I do not own Star Wars. Only my oc's and plotlines.

Peace.
Which lasted over the galaxy for centuries. It was watched by the Jedi Knights; guardians of the galaxy that used their skills to defend justice and became the Republic's peacemakers. Those that ruled over the Republic were the members of the Galactic Senate. Which was made up of thousands of delegates, representing every planet in the Republic, which gather in the Senate chambers on a central core world by the name of Coruscant, many called the planet the homeworld of humanity. There they wrote the laws of the Republic and settled the disputes that sometimes arise between planets. Over the many centuries across the stars, many problems have come before the senate which started to grow worrisome due to one major dispute returning to be spoken about every year. The dispute over taxing trade routes seemed no different.
The Trade Federation. An interstellar shipping and trade conglomerate that was created in 350 BBY during the onset of the High Republic, leaving the organizing to rise within the Outer Rim Territories and became locked in a power struggle with the Republic when it came to size, prestige, and power. Within the year 32 BBY the organization of merchants have become so powerful they have a representative in the Galactic Senate, just as if they were a planet- wanted more control in the outlying star systems. Those very outlying planets objected which caused the debate within the senate to drag on and on.
No-one saw the fact that the Trade Federation started to lose patience, and the Federation took more drastic action. They chose the small, watery world of Naboo and blockaded it, surrounding it with battleships. No spaceship could land or leave the planet. The Trade Federation hoped that the newly elected Queen of Naboo would agree to their demands. Only the young Queen didn't give in because if Naboo surrendered to the Federation's demands many other outer rim worlds would follow within a matter of days.
Tension in the Senate grew worse. Worried that the Trade Federation's blockade might lead to open war, the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Senate asked the Jedi for help.
Only Iris didn't believe any Jedi arrived in time to save the planet for communications had been blocked. When the sun raised thousands of battle droids march across the grassy hills and plains of Naboo's landscape alongside many droids that road on STAP and tanks. All of the droids had one goal within their programmed minds which lead them toward the capitol city of the planet; Theed.
The marching droids had entering the city, with citizens being captured as the Queen still tried to fight for peace during the crisis. The Battle was over by sunrise and the elegant throne room of the Naboo palace was crowded with Trade Federation battle droids as the machines marched Queen Amidala, a young girl barely out of childhood, who walked beside, Sio Bibble who was a tall and balding man with a sharp pointed beard, Iris Eaton, a Jedi Padawan who was pretending to be a handmaiden because their Jedi Master had been killed by the Battle droids in battle, and a few of the Queen's handmaidens dressed in orange flame-colored robes are surrounded by twenty battle droids that kept Captain Panaka and four of Naboo guard at blaster point as the group walked down the narrowing hallways which lead to a large set of stairs as Nute and Rune walked alongside the group of prisoners.
"How will you explain this invasion to the Senate?" Bibble demands toward Nute Gunray.
Nute Gunray remained oddly calm, which seemed to surprise many that were being held captivate by the battle droids. Surely he knew this wouldn't end well for the Trade Federation in the end. Was Gunray desperate for the trade route that he'll invade the planet he chose to blockade? Iris wondered as she remembered having the debate with her own Master for a short time before the invasion happened. Both Jedi had come to the conclusion that Gunray would lose everything if he was defeated or captured on the peaceful planet. It was a great risk the Trade Federation was willing to take.
"The Naboo and the Federation will forge a treaty that will legitimize our occupation here. I've been assured it will be ratified by the Senate." Gunray spoke before giving a full villainess grin.
Iris rolled her brown eyes, keeping her orange hood up and Jedi lightsaber hidden underneath the robe. Her Master died risking their life to buy time for Iris and the handmaidens to make sure the Queen remained safe and hidden.
The time needed allowed Iris and the others to switch the real Queen with a handmaiden, while the real Queen was hidden among the people in orange. The Jedi Padawan was now the last line of defense for the real ruler.
The decoy Queen wore the white face paint and black and feathered gown with a headdress. She stared at the male with cold eyes. "I will not co-operate."
Iris smiled only slightly to herself. Nute Gunray clearly hadn't expected the Queen to say anything on the matter. Just sign the treaty and be done with it. The female Jedi Padawan had a feeling that Gunray was going to learn very quickly that Queen Amidala was not a simple child that would be ordered around by an invader.
The Jedi had felt the annoyed feelings of the Neimoidian. Even when the child queen was defeated and at his mercy the female never once showed an ounce of fear. Any other fourteen year old would've done everything Gunray said within delay. Only this Queen, regardless of age, held defiance
The Naboo people always chose the wisest among their people by popular acclaim. The planets monarch could elect a man or woman, even though they mostly elect a young woman, believing they possessed a form of pure, childlike wisdom that the adults lacked. Due to tradition which was created to protect their loved ones, Naboo monarchs adopted new identities-fake names that many would call; stage names, when they began to campaign for the position, changing at least their last name. Even so, some monarchs proved to be less protective of their anonymity than others. They could return to their previous identity after their term ended, or chose to retain their new name.
The King or Queen of Naboo rule for two years. Unless they were elected again for another term-making a number be four years in total of their rule. Only after the renewal is up, they can never run again for the place of King or Queen.
"Now, now, you're Highness." The Viceroy of the Trade Federation tried to patronize. "You are not going to like what we have in store for your people. In time, their suffering will persuade you to see our point of view." When the group reaches the bottom of the marble stairs, he turns his head toward the droid "Commander." An OOM-9 steps forward. "Process them."
"Yes, sir!" The Commander Droid answered and turned toward a lower rank droid. "Captain, take them to Camp Four."
"Roger. Roger." The droid spoke.
Iris took notice of the large amount of Battle Droids within the courtyard. Even as the young female walked alongside the others and taken toward a camp. The young girl tried to stay calm as she moved through the plaza.
Suddenly two Jedi and a Gungan jumped down from a balcony above the group.
A young male Jedi did a split-kick, taking down two droids with his booted feet before turning on his blue lightsaber blade. Engaging into battle against the Battle Droids.
The droid's that had been surrounding the group began to turn their attention on the two Jedi and the Gungan. Iris quickly activated her own orange blade, revealing it to the droids and cutting them down. Finally seeing a change to engage in battle.
This might be the only chance the young female had at saving the Queen from a camp. Now was time to take action. Making her deceased master proud.
The older Jedi Knight turned on a green blade and headed straight for one of the droids, slashing it into sparking wires and pieces within seconds.
Wow, Iris thought, seeing the older Jedi had worked.
"Whoo-hoo-hoo!" the Gungan shouts, watching the metal machines being cut down into nothing but spare parts. Then jumped down from the balcony to join the two male Jedi it arrived with.
Iris raised an eyebrow at the Gungan, curious as to why one would be among the Jedi. The Gungan's didn't like the people of the Naboo and here one was. The young Jedi never imagined she'll ever see one within her lifetime. Only, now she has.
We're the Gungan's here to help them?
Only the female didn't see any more of the Gungan's except for the one with the Jedi.
Oh, well. Sure much for the Naboo people and Gungan's getting along.
Iris quickly turned back to the fight and slashed another droid in half. She couldn't let her mind wonder. The female needed to stay in the battle. Protect the Queen.
The older Jedi cut another droid in-half, blue eyes watching the droid fall to pieces before turning toward another and cut one of the robot's leg, which brought the droid down. Then the Jedi turned off his green lightsaber blade and the weapon back onto his brown belt. Then lift a hand toward the two remaining battle droids and send the metal menaces flying backwards into a wall, which bend their robotic parts and twisting them from the sudden force of impact.
Iris just blinked at the Jedi Master the moment the battle ended. Wow. This guy is Wizard.
He took notice of Iris and gave a small nod of approval when the fight ended. "You are good with a lightsaber, young one."
Iris gave a small nod toward the older Jedi. "Thank you."
Then the older male Jedi turned his attention to the Queen and the people the Jedi rescued. "We should leave the streets, your Highness." It wasn't safe here.
"Who are you?" Iris asked, eyeing the two men.
"Qui-Gon Jinn," the older male answered, giving a small nod. "And my Padawan- Obi-Wan Kenobi."
That was the moment when Iris' took notice of Obi-Wan's padawan braid. He was just like her, but he still had his Master when she did not.
Captain Panaka looked toward the guards and saw the discarded blasters the battle droids once held. "Get their weapons."
Sio was getting the Queen and the handmaids up the stair case as the guards and captain took the weapons off the ground. The Jedi following closely behind the group.
The Gungan mumbled, shaking his head. "Whoa! Yousa guys bombad!"
Iris turned back to watch the Gungan. "Hey, who's the Gungan?" The female wondered, eyes staying in the creature. The Jedi seemed to have gotten to introduce the alien creature to the group.
"Oh," Obi-Wan breathed. "That's Jar Jar."
"How did you get a Gungan to join you?"
Kenobi rolled his eyes blues, he seemed annoyed. "He owe's my Master a life debt."
"Life debt." Iris breathed, shaking her head. She knew that was a thing with Wookiee's, but she didn't know they were important to Gungan's as well. "That's interesting."
It was very interesting.
Once everyone had gathered at the top of the stairs and out of sight did Qui-Gon begin to speak, "We're ambassadors for the Supreme Chancellor."
"Your negotiations seem to have failed, Ambassador," Sio Bibble observed with a small snort. If the Jedi did their job, then why was any of this happening? Clearly the two Jedi had failed in their mission.
Iris's eyes landed on Kenobi and Jinn for a moment, but chose to remain silent. Did the two really fail at the mission, or did the negations not take place?
"The negotiations never took place. That's why it's urgent that we make contact with the Republic." Qui-Gon informed the group.
This is bad, Iris thought with a grimace on her face, brown eyes wide.
Now the Jedi had to make their way to the Senate and explained to the Chancellor about what took place with the Trade Federation and how the organization invaded Naboo.
Panaka had grown paled at the news. It was impossible for anyone to send out a transmission to the Republic. "They've knocked out all our communications."
The Trade Federation took out the communications yesterday, Iris thought, flinching. They planned this invasion out.
Qui-Gon looked at the Captain as the Jedi thought about his next move. "Do you have transports?"
The Captain gave a nod. "In the main hanger." Then his pointed a black gloved finger in front of the Older Jedi Master. "This way." He said, rushing the group forward.
Qui-Gon quickly lead the group forward with Iris walking beside the Queen, Sio, and Panaka. The others followed behind them with Obi-Wan and Jar Jar watching from the back of the group. They continued to walk carefully through the Naboo alleyway, where the group crossed to other passageways and backstreets, encountering no one in sight. They moved quickly and silently throughout the city of Theed.
It would seem the Force had allowed the Jedi to have control of their own destiny once more with Panaka and his men newly armed with fallen battle Droid blasters, and the Queen being rescued it all seemed more than ready to take a chance. Another leap of fate.
It didn't take long for the group to reach their destination. A series of connected buildings dominated one end of a broad causeway, each one domed and cavernous, the central structures warded by arched entranced and low, flat-walled outbuildings that lead to a main hanger. Battle droids were station everyone, weapons held at the ready. A handful of Naboo ships were also inside the hanger, a large silver one was sleek and gleaming within the sunlight. The Battle Droids were guarding a group of pilots.
"There are too many of them," Panaka concluded after a second of looking into the hanger, keeping his back pressed against the wall, brown eyes focused on Qui-Gon Jinn.
"That wouldn't be a problem," Iris admits to Panaka, giving the male a small smile. "Have fate in our abilities, Captain."
Qui-Gon turned toward the Queen. "Your Highness, under the circumstances, I suggest you come to Coruscant with us." It was the safest way at stopping the Trade Federation's plans.
"Thank you Ambassador, but my place is with my people." The Queen said without hesitation. She felt this was where she belonged.
But everyone began to protest the Queen's choice.
"They will kill you if you stay," Jinn stated to the young Queen. Surely the female wouldn't be this foolish. The moment the Queen died the Trade Federation would rule over the planet.
"They wouldn't dare," Sio spat, a cold glare in his eyes.
Panaka nods his head, agreeing with Sio. "They need her to sign a treaty to make this invasion of theirs legal. They can't afford to kill her."
"They will kill her after she signs," Iris explained to the two males. The Trade Federation wanted the Queen to sign a treaty, which would make their invasion legal. Afterwards, Nute Gunray will end up kill the Queen and create a puppet government in the current ones place.
Iris's mission was to keep the Queen alive. That was her Jedi Master's last wish.
Qui-Gon shook his head. "There is something else behind all this, Your Highness." The Trade Federation didn't need to invade the planet and yet the organization did. Nute Gunray might be someone else's puppet. "There's no logic in the Federation's move here. My feelings tell me they will destroy you."
"Please, my lady," Iris spoke to the Queen, sadness with her own brown eyes. "Our only hope is to plead to the senate itself. Senator Palpatine will find a way to help you and the planet." The senator needs proof of the invasion and with the Queen within the senate building walls every planet will take notice of the Trade Federation's crime.
Despite Iris being young. Everyone understood she was correct.
The Queen listened. Her expression hard to read through the white face paint, "Either choice presents great danger..." she spoke in a calm and stern voice, turning her head toward a handmaiden-the real Queen of Naboo, "...to us all."
The handmaidens seemed to glance at one another for a moment, faces barely visible from underneath their orange hood coverings. All remained silent for a moment, until one moved forward and spoke; "We are brave, Your Highness."
"If you are to leave, Your Highness, it must be now." Iris encourages. Now would be their only chance to escape and make their way to the senate.
Queen Amidala straightened, brown eyes looking at the Jedi and everyone gathered around her. "Then I will plead our case to the senate."
The chose had been made. The decision was final.
The group quickly sorted out who would be coming along and who would be staying behind. A few guards would free the people from the droids and start an underground Resistance within the tunnels. While Sio would stay around and keep Nute Gunray's attention focus elsewhere for the time being.
"Be careful, Governor," Iris insisted.
"Keep Queen Amidala safe, Padawan Iris." Sio stated to the Jedi. "Make your fallen Master proud."
The woman gave a small nod. "Of course."
This was Iris's mission. Her Master's mission that the young female must finish.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan headed inside the hanger first. The Queen entered soon afterwards with Iris and Jar Jar at the woman's side and the handmaids behind them. Captain Panaka and a few guards walked among them. The Battle Droid's standing guard didn't seem to take notice of the group entering the main hanger bay's walls were made of golden stone which seemed too contrasted nicely among the dark metal fueling cables that ran up against the walls. A row of sleek N-1 starfighters sat in their docks along one wall to the right side of the hanger. At the center-the main ship the Jedi we're aiming for- was a silver J-type long-range spacecraft.
"We'll need to free those pilots," Panaka explained to the Jedi, pointing a glove finger in the capture pilot's direction.
Obi-Wan placed hand on Panaka's arm. The young Padawan didn't want the Captain to use a blaster to free the hostages. "I'll deal with that." he said before walking off to the side and ducking under a few hanger cables and vanished from view of the droids.
Qui-Gon continued to lead the rest of the group toward the ships ramp.
"Halt!" A Commander Battle Droid ordered the group, three metal fingers and hand in the arm.
Qui-Gon already knew what to say to the droid. These kind of creatures didn't have brains and were mostly mindless fools. "I'm ambassador to the Supreme Chancellor," he answered in a conversation tone, stand up straight and tall. "I'm taking these people to Coruscant."
That name didn't seem to compute with the droid. That was not their orders. "Where are you taking them?"
"To Coruscant."
"Coruscant?" The droid questioned in a buzzing tone. Its wires were sparking within his mechanical body as it tried to compute the words.
"Yes." Jinn answered in a simple nod. "Coruscant."
"Uh, that doesn't compute." The droid mumbled, turning its head away for a second. "Uh, wait." Now the droid understood what to do. It pointed a metal finger in their direction; "You're under arrest."
Iris quickly activated her lightsaber blade, cutting the droid down within a second thought. Now was the time for action.
Qui-Gon soon followed as the three Jedi slashed at the droids with their lightsabers as Obi-Wan also joined into the fight, kicking two droids down with his blue lightsaber ready for battle-taking out the droids standing guard over the pilots.
"Come on! Move!" Qui-Gon ordered the Queen, Jar Jar, Panaka, and the others, who we're already running up the ships silver ramp. More battle droids converged on the ramp. Some of them firing as they started to walk closer, so that Qui-Gon had to parry the shots in-between chopping droids in half.
Iris raised her hands and send a droid flying with the force before whipping around and blocked a blaster bolt with her orange lightsaber.
Qui-Gon blocked laser fire and sent the bolts right back at the droids.
Obi-Wan slashed the last droid in half before shouting to the pilots; "Go!" Which got the men running alongside him toward the ship.
Obi-Wan stood beside Iris on the right side of the ship and took down droids as Qui-Gon took the left side. The droids were falling into pieces of metal and crashing onto the floor in pieces, wires smoking and electric buzzing across the ground. Some of the freed pilot's forces ran out of the hanger to join the growing Naboo Resistance while other pilots up the ramp of the royal Naboo starship.
Iris continued to block blaster fire. She raised one hand out once again and pushed the droid's away, sending the robots into walls. "We need to leave."
"Let's go," Obi-Wan told Iris.
Iris gave a small nod, turning off her lightsaber blade and headed on up the ramp and shortly followed by Kenobi.
Qui-Gon looked around the hanger, turned off his lightsaber once no more Battle Droid's were in his line of vision. Then he heading up the ramp after the young Padawan's.
Now was a great time to leave.
The silver ship began to power up and royal starfighter began to fly out of the hanger bay and into the open skies of Naboo, heading toward the Trade Federation blockade.
The Jedi have done everything they could for the Queen and the people of Naboo. Giving a spark of Hope.
A spark that will burn into a flame.
For the Force had a plan.
On a desert planet a young boy dreamed about exploring the stars. A boy, whose destiny would soon shape the galaxy?
First chapter is complete. Iris has an orange lightsaber which a few Jedi do have. In Star Wars Legends, Master Plo Koon and Yaddle had them but never used them because of the rumor the user of an orange lightsaber is self-restraint against violence. Only Iris's is slightly different because it's a combination of red and yellow making her a fire warrior.
Iris's master is gone, but there will be flashbacks to explain their relationship.
I originally wrote this in 2014 and now I've editing it and reposting the story on here.
