Anthony DiNozzo Jr. was a young, fairly healthy young man. After contracting and beating the Plague a couple years ago he started taking his health much more seriously and being more cautious in life. He wakes earlier, eats healthier and does not sleep around anymore. He knew he sometimes went too far with his tales of women to his coworkers; however he did that often to try and distract his boss, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, from realizing Tony is in love with him.
When Tony woke up this morning he knew he woke before his alarm. Not even bothering to open his eyes yet he tried desperately to fall back to sleep. He was not sure what woke him up until his brain fog lifted enough for the insistent message from his bladder made itself known. Knowing he could not fall back asleep he slowly cracked his eyes open. He looked at the clock to find it at 05:15. Not too much longer until his alarm would wake him anyways. He dragged his body into a seated position so he could slide out of bed. He shuffled his way to the bathroom where he took care of this aching bladder.
Already in the bathroom Tony washed his hands and splashed his face with cold water to wake himself up some more. He changed into running shorts and a t-shirt so he could do his daily 3 mile run. He grabbed his shoes, apartment key and water before leaving for his run. Getting back after the run he goes to start coffee and take a shower. He finishes his shower quick after checking the time and running a bit early. He decides to stop and pick up muffins for the team and himself this morning. He gets out of the shower and picks out a nice Armani suit. He grabs a travel mug to make a coffee for the drive.
On the drive to the Navy Yard was relatively traffic free and after stopping for muffins he parked in the garage. Going through security he gets into the elevator towards the bullpen. He greets everyone as he goes, stopping by his friend Balboa's desk to give him a muffin as well and talk about their upcoming basketball game at the Y this weekend. Wrapping up the conversation he walks into the MCRT desks of the bullpen. He spots his boss already there but McGee and David are not there yet.
Noticing Gibbs is on the phone he silently places the muffin on the desk in front of his boss and goes to turn on his own computer. He starts up looking at what paperwork needs to be completed today for wrapping up the case they just finished. He put it all aside for a minute to finish his muffin and put the two for McGee and Davis on their desks then going down to Ducky and Jimmy and finally Abby knowing she will want to talk.
As he gets in the elevator down to autopsy he checks his phone just in case they get a case. He assumes they will be on cold cases for a couple days after their last case. He is grateful for that because the attitude he has been getting from McGee and David lately has him getting frustrated. The elevator dings as the doors open and he walks into the autopsy. He greets Jimmy Palmer and Ducky with muffins. Jimmy became one of his biggest supporters and friends lately. While Gibbs was in Mexico, I was overwhelmed.
"Anthony my dear boy, thank you. How are you this morning?" Ducky asked. He started getting tea for himself and Jimmy. We all sat down to chat for a bit while they ate and got caught up on how the weekend was.
"I am gonna go give Abby her muffin before she gets too busy" Tony says before getting up. He grabbed the last muffin and make the walk to the lab. He could hear the music blasting before he even got to the glass doors. He walked in and turned down the music.
Tony POV
"Hey! Oh Tony what are you doing here?" Abby bounced over to me and gave me a tight hug. I handed her the strawberry muffin I got specifically for her because the icing looked a little like blood. We ended up talking for a while about her latest bowling night with the nuns. Checking the time on my phone I knew I had to get back up to the desks and start my paperwork. I said goodbye to Abby and headed to the elevator. Going up I noticed that McGee and David are here so I quickly greeted them.
I started my paperwork and the monthly expense reports in order to stay ahead. I noticed Gibbs finished his muffin and was also working on paperwork. I worked for another half an hour until I got a call on my work phone. I saw Gibbs look up at the ringing because we have no active cases and he gets the calls.
"Hello, Very Special Agent DiNozzo here" I answered while sitting back in my chair.
"Good Afternoon Agent DiNozzo, my name is Grace and I am calling from a hospital in London. Do you have a few minutes to talk?" The caller answered. I sat up quickly dropping the pen I was playing with. I leaned forward to think for a second.
"I do have a few minutes however I am not sure why you would be calling me. Does this have to do with my mothers family?" I ask, chewing on my nails. I see Gibbs head whip around to look at me.
"I do not know how to tell you this because this is confidential information." She hesitates.
"I have clearance for my job but will this require me to ask my boss?" I asked and moved over a little as Gibbs came to lean on my desk.
"Oh no sir. Okay I am calling to let you know that your son is here in the emergency room and we will need you to come here if possible to discuss how to proceed." She said. Causing my eyes to widen and my jaw dropped. I covered the phone and asked Gibbs to have McGee and David leave the area, I do not want them to hear this. He got them to leave and we moved to the conference room to continue the call.
" Ma'am, I do not have a son." I said freaking out a little. Gibbs put his hand on my shoulder when I swayed a bit. I could see the questions in his eyes but I did not have the answers.
"We ran a DNA test on him because someone found him injured. I really cannot tell you more over the phone other than we got him stable and the DNA test confirmed that he is your son." Grace told me. I looked at Gibbs for help because I was very overwhelmed.
"I can look into flights and take some time off of work and be there as soon as I can but it might not be today" I said. We wrapped up the conversation with her telling me the name of the hospital and that the condition of the child did not change.
I turned around and looked at boss, not really sure what to do. He took my hand and led me back to my desk to look up flights and hotels in london. I found a flight that night and booked a seat and a motel near by the hospital. I looked over at Gibbs and saw him filling out the paperwork for emergency family leave for me to sign. I decided it might be good to see my Uncle Clive while I am in England so I might contact him as well. He might be able to help me figure out what to do. After getting everything ready and filed I got packed to go home for the day.
"Tony, come to my house tonight and I'll drive you to the airport. We'll have cowboy steaks at 18:00." Boss said. I nodded my head and headed home to pack. My day just went from good to crazy real fast.
