The next day, Eda and the kids were sitting around the house doing their own things, with Luz and Amity reading a Good Witch Azura book, Hunter looking through Penstagram on his scroll, and Eda was just lying down on the couch drinking a box of non-alcoholic apple blood.
"Hey, Eda", Luz said, "do you know what we're having for dinner tonight?"
"Not right now", Eda said, "I haven't decided yet."
"Oh, okay", Luz said, "I was just curious."
Just then, Hooty stretched himself into the living room.
"Hoot hoot", Hooty said, "you've got mail!"
He began coughing something up, and an envelope came out of his mouth and landed on the coffee table.
"There you go", Hooty said.
He left the room, and Eda and the kids looked at the envelope.
"Looks like someone sent us a letter", Amity said.
"Who's it from", Hunter asked.
"I don't know", Eda said, "let's open it up and find out."
Eda opened the envelope and pulled out the piece of paper that was inside it and unfolded it, and she saw that it was a brochure for a fundraising dinner that was being held at the Church of Bonesborough that evening, and an idea popped into her head.
"Hey, kids", Eda said, "what do you say we go to church for dinner?"
"Church", Luz asked, "what do they have there to eat?"
"Oh, stuff like meat, salad, and pasta", Eda said, "there's more listed here."
She handed the kids the brochure so they could take a look at it.
"This must be that fundraiser dinner Pastor Raymond mentioned at church today", Luz said.
"Oh yeah, that", Amity said, "I think this might be nice for us to attend."
"I agree", Hunter said, "you know, I'd forgotten all about this event until we got this letter."
"Then it's a good thing someone sent it to us", Eda said, "now, why don't you kids start getting yourselves ready so we'll be ready to go soon."
"Sure thing", Luz said.
Luz, Amity, and Hunter all went upstairs so they could get themselves ready, and a little while later, they, along with Eda, were walking through town to get to the church, and pretty soon, they arrived.
"Well, here we are", Eda said.
The four of them walked over to the entrance, and after paying the fee to the man at the door to get inside, they went inside and walked down a hallway to a room where there were lots of tables and chairs set up, some food was laid out on one big table, and there were lots of people standing around talking to one another.
"Looks like this it it", Eda said.
"Wow", Luz said, "this is quite the turnout."
"I'll say", Hunter said, "Pastor Raymond must be really happy about this."
Just then, Pastor Raymond Whispers walked onto a small stage that was set up into the room and spoke into a microphone.
"Hello everyone, and thank you all for coming to tonight's charity fundraising dinner", Raymond said, "on behalf of the Church of Bonesborough, we thank you for your contributions to those in need, and we hope each and every one of you has a good time tonight."
Raymond walked off the stage, and everyone got in line to get some food, including Eda and the kids, and after they put some food on their plates, they began looking around for some place to sit, and as Luz looked around for one, she noticed something at a nearby table.
"Hey guys, look", Luz said, "it's Willow and Gus."
There, sitting at a table Luz had been looking at, was Willow and Gus, who were both waving hello to her and her friends.
"What do you guys say we go and join them", Luz said.
"I'm in", Hunter said.
"Me too", Amity said.
"Okay", Luz said, "we'll be at that table if you need us, Eda."
"Alright", Eda said, "have fun."
"Thanks", Luz said.
The three friends walked away to eat with their two other close friends, and Eda was by herself once again.
"Well, I guess I might as well go find a place to sit", Eda said.
Eda began walking around to find a table she could sit at, but she wasn't paying enough attention to where she was going and accidentally bumped into someone.
"Oh, sorry", Eda said, "I didn't see you there."
"No, it's okay", the person said, "I..."
The person turned and faced Eda, and she saw that they were none other than Raine Whispers.
"Oh, Raine", Eda said, "it's you."
"Eda", Raine said, "funny running into you here."
The two of them looked into each other's eyes for a moment, and they both began to blush and immediately turned their heads away, but faced each other once again after a minute.
"So", Raine said, "what brings you here?"
"Dinner, of course", Eda said, "that, and my devotion to the Lord."
"Nice", Raine said, "it's good to see that you're showing faith to your religion."
"Thanks", Eda said.
"So, were you looking for a place to sit", Raine asked.
"Yes, actually", Eda said.
"I have an open seat at my table if you want to sit there with me", Raine said, "but if you don't want to, that's okay too."
"No, no, it's fine", Eda said, "I'd love to sit with you."
"Great", Raine said, "follow me."
Eda followed Raine over to the table they were sitting at, and when they got there, the two of them sat down and began eating their food, and as Eda watched Raine eat theirs, she couldn't help but do so lovingly.
"I don't know why, but I can't help but find Raine so alluring right now", Eda thought.
Eda was so lost in thought that she didn't hear Raine talking to her, and it wasn't until they snapped their fingers that she snapped out of it.
"Eda", Raine said.
"Oh, sorry", Eda said, "were you saying something?"
"Yes", Raine said, "I was asking you about Hunter."
"Oh, yeah, Hunter", Eda said, "what about him?"
"I heard recently that he's your son", Raine said.
"That's right", Eda said, "I learned about it during all that drama with the True Magic Coven a few weeks ago."
"I also heard about that", Raine said, "the leader of that group turned out to be his and Amity's father and your ex-husband, right?"
"You mean Paxton Delacroix", Eda asked, "yep, he sure was."
"What happened all those years ago to make you lose Hunter, anyway", Raine asked.
"Well, I guess I can tell you about it", Eda said, "but fair warning, it's a pretty intense story."
"Alright", Raine said.
Eda told Raine about how Paxton had tricked her into thinking Hunter had been killed by a monster when he was a baby, and also how she had thought for so many years that she did it at the Owl Beast, and by the time she was done, Raine could hardly believe what they had heard.
"Oh, Eda", Raine said.
"All that time, I thought it was me and my curse that made me lose my son", Eda said, "but instead, it was that psychotic jerk who I was actually stupid enough to fall in love with."
Raine noticed that remembering stuff like that was making Eda feel upset, so they wrapped their arms around her in a hug, which made Eda blush, and when Raine realized what they were doing, they quickly stopped hugging her and smiled casually, and also began to blush just like Eda.
"So, what happened after Paxton left you", Raine asked, "did you ever fall in love with any other witches?"
"Nope", Eda said, "after things ended between me and him, I didn't really go out and look for love very much."
"I see", Raine said, "and, this is just a random question, but since you're not cursed anymore, do you think you might try again?"
"I'm not planning on it right now", Eda said, "but yes, I guess maybe I could see about doing it if I wanted to."
"Okay", Raine said, "that's nice to know."
Raine smiled as they looked at Eda and thought to themselves about how beautiful she looked, and over at the food table, Luz, Amity, and Hunter were all in line waiting to get some dessert, and they had seen Eda and Raine's reactions and could tell what was happening between them.
"Well, now", Luz said, "this is an interesting development."
