Winry was out and about shopping late that evening, the sun was beginning to set over the city of Resembool and she knew she needed to go home soon. Edward and Alphonse had finally come back for the weekend, it was about time, after all, they don't even think to write letters while they were at Central, you'd never know if they got killed. That was Winry's first fear, but she also knew she was getting ahead of herself, they're home now, and that's all that matters... right? Winry had always wanted something more, however, maybe that was selfish, but whenever she saw Edward alive and well she felt so happy. She wondered if he felt the same about her. She would always think about this once in a while, smiling like a fool when she found him, thinking that maybe he had missed her... Yes, her. Winry was the one who had a hot temper and would cross with those around her. It wasn't out of malice though, it was because she cared. Deeply so. She just wanted him to visit more often. She sighed now, wiping away tears that were slowly falling down her cheeks. She just couldn't stop thinking about him, she barely had time at all even to wonder, but when she did and he showed up, it was certainly because he broke his arm and nothing more. The ignorant prick! Doesn't he know that she hadn't seen him for a long while now? Oh, and may I add, once he got back it wasn't to see her, but just to get something fixed! The nerve of him sometimes. Maybe I should explain my anger to him, if he knew I wanted to spend time with him maybe we would. He can be so dense sometimes, or oblivious to everything after all. I just feel so awful right now, he'll never know what this feels like, yet here I am. How is he this dumb, he's seen the truth! He knows everything about everything right? Then how is he so dumb! Then she paused to think about it. Maybe it was just not on his mind... It made sense, I guess he just never had the time to think about it. When his life is in danger all the time, he has to think about how to stop Father and the Homunculi A lot. I suppose he doesn't have any time for romance. Maybe I'm being too harsh on him for not realizing it. It's not my business what he does with his life so I shouldn't act like it. At that point, Ling had decided to speak up finally. Tired of her sitting there moping silently.
"Hey so uh you want anything to drink?" Ling asked.
"Oh uh, sorry. I forgot I was sitting here. I was just thinking." Winry apologizingly said.
"No no, it's fine. Just wondering." Ling was a Ninja Prince who was born in Xing. Their culture was very different from Resembools. Xing was all about Chi, the soul energy in one's body. They used Chi from within and use it to manipulate things around them, Trying to keep the flow straight and secure. Whereas Resembool was completely different and not at all what he was used to. They were all about science and manipulating matter. It's funny how these alchemists don't realize they're changing the Chi into a solid, liquid, or gas. And that was all. But there was something about it that just kept tempting him to come back. At least twice a month he would travel back for various reasons. The reason for this was the nightlife of Resembool. He'd bring Rice from Xing of course. He couldn't live without it. They have it in the royal kitchen these days. It was so much better than their local cooking, high quality, and hand blended with plenty of good spices.
"Say, have you seen Edward anywhere? He's usually with you." Ling asked as he scarfed down his food with a spoon that seemed to be designed for decorative purposes.
"Where did you get that spoon from?" Winry asked.
"This is a traditionally made spoon from Xing. " Ling said.
"That's awesome, uh. Ed is just at the house, why?" Winry asked giving him the look.
"I just wanted to mess with him a bit," Ling smirked, Winry glared. "Nothing painful. Just harmless fun."
"It better be!" Winry glared. Ling laughed.
"Why, you like him or something?" Ling chuckled as her face went red. "Look, he's just easy to mess with is all." Ling smiled at the blonde who was red in the face at the moment.
"Am I that obvious?" Winry shrieked. Ling laughed, typical Winry.
"Yeah, you are," Ling smirked.
"Do you think he knows?" Winry asked.
"He probably has a suspicion but doesn't think about girls that much. Also, you're childhood friends, right? He probably thinks you're just being a girl. Just don't be weird, be honest with him." Ling said, his advice was speaking to her. But there was one problem.
"How will I know how he feels, even if I ask about even the most trivial of things he doesn't answer." Winry sighed.
"He probably just doesn't want to worry you," Ling suggested.
"Maybe..." Winry sighed somberly.
"Hey, I got an idea. How about this!" Ling held out a small vile with a glass container shaped like a heart.
"What is that?" Winry asked, watching him suspiciously. "If you're considering drugging him, I'm not doing that!"
"No no, it's a love potion." Ling laughed joyfully.
"Those don't exist." Winry snipped.
"Yes it does, and it came from Xing. Try it out." Winry glared at him and sighed.
"I don't want to take away his control," Winry replied.
"It won't. All it does is enhance the feelings, that's all." Ling laughed. Winry glared spiritually and took it.
"This had better be good!" Winry grabbed it and put it in her bag.
"Just make sure you don't give him too much. A few drops in his drink is enough." Ling smiled.
"Thanks for the tips, bye." Winry walked away and strolled off to the house.
