PM

Attached to the paper with a clip was a ticket to this event and my eyes went wide in realization as Jo kept going, "Look… I really need a date and I want you to go with me, or whatever?"

Despite her saying that in a very, well Jo-type fashion… it's like I couldn't believe what was going on.

Jo's asking me to go with her to her school's Prom?

I mean… wow.

I've never been asked out to go to a dance before.

All I've ever been to is my military academy's beginning military formal balls and winter military formal dances we have here. I mean, sure I never went with a date since every girl I ever asked always told me either 'no' or 'they were going with someone else'.

And yeah, it kinda hurt when I saw them still show up and I saw they either were with someone else or they lied.

But hey! Going stag wasn't so bad! And usually I at least got a chance to dance a little bit.

Which was either with my cousin Sarah who attends the academy with me when she wasn't with her boyfriend or with one of my female teachers since none of the other girls going stag wanted to dance with me, but at least I got the chance to dance with someone!

All I kept doing was looking at the ticket in the flier as Jo elaborated, straight and to the point, "So, if you're not doing anything, wanna go with me?"

It's almost like I was trying to understand the whole situation right now.

From the looks of the address of her school, it's almost an hour away from my military academy here. So… did she really drive all the way up here to ask me 'ME' to go with her?

She skipped over every other guy at her school and wanted me to go with her to her Prom?

I don't really know what this means, but… maybe I was right about her having more of a softer side than everyone gives her credit for?

And maybe it's just me, but… I just feel so honored and just 'fantastic' that she even thought of me to come with her as her date.

Eventually I looked up at her and smiled more than I had in a while as I stood at attention and saluted as I responded, "Ma'am, you got yourself a date!"

For the first time she actually looked up at me wide eyed and responded, almost like she didn't believe me, "Wait… really?"

I had no idea why she was confused as I assured, "For sure! I've never been to a Prom at a civilian high school before so I'm looking forward to it! And… if you'd want, you could tell me your address and I can pick you up. I just need to clear it with my commanding officers, but I'm sure they'll let me go with it being a Saturday and all. How 'bout it?"

Her eyes went wide before I saw her immediately even out, her facial expression almost unreadable, as she responded, "Well… great! It's 212 Saunders Lane. Come by at 16 hundred hours sharp, and don't be late."

I smiled a little at her and then I was confused when I saw her just immediately strut off and go toward this pick up truck in the visitor's park lot near the gate as I caught up to her and called out, "Hey, Jo! Wait up!"

She stopped and turned around as she quirked up an eyebrow before asking in slightly irritated confusion, "Uh, yeah?"

I stopped, now feeling confused again over the situation, "Um… did you want to stay for a bit? It looks like you drove an hour to get here? Did you want to stay and let me give you a tour? I'm sure my commanding officer will let you come in once we give you a visitor pass."

I kept smiling, but then my smile faltered a little as she just gave me this indifferent look and shrugged before saying, sounding like her usual 'blunt-self', "Sorry, I need to drive back. I have an essay to finish and my evening workout before school starts again tomorrow. Just be at my house in 2 weeks, and be on time."

Even though I was a bit disappointed she didn't want to stay and wondered why she was being kind of 'standoffish' with me (I'd even accept her teasing me like she used to with the nicknames at this point), but… then again, maybe it's just 'Jo being Jo'?

So I just took a step back and nodded as I started, "Read you loud and clear, ma'am. Not a problem! I'll see you then. I promise I won't be late and I'll come prepared."

She gave me another wide eyed look, almost still looking 'surprised', until I saw her shake her head as she gave me a nod before just continuing to walk toward the truck.

I felt kind of 'off' if I just went back in as I offered, remembering what my grandpa taught me, "Great! Here, I'll walk with you to your car."

She gave me an 'off' look as she said with another shrug, "Uh, sure? If you want?"

I kept on trying to figure out what was going on with her, but… maybe she just wasn't used to this kind of thing either?

But, that's fine! I'm determined to take up her invitation as her date to her school's Prom! And who knows? Maybe this is her trying to tell me something?

Something I was secretly almost kind of hoping would happen even back on the show.

But, guess I'll find out in 2 weeks, right?

Even if this is just her way of putting us on better terms as friends… or maybe something more if I'm being honest with myself?

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what this could mean with Jo.

So… it looks like Brick is seeing 'something more' than Jo seems to at the current moment. Despite the hinted mutual chemistry they had in the show, it just seemed like Brick was carrying a bit more of a 'crush' aspect when it comes to he and Jo. After all, and to me what makes Brick so freaking endearing, is how he was always trying to impress Jo at MANY different points in the show or trying to put on a 'tough guy' act with her to show her how strong he is. Him trying to impress her by showing her he could dislocate his hip on command but failed epically and ended up dislocating his wrist instead is still one of the most adorably hilarious things I have ever seen in the show. Lol. XD But, little does he know that he wasn't 'choice number 1' for Jo and Jo really only sought him out in this situation since she was desperately trying not to lose a bet more than anything else (her competitive 'I can't lose' side getting in the way) as she unfortunately just gave Brick 'false hope' that this was perhaps her way of extending an 'olive branch' to him and for them to start over and maybe 'start something new' as Brick hopes is the case. But, now that he's said yes, what will happen next? Let me know what you thought and if you'd like me to continue the story? As always, thank you so much for reading and constructive feedback is always VERY much appreciated!

Stay classy and safe everyone!
