(Hello, welcome to another story I've decided to create! I hope you enjoy this!)
Discovering Something Phenomenal
Brendan and May were once exploring a cave inside the Hoenn Region. Deep inside, they began to hear a mysterious sound. Curious, they went towards it and discovered a very rare and special Pokemon. A Jirachi was having a nap deep within the cavern, unaware of the two humans that caught sight of it. Seeing that the notes on its head were empty, Brendan and May tried to contain their excitement at what they found. Brendan took out his trusty pen of his and snuck closely towards the Jirachi, making sure to not accidentally give it a rude awakening. May followed closely, and whispered to Brendan "What are you going to say for your wish?"
"Hmmm... I think I want to be a merman..." Brendan states.
"R-really?" May gulped, putting her mouth on her hand. "I... I think I want that to be my wish too, heh..."
"Awesome." Brendan replies as he carefully writes down the note on Jirachi's head.
"Dear Jirachi, my name is Brendan Yamamizu, who lives in Littleroot Town of the Hoenn Region. I wish for me and my girlfriend May Birch of the same Littleroot Town I live in to be merfolk. I wish to have a Shiny Milotic Tail, and I wish May could have a-"
"What do you want?" Brendan asks May.
"I'd love to be a Milotic just like you. Not a shiny one, though..."
"Okay." Brendan answers, writing down what May wants on Jirachi's note. "Should we have some themed clothing too?"
"Of course... It would be pretty cool to look like a Milotic too."
"Alright... Anyways... I wish May could have a Milotic mermaid tail just like me, and please give us some mermaid-themed clothes to wear! If you do happen to wake up soon, We'll give you a gift of berries from us! Sincerely, Brendan."
"That's a great message..." May tells Brendan, before changing her tone to slight confusion. "You want to give this Jirachi a gift?"
"Yeah, might as well do something for our discovery, right?" Brendan tells May, as he unpacks his bag to take out some Oran, Pecha, and Cheri Berries to give the Jirachi a nice feast whenever it wakes up, placing the berries down next to it.
"You know... I heard Jirachi sleeps for a Millennia..." May mentions in a sad tone, before eventually saying in a more hopeful voice "...However, I heard you can wake it up faster by singing a song to it."
Brendan gets an idea as he smirks. "Perhaps we can try to sing it awake, you and I. Plus, it'll help with our siren skills."
May's eyes lighten up listening to what Brendan suggested. She and Brendan have been mermaiding for their Pokemon Contests for a while now. It's time to take these skills to the test! After all, Jirachi will only awaken from certain singing voices. May runs up to Jirachi and ducks next to Brendan, looking nice at Jirachi. After clearing her voice, May asks Brendan "What song should we sing?"
"I think I know the perfect one…"
Brendan begins to sing a song that the two of them composed together, one they called 'A Feebas's Wish'. Brendan wrote the lyrics to be about a Feebas who wants to be as beautiful as all of the coral and other fish Pokemon out in the sea, only to be humiliated and discriminated against after its fruitless attempts.
"There was once a depressed Feebas
Who wanted to be as pretty as the Corsolas and Goldeen around her
Despite dressing up and trying her best
Her life was still full of discrimination and harass
Everybody simply thought she was a monster
To say the least, it put her mind to the test"
May daydreams of Brendan as a merman as she listens to his voice. Though, she finally decides to break from her visions and continues with the next verse of the song.
"But, one sunny day
She met a curious human
Who, just like her, was lonely and sad
And once they have seen each other at the bay
Their hopes and dreams were filled up again
Now together, the two were glad"
Brendan and May now sing together as Jirachi twitches a little.
"They helped each other to whatever got in their way
And as a result, the Human made the Feebas more beautiful
For every contest they did, the two worked like magic
They were the most popular out there, as they say
But one morning, the Feebas discovered that she was more colorful
And now, she lives a happy life as a Milotic"
As Brendan and May sing their story, Jirachi's eyes begin to slowly open. Seeing this, Brendan and May immediately run off as they finish their song, just as Jirachi awakens due to their voices. Seeing the berries the two trainers left, and the written note on its head, Jirachi decides to attempt the wish that the two trainers desire…
The next day, Brendan and May were in their respective houses, having a nice sleep after a long day of exploring.
Brendan's Transformation
As for Brendan, he is sleeping happily in his bedroom, dreaming about himself and May on a roller coaster, and seeing all of the strange stuff during the ride, including Krabbies, colorful circles, a pizzeria, and more odd things. But who cares, it's just a dream, right? The ride eventually got very crazy, however, as the two lovers held on for dear life as the course began to twist and turn at what seemed to be impossible angles. It all ends with them being launched violently from the railings of the course. The two trainers scream for their lives as the cart beeps like a clock. Wait, beeping like a clock? Brendan noticed the cart making this sound right before the two trainers landed right on the ground. Of course, just as they crashed, Brendan woke up in a panic. "A-Aaah!" Brendan screamed. "Oh… It's just a nightmare, heh…"
Brendan turns off his alarm as he heaves with ease, knowing that ride was just a simple figment of his imagination. Though, Brendan's expression changes to worry after noticing that his neck felt like it had holes inside of them. Of course, Brendan feels his neck to discover silts on them! His pupils narrow in size but inside, Brendan has enthusiasm in his gut, unveiling his body from his blankets and seeing the yellow Milotic Tail beneath. "A-ah!" Brendan yelped, before saying a much happier "Ah!"
"Oh my gosh, that wish came true!" Brendan said happily, lifting his new tail in the air, admiring it. "This is awesome…"
Brendan feels his neck again, and figures that they are just gills that help him breathe underwater. A realization pops up in Brendan's head, however, and he says to himself "Wait… I need to go to the ocean to use this tail. May and I should have slept in the tent near a beach… I guess I'll just have to crawl my way there…"
Brendan, now focusing on waking up and meeting up with May, rolls onto his belly and looks down on the ground, knowing that his first obstacle is to get out of his bed. It seems pretty simple, however, as Brendan just slowly and carefully leaned his upper body down onto the ground and dragged the rest of it along. Now, figuring out that he can scoot himself around on land using his arms, Brendan aims himself towards the door, his next challenge to deal with without legs. After a long time of thinking about standing right below the doorknob, Brendan gets the idea of climbing the wall to try to make himself taller to touch the door handle. After doing so, Brendan notices that he looks like he's standing on his knees when he had legs. This was more than enough height for him to open the door. As he turned the knob though, Brendan loses his balance. "Whoa Whoa Whoa!" Brendan shuddered as he lands on the ground, making a large splat sound.
Brendan sees that at the very least he has opened the door and has gotten through, though he can hear his mom in the distance say "What was that?"
Brendan stutters a bit, realizing that he got his mother's attention. He looks around, trying to find anything to hide his tail, but to no avail. Brendan's Mom walks up to him and looks down. "Brendan?!" His Mom says in surprise. "Did you get another mermaid tail?"
"Erm… Well…" Brendan shivered as he blushed in embarrassment. "That would be a yes and no. You see… May and I were exploring yesterday, and discovered this Jirachi! We decided to make a wish and well… This is the result of that wish."
Brendan's Mother's eyes widen, looking at Brendan flip his tail up, making its scales sparkle in the light thanks to it being a Shiny Milotic Tail. "What?! You've wished yourself to become a merman?!" Brendan's Mother chastised him. "I… I guess I'm not surprised, you've been mermaiding a lot lately…"
"Y-yeah…" Brendan squeaked. "It made me popular in Pokemon Contests, believe it or not!"
"Well, as long as you are happy, I guess…" Brendan's Mom scuffed. "I probably need to ask your father what he thinks of this…"
"He'd probably be very supportive of it, as usual."
"But this change of yours is permanent! I think?"
"That is true…" Brendan muttered.
"A-anyways, just don't strain yourself too much. Did May get turned too?"
"Yes."
"Well, her family is going to have to deal with that too then… I hope you don't regret this later on!"
"Trust me Ma, I won't." Brendan says with a smile.
"I'll go ahead and watch some TV while you go do whatever with that new tail, Okay?"
Brendan nods as his Mom goes down the stairs and back to her couch to watch a soap opera involving a Gallade and a Gardevoir. Brendan was now just left by himself, having a thankful feeling that his mother wasn't as angry as she was towards him. Now, it was just a simple crawl down the stairs to the door to see what was happening with May. Of course, Brendan had to be a bit cautious with crawling down the stairs and the second door was just as troublesome as the first, and this time Brendan had to pull on the door, not push. Once he tried to draw on the door, Brendan fell right on his back. "Ah!" Brendan yelped once he hit the ground.
"Do you need any help?" Brendan's Mom asked him.
"Uhh, no! I might need help closing the door though…"
"Okay…"
May's Transformation
As for May, she was having a nice sleep after a long day of exploring. May was having a wonderful dream about flying in the sky and seeing a bunch of random objects, including Walrein, pastries, and stars. She was with her boyfriend Brendan while going through all of those strange oddities up in the clouds. It was an amazing view for May, seeing all of these wonders and interests around her, however, of course, her alarm had to interrupt things by startling her awake with that iconic beeping sound. May's artificial instinct of slamming the "OFF" button on her clock immediately kicks in. "Ugh… I was having such a great drea-" May complains, before suddenly stopping, realizing that she felt… different.
May looks at the end of her bed and sees what looks like to be four blue ovals with a red spot on each of them. Her anger quickly turns into excitement as she uncovers herself from her sheets to reveal her brand new Milotic mermaid tail and appropriately themed bra. Unable to contain herself, May exclaims "Oh my gosh!" May begins to hop around in her bed happily. "Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh! It worked! The wish turned me into a mermaid!"
May, eccentric with what has happened to her, decides to hop out of her bed. It hurt a little, but May wasn't sure how else she was getting down. Unbeknownst to May, however, was that her father heard her squeals of joy and was heading to her room to see what happened. Professor Birch gently opens May's door slightly to quietly ask "May, what's- Oh my Arceus?!"
Birch opens May's door more to fully see what happened to May "Eeek!" May screams in terror, as the two stare at each other for a moment.
As expected, Professor Birch is in shock at seeing May in her current fishy condition. Birch shakes himself from his surprise and clears his throat, filling up the lack of noise in the room after a few seconds. "May, what is going on? What is that Mermaid tail you have?" Professor Birch questions her daughter, trying to grasp whatever information he can use to figure out her sudden change of looks.
"Uhm…" May stammers, her face being as red as the spots on her Milotic tail. "Uh… I-I might have encountered a Jirachi, and Brendan and I decided to wish ourselves to be mermaids…"
"A Jirachi…?" Professor Birch says, raising an eyebrow. "You mean you found one and cast out a wish to become a mermaid?"
"Y-yes…" May said. "And this tail is real too, to my knowledge…"
May flips her tail up to show her dad how real it is. Professor Birch, a bit unsure of what to do, lets out a long sigh and mutters "Well, I guess I'll have to write this down in my research notes. I didn't even know such a thing was possible."
"If you want, I can do some research on myself to learn more about this whole mermaid thing." May responds, knowing well that her father will want to learn more about what she and Brendan did.
Professor Birch just smiles at his daughter's determination. "Well, I should ask you something else… Are you able to turn back into a human?"
"To my knowledge, no…" May answers with a bit of a quiver in her voice. "Not that I'm mad about that, of course…"
Birch looks a bit sad from that answer. "Well… I hope you don't regret your wish… If you can handle it, I guess the both of us can be happy about that."
Birch straightens out the papers in his hands. "A-anyways… I guess I'll let you tell your mom about the news… I'll go ahead and work at the lab as usual and process what I've just seen…"
"Heh… Of course, Pa!" May bubbled. "I'll meet up with Brendan to see if they wish worked for him! I dunno if Ma is up, so make sure to tell her about my tail too!"
"Uhm…" Professor Birch fretted, unsure how to describe this to his wife. "Okay! Make sure to give her some of your details, though…"
"Of course!" May replies. "I'll see you later!"
"Y-yes, see you May…" Birch ended, as he turned off and walked away, towards the Pokemon Lab south of Littleroot Town.
May bursts a sigh of relief from her father's milder answer than she was expecting. Now with him out of the way, May just had to crawl her way to Brendan, to see if the wish has worked on him as well. She'll likely have to deal with Ma too if she's up, but after meeting up with her Dad she's pretty confident she can tell her the news too! However, May's priorities were on Brendan, so she decided to crawl out of her house. Everything was straightforward until she encountered the stairs, which is diagonal instead. May, remembering a funny video she watched on her PokeNav Plus, decided to solve this issue by sliding down the stairs like a baby. "Weeeeee~!" May crowed.
Landing on the floor was a bit painful for her, but at least May had a lot of fun! Though, as she heads to the outdoors, lifting herself and attempting to open her home's front door, a question that her dad asked her rushed through her head all of a sudden. "Do I regret this wish?" May thinks out loud, though in a murmur, before simply tossing away the thought by saying. "Nah… Not right now, at least…"
The Two New Milotics In Town
May lands right on the patio of her front door, ready to wiggle her way to Brendan. Coincidentally for both of them, however, Brendan pops out of his house just a few moments later. The two take a look at each other, and both blush at their appearances. The two merfolk drag themselves to the center of Littleroot Town. "I see the wish worked on you…" Brendan says while taking a good look at May.
"Heh, yeah!" May responds as her cheeks burn with color. "It's cool, isn't it?"
"It is…" Brendan adds as he looks back and flips his yellow tail up.
After a moment of the two Half-Milotics staring each other into their gray, cloud-like eyes, May interrupts the silence by questioning "Uhm… What exactly will we do with this now?"
"Well, I'd think we'd find a body of water to swim around in. But, I think we should probably get a bit used to these tails at first…" Brendan responded. "The ocean is quite a bit far from Littleroot Town, after all!"
"Awwww, but you know that we're a couple of fish out of water!" May jokingly states. "We're gonna dry up and die here~!"
May begins to goofily flop around like the fish girl she is, opening and closing her mouth causing her gills to mimic it. Of course, they don't work on the land. Brendan chuckles at May's appearance and repeats her actions, flailing all over just like her "Wah, help us! We can't breathe! We need water!"
Brendan shakes his way toward May, eventually landing on top of her and giving her a big kiss on her lips. The two mermaids stop their tottering and embrace one another for a few seconds. Once Brendan and May's lips let go of each other the two take yet another look into their eyes. "You're really hot by the way…" Brendan purred.
"You too…" May coos back. "More scorching than a Magcargo."
Both Brendan and May share a laugh. "Now…" Brendan started. "Let's head to your house and plan things out on what are we going to do with our new tails…"
"Okay!" May replies. "I heard a new episode of 'The Whiscash Show' is airing today."
"Awesome!" Brendan chirped. "I wonder who will be talking today?"
"Who knows…" May vacillated as she rotated her and Brendan 90 degrees and let go of him, starting to head back to her house, as Brendan follows along.
A few hours later after struggling back into May's house and spending some time together, the two mermaids sit in front of the TV as they begin to think of a plan. "I think I know what to do for us to live in the water, May." Brendan begins to explain to May.
"Hm?" May murmurs, tilting her head to the left.
"How about we live in the big ponds at Petalburg City? There's one right next to Dad's gym! We'd still be close to our home and family, plus Wally can see us in our new forms more easily!"
May nods to Brendan's proposal. "Okay, but how are we going to eat?"
Brendan puts his hand on his chin, thinking for a moment. "We could probably have my Dad feed us when he comes to and leaves work…"
"And how will we use the restroom? The pond will eventually turn dirty."
"Just don't go in the pond. My plan isn't the most perfect, I guess… And we'll need help to bring our stuff over there too…"
May gives Brendan a hopeful grin. "Hey, it's a really good idea! Better than leaving everything behind and surviving in the ocean."
"True… Ah, who am I kidding? We have our Pokemon by our side! They can do a good portion of the heavy lifting for us…"
"Yeah."
May's mother comes down the stairs drinking a cup of coffee. She stops witnessing Brendan and May in their tails. "Oh, hey Mom!" May greets her as she and Brendan wave and flap their tails up and down.
Naturally, May's Mom blinks for a few seconds, trying to piece together what she's looking at. Looking down at her coffee, she mutters to herself "Did I put something in my Coffee?"
May's Mom turns around and goes back upstairs as May tries to explain "Well, actually, we- W-wait, come back-!"
"I guess she thinks we're not real mermaids…"
May turns back to Brendan. "Yeah. Oh hey, the new Episode is on!"
"Oh, yeah!"
The two mermaids watch the new Whiscash Show episode, featuring somebody very, very interesting. The girl featured has some of the wildest hair Brendan and May have ever seen, tied into brown floating pigtails. Her red shirt, overalls, white stockings, and red shoes are boring compared to… are those shiny Umbreon ears? And a tail? I guess Brendan and May aren't the only half-Pokemon in this world. As the girl shows off her Umbreon tail and wags it around, May sputters "Wow! Is that lady an Umbreon girl?"
"I suppose…" Brendan comments. "You know… She looks familiar…"
"I think she is the Indigo League champion's girlfriend… I heard she had a boyfriend too…"
"Huh, that's odd. I'm not discriminating against anything, of course."
The show goes on as the Umbreon Girl explains how she and her two partners got their ears. It was from the blessing of a Celebi? I guess anything can happen around the world of Pokemon, especially since Brendan and May did the same thing as them. Once the episode features more very generic celebrities, May turns off the TV as the credits roll. "Well, that was interesting…"
"That was a weak episode, other than that Umbreon Girl, of course. Usually, the show contains the humor of all of those celebrities combined, but I guess they had a bad pick today."
"Let's not fret much, Brendan!" May says in a lighter tone. "We have a pond to move towards! Let me get some of my Pokemon to help."
"Heh, of course… I should have brought my Pokemon over…"
"We'll just pick them up first." May reassures as she gets off the couch, shifting her way back towards the stairs. "I guess I'll just have to climb these…"
May slowly but surely clambers up the stairs, getting a fair bit of exercise because of it. As she crawls toward her room, she can hear her Mom talking to her Dad on the phone about her recent transformation. She pauses for a moment to listen to what's going on. "So what you're saying what I saw wasn't from my mind?" May's Mother asks Birch.
"Yeah, it's really strange, isn't it? Brendan was turned too, and I assumed you've seen him as well?"
"Yes. Those two are crazy with their contests, and their love of mermaids as of recent."
May feels a bit disgruntled by her mother's comment. "True, but, hey, I know May did it because she thought she was supposed to be a mermaid. I can't be mad about that. Plus, it might help me with some of the voids in my Ocean Habitats. May's always good with helping me in my studies."
"True…"
May's expression lights up more. "I mean, she looks great in that form! I just hope it won't inconvenience her later down the line…"
"Yeah, but knowing May and Brendan, they are super determined. It might be the reason why they were able to deal with Team Magma and Team Aqua."
"And become the champions of the region, too. I guess this is her big break, I suppose. I'd love to live the simple life of a mermaid too!"
May can hear Birch laugh at that sentence. "Maybe, though I think we can only handle one mermaid in the family."
"I know, I know! I gotta take care of Max anyway."
Max… Max! May thought to herself.
She hasn't realized that he hasn't appeared in the house yet. Was he attempting to give her another scare like he usually does? I guess she should try and collect her Pokeballs as soon as she can. Meanwhile, Brendan was roaming around the living room, trying to see what to do in the meantime. "Hmm…"
Unknown to the shiny Milotic merman, a second person was in the room watching him, curious about what thing he's been looking at. Did May and her boyfriend buy themselves a realistic mermaid tail, or did they just become actual merfolk? I think it's time for me to expose their little secret to me!
While Brendan was looking at the games and movies that he and May used to watch when they first met one another and when they first became lovers, the boy in the corner that Brendan was unaware of began to prepare his attack. Brendan's nostalgia-filled thoughts suddenly shattered from Max popping out from behind a chair and giving him a startling screech. Caught off-guard, Brendan yelped back and leaped a bit away from the boy. "Hahaha, I got you good, fish boy!" Max goaded at the now apoplectic Brendan.
"M-Max…" Brendan greeted in a livid but mostly abashed tone.
"I see we've got ourselves a new pet fish here!" Max gloats foolishly. "Not only that, my sister gives me TWO pet fishes!"
"Uhm… Y-yes, I guess?" Brendan croaked.
Max leans to the right to get a good look at Brendan and his new fins, seeing each of his scales turn from red to yellow, to red and back. "Hmmm! They certainly weren't wrong about a Milotic's tail changing color depending on the viewing angle!"
"Is that so?" Brendan questions Max. "I'm surprised I haven't noticed that yet…"
"Anyways… What's that whole mermaid deal with you and May?" Max queried Brendan.
"Well, basically, we encountered a Jirachi, wrote down a wish, and woke it up with a song…"
"Oh, so you WISHED yourself to be a merman? It isn't common for a Jirachi to wake up, and you and May waking him up with a song must mean you have some good voices!"
"Well, thank you!" Brendan gushed. "You've seen our contests, so I'm guessing you already know how we sing…"
"Of course! I would never miss one of Sis's shows! You and she are both supreme at the whole contest thing! Is that the reason why you decided to get rid of your legs?"
"Yeah, and also I just look fabulous as a Merman! It's almost like I should have been one from the get-go!"
Max nods, then looks at the nearby stairs. "I think I'm gonna talk to May about her being a fish too!"
Just when Max says that he was going to meet up with May, she falls right down the stairs with her fanny pack, giggling because of how fun going down them is.
"May, are you okay?!" Brendan shudders.
"Yeah, I'm fine! I just found a fun way to go down these stairs quickly is all. Oh, hey Max. What do you think of my new tail here?"
"It's great! It looks like the ones you guys wore in those contests you two do, only real!"
"We'll probably live at a pond near Norman's Gym from now on if that's fine with you."
"Okay, I guess. Just don't let the Wingulls eat you two!" Max teases.
May couldn't help but go pfft at Max's joke. She can imagine her and Brendan panicking on a boardwalk as a few Wingulls peck at their skin and scales. "We'll make sure to watch out for them."
"Alright, I'll be sure to fish you two up next time, ahahaha!" Max finished as he walked up to the second floor of May's house.
"Ah, Max, you gotta love him sometimes…" May murmurs. "Anyhow, let's go out! There's a pond out in Petalburg waiting for us!"
The Trip to Petalburg Pond
Both Brendan and May exit the house so they can send out their Pokemon. May pulls out her Swampert and lets it out of its ball, making it roar happily now that it's out of its confinement. It looks down at its trainer and her boyfriend, looking very surprised at their new looks. "What do you think of this new tail, Swampy?" May says as she shows her tail off to him.
"Swamp!" Swampert cackled.
"Heh, I see you like Brendan's appearance too! Here, let me get Blaze out as well…"
May follows along with what she just said, sending out her Blaziken to witness her and Brendan's new forms. Just like Swampy initially, Blaze was shocked to see May's new appearance. "Blaziken?!"
"Yes, we are real merfolk now." Brendan explains to Blaze. "Pretty neat, huh?"
Blaze nods yes. "Uhm, we're gonna need a bit of help retrieving Brendan's bag from his room." May asks Blaze.
"Blaziken! Blaziken, Blaziken."
"Okay, thanks for the help, Blaze!"
Blaziken leaves the two merfolk and Swampy to themselves for a moment. May turns her attention to Swampy instead. "Hey Swampy, we're planning to move to a pond in Petalburg City to help make living with these tails more efficient. We're going to need a bit of help with going there. Maybe you can give us a ride!"
Swampy nods happily. Suddenly, Blaze comes out with Brendan's Bag in one hand, and his Sceptile's Pokeball in the other. "Thanks a lot, Blaze! Nice to see that you're anxious to bring out Ty too!"
Blaze tosses out Ty's ball to break him out of it. Ty, while initially confused about his surroundings, realizes that his two best friends were around him, with Brendan and May watching in their usual costumes! Oh wait, those aren't costumes. Ty seems perplexed but happy to see his trainer happy. Blazes give back Brendan's Bag and Ty's Pokeball as he says "Great to see you again, old pal! Just wanted to show you my cool new Milotic tail! It's real this time, by the way!"
Ty looks very surprised about their new looks, pointing right at their tails. "Yeah, it's pretty cool, right?" Brendan tells Ty.
Ty thinks for a moment, before suddenly pointing to his mouth and turning his hand into a fist, sooner or later throwing it out of his mouth, then repeating his actions. "Ty, are you trying to ask us something?" Brendan questions Ty as he tilts his head to the side, trying to understand his unorthodox way of telling… Something.
Ty nods, then placed his two arms together with his hands out, pretending to shoot something out of them. "Oh, are you trying to ask us if we can use powers?" Brendan asks Ty.
Ty says yes by wobbling his head up and down. "Well, we are technically half-Milotic, so I don't see why not we can use moves…"
Brendan and May both turn around and focus on one another, holding their hands out. All of a sudden, they squirt water out of their hands at each other! Both of them shout a bit and fall over in reaction to getting all of the water in their faces. After trying to rub the salt out of his eyes, Brendan wheezes "Well that answers that question. Now I'm curious…"
Brendan reaches into his bag to pull out a Pokedex to check his and May's moves and Level. "Let's see here… Both of us are Level 18?"
"Wow, that's higher than I thought. And our moves are Flail, Water Gun, Disarming Voice, and Attract…"
"Attract, eh?" Brendan intoned curiously, taking a look at May. "Let's see if it works…"
Brendan winks at May as he flexes one of his arms. Hearts come out of him and sink into May, indicating that the move worked on her. "Ehehehehe… Brendan…" May blushes, as she decides to use the same move on him, by winking and flexing back to him.
The two mermaids, now infatuated with one another, blow kisses and giggle with heart-shaped irises. Ty clears his throat to interrupt the two Milotics. "Oh, right! Let's go to the pond!"
Brendan and May climb on top of Swampy, who grunts a bit from the weight of their bodies. Fortunately, he can carry both of them, albeit slowly. Ty and Blaze, of course, follow alongside them, in case any wild Pokemon jumps out at them, Even though Brendan and May might be more than capable of fighting the wild Pokemon here. For the two Milotics, it was really interesting to see the world around them as they were carried around Route 101. Maybe it's because they were so used to flying, and haven't walked around Route 101 in a long time, but it could also be the ride they are currently on. The two sea spirits simply smile at each other as they bask in the sunlight. As the two Milotics enter Oldale Town, they both notice all of the strange and weird looks of the people living here seeing them just riding on top of a Swampert. "Say, aren't those the two people I see during Pokemon Contests?" An old woman says to her husband.
"I guess." Her husband comments. "They dress up as mermaids a lot. I guess it's a normal thing for them to do it in public like this."
May did feel a bit of shame and deviousness listening to that couple. On one hand, it is quite awkward to be the center of attention in the town, but on the other, it's funny knowing that other people don't even realize Brendan and May are actual real-life merfolk. The more confident Brendan, however, was just simply waving and saying hi to everybody he sees, enjoying the nice summer heat and all of the faces surrounding him. It wasn't long until they left Oldale Town and entered Route 102. Swampy stops for a moment looking at the small lake to his right. "Uhm, that's not the pond. We still have a bit to go to Petalburg!"
Swampy turns back and continues his path. "Hey, I know it's hard for you to hold us up. Don't worry though, we're at the final stretch!"
Swampy nods and speeds up in a burst of determination. In a small patch of boredom, Brendan begins to sing another song he and May created. This time, it's about a curious girl meeting up with a magical creature, as they introduce her to its world. Some of the surrounding trainers listen to them sing as they battle each other on Route 102. All of a sudden, a Lotad begins to follow the small group of people and Pokemon. Blaze turns to see it as it shyly waves and murmurs "Lotad."
"She stared into the abyss
And something came out
She said to herself what is this
It wasn't something she's seen, no doubt"
More Pokemon began to follow Brendan and May, hypnotized by their loud voices and lyrics. They grew in size as the two merfolk went deeper into Route 102. Unfortunately for them, the route ends as quickly as Brendan and May's song have started. "And they lived happily ever after!" Brendan and May both sing at the same time, suddenly noticing all of the wild Pokemon clapping at the entrance of Petalburg City.
"I guess we got ourselves an audience…" May chortled. "Sorry, but this pond can only fit the two of us…"
All of the Pokemon nod and head back into the Route. Swampy settles Brendan and May into the lake next to Petalburg Gym as it huffs in tiredness. Ty and Blaze give him high fives as May cheers "You did a good job, Swampy! Here is a reward for you…"
May takes her fanny pack and pulls out a Lum Berry, a Chesto Berry, and a Magost Berry. Swampy happily takes these berries and gobbles them down before lying down inside of the pond for a well-deserved nap. Feeling the water surrounding Brendan made him happier. This is the place he's supposed to be. "Hey Ty, make sure to tell Dad about us living here, kay?" Brendan asks Ty.
"Tile!" Ty called as he salutes, running off to the Petalburg Gym.
Blaze sits down next to the pond as he looks around the city. Brendan takes a full-on dip into the pond, with May following him along. Both of them could feel their mouths and necks contracting as if they were drinking water constantly. What they couldn't feel, however, was the tightness of their lungs and cheeks that pop up after a few seconds of being underwater. Their brand new gills were giving them oxygen in the depths! "Wow, it's amazing to be down here without having to hold your breath or use goggles!" May exulted, suddenly realizing she can talk as well. "And we can talk under here too! Nice!"
"Yeah… Let's see how fast this tail is…"
Brendan swims from one end of the pond to the other, noticing how so much faster he is than the previous times he swam in this pond with his legs. Heck, he's even faster than his legs with a monofin! Not to mention how graciously he can swim around, wiggling up and down like a wave. "I'm so fast! This is great!" Brendan praised himself.
"It's great to be under here. Lemme see if I'm fast too!" May replies as she zips around the pond.
The two mermaids go deeper into the pond. It appears to be about 6 meters tall, about three times the height of Brendan and May. Who knew this pond was so deep? The two mers can see all of the Magikarp, Goldeen, and Corpfish surrounding them. "Heh, there's a lot of new friends here." Brendan mentioned. "Is that Corpfish shiny…?"
"Swamp, Swamp!" Swampy shouted, having his hand back and forth.
"What's wrong, Swampy?"
Brendan and May both look up at the surface. There appear to be two shadows, one that looks like Ty, and one that looks like a human. "Oh, Dad! He's here!" Brendan sputtered, as he swam up.
Brendan swims up a bit too quickly, however, popping out of the water, making Norman jump a bit. "Whoa!" Norman squeaks.
"Hey, Dad!" Brendan says, pulling himself out of the water to show his tail to Norman.
"Oh, hey Bren- What's this?"
"I've turned myself into a merman! Thanks to a Jirachi, of course…"
Norman hesitates for a moment. "Well, I see you're liking it a whole lot."
"Yeah, I do."
"Well, if you're happy with being a merman, then I can't complain much! Not like I'll still love you whatever you look like, of course…"
"Daww, Dad…" Brendan blushes. "May and I picked this pond so we can stay close to family."
"May, you say?" Norman queried.
"Yeah! Here, let me get her." Brendan says as he dives back into the water for a moment.
Norman thinks to himself about Brendan being a merman. He's been doing it a lot, I guess he just wanted a full-on upgrade. Brendan comes back to the surface with May. "Hey, Norman!" May greeted him. "I'm a mermaid too!"
"I see! It's great to see you two here next to the gym, hopefully, I'll be able to see you more, Brendan. I'm probably going to have to help you with eating unless you want to eat wild fish…"
"Erm, yes, we will need that. I apologize…" Brendan mentions with a slight blush on his cheeks.
"Luckily, Vigoroth should be able to help you two bring dinner over, assuming he doesn't eat it up, of course…"
"That's a wonderful idea!" May chirped. "Plus, it'll give it some energy to use up. I heard Vigoroths have to use a ton of it!"
"Yep! Well, it's settled! And if you two need to travel by chance, then I'm sure I or your Pokemon will be able to manage. I'll also see what Vigoroth thinks of that food delivery idea. I'll be at the Gym, as usual. I'll see you later, Brendan!"
"See you, Dad! Thanks for all of the help" Brendan said as he waved at his Dad as he left them at the pond.
Norman walks back to the gym but runs into a familiar person, Wally. He looks up at the Gym Leader and inquired him "Uhm… What's that thing over there?"
"Oh? Them? That's my merboy and his girlfriend, May!"
"Wait, is that so?! Wally marvels as he leans to get a better look at the two Milotics.
Out of curiosity, Wally walks up to the pond with Brendan and May in it. Norman just heads back to his gym. Wally stays silent for a moment, staring at the two merfolk with two red spots on his face. "Uhm, hello Brendan and May!" Wally murmured to them. "Are you… Milotics?"
"We sure are, Wally!" May answered.
"Oh… Does that mean… You can use moves?"
"You bet!" May said as she pointed her finger upwards and shot some water in the sky.
"Huh… Water Gun… That's interesting…"
"It is!" Brendan beamed. "You seem to be enamored by us…"
"What?!" Wally shrieked "No, not at all! ''It's a hot day out is all."
"True." May points out.
"You know… I wonder if…" Wally asks as he drives his hand towards his purse, before forcefully pulling it back. "...Nah, never mind."
"Um… Okay?" Brendan replies, a bit confused about what Wally is doing.
After a few moments of awkward silence, Wally rushedly spits out "Well, I'm gonna go back home. I'll see you two later, bye!" Before speed walking away from the two sea spirits, leaving them by themselves.
Brendan and May simply turn toward one another. "Well, I guess our lives will be like this from now on…" May says. "We probably should have gotten more stuff…"
"Don't worry about it much, May! We'll focus on getting some more fun things later! Let's just go and settle down first off…"
And so, Brendan and May both lived a peaceful life at the pond near Petalburg Gym. Norman's Vigoroth has been able to nourish them with dinners cooked by Brendan's Mom. Professor Birch has been researching the two, to figure out and learn the new species their wish generated, with Max appearing to mess with them sometimes. Wally has been making drawings of Brendan and May, clearly falling in love with the two. Too bad that they are dating each other. The residents of Petalburg are enjoying their presence, as well as the songs Brendan and May both sing. Brendan and May's contest have been hitting records too, now with their 100% more realistic Milotic tails! After a good month, Brendan and May are now very used to their tails as well as the people surrounding their lives. They even got some fun and useful things to use and do at the lake! One evening, the two mers stare at each other after dinner. "Hey, Brendan…" May begins to ask him. "This question of mine has invaded my mind for a while now, and I was wondering…"
"Yeah?" Brendan responds as he tosses out the trash their dinners made into a garbage can.
"Do you… Think these Milotic tails were worth it?"
"Well… Yes! We've been able to have many new adventures and make new friends too! Our lives likely wouldn't be ad interesting if we didn't find that Jirachi."
"True… I heard Dad's going to head to that place where we found Jirachi and is requesting us to do some research around Sootopolis City."
"That'll be fun! Why do you bring up the question anyways, May?"
"Was just curious… I agree with your statement, Brendan. I love you and our new Milotic tails!"
"Ahhh, I love you two!" Brendan swooned, leaning into May to give each other a kiss in dusk's light.
"I'm sure we won't regret this at all."
"Yeah, May. Yeah, we won't."
(And there we have it! The end of this tale about mermaid tails! Once again, I hope you enjoyed my little story here, and I'll see yall next time!)
