Meaning: Royalty, nobility

It doesn't come as a surprise to anyone that Dick Grayson is rich. After all, his father's the CEO of WayneTech. And he's never been exorbitant with his money, always the responsible child, but she knows how he can be with presents. He once stole Bruce's credit card just so he could surprise him with a trip to Universal Studios for Father's Day, and she remembers he booked a trip to Hawaii for the two of them last Valentine's Day all because she had casually mentioned to him in conversation that she'd always wanted to visit.

Which is why she's a little surprised when he approaches her during her birthday party holding a rather small box in his hands. She's not disappointed - in fact, she's immensely grateful that he got her anything at all - but she was half-expecting him to surprise her with a giant car or a trip to Paris. Though she's also slightly relieved. A smaller present will probably make it easier for her to pay him back.

She's talking to Artemis when she feels him tap her on the shoulder. Before she can even say hi, he grabs her hand and leads her just around the corner, vying for some privacy. When they're alone, he hands her the present and leans in to peck her on the lips.

"Happy birthday, Zee. This is for you."

She blushes. "You know you didn't have to get me anything, right?" He discards the idea like it was a used tissue.

"You're joking, right? I'm pretty sure presents on your birthday is, like, rule 5 or something in the 'How to be Chalant' guidebook." They share a soft giggle together, and he takes quick note of just how beautiful her lips look when she's smiling with that shade of lipstick on. "Besides, I saw this the other day when I went shopping with Barbara and I thought of you. Open it."

He tucks his hands inside his jean pockets as she slowly begins to unwrap the present, and he can't stop the massively triumphant smirk that spreads across his face when her eyes grow to the size of golf balls upon opening the package.

She lifts out of the box a beautiful golden chain with a heart-shaped sapphire adorning it, and he sees her breathing grow hasty and ragged the more she stares into the vibrant blues of the jewel. When he realizes she's too stunned to do anything with it, he gently takes the necklace from her and slides it around her neck with utmost care. She fondles the gem in the middle of it with her slim fingers, eyes still wide and mouth hanging open like a trout as she starts to consider how many thousands of dollars he must have flushed down the drain for this one present.

He breathes out a light chuckle at her silence, panicking on the inside with the worry that he may have overstepped. Zatanna finally tears her gaze from the mesmerizing jewel back up to his beautiful eyes and wonders which is more hypnotic. "Why?"

Dick shrugs casually, as if he hadn't just handed her a thousand-dollar gift, and it takes all his confidence to play it off coolly. "Every princess needs her necklace."

He notices she's utterly speechless as she stares into his soul, and he inwardly cringes at how forward he was. "I-if it's too much I can-"

She shuts him up by grabbing his collar and tugging him down into a hot-blooded kiss, and he can practically hear his heart bounce up before kissing back.

She pulls away from him when she remembers she needs to breathe, biting her lower lip and feeling a rising blush roar at both their cheeks. "It's perfect. You're perfect."

He sends her a sweet smile before picking her up bridal-style, and she giggles like a kid as he carries her back to where all their friends are waiting.

"Alright, princess. Let's go cut your cake."

"Of course, your Majesty." He kisses her nose and shakes her head.

"Tonight the only royalty here is you."
