Tony studied and learned as much as he could in the next couple weeks before he was due to go back to work. He had always been a good student and seemed to pick up on the lessons very well. He learned a lot and even had spells that will help him with his job like a scan to see if there are people around, wards to keep those will ill intent away, and even Clive had finally managed the set of runes he was able to carve into phone batteries to help them not only work around magic, but stay charged with magic. They were able to do this with Tony's laptop as well so he was doing some work there.
Tomorrow is the first day Tony will be back at work starting with a meeting with Director Vance before anybody else comes in. He is going to bring Harry and show him where he works, he plans to introduce him to the security guards so that if Harry is ever in trouble or needs help he knows where to go. They also have a few schools to choose from for Harry to start when he turns 5 magic wise however they found a preschool for him this year. Because it is half way through the year already he would only be at the daycare for 5 months. He is going to stay with Clive for the first week then he will start half days for the second week. After that Clive is going back to England so he will go full day until he can be picked up by Jimmy Palmers wife.
Harry was introduced to Jimmy and his little family one day when they all met in the park. Breena was pregnant with little Victoria and so she offered to babysit Harry to get some practice for when her baby girl comes. Harry instantly took a liking to Breena when made Tony feel better. He was a little shy around Jimmy but his easy going and gentle atmosphere helped Harry calm down and tell him all about his dragon stuffy and the adventures he has gone on.
Tony had explained to Harry about how he had to go back to work and then, came the melt down. He begged Tony for almost an hour not to leave him promising he would be good. Gibbs eventually had to help and explain everything as well.
Tony did not get a good night's sleep worrying about Harry and how he would react with Uncle Clive tomorrow being away from Tony for the first time since the hospital. He was joined in bed by Harry around 01:20 where he sang him an Italian lullaby his mother used to sing him. He finally fell asleep around 03:00 holding his little lightning bug.
Tony woke up to his alarm at 05:30 and quickly shut it off before Harry woke up too early. He shuffled out of bed and towards the kitchen for a coffee. He needed to wake up a little bit before he could get ready for the day. He saw Gibbs coming back from his morning run and made enough coffee for him as well. Gibbs drank his coffee with a gruff thanks before going upstairs to shower for the day. Tony went back to his room to pick out his clothes and make sure his go bag still had everything he would need. He also got Harry's backpack ready with some extra pull-ups, a coloring book and crayons, a story book, and a couple of little toys.
When the shower was open Tony went to take his shower. He took a bit longer under the hot water to relax his muscles a little from the tension of leaving Harry for the day. He got out and made sure to shave the few day old beard he had going. After he finished getting dressed he walked back to his room, seeing the bed empty he grabbed the bags and made his way downstairs where Jethro and Harry were sitting talking about what Harry was excited about doing today. Clive is taking Harry to the Smithsonian museum where Harry is hoping to see dinosaurs and Uncle Clive is excited about the history of the United States he can learn. Tony smiled seeing Harry and Jethro interact so easily. He sat down and grabbed a bagel to eat for breakfast. They decided to all drive in two cars as Clive will need the car seat to take Harry out after the meeting. The drive itself was not eventful.
"Good morning Kyle, Dave" Tony greeted the security guards working that morning. "Harry, this is my good friends Kyle and Dave. They work here at the front desk to make sure the people coming in are allowed." Tony said holding Harry when he got shy around the new people. Tony got a visitor's pass for Clive and Harry. "If you are ever in trouble and are near here I want you to tell them and they will help you and come get me okay? Can you say hi to them for me so they know you?"
"Good morning Tony, Good morning Harry." Dave said. He made sure to get a good look at Harry so he could tell the other security guards. He noticed Harry shyly wave at them and smiled at the adorable sight. "The director is already upstairs" he said, knowing they had a meeting.
Tony nodded to them and went through the doors to the elevator. He was showing both Harry and Uncle Clive around as they walked there. They stopped on the floor with the bullpen to drop off Tony and Gibbs bags then walked up the staircase to the director's office. There were not many people in yet because it was so early. He saw that Balboa's team was in already. He was pointing things and people out to Harry and telling him stories.
When they got up to Vance's office they realized that his assistant was not in yet so Tony knocked on the door and waited for them to be allowed in. He walked in and saw Vance behind his desk shuffling some paperwork around. He looked up and saw the group and looked at Gibbs with a raised eyebrow. He gestured to the table for them to all sit at.
"Good morning, I can see why you asked for an early morning meeting now." Vance said, taking his seat at the head of the table.
"Good morning director. Thank you for meeting us so early. I would like to introduce you to my Uncle Clive Paddington and my son Harrison DiNozzo." Tony said. Clive shook Vance's hand and Harry waved shyly and hid his face in Tony's sleeve. Leon's mouth quirked up at the side. "Uncle Clive and Harry this is the Director of NCIS Leon Vance."
"It is good to meet you Lord Paddington, you as well Harry. I assume this meeting is about your change in circumstances?" Vance said.
"Yes I have the paperwork filled out to drop off at HR later when they come in. I also wanted you and Harry to meet in case he ever needs help and he finds you, he will know it is safe to ask you for help. I am not introducing him to the team yet due to personal reasons so I am asking that you do not tell the rest of the team until I am comfortable with it." Tony said, pulling out Harry's dragon stuffy so he can play with it.
"I will do my best to help him if I ever need to. We will talk later about some things without young ears if that is okay?" Vance said.
"That is fine. I need to explain something else later as well. We are going to see Ducky and Jimmy this morning and then Uncle Clive and Harry are going out for the day so any time later as long as we have no case is fine." Tony said.
They talked for another little bit about changes in forms and what Tony can expect as a parent now. They wrapped up and Harry was getting excited about seeing Ducky. Tony asked Leon to call and make sure Ducky had no bodies out because he did not want Harry to see that and when they got the all clear they made their way back down in the elevator. Harry was holding Tony's hand and walked towards Ducky's office deciding that would be better than the morgue for now. Ducky had made tea for them and they sat and chatted for a while about the Smithsonian. Harry was telling Ducky all about how he was hoping to see dinosaurs and Ducky was telling Clive and Harry about the secret magic section he found when he visited once.
After a while Harry and Clive left for the museum and Gibbs and Tony went up to start their day. Tony stopped at HR and dropped off the paperwork with Deloris Broomstead while Gibbs went up to his desk. Gibbs saw that McGee was there but not Ziva yet. He greeted McGee and started up his computer.
"Good morning Gibbs, Good morning Tim. Is Tony still not here? When will he get over himself and come back?" Ziva said as she came into the bullpen. Gibbs was really sick of her attitude and ready to write her up if she harasses Tony today.
"Good morning Probie, morning Ziva, all done boss" Tony said as he walked into the bullpen towards his desk. He sat down and turned on his computer as well, well aware of the eyes on him.
"Good morning Tony, is everything okay? You were gone for a while and Gibbs wouldn't tell us where you were." Tim said. Tony could tell he was genuinely worried about his health.
"I'm alright Probie. I had a family emergency so I had to take some time off. Thank you for asking and worrying about me." Tony replied, smiling at him.
"You cannot just disappear like that and expect to come back the same Tony." Ziva said. She was clearly angry about something.
"I do not know what you mean, Officer David. Everyone is allowed emergency leave and they come back just like Tony." Gibbs said, genuinely confused by what she meant.
"Well if Tony was not at work he should have told us. He was not at his apartment either so clearly he left and did not tell us." Ziva said.
"I notified all the proper channels and was in contact with the Boss the whole time. I am not sure why you feel you are entitled to know what I do on emergency leave when it does not impact you." Tony looked at Gibbs as if saying 'is she serious'.
"You obviously do not understand how a team works then if you do not tell everyone where you were." Ziva said.
Tony chose to just ignore that comment while Gibbs was starting a file of every time Ziva disrespected senior agents. Tony just got back on his computer to look at any paperwork that may have backed up and got started. He knew this would be a long day.
