Prompt: Clothing

"So ya only want me here so ya can kill Kudo?" Heiji asked spitefully. He was sitting in the same room as Vodka, having been dragged out of his own a few minutes ago as the other kidnappers rushed around frantically. It was amusing, they almost seemed like chickens with their heads cut off.

"After we kill Kudo Shinichi, we'll make the demands for Aniki's release," Vodka said. "We'll show them his dead body and tell them that you would have the exact same fate."

Heiji raised an eyebrow. "Uh. Why not make the demands for Gin's release now?"

"Because we want Kudo Shinichi dead first," Vodka replied. "Aniki would be proud of us."

Or mad because ya took his kill, Heiji thought, but he didn't say it out loud.

"We aren't ready for Kudo Shinichi to find us just yet, though," Vodka said gruffly. "This was just a temporary location, until we could find a way into Aniki's place. Gives it much more meaning if Aniki finds out the detective was killed on the floor of his own house." Vodka grinned.

"Yer insane," Heiji muttered, but didn't say much more. Instead, he refocused his efforts into examining the room. Due to Vodka's presence, an escape would be unlikely. However, he knew he had to get out before they could move him.

One of the kidnappers walked in, carrying a bunch of clothes, which he dumped at Heiji's feet. "Put these on."

Heiji looked up to see the kidnapper he had knocked out with a lunch tray, glaring fiercely at him. He smirked. "Or what?"

"Or I'll beat you up," he growled.

Heiji glanced at Vodka. His lack of reaction confirmed that he didn't care how injured Heiji got, as long as he was still alive. Sighing, Heiji said, "At least leave the room. I highly doubt ya would like to see me naked."

"Of course I wouldn't," the kidnapper muttered, but politely left. Heiji glanced at Vodka.

"So you can escape?" Vodka asked. "No. I'm staying." However, he politely brought out a newspaper and stared at that instead. He still seemed to be keeping Heiji in his peripheral vision, though. Sighing, Heiji started changing into the clothes brought for him.

If this was supposed to be a disguise, it was the crappiest one ever. It practically screamed disguise, and seriously, a bucket hat? Sure, they were nice and all, but did not go well with Heiji. Still, he put them on. He didn't feel like getting beat up, not when he didn't have anything to defend himself with.

Sitting down again, Heiji noticed that Vodka was still reading the newspaper. Then the man smirked and shoved it in Heiji's face. "It's all about you."

Scanning over the article, Heiji saw it was, in fact, about him and the police investigation. His eyes widened as he realized that Kudo Shinichi's name wasn't mentioned anywhere in the article. Is Kudo not looking for me? He mentally scoffed at that. Of course he is, he probably just doesn't want the publicity or something.

Heizo was mentioned a lot in the article, however. He was in charge of the investigation, and it seemed they haven't gotten far - or if they had, they just hadn't revealed it to the public just yet. Classic Heizo, he would do that. They definitely had to have done that, because…

"Yer moving me because ya were found out, right?" Heiji questioned Vodka.

"Yes," Vodka confirmed.

"By the police?" Heiji asked.

Vodka shook his head. "No, your boyfriend."

"Huh," Heiji muttered. So Shinichi really just didn't want the publicity? But wait, Vodka was treating Shinichi and the police as two separate beings… was Shinichi not working with the police? What was going on?

Heiji shoved those questions to the back of his mind. It didn't matter. He had to escape before they left.

Finally, one of the kidnappers entered the room again. "The car is ready."

Heiji felt a pit of dread build in his stomach. Great. His only escape chance now was if he made a break for it while they brought him there.

Vodka nodded. "Great. Restrain him." He nodded at Heiji. The kidnapper brought out a roll of duct tape.

"No!" Heiji hissed, jumping out of his seat and backing up. "Ya aren't going ta restrain me!"

The kidnapper snorted. "I think I will. Come on closer, detective."

Heiji glared at him, and just backed away more. There was nothing he could use as a weapon in this room, unless…

Quickly, Heiji rolled up the thick newspaper still in his hands, then held it up. The kidnapper snorted and came closer, but Heiji acted faster, striking him on top of the head with a powerful blow. The kidnapper staggered back, but Heiji was already running.

"Are you a fool? Get him!" Vodka called out, and Heiji heard two pairs of footsteps behind him. However, he kept running. This time - this time, maybe he could…

Another kidnapper leaped in front of him, and Heiji skidded to a halt. Raising his rolled up newspaper warily, he heard Vodka and the other kidnapper stop behind him. He was trapped.

"Did you really think you could escape?" Vodka asked snidely. "Really, Hattori Heiji, you aren't as clever as you think you are."

Heiji swallowed. He was right. He wasn't Kudo Shinichi.

"Drop the newspaper," Vodka ordered, and Heiji hesitantly did so. "Tie him up," Vodka commanded the kidnapper with the duct tape, and Heiji felt his hands forced behind his back as the kidnapper began tying him up.

He really was hopeless, wasn't he?

Finally, Vodka said, "Bring him to the car."

Heiji felt someone shove his back, and then they were walking towards the car. Heiji took deep breaths, looking around, but there was no way to escape now. Now… They were going to leave, and Shinichi would never find them.

And then, when Heiji was forced into the car, he heard a voice.

"Long time no see, Vodka."

Vodka turned and narrowed his eyes. "I see you've come… Kudo Shinichi."
