After returning a Pop Tiger magazine he borrowed James sees Katie's diary on her bed and discovers she has a secret crush that she never mentioned to anyone not even her mom. Horrified and curious he sees that it's a boy named Kyle that's in Katie's grade at the Palm Woods school. He's relieved that the kid is her age but upset it's a secret and runs out to show it to the others

2. Chapter 2

*Katie looks at Tyler but he's already chosen to be with a kid named Cody. Most of her classmates have gotten partner and no one has picked her. She hides head on desk quite upset about being ignored*

Wanna be my partner? "Says a shy voice"

*She looks up to see Kyle smiling at her*

You seem really sad that no one has picked you and I think you're really cool

Miss Collins: Ok kids this science project is sure to bring a huge smile your faces. The theme will be Legos! *The whole class cheers* Your goal will to be making a zip line using weight and distance as your guides. See what works for you. I'm gonna give you guys a box full of the Lego pieces you need. Do NOT lose them. Ok? Keep them in a safe place when you're not using them. I have a record of how many I have and expect to have that same number at the end of this project.

It's due next week on Friday. Use your time together wisely. Don't slack or procrastinate

*James is skateboarding when he sees Katie and Kyle chatting at a table. He's so focused on them he crashed into the Jennifers*

James: Call me whatever you want I don't care! *Keeps looking Katie and Kyle*

*The Jennifers look that way as well then realize how concerned he is and feel sympathetic*

Jennifer 1: We're sorry for being so rude. We understand you're just worried about Katie right?

James: Yeah. Got to go. Bye! *Grabs his skateboard and quickly walks over to them*

Katie: Hey James. This is Kyle. You finally get to meet each other

Kyle: Hi I'm a huge BTR fan. I think it's so cool we all live here and go to school together

James: I'm always happy to meet a fan. Whose your favorite member?

Kyle: Kendall. He's so cool and confident. I wanna like him one day

Katie: That is so sweet Kyle. Come on the game room is so much especially after school

Kyle: What about our project?

Katie: That's why we're going. Maybe a game there can inspire some additions to make to your blueprints

Wait! "James says trying to hide the panic in his voice" You can't go there!

Katie: Why?

James: Cuz um..it's crowded and that PAC-Man game you love is broken

Katie: Bitters got it fixed last week. And we don't mind that it's crowded in there. It's always full of kids

Kyle: You wanna come with us?

James: Sure

James: It can wait

Katie: Logan and My mom don't like you slacking off. Kyle and I are going there for research
