"Yeah, Amber actually discovered a star," Desmond overheard during lunch. Something about this sentence caught his attention. He turned to face the direction of the conversation to see Hildegard and Clio setting their lunch trays down at a table.

"I'm sure you can discover something much better than a star, Hildegard," Clio told her friend. Hildegard nodded and stated how stars are so tiny, so they're actually not that impressive.

"Actually," Desmond began as he approached the table. "Stars are quite large; they can range from being about eight hundred times the size of our planet to over six quadrillion times. They just look small due to being so many light years away," he finished.

Hildegard rolled her eyes over this statement. "Well, her star must be so much smaller than that since it took so long to be discovered," she said.

To this, Desmond paused and was lost in thought. Hildegard began to smirk in response. She had just stumped the smartest kid in school, and now she was going to find more proof that Amber's star was nothing compared to something she could discover.

Later that day during recess, Desmond could hear Amber and Sofia telling others ALL ABOUT discovering Amberina Major. Amber clearly enjoyed astronomy as a new hobby now. Desmond began to give a gentle smile. He remembered there was an astronomy club at school that he could be a part of. Investing in astronomy would definitely gain Amber's admiration.

That night, Desmond studied Amberina Major while Hildegard got her Royal Astronomer to write a paper on stars being small.

The next morning, Desmond met with the astronomy club in hopes of discussing Amber's star. He was so excited to tell Amber facts he discovered on her star, but he was very nervous as well. Would him studying her star without her knowing seem intrusive? However, he took a deep breath and remembered that he was also doing this to defend Amber from Hildegard.

Walking out of astronomy club, Amber was so excited to hear Desmond say how her star being so bright and blue means that it has both a high temperature and luminosity. "Luminosity?" Hildegard said. She approached Amber and Desmond who had just walked out of the classroom and finished, "What does that even mean? Doesn't sound very impressive to me."

"Luminosity is the amount of light emitted by an object," Desmond explained. Hildegard stood with a blank face and Desmond sighed and said, "How bright a star is." Amber gave a large grin as she knew exactly what he meant before he even had to explain. "And Amber's star is about one million seventy two thousand units more luminous than our own sun," Desmond finished.

Hildegard flicked out her fan then gave another eye roll. "What does the sun have to do with anything?"

Amber wouldn't even look Hildegard in eyes as she went, "Our sun is a star, Hildy..."

Hildegard gave a moment of silence. She tried to hold in a gasp before going, "Of course. I knew that." Hildegard then took out a document neatly rolled up and tied up with a ribbon. She pointed it straight towards Amber and Desmond then proudly said, "Well, I have evidence by a professional and royal astronomer that a star is actually small and nothing compared to something that I could discover."

"What!?" Amber cried.

Desmond, just as shocked, took the document from Hildegard and said, "Let me see that."

Desmond quickly began scanning through the paper. At one point he eventually gave a small chuckle. He looked back at the Freezenburg princess going, "Hildegard, did you even read this?"

"Of course I did. Why?"

"Because it says here how stars are actually some of the largest objects in the universe, unless you discover a galaxy which actually includes about one billion stars in itself," Desmond replied, still smirking and holding back a chuckle.

Hildegard's expression was both surprised and furious. "My astronomer was supposed to take MY side!!"

Amber, now giggling along with Desmond, told her friend, "Sorry, Hildy. You can't compete with science."

"Therefore, you actually should be quite impressed of the object Amber has discovered," Desmond concluded.

Hildegard flicked her fan out once again. "Well, maybe I will discover my own galaxy, then," she said before walking away.

Desmond and Amber looked at each other then began to laugh. After calming down a bit, Amber gave a simple smile and went, "Thanks for helping me and finding out such cool facts about my star, Desmond."

Desmond held back a blush before replying, "Oh! Well, I couldn't let Hildegard talk down on this amazing discovery you made. It deserved to be acknowledged for how amazing a star can be, despite how small it looks in the night sky."

Amber knew how amazing stars could be, but she didn't know any of the facts Desmond discovered on HER star! She also didn't know that Desmond's reasoning for helping her went far beyond just wanting to learn; it was also due to his growing affection towards her which felt even brighter and larger to him than Amberina Major itself!

The End!
