"Better get ready, knowing my luck we may fall hundreds of feet in the air before hitting ground level." Emerald warned the duo next to him.
Shunpei gulped when he heard that as Zack got a serious look as the trio got closer to the light.
When the trio flew towards the light… a comical pop noise was heard as the group look at the sky… before they fell just a few inches onto the ground with groans from the sudden drop… seems they fell through the portal right where Emerald saved Zack because Emerald recognized the rocky area they were in while Emerald rubs his head.
"Ugh… guess The Spirit let us pop out here… makes sense if it needed a landing point… wish we landed on grass at least… you two OK?" Emerald said while Shunpei was dazed… Zack though being buffed jumped to his feet, did a couple squats and looks around when he got the numbness from his legs and grins a bit, bad memory aside, he saw Midgar in the distance.
"I-I think so." Shunpei said as Zack chuckled.
"I feel like a hundred percent."
"Good… so… that's Midgar you mentioned in the past Zack?... seems… industrial… and… stuff…" Emerald said while he didn't like how… barren the land around was… hey Emerald was a country guy in the past before TDS so he was used to a lot of nature, even Station square had a lot so this was a 180 to him.
Shunpei was amazed at the city as Zack looked.
"Yeah… that's Midgar. Doesn't look like it changed much but probably when we get closer." He said.
Though as Zack was about to jump over some rocks, he was nearly choked out when Emerald pulled his cloak and pulled Zack back.
"Hold on there rambo!" Emerald said while he opened the scroll a moment later when he noticed something and found a binocular icon… he used a bit of blood on it and it appears as Zack coughs when Emerald looks at the city through them for some reason.
"H-Hey? What was that about?" Zack said as he rubbed his throat.
"Hey quick question… you said this Cloud guy has spiky hair, blonde, has your massive slab of a sword, and is a third class soldier right?" Emerald said while ignoring the pull thing for now while he looks through the Binoculars carefully.
"Uh yeah, why? See something different through those binoculars?" Zack said.
"Yeah… maybe?... you said that 1st class soldiers have a black uniform of sorts, second class as a purple one, and third class normally has some kind of light blue one right?" Emerald questioned while he looks a bit confused.
"Yeah?" Zack said as he was confused at the question.
"W-Well what do you see Emerald? A new color?" Shunpei said.
"Sorta?... you said Cloud was a third class but… uh… take a look." Emerald said when he held the Binoculars to Zack while pointing at Midgar… to be exact, near it with a few dots in the distance.
Zack takes the binoculars and looks to see where a Cloud is and wondered why Emerald was confused.
When he did, he blinks with wide eyes.
"What the hell!?" Zack said loudly while Emerald rubs his head… what Emerald saw was Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barret, and Red XIII, though to Emerald, Barret, a man with ebony skin and a gun on his arm was a mystery, and Red XIII was one as well, all in all, Zack was mainly focused on Cloud for a moment after getting over the shock of seeing Aerith with him… honestly he wasn't sure how long he was gone but seems it was long enough for Cloud here to be wearing black first class Soldier clothing, had the Buster sword on his back, and seems the group were talking though thanks to how far they were, nothing could be heard.
"What the hell indeed, something tells me we either missed quite a bit or were missing something if the group looked like they climbed down some kind of cable instead of taking a normal way out of Midgar… any reasons why that would happen Zack?... granted we can leave the mystery of Cloud's outfit to speculation but from what I can tell from the cable… either on the run or maybe the way out of Midgar normally is busted and they had to take an alternate route?... either way… I get the feeling showing up before them all of a sudden would be a bad idea unless we can tell the date and stuff so we can make a plan." Emerald said while he rubs his chin thoughtfully, seems he would have to be the brains here for getting info since while his first official time in another dimension… second if Mobius counted, one thing Emerald learned is that getting info to help fill in blanks would be good so they know many things.
"S-So how do we do this? Don't think I can be of help if people see a talking animal." Shunpei said.
"OK Shunpei first off don't put yourself down man, second they have a wolf like or lion like being with them with a flaming tail or something, pretty sure you would be the lesser of things people talk about and third, you can help a lot, this world seems pretty tech heavy, and if Zack's materia is anything to go by, may need some of our own before we train as we trail Cloud and his group… nuff said an OP party member does a team not make, we would be slowing Zack down if we don't get a few battles in here or there and last I remember, you said there were monsters around Gaia right?" Emerald said while he looks at Zack who calmed a bit since Emerald's reasoning for a number of ways helped him think clearer.
"Yeah… and without the right training, you and Shunpei may not make it out. Not trying to scare you guys but we have a lot to do." Zack said.
"Well I got an OP healing factor so very least Shunpei can just toss me at Monsters who maybe distracted by me, but considering that there are normal humans, how did they get around?... cars and stuff?" Emerald said while Zack shrugged.
"More or less, aside fliers and what not, most monsters can't keep up, so unless that scroll has something for us, would be hard to outrun monsters." Zack said while Emerald hums.
"Well I have Onimusha who can shapeshift into things… wonder if he can transform into a motorcycle or a car… may as well look at the scroll first just in case so I can save energy though." Emerald said before he looks at Zack again.
"Got any spare Materia we can borrow from your inventory or something so we can train a bit with them?... from the level of power I can sense, you would easily kick my ass now so you must have some stuff right?, maybe talk with Shunpei on what tech we may see and stuff so he can fiddle with it as we come across things… better to be prepared and stuff." Emerald said while he opened the scroll and starts looking through it for anything they can use leaving Zack and Shunpei alone for a moment metaphorically speaking.
"Well… Now that I'm stronger here more or less… I think I can share some materia with you guys." Zack said.
"R-Really?... w-well thanks… no need to worry about high level stuff, just basic stuff will do." Shunpei said while Zack rummaged around some kind of item he had that looked bigger than it was on the inside than out before he found some materia.
"Ah, here we go… a few Cure materia, fire, thunder, and Blizzard Matieria, basic of basic materia, cheap, plentiful, and best of all, got other materia to combo into them… an All materia… unlike magic in yours and Emerald's world, Materia have a single target thing only, with the right weapon or accessory here, we can pretty much combo an all materia and it gives us the option of say, if many of us are harmed, an All materia will be able to let us cast the spell on all of us with a single cure spell in the party, without it, single target only… bit off compared to your world but hey, least we have an option." Zack said while he rummage around and found a few items.
"Ah… here we go… some bangles with links in them, here you take one Shunpei, and here Emerald, with them you can link materia, though if you think linking fire and ice make water, not quite what they are for, what you see is what you get here." Zack said while Emerald hums.
"I see… so if we find a materia with water spells, that is the only way to cast watch magic huh?... well like you said better than nothing, I'll take a thunder and all Materia if you have extras, if not, let Shunpei use the All materia with a cure since he can be support for now until we get him some better weapons and equipment." Emerald said while Zack and Emerald look at Shunpei and aside the tool belt… didn't have much of weaponry and accessories.
"Good point." Zack said as he gave the stuff to duo and seems to have enough All Materia for the trio and what not.
"Nice… now if we meet some monsters, I got the option of using Thunder magic on all monsters we fight or just one?... any risk of friendly fire?" Emerald asked while Zack rubs his chin.
"Well yes but only because of the fact it can be cast on anyone, though just a heads up, we do have occasional undead monsters, cast a cure or life spell on them and it will harm or kill them instantly, possibly putting them to rest." Zack said while Shunpei shivers.
"U-Undead!?... like as in Goblins, ghosts, and ghouls?" Shunpei said while Emerald chuckles.
"Oh my, though… I think Goblins are not quite the undead type here… still nice to know, for now as long as we're set up enough as is… we should get ready to go… chances are Cloud's group will be heading towards the nearest town so know if there is a town nearby Zack?" Emerald asked while Zack nods his head.
"Yeah, Kalm, its a place nearby with a chocobo ranch near it as well if either place is still standing, may not need a car to get there but just in case find anything Emerald?" Zack asked while Emerald hums as he found a car like icon.
"Maybe, lets get to some kind of flat terrain instead of here… pretty sure if what I found is a car, may not last if we drive off a cliff." Emerald said while he sweatdrops at how high the trio were.
"Oh right. Doubt there are any flying cars so let's go." Zack said.
Emerald nods as he and Shunpei got up and followed Zack, after a bit the trio got on guard when a large monster appeared before them right as they were about to leave the cliff like area and Zack grins when he got in a fighting stance with a basic sword in hand for now.
"Hehe, nothing like a warm welcome by monster to help get the blood pumping huh?" Zack said with an amused look as the group looks at the FF7 equivalent of the Iron giant as it held a massive sword in hand and glared menicingly at the trio while Shunpei shook from how massive the monster was.
"Y-You fight things like this daily!?" Shunpei said as Zack grins when he held his weapon with both hands and held the blade in a pose.
"Hehe, yup… and I'm going to enjoy this line…" Zack said while he felt nostalgic as he speaks.
"Embrace your dreams… if you want to be a hero… you need to have dreams and honor…" Zack said while lowered the weapon while looking at the iron giant with a determined look.
"I don't care if people think I'm dead or not… as long as I got the will.. I'll make sure to protect what I care for… Soldier or not!" Zack said before he rushed the Iron giant as the scene ends with a black screen while the title of this story was seen one final time.
