The next day, Ash and Pikachu step inside Izzy's apartment after seeing GeoGreymon standing outside. The original Digidestined were there along with the second generation.
"You made it just in time, Ash." Izzy told him. "We're planning to travel across the world and send the Digimon back to the Digital World."
"That's brilliant, Izzy!" Ash exclaimed.
Ash then saw a familiar face.
"Gennai, long time no see." He said.
"Pika." Pikachu said.
"It has been a long time, Ash." Gennai replied. The two then ran outside and saw Imperialdramon land outside the building along with Davis and Ken. The latter then spotted Ash.
"Hey Ketchum, what do you think of-" He was cut off.
"Imperialdramon." Ash stated.
"How did you know?" A surprised Kari asked.
"You guys aren't the only ones with this gift." He answered.
"Let's get going before it's too late." Everyone nodded before climbing onto Imperialdramon.
They were going to split up into groups to deal with this situation.
Sora approached Ash after learning he would be going with Davis' group. She, Ryu and Yolei would be handling the Digimon in Russia.
"Good luck in New York." She said.
"Same with you. Good luck in Moscow." Ash replied back as the two share a kiss.
"D.N.A Charge, Overdrive!" Ryu shouted. GeoGreymon raised his head towards the sky.
"GeoGreymon mega digivolve to...Rrah! ShineGreymon!"
The two go their separate ways as ShineGreymon and Imperialdramon fly off. Imperialdramon then landed.
"Miami, here I come!" Davis exclaimed.
Veemon was upset when Davis told him he'll get some food.
"First things first, we were supposed to meet Michael somewhere around here." Ash pointed out.
Michael ran over to the three.
"Davis, over here." Michael called out.
"Hey, Michael." Davis greeted him.
"I sure hope you like to fly." Michael said, before spotting Ash and Pikachu.
"Who's he?" Michael asked.
"Oh, this is my romantic rival Ash and his Pokemon Pikachu." Davis informed him, leaving Ash confused.
"You still don't trust me, do you?" Ash asked. Michael shook his hand as they boarded the plane.
Matt and Ken headed to Mexico while Ash and Davis's plane arrived in New York.
"Ash, welcome to New York City." The two admire their surroundings.
"It's a nice place." Davis then looked at him.
"Just wait till you see Mimi. I'll bet she has no idea who you are." Davis said as a voice called out.
"Davis, Michael you made it just in time." They notice Mimi and Palmon running in their direction. The pair spot a familiar face with them.
"Ash, I missed you so much. I can't believe you're here." Mimi kissed him with all the passion she could muster. This left lipstick marks all over his face.
"Good to see you again, Mimi." Ash replied, making Davis jealous.
'How does he do that? What's his secret with girls.' He thought.
Mimi then showed them that the Digimon were in Central Park.
"That's cool, they're sending all the Digimon our way." Davis said.
"Interesting. There are Digidestined all over the globe." Ash muttered.
"Pika." Pikachu said. Mimi explained that a friend thought of a plan. A man in a white robe stood in the distance.
"It's Gennai!" Davis shouted.
Then he heard Ash chuckle.
"What's so funny?" Davis demanded.
"Hate to disappoint you, but that's not Gennai."
"He's right. My name's Benjamin." Benjamin introduced himself.
"Benjamin is Gennai's friend." Mimi explained.
"We should get going and meet the other Digidestined." Ash instructed.
They head to Central Park which had a Christmas tree all lit up, leaving them amazed. Cherrymon was a different story. He started to attack the Christmas tree, causing the Digidestined to send a message to Mimi for help.
"Who's in trouble?" Davis asked.
"A boy named Phill. He said there's a Cherrymon attacking the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center." Mimi explained.
An impatient Davis was stopped by Michael.
"Do you have any idea where Rockefeller Center is?" He questioned.
"Of course. Actually, I have no idea." Davis admitted.
"I know where to go. I have a friend that can help us find it." Ash took out a Poke Ball.
"Noivern, come on out!"
Mimi, Davis and Michael had never seen this Pokemon before.
"Whoa!" Mimi gasped.
"He's huge!" Palmon exclaimed.
"Man, that's one tough-looking Pokemon." Davis said.
"Noivern, I need you to find Rockefeller Center. Follow us, guys." Ash ordered.
Noivern flew through the sky at high speed.
"That's the Ash I know." Mimi said as they follow him on the ground. Along the way Benjamin informed Mimi that Palmon could access her ultimate level due to the digicore he brought.
Soon the three arrived at Rockefeller Center.
"Noivern, return. We'll take over from here." Ash said, returning Noivern to his Poke Ball.
"Ready, Pikachu!" Ash exclaimed.
"Pika." Pikachu nodded.
"Time for us to master digivolve!" He shouted.
(Ash's master digivolution)
"Digimon."
"Ash master digivolve to!"
"Digimon digital monsters, Digimon are the champions."
"Digimon digital monsters, Digimon are the champions."
"Master digivolve."
"Voltachu!"
"Digimon digital monsters, Digimon!"
Voltachu and Lilymon got ready for battle.
"This should do it. Flower Wreath." A wreath of flowers wrapped around Cherrymon, but then he broke free.
"What happened?" Lilymon asked.
"It won't work because he's not being controlled." Mimi informed her partner.
"Alright Cherrymon, want to do this the easy way or the hard way." Voltachu then went on the attack while dodging Cherrymon's punches.
"Electro Ball!" Voltachu threw a sphere of electricity at the ultimate level Digimon. Cherrymon was unfazed by his attack.
"Whoa! How strong is he?" Phill asked, shocked.
"Very strong and experienced as well." Mimi replied.
"Alright ExVeemon, let's put that giant tree on ice." ExVeemon leaped at Cherrymon as Voltachu got a solid grip on him.
"Vee Kick." Both of them were kicked off the building and broke through the ice. Voltachu sank to the bottom of the water.
"Is that what you meant by putting him on ice, Davis?" ExVeemon asked.
"But you kicked both of them down to the ice." Mimi pointed out.
"Whoops, hope he's not angry." ExVeemon sweat dropped.
"If he resurfaces, you're dead." Michael remarked.
Cherrymon then called out. "Pit Pelter."
Miniature cherries strike the Digimon who are then entangled by Cherrymon's vines.
"D.N.A Charge, Overdrive!"
In the distance, a 17 year old boy and a owl-like Digimon with black feathers rushed to the scene.
"Falcomon warp digivolve to...Ravemon!"
"Blast Wing!" The vines were sliced apart, freeing the Digimon.
Then a glow emanated from the water.
"What's going on?" Davis asked.
"Voltachu is about to digivolve to the Legend Level." Mimi explained.
"Legend what?!" Davis shouted.
(Voltachu's legendary digivolution)
"Digimon."
"Voltachu legendary digivolve to!"
"Digimon digital monsters, Digimon are the champions."
"Digimon digital monsters, Digimon are the champions."
"Legendary Digivolve."
"Electrochu!"
Electrochu flew out of the water at high speed. Mimi and Lilymon were happy to see him.
"Welcome back Electrochu."
"That's Electrochu?" Davis asked.
"This is the first time I've seen this level." ExVeemon replied.
"Are we going to have a staring contest or are we going to send Cherrymon back to the Digital World." The others nodded.
"Blaze Blaster!"
"Ice Blast!"
"Flower Cannon!"
"Spiral Raven Claw!"
"X-Laser!"
