Good Day Readers and welcome to the sequel to The Lost Kingdom! Thanks to all of you for the support and I hope that you all enjoy this latest edition of the Hope sisters. This upload will focus on the Grand Prix/Grand Championship arc whilst next week we'll move onto Dawn of the Duel arc

Chapter 9: - Leon in Fairyland
I ground to a halt beside Katherine, breathing rather heavily at having basically run halfway across the theme park just to get to where Rebecca had been Dueling against Leon. It had kind of been an unexpected emergency, Arthur had told me, Yugi and the others that Suguroku had apparently been kidnapped from the hospital and so we split up to search for him but when we finally had an answer, Yugi had requested that I head to Katherine's location.
"And where the heck have you been?! And where are Yugi and the others!?" Katherine snapped. I looked at my little sister, seeing that she had her hands firmly planted on her hips and an angry expression on her face as she stared at me, I quickly knelt down so as to not distract Rebecca from the Duel that she was currently emersed in.
"Suguroku's gone missing. Yugi has gone looking for him along with the others, but Yugi wanted me to be here for Rebecca. He thought it better for me to help them search at first but since they had a location, he wants me here to provide support," I explained. Katherine's face went worried the moment I let the reason out of my lips and since Mum had been standing beside us, I saw the concern reflected within her own face as she looked at me.
"I hope they locate Suguroku-san quickly and safely. Rebecca's been quite despondent over Yugi-san not being here for her… I'm starting to think Rebecca's infatuation might be a little more than that. You've got yourself a love rival Katherine," Mum commented. A small smile pulled at mum's lips, apparently she'd had a few rivals to win dad's affections… or rather bitches that tried to force the two of them apart and always failed magnificently and dad just fell for mum even harder.
"I have two. Rebecca and Anzu, even if Anzu is torn between her feelings for Yugi and Yami, I can tell she likes Yugi," Katherine grumbled. At the mention of feelings and Yami I looked away, deciding it was best that me and Yami had kept quiet about our feelings for each other given this revelation of Anzu's feelings, we didn't always get along before, but she might just out right hate me if that ever came to light
"My turn! Draw!" Rebecca declared. All of our attention swivelled towards Rebecca's Duel as the girl proceeded to draw a card from her Deck. "I activate Pot of Greed from my hand! I draw two cards from my Deck!" Rebecca announced. She pulled the two cards free and looked at them before selecting another card to play. "I Summon Witch of the Black Forest in Attack Position!" Rebecca announced. The three eyes Monster appeared on the field.
Witch of the Black Forest – Attribute: Dark, Type: Magician, Level: 4, ATK/1100, DEF/1200
"Witch of the Black Forest, destroy Pumpkin Carriage!" Rebecca commanded. The Monster Rebecca had just Summoned proceeded to charge forward and dealt a knee strike to the carriage made of fruit which cause it along with the horses attached to it to be shattered apart. "Now Cinderella can't attack me directly," Rebecca stated. Good plan, it would prevent such a dangerous event especially since from what I saw Cinderella's Attack Points equalled Rebecca's Life Points. "I end my turn!" Rebecca declared.
"I haven't seen anyone aside from me or you put Rebecca in such a sticky predicament before," I admitted to Katherine. My sister nodded her head in agreement at those words, Rebecca had been so thoroughly trained by me, Katherine and Arthur that she was basically a grandmaster of the Duel Monsters game before her first real competition and had never really struggled against someone aside from us until she met Yugi.
"My turn! Draw!" Leon declared. He pulled a card free and looked at it before stretched the hand – card and all – out towards Rebecca's field. "Cinderella attacks Witch of the Black Forest!" Leon ordered. The blonde haired woman spun around and kicked her glass slippers at the Monster, causing Rebecca's Witch to be destroyed immediately and leeching a smidge of Rebecca's Life Points from her.
Rebecca – LP: 1300 – LP: 1100
"Witch of the Black Forest's effect activates!" Rebecca declared. As she did, she slid the Monster's card into the Graveyard. "When it's placed in the Graveyard… I add a Monster with one thousand and five hundred or lower Defence Points from my Deck to my hand," Rebecca revealed. She pulled her Deck free and quickly started to look through it, she selected a card and briefly showed it off to us, before adding it to her hand and sliding it back into her Duel Disk.
"I'm not done! I Summon Thumb Kid in Defence Position!" Leon declared. He played the card and a small boy dressed in green clothing appeared on the field in a crouched position with arm's crossed, I furrowed my eyebrows at the Monsters that coated Leon's field; I'd heard of the boy but never seen him Duel so I didn't know much about his Deck's contents. "I also set one card and end my turn!" Leon decided.
Thumb Kid – Attribute: Earth, Type: Magician, Level: 1, ATK/100, DEF/100
"My turn! Draw!" Rebecca declared. She pulled the card free before quickly swapping it out for a different card. "I Summon Ruby Dragon in Attack Position!" Rebecca declared. That had been the card that she got through Witch of the Black Forest's effect, the glimmering red dragon appeared on the field with a roar.
Ruby Dragon – Attribute: Wind, Type: Dragon, Level: 4, ATK/1600, DEF/1300
"I activate the Magic card, Fire Dragon's Blazing Bullet, from my hand!" Rebecca announced. Immediately, fire began to gather within Ruby Dragon's maw before flowing out slightly as if it was desperate to escape. "Fire Dragon's Blazing Bullet destroys a face up Monster with eight hundred or lower defence points!" Rebecca revealed. The blonde girl then pointed at the blonde haired princess of Leon's field who panicked over this fact as the fire shot forward from Ruby Dragon, Cinderella was ensnared and scream before shattering apart. "Next, Ruby Dragon attacks Thumb Kid!" Rebecca commanded. A burst of light was unleashed by Ruby dragon towards Leon's Monster.
"Reverse card, open! Attack Nullification! It negates your attack and ends the Battle Phase," Leon declared. The card rose up and prevented the attack from hitting his Monster, Rebecca ended her turn with a couple of face downs, her face was determined but it turned sad as she looked around and didn't see Yugi, honestly I don't even know if she saw me with how she didn't react at all when her eyes passed over me.
"Rebecca! Don't lose!" A girl cheered in English. We looked over in time to see two other girls on either side of the one who cheered encourage her on and the other pushed her to fight, a light burst into Rebecca's eyes and then they widened before moving over to me, I smiled at the girl and nodded my head in encouragement for her to keep fighting.
"Rebecca, keep fighting," Arthur encouraged. Rebecca closed her eyes, but she seemed more confident now and opened her eyes as she proceeded to turn around to face her opponent, Leon started his turn and pulled a card free before he quickly decided to activate a Magic card known as Giant's Training from his hand which let him Summon Globerman by tributing a Thumb Kid that had been on his field for one turn.
Globerman – Attribute: Earth, Type: Warrior, Level: 8, ATK/2600, DEF/2000
"All his Monsters… they're based on the characters from stories that I used to read to you two," Mum stated. Her gaze had moved over to the two of us before flickering back to the field as Leon had Globerman attack Ruby Dragon, destroying the Monster and significantly dropping Rebecca's Life Points, yet the blonde genius didn't seem down heartened this time around.
Rebecca – LP: 1100 – LP: 100
"Reverse card, open! Rope of Life! When a battle sends a Monster to the Graveyard… I discard my hand to activate it! I Special Summon the Monster and raise its' Attack Points by eight hundred! I have zero cards in my hand! I Special Summon Ruby Dragon!" Rebecca revealed. The Monster returned to the field with new strength to help it fight in this Duel.
Ruby Dragon – ATK/1600 – ATK/2400
"I activate another face down! Adamantine Sword Revival!" Rebecca declared. As she did, the girl activated the face down card, causing it to rise up as she spoke. "I Release a Special Summon Dragon-type Monster! To Special Summon Diamond Head Dragon from my Deck!" Rebecca revealed. Wind swirled around Ruby Dragon as Rebecca searched through hr Deck for the Monster and pulled it free, projecting the Monster onto the field as Ruby Dragon shattered apart. "Diamond Head Dragon's Attack Points are equal to the Released Monster's Attack Points plus one thousand!" Rebecca revealed.
Diamond Head Dragon – Attribute: Light, Type: Dragon, Level: 8, ATK/0, DEF/2800
Diamond Head Dragon – ATK/0 – ATK/3400
"How's that?" Rebecca questioned. Leon seemed stunned by the Monster standing against him but proceeded to end her turn, I smiled at seeing the fighting spirit that normally resided within Rebecca blazing even more bright; she was the kind of person who could only properly shine when meeting a challenge head on with all of her might.
"Still… I wonder who kidnapped Suguroku and why for that matter," Katherine suddenly spoke up. I looked at my sister and saw the concern had returned to her face, no doubt due to the road that her thoughts had turned to now that the Duel had taken a small break, unfortunately it wasn't likely to stay that way for long so we needed to have this conversation quickly.
"Yugi-san seems to adore his family, I wouldn't put it passed some twisted individual to have kidnapped the poor man simply to force Yugi-san to comply with demands that were made. Especially given Suguroku's precarious position," Mum stated. That position happened to be that the old man had thrown his back out by getting hyped up over Vivian when we saw her and Katherine preparing for their Duel, Arthur had rushed him to hospital and that was from where the man had been flinched from whilst Arthur had been distracted by watching Rebecca during the Round Two matches.
"Actually, there was an announcement which happened to guide us to the clue as to Suguroku's location. But the thing that unnerved me is the voice sounded like Vivian's," I admitted. Those words were ones I shouldn't have spoken as Katherine's expression descended into one of loathing and rage upon me speaking the Chinese woman's name, I could actually see storm clouds start to gather around Katherine's head.
"That sick twisted daughter of low born worm wants to make Yugi a 'love slave'," Katherine growled. Mum lifted Yumiko up and took a step away from Katherine looking slightly terrified of her as I stared at my little sister in utter surprise by her reaction; her face cleared up suddenly as if remembering something. "Seto too, now that I recall," Katherine added on. Mum moved back over with Yumiko but still seemed wary of her youngest daughter.
"That's… pathetic. That is really the only word that can be given to that, utterly pathetic," I commented. I recalled the conversation I had with Vivian before our brief Duel in Battle City, she had spouted the same ridiculous load of nonsense then, Yami was firmly in love with me and Yugi didn't seem interested in Vivian whilst Seto was so enamoured with Blue-Eyes I almost thought he was in love with the card sometimes.
"I know. Vivian was acting like a nutbar during my Duel against her after Yugi showed up and during the gala on the night before. She seems like the type to pull this kind of nonsense stunt, I just really hope that Yugi and the others find Suguroku and get him back to the doctors before he comes to anymore harm," Katherine stated. I pressed my lips together in a stiff line as I tried to think about anything but Suguroku coming to harm, Yugi would be devastated by such an event occurring.
"Yugi-san isn't so weak, he'll find Suguroku and bring the foolish man back, I honestly can't believe this is happening," Mum commented. She reached up to rub the bridge of her nose, it was probably a good thing we had left out certain details regarding the events that had transpired during Battle City, she worried so much over normal things that explaining the death matches would probably cause her to faint if not cause some kind of other health issue.
"He's coming," Katherine spoke. She seemed to have perked up suddenly, her eyes widened as she took a step forward slightly. "Rebecca! Cheer up!" Katherine called. Rebecca turned around to look at Katherine with confusion in her eyes. "Yugi is on his way! Keep Dueling!" Katherine explained. I smiled slightly at her words as Rebecca actually beamed at the news.
'Rivals in love they maybe, but that doesn't mean Kathie stops caring about people.' I thought. She was too nice to do that to someone that she personally knew; as if to support Katherine's statement, Yugi and the others – a healthy Suguroku included – all arrived, looking exhausted and out of breath but they let their presence be known to the girl who seemed to be glowing at their appearance.
"Are you ok, Rebecca? You only have one hundred Life Points," Jounouchi worried. However, Rebecca believed that she would be fine given that Yugi was now here to cheer her on, Yugi told her to do her best and Rebecca turned around to face her opponent who had been patiently waiting for Rebecca to get her focus back.
"My turn! Draw!" Rebecca declared. She pulled card free from her Deck and didn't even give it a glance as she pointed at her opponent. "Diamond Head Dragon attacks Globerman!" Rebecca commanded. The spiky diamonds on the dragon's head began to glow before a powerful force sent them flying forward and smashing into smashed into Leon's Monster causing it to blast apart and dropping Leon's Life Points down a good chunk. "I set one card and end my turn!" Rebecca announced.
Leon – LP: 1700 – LP: 900
"My turn! Draw!" Leon declared. He pulled the card free and looked at it before flipping the card around to show it to the rest of us. "I activate the Magic card, Gold Coin of the Stars from my hand!" Leon declared. I raised an eyebrow at this before looking down at Katherine only to find her covering her mouth as her eyes darted about wildly. "I'll give you this. I can activate Gold Coin of the Stars by giving you the remaining cards in my hand. Then I draw the same number of cards from my Deck," Leon explained. He did this as he approached Rebecca and handed her a card.
"Spinning Yarn Needle?" Rebecca questioned. She was looking at the card Leon had given her meaning that was its' name, Rebecca then raised her head to look at Leon. "But you can use this card to destroy my Monster," Rebecca commented. That was worrisome, why hand over such a card unless Leon had a different plan in place in order to defeat Rebecca, either way it was nerve wracking.
"If you Summon a Monster with at least nine hundred Attack Points next turn, I'll lose anyway. So, I'll bet on the future," Leon admitted. He turned around and began to walk back to his position before he turned around, I heard Yami claim there was quiet yet incredible spirit from Leon, even equating it to Katherine's mannerism outside of Duels. "Here I go, Rebecca! I activate the Magic card, One Hundred Year Awakening from my hand!" Leon announced. That had been the card that he had draw via his last Magic card's effect. "I Release Curse of Thorns," Leon revealed.
The moment he spoke those words, the thorns that held Marie hostage became consumed in blazing purple flames and Leon continued by revealing that he was using this sacrifice to Summon out a Monster known as Thorn Princess. Rebecca seemed to be panicking over the unexpected event taking place in front of her as the purple flames grew in size until they towered over her dragon, a silhouette could been seen inside of the fire which soon dispersed and we saw the Monster Leon had Summoned.
Thorn Princess – Attribute: Earth, Type: Magician, Level: 4, ATK/400, DEF/1200
"I activate Thorn Princess' Effect! When it's Summoned, I gain control of one of your Monsters!" Leon declared. That wasn't good and given Katherine's current shocked state I knew that there only one way this Duel was going to end, Thorn Princess opened her eyes and stretched out her hand which caused a light to surround Diamond Head Dragon who turn his head around to face Rebecca. "Diamond Head Dragon attacks you directly!" Leon commanded. The attack it had unleashed before flew down and surrounded Rebecca's form.
Rebecca – LP: 100 – LP: 0
"Rebecca!" All of us exclaimed. We probably hadn't considered the possibility that Rebecca would end up losing her Duel, but it was unavoidable now and the blonde girl looked so dejected given her closed eyes and tilted head; Leon however proceeded to approach the girl and apologised to her, which confused Rebecca and she asked for an explanation as she lifted her head to look at Leon who was surprised.
"Congrats," Rebecca stated. I smiled, glad to see the girl acting so mature and honouring the promise that she had made to Leon, Katherine and Jounouchi before Round Two had begun. "I'm sure Kathie will win her match, so make sure you give it your all against her," Rebecca encouraged. Leon nodded his head as Jounouchi complimented the girl's action causing Honda to claim she was more gracious than Jounouchi was.
"Rebecca you did well," Yugi stated. He had jumped over the small buildings to speak with Rebecca right as Katherine's phone rang so she turned her back and started to talk with whoever it was; that was probably a good thing as Rebecca promptly rushed at Yugi and started blaming him for her loss, she could be such a child sometimes. "I'm sorry," Yugi apologised.
"Um… guys," Katherine called. Everyone turned to look at my sister who had turned around, Rebecca stopped crying and look over at Katherine whose expression was pinched with worry. "We need to get to the main arena, I'm Dueling Sieg there," Katherine revealed.
