Author's Note: Post Ep 8, seeing how much of a siscon Yuri was, I thought to myself, "Bet that he asked to marry Yor as a kid." Lo and behold, episode 9 happened :)

Fic takes place sometime after ep. 8/9.

To Make Amends

A boy with short hair, strands unkempt and sticking in all directions, wiped his hand on his button-down. Curling into a fist, he extended his arm forwards, pinky finger uncurling.

"Sis, promise that you'll marry me someday! Pinky swear!"

He had been sitting in front of the phone for the past 5 minutes, working out the words.

"I'm terribly sorry for my abhorrent behavior...no that doesn't sound right."

"Sis, apologies for my horrible conduct...no too casual."

Hmmmm... why is this so difficult?

"Perhaps," he said to himself, "Perhaps it's better to play it by ear. That would be sincere enough."

He picked up the phone, and dialed her number.

About a minute elapsed as he waited for the woman to finish connecting the call, until he heard the click of someone picking up.

"Good Evening, Forger Residence."

"Hi, Sis. Do you have a minute to talk?"

"Oh, Yuri. I wasn't expecting you to call so soon. Yes, I'm free to talk. Is something the matter?"

He heard a sharp inhale as she continued, "are you in trouble? With work? With the law?"

"Wait, wait-It's nothing like that."

He paused, pondering his next words.

"I do think it's better if we talk face to face. Will you meet with me tonight?"

HIs hearing picked up noises in the background, a firm clank clank clank of metal against metal, as she responded.

"I can meet you at the park by my apartment after dinner."

"Great. I'll be waiting at the entrance in about 2 hours."

"Alright - I'll see you then."

-2 HOURS LATER-

The train was slightly delayed, causing Yuri to briefly sprint from the station to the park, in order to be there exactly as he said when he would be there. Slowing down to a brisk pace when he noticed nobody was at the entrance, he stopped in front of the gate and waited.

"Yuri!"

Turning his head towards the voice, he suddenly saw his sister walking near. Strange, he just checked that corner and he was sure there was nobody.

"Shall we go in?"

Palm upward, he pointed his arm at the direction of the gate.

"Let's go."

Strolling along the path, the pair were quiet, mainly observing and taking in their surroundings. The sun had set for some time, prompting the lights from the lampposts scattered across the park to turn on. Small crowds of people walked in the opposite direction, the chatter from conversations becoming sparse as they made their way towards the inner area.

Seeing a bench slightly beyond the glow from the lamppost, Yuri suggested, "Sis, would you like to rest over there?"

"That sounds good."

Yor picked up her stride towards the bench, and sat down. Patting her hand beside her, she invited Yuri to do the same. As he sat down, she turned her head and asked:

"So what did you want to talk about?"

Taking a moment to inhale and exhale, he made direct eye contact with Yor- then bowed his head.

"I'm sorry for the other night. I was drunk, and I don't quite remember everything but I feel terrible leaving like I did."

"It's ok, Yuri-"

"No it's not-"

"Yuri."

Looking up to warm eyes, Yor continued, "It's alright. I should've told you about Loid and I earlier. That was my mistake."

"I-", Yuri tapered off, digesting Yor's response.

Smoothing out the hem of her dress, she said, "..That wasn't what you truly wanted to talk about, was it, Yuri?'

His eyes widened as he broke eye contact, but he held back his words as he maintained his composure.

"What's on your mind?"

Sighing, he looked back at Yor, and muttered, "...I don't accept him and you together."

"Hmm, I didn't catch that, Yuri?"

"Sis, I do not trust that, that L-L-Loidy! I don't accept him as my brother-in-law!"

Yor blinked a few times as she processed his reaction.

"Why not? We're married; he is my husband now."

Married...

"...you said yes to me first." He pouted.

"Hmm? Yes to what?"

"No, it's- it's silly."

"Clearly not, if you're worked up about Loid and me."

Sigh, "...remember when I made you pinky promise that you'd marry me? You said yes...it's stupid, OK?"

Rubbing his temples, his face slowly flushed at the memory of a very earnest Yuri seriously declaring marriage to his elder sister.

"I know it's childish- but the point is I don't accept Loidy as family!"

Frustration building, his voice rose, hands slowly clenched into fists. The stillness of the park after dark helped to carry his voice louder.

"How can I trust a stranger to take care of my sister?!"

"Yu-ri."

Yuri's mouth opened as if to continue, but quickly stopped. His lips pursed in dread and anticipation from the tone of Yor's voice. He kept still in position as he waited.

Her hand gently folded around one fist and shook it, as she said, "look at me."

Yuri tilted his head, eyes meeting hers.

Her eyes were still warm.

"I'm not going anywhere."

She coaxed the fist to uncurl, rubbing her thumb against the back of his hand.

"I'm not replacing you."

Her hand held against his palm, with the lightest strength in her grip.

"And, we're brother and sister. Nobody can take that away."

She patted his head with her other hand.

"Not even Loid," she finished.

"I pinky swear!"

A larger finger grasped the little boy's pinky in response, sealing the promise.
